Hello, and welcome to Lame Post Friday. We just returned from a lovely birthday dinner for our dear friend Kim. We went to Salvatore’s in Herkimer, one of our favorite spots.
I have to be honest: I am tired and not the least bit inclined to make a blog post. This should not be a problem on Lame Post Friday. I’ll just throw in a few random observations, mix in a little half-baked philosophy, and hit Publish. What could possibly be the problem?
I am half looking at a Dateline: Secrets Uncovered, but as it is the last ten minutes of the episode, I am not sure what is going on. It seems a couple of guys are getting a new trial for a crime they say they did not commit. I HATE the wrongful conviction cases! I want to see a case where they figure out who did it and convict the bastard!
Of course, now I am interested in these two particular guys. It seems they were offered the chance to keep their freedom by pleading guilty and being sentenced to time served. However, they felt it was important to stand on their innocence. I have to respect that. Full disclosure: I have also respected the people who take the guilty plea just to have done with it. I guess I am one to respect people’s choices, at least in this situation.
I think I have fulfilled my Lame Post Friday obligations. I observed the case on Dateline and I philosophized about it, perhaps half-bakedly.
Incidentally, the prosecution dismissed the charges against the men, but reserved the right to refile charges if more evidence appeared. I kind of wish I had seen this whole thing. Oh well, I probably will. I watch Dateline almost every day, if I can.
