Some Kind of Sunday

Oh dear, looking back over the last week, I see I have missed a few blog posts.  Well, at least I will not miss my Sunday post.  Last week I considered instituting a different feature from Wrist to Forehead Sunday.  That still appeals to me.  For one reason, I feel I must explain Wrist to Forehead every time, and explanations are so tiresome.

I must make a note to myself to strive to make my blog posts earlier in the day.  I get so tired so easily!  Perhaps I need to lead a healthier lifestyle.  Any suggestions?

A lucky find in my Media Library.

I have had an enjoyable if not particularly productive day.  I went for a long (for me) run, I grocery shopped, I did a load of laundry, I cooked a tasty dinner, and we watched movies, one of which I found a picture from, Murder by Death.

I cannot seem to find any good pictures from Sleepy Hollow, the first movie we watched, but here is a funny story about it.  Our DVDs are in alphabetical order.  I started looking for Sleepy Hollow   under “H,”  because I usually call it The Headless Everybody.

Skulls are so in these days.

The last movie we watched was The Screaming Skull. I think I have the movie poster in my Media Library but am too lazy to look for it so downloaded the above from Facebook.  You would think I could have found an image of Sleepy Hollow that way, but apparently not so much.

This is a fun book.

In my gyrations to share the skull picture, somehow I inserted Dick and Jane and Vampires into this post, which was also in my Media Library.  I know I could easily delete it, but I kind of like it.

I see I have somehow gotten to 300 words.  How did that happen?  I don’t know how to bill this post.  Cinema?  Scattered? Slacker?  Maybe Searcher Sunday, because I was searching for pictures to share.  Any thoughts?

Svengoolie, Can You Help Me Now?

Hello and welcome to another Wrist to Forehead Sunday Post. I suppose it could be a Scattered Sunday, though, because I have been all over the map.

I went on a long run this morning, did some house cleaning, grocery shopped, and mowed the lawn (no small task with my non-power mower and wimpy muscles). However, as is often the case, the highlight of my day was sitting in front of the television knitting.

He is the man, yes.

I enjoyed not one but two episodes of Svengoolie on my DVR. One was a Roger Corman movie with the rather unfitting title of The Undead. The other was a made-for-tv movie from 972 called Gargoyles.

In between Svengoolies, we saw House on Haunted Hill (the original William Castle/Vincent Price version) and Murder By Death, two of our go-to silly movies.

Aaand it seems my Tablet will not allow me to download pictures of those movies. No doubt I am too technologically ignorant for these things. In any case, I am soon switching over to Snapped, my usual Sunday thing.

I really need a wine glass with the logo.

It is becoming increasingly clear to me that I must reorganize and revitalize my life so that Monday does not bear down on me with swoon-inducing force. Unfortunately, I have few ideas on how to accomplish this. I guess all I can do is pick up my knitting and drive on. At least I have made my Sunday post on Sunday. As always, thank you for tuning in.

A Little Help from Elsa

Hello, and welcome to another Wrist to Forehead Sunday.  I am tired and discouraged, but there is no point in going on about it.  For one reason, somebody is sure to point out that other people have way worse problems than mine and I should just be grateful that… something or other.  I hate it when people tell me to “just be grateful that –”  I’ll be grateful when I’m good and ready!  Right now I’m complaining!

Only right now I am trying not to complain but to make a half-way decent blog post (cue jokes about the usual quality of my blog posts).  I was going to do my usual Sunday Cinema;  we started the movie watching portion of our day shortly after noon.  However, I cooked an actual Sunday dinner and we put the television on Snapped while we ate.  It’s still on, but the current episode is one I’ve seen more than once.  Maybe I can mention the movie we did watch and list a few others we might watch next.  After I hit Publish.

Doesn’t it look mysterious and spooky?

We wanted something scary but one we had not seen recently, so I suggested The Spiral Staircase (1946), which we have on VHS (just to show how old school we can be).  I was hoping to find a picture with Elsa Lanchester, but her part isn’t all that big.  Still, we love Elsa Lanchester, so I suggested we have an Elsa Lanchester film festival.  We could continue the spooky theme with Bride of Frankenstein (1935).

I should have had such a ‘do on my wedding day.

After that, we could watch Witness for the Prosecution (1957).  Elsa Lanchester’s role in this film is neither in the short story nor the stage play, but she is the best character in the flick.

This is also Bride of Frankenstein. Isn’t she pretty?

That is the picture I was looking for when I mentioned Bride.  I got tired of scrolling and looking through my Media Library so used the other one.  Then I found it when I was looking for the next picture. Just a little insight into my blogging methodology.

Spoiler alert: He doesn’t murder her.

Next we might go color with Murder By Death (1976).  That is a star-studded romp, and the first video I ever gave Steve, back when we were dating.  We have it on DVD now.

How many can you name?

Well, we won’t have any time to watch any movies if I don’t finish this post and hit Publish.  At least I’ve typed myself into a better mood. Happy Sunday, folks!

Blame It On Post-Christmas Let-Down

One of the all time great posters.

Well how can I make a decent blog post when I am in the throes of a post-Christmas letdown?  I guess the let-down has not really reached full strength, but it’s getting there.  Oh well, you’ll have these things, especially when you love Christmas as much as I do.  It should surprise no one that I am not up to discussing the philosophical ramifications of “cry because it’s over or smile because it happened.”

Right now we are enjoying one of our go-to silly movies, Murder by Death (1976).  Earlier we were watching Forensic Files.  I do love a true crime documentary, but I was reaching manic levels of sick-of-it regarding a song that was playing during a promo of upcoming attractions that played during every commercial break (good song, not even a bad version of it, but you can have too much of a good thing).

Earlier yet, I went Mohawk Valley adventuring with my sister Cheryl.  We went to Fort Plain Antiques and Salvage, and Mohawk Antique Mall.  I brought my Tablet with me but only took one picture.  Still, I could write a blog post giving a proper plug to these two fun shopping destinations.  Speaking of “could write a blog post,” I went running this morning.  Yay, me.  I really need to sit down and write a Running Commentary soon after one of these runs.

I am thinking, however, that right now I am over 200 words and I am going to call this a Wuss-out Wednesday.  What do you want a day after a major holiday?  Miracles, I suppose.  Well, we can always hope for what tomorrow may bring.  Happy Day After Christmas, everyone!
