It Is Neither Spring Nor Wednesday

Last week I was making each of my posts for the day before.  Today I will do the opposite and make my Waste Not Want Not Wednesday post on Tuesday (which is today for me, although my WordPress timestamp may disagree).  For one reason, I took two pictures last night that I can use.

Come on, daffodils!

This is outside the Ilion Municipal Building, where I went last night to cover the Village Board of Trustees meeting.  I was so happy to see some flowers!  I fear my own lawn is not similarly blessed.  For one reason, a bunch of snow fell overnight, and I am covered again.

Since I was early for the meeting I took a walk around the building.  I can always use a little more exercise (although I did run over 2 miles that morning).  I remembered there was something there I would also like a picture of.

I like when things are painted on buildings.

This is the back of a building on Otsego Street which houses at least a couple of businesses.  Alas, Moose River Coffee is no longer there.  Beer Belly Bob’s is under new management and goes by the name Beer Bliss.  I am not sure what else is in the building, but perhaps I could go there and check it out.  My local blog readers may want to know.

However, I will not be going there today.  As I said, snow fell, and I am not inclined to shovel.  I wonder if I could wait it out, like I did with the last snowfall.  I think it is worth a try.

Winter Waste Not Want Not

Under the heading Nobody’s Perfect, I missed making my Monday blog post.  Rather than resort to a late Monstrous Monday or an on-time Tired Tuesday (I am a little tired, but never mind), I shall skip ahead and make a Waste Not Want Not Wednesday post.  For one reason, I found three pictures in my phone I have not used.

I have been walking a lot lately.  I find it safer than running, since you never know when ice is lurking beneath the snow.  The beauty part of snow is, it gives you more traction than ice while slowing you down, so you burn more calories with every step.  At least, that is the thought with which I comfort myself when it seems to be taking me forever to get anywhere.  The beauty part about walking is that I can pause to take a picture when something catches my eye.

I did not try to go ice fishing.

I don’t know if this is an actual brook or just a kind of a drainage ditch.  Drainage ditch sounds awfully dirty, and this does not seem unsanitary to me.  I always like to see running water as I walk along.

I would find that cold.

On one walk, I saw this beautiful dog not on a leash.  I took a picture, thinking I should post it on Facebook or something.  However, the pooch did not seem to be wandering, so I knocked on a door and asked the lady who answered if she knew whose dog it was.  She pointed out the house, and I knocked on that door and warned them their dog was loose.  It was my good deed for the day, I guess.

One of my favorite views.

Relaxing after a walk, I enjoy two of my lovely Christmas presents from my parents:  fuzzy socks and soft slippers.  What a delightful thing on a cold winter’s day.

Ooh, look, I am over 300 words and have not once whined over having nothing to blog about.  It can be difficult getting out and about in the winter, but I shall manage something.  As always, I thank you for tuning in.

Waste Not Want Not

Waste Not Want Not

I thought of that title before writing the post, so I hope the post lives up to it, because, as regular readers know, I often have a problem coming up with titles.  Just to set the stage, it is early Monday morning.  I am ten-finger typing on my Chromebook and finding that coffee is not always the miracle I was hoping for.  Never mind that.  On with the post!

I often take pictures on my Tablet thinking to use them in a blog post then never write the blog post.  A couple of them made their way into my Media Library.  In the spirit of waste not want not (a favorite saying of mine and one I try to live by) (one reason I never throw anything away) (which explains my messy house) (oh dear, getting bogged down in parenthetical comments.  Stop it, me!)  I thought to use them in a post.

Taken on one of my artsy days.

I am truly sorry I never wrote the blog post about this event.  It was an art opening at Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts in Little Falls, NY.  The woman is Yulia Levkovich, artist of the picture titled “After Annigoni.”  The man is Matt Trombley, a friend of the artist and of me. He is a theatre friend; we did Shakespeare together.

It kind of makes me dizzy looking at it.

This is actually not one I took with the intention of using it in a blog post.  In fact, I did not take it on purpose but must have accidentally hit the button while I was taking “after” pictures of Saturday’s shoveling adventure.

I have other unused pictures on my Tablet.  Perhaps I will move them to my Media Library for another Waste Not Want Not post.  And just like that, I have come up with another category for Mohawk Valley Girl. It is a good category for early Monday morning while I am waiting for the coffee to kick in.
