Thanks, Weisser’s!

I suddenly remembered I wanted to give a shout-out and thanks to Weisser’s Jewelers in Herkimer, NY.  They helped me out with a gift recently.  Of course I could not make the post till I had actually given the gift, which accounts for the delay.

These guys are great.

My late, beloved husband Steven, had given me a couple of wonderful presents from Weisser’s, and I had visited the store myself, so I knew it would be a good place to find a nice present for my mother for her birthday.  I walked to North Main Street one Saturday morning and explained my mission.

There was a lot to see.

I looked around, admiring different necklaces, earrings, and bracelets.  I hesitated over some rosaries.  My mother collects them, so I thought one might be nice.  However, I was not sure what colors she has and did not want to give her a duplicate.

Who wouldn’t like a Herkimer diamond?

I was taken with the Herkimer diamond jewelry, some of which was paired with different months’ birthstones.  Ultimately, however, I decided not to go with Mom’s birthstone, emerald, because I thought she wore more blue than green.  I picked a beautiful, delicate necklace with a blue stone. Alas, I neglected to take a picture of it.  The nice lady offered to wrap it, which I was grateful for.

Mom liked her present, and I am thinking of returning to Weisser’s soon to purchase something for myself.  Maybe with a Herkimer diamond!

Weisser’s Jewelers is located at 246 N. Main St., Herkimer, NY, phone number 315-826-2544.  The are open 10 a.m. to 5:30 Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Wuss-Out? Wordless? It’s Wednesday!

Some bloggers have Wordless Wednesday,  showing pictures.  Full disclosure:  I only remember reading one Wordless Wednesday post, and that blogger used words.  I intend to use words, too.

I like the pictures she picked!

I have been meaning to take a picture of these mugs to share on Facebook, but I’d like to share them here as well.  This is the awesome Christmas present my sister, Cheryl, got me and Steven.  Even if I did have too many coffee mugs (and I DON’T), these would be a welcome addition to the collection.

I did not want to do a post with only one picture, so I took a couple more.

Who, me, lolly gag? Say it ain’t so!

This is my birthday present from Cheryl.  She says it sounds like something I would say.  The idea!  In fact, I do prefer dilly dallying to lolly gagging, due to the alliteration involved.  Steven found a good place to hang the sign when he redid our mantle after Christmas.

I’ll have to do some detail shots, to show off specific things.

Steven often goes from holiday to holiday with our mantle.  After Christmas is Valentine’s Day, sometimes followed by St. Patrick’s Day, sometimes going directly into Easter… This year, he went with an any time theme.  Actually, he added a couple of Valentine rubber duckies, in honor of February 14th, but I don’t know if you can see them in this picture.

So this is my Wednesday post.  I think it is a bit of a Wuss-out Wednesday, because all I did was share a few pictures and chatter about them.  I do not think it is such a much as a Wordless Wednesday, though, because I am over 250 words. I can’t do anything right.  Oh well, as usual I am going to hit Publish and hope for the best.  Hope to see you all on Non-Sequitur Thursday.

Ooh! Look at the Skeletons!

One of the shortest stops Steven and I made on our Saturday adventures was at Hummel’s Office Plus in Herkimer, NY.  We had to get a birthday present for a young friend of ours.

I wanted to get her a blank book.  It is one of my favorite things to have, so I naturally think others will like it too.  First we looked for a pen in the office supply area downstairs.  Like many writers, I am fascinated by the tools of our trade, so I was happy to spend some time with the writing instruments.  We finally picked a green one, a pen I have gotten for myself many times.  Then we went upstairs to look for a blank book.

We were immediately confronted by the Halloween decorations.  I LOVE Halloween!  There were many decorations I had never seen before. I especially like the See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil Skeletons.  We went around pushing the buttons on all the ghosts and things that played music and/or danced.

However, we were there for a present.  After much debate, we picked out a blank book we thought our friend would like.  Steven asked the clerk to wrap it. What a good idea!  I am terrible at wrapping presents and I don’t know if we have any birthday gift bags.  At the cash register I saw a couple more Halloween things I would like to go back and purchase.

We had not spent much time at Hummel’s, but I felt it was time well spent. I’m not saying I will, but I just MIGHT  go back and buy those skeletons.  And maybe a green pen.
