Slacker, then Shout-out

It’s that awkward moment when you realize this is your best chance to get your Saturday post on Saturday, yet you can think of nothing to write about nor have you any of your adventure books handy.  Adventure Books (yes, I like it better when I capitalize both.  I believe I have never used the phrase in the blog) are the cute little blank books I buy when I see them cheap.  I sometimes start to use them for a specific purpose, which usually peters out, and often end up carrying one or another with me when I go adventuring.  I realize I should use one, fill it, then move on to the next, but anybody who expects such organizational miracles from me is doomed to disappointment.

At wine tastings, the pourers are often surprised and delighted when I start taking tasting notes.  Taking random notes is also comforting when I am out alone or bored waiting someplace.  I try never to leave without a notebook or at least an adventure book.

OK, so I guess this post started as a Slacker Saturday then went to babbling on about my writing habits.  I’d better throw in a picture to make things look good.

A fun memory!

Here is an adventure I definitely took notes about:  a ride on Richfield Springs Scenic Railway.  This, of course, is my late lovely husband Steve.  So now I have also given a shout-out to an area attraction.  I wonder if I can link to their website so readers can check them out.

Looks like it worked!

Late Tired Tuesday Post, But Here Are Some Flowers

I have no idea why I was so tired on Tuesday, but so it was.  I had a headache, but it was only a common or garden headache, not a migraine.  My primary care told me to keep a journal of my headaches, so I am doing that.  I tried to do it once before, sometime in the mid-teens, I think.  In fact, I have that little notebook right here (I have roughly 3,825 notebooks of various sizes scattered about my house).  Ooh, I kept it up for three months.  No insight was gained, I fear.

Random pic from my Media Library.

I throw in a picture of flowers to cheer things up.  This is the rhododendron in my backyard last May. I do not think it is blooming yet, but I haven’t been out back in a few days.  I fear I must start mowing soon.  Maybe rake up last year’s leaves, since I do not have one of them there mulching mowers.

These are cheerful, yes?

To continue the flower theme, here are last year’s daisies. I have not seen any daisies yet, but I have shared my one tulip bud and the beginnings of my peonies.  I also have some forget-me-nots now.

And the peonies are a little bigger.

I bestirred myself to get my phone and add the picture to my Media Library.  The tulip has not yet bloomed, but I took a picture of that, too.

I think it is a yellow one.

I am approaching 250 words (over that now), and I think my coffee is ready (you did realize I was posting early Wednesday morning, didn’t you?  I realize I did not specify in the first paragraph).  I adjourn for caffeine.  As always, I thank you for tuning in.

An Unhealthy Use of Notebooks?

So I’ve been writing since I got home from work.  Actually, first I stomped around the house looking for the notebook I thought my article was in.  When I finally found it, I could not find the article.  You see, when I write in a notebook, I don’t always start on the first page and continue through in an orderly fashion.  I use different sections for different projects.  Then I run out of sections and put different projects in the same sections as the first projects.  Additionally, sometimes I use a notebook for a while, then put it down for a while, then go back to it.  Being of a reduce/reuse/recycle mind, I sometimes go through and write on the backs of pages, which gets thing all mixed up.

As I say, it is not easy being me, but it can be entertaining.

I ended up going through three notebooks, two of which I had to search for, one page at a time and did not find the article I had started writing.  At last, I remembered a fourth notebook.   I knew right where that one was.  It may amuse you to hear that I had left that notebook opened to the unfinished article.  What is it with me?

So I think one article is done, but my second article needs work.  In the meantime, after all the stomping, searching, and flipping, THEN trying to write, I am, once again TIRED!  I think I need to start living a healthier lifestyle.  Less fattening food, more exercise.  Vegetables.  Maybe some meditation.  What other healthy things are we supposed to do?  Oh yes, less screen time.  And here I am on my computer!  Luckily, I am over 250 words.  I call that respectable for a blog post.  Or should I call it healthy?
