Am I a Blogger or a Mouse?

Looking through my phone in hopes of doing a Waste Not Want Not Wednesday blog post, I realized I never used the pictures taken at the Elks Lodge the day a few of us wore our Minnie Mouse ears.  Bonnie, the friend who bestowed the ears upon us, had brought some snacks, and Jack made ice cream drinks.  A number of members showed up for the ice cream drinks without the ears, although Bonnie did bring an older pair of ears she happened to have, in case anybody wanted to wear them.

I thought I looked cute.

I had just purchased the polka-dot skirt at a thrift store that afternoon.  The shirt I had purchased for the second performance of A Revolutionary Murder, my most recent murder mystery.  The socks, shoes, pearls, and purse were already part of my wardrobe.  I guess it’s the theatre geek in me that loves to get dressed up at any excuse.

I think we all looked cute.

And here are me, Michele, and Bonnie, the three Minnies of the day.  We enjoyed the drinks and the company.

Even Minnie likes to put her feet up.

I told everybody I was going to be Maxie Mouse, Minnie’s more fabulous cousin for Halloween, but that means I have to find a really flashy outfit to go with my ears.  Oh, you think I probably already have some glitter in my closet?  It could be!

At any rate, this must do for my Wednesday blog post.  This morning I wrote my article about the informational meeting I attended in Herkimer last night, so I have performed some writerly chores today.  However, I must get back to work on the next murder mystery.  And there is that novel I told people I was going to write.  I’d better stop mousing around and have at it!

It’s All About Lame Old Me!

Oh crap, I have not made my Lame Post Friday blog post yet and it is almost one in the afternoon.  What is wrong with me?  I guess I have been a little busy.  I kind of alternate between running around doing things and sitting in my house in a huge funk, saying, “I Can’t Even.”  And I tend to spend more time doing the latter.  We must do something about that.  I speak with the Royal We, because I suppose in this case, I must help myself.

Who could be un-helped by blingy Minnie Mouse ears?

Here is a picture of me, all ready to help myself.  Is this not the picture of a woman who, in fact, Can Even?  I think so.  I only wish my mind were not so blank of something to blog about.

Hold on to your hat!

How about we make this post all about me?  I am taking care of myself today by getting my yearly mammogram.  Full disclosure:  before I got a mammogram last year it had been some years before I had had one.  However, it has been a year and a day since my last one.  I was amused to note I am getting my boobs squished on Dolly Parton Day (9/25, or nine two five), although Dolly would rather be known for books than looks.  I think that makes this post also a PSA:  hey, ladies, get your yearly mammograms!

And later on, I may strut my stuff!

After my mammogram, I will look for something fun to do.  The picture above is a rehearsal for a play I was in last year, which was of course fun, but such activities are not available to me today.  I include the picture, because I think I look cute (or do I flatter myself?).

Cheers to ME!

Yes, this is what I am likely to do later, lush that I am.  A glass of Chardonnay with friends.  If I cannot find any friends to hang out with, my knitting needles and an episode of Dateline or Columbo will have to do.  Happy Friday, everyone!

My Two Duck Day

I thought of that title this morning, when I told a stranger it was a two duck day for me.  But let me back up and lead with a very silly picture of me.

Enough bling even for me!

I met my Elk friends for breakfast this morning.  Bonnie was returning from a trip to Disney, and she had brought presents!  I was quite delighted with my sparkly Minnie Mouse ears, although I fear I will need a whole new outfit to really do them justice.

We met at the Friendlys on Burrstone Road in New Hartford, which has one of those claw machines with little ducks in it.  I had gotten a little duck the last time we had breakfast there.  My friend Michele said she was going to give me money to get her a duck today.  Alas, the machine with the little ducks was out of order!  I told her the next time I was in Ilion, I would stop by Colonial Laundromat, where they have a claw machine which is try till you win.

“Only they don’t just have ducks; they have other little animals,” I warned her.  “So I might not get a duck.”

Spoiler Alert! I got a duck!

I impulsively drove through Ilion.  It was hardly out of my way.  It was a good thing that machine was try till you win, because it took me a while to get that duck!  Still, it was the exact duck I wanted.  I can’t wait to give it to Michele.  A lady doing her laundry congratulated me on my win.  Then I saw a vending machine with all ducks for 75 cents.

Who could resist a little squishy duck?

“It’s a two duck day for me,” I told the lady.  And just like that, I had my blog post.
