Lame Old Me

Last night I felt too tired to make my Lame Post Friday post, and I am justly served for my laziness, because I have a dreadful headache this morning.  Two lousy glasses of Chardonnay!  I feel most ill-used.  Sorry to bitch about it, but you know how it is.

Pretty!

I looked for a cheerful picture in my Media Library to counteract my whining.  These are my Black-Eyed Susans in August 2017.  The patch does not look nearly as nice this year, but I was happy to get at least some blooms.  I have fallen down dreadfully in the yard and garden department these past few years.  Little by little, I try to improve the situation.

Me, trying to improve the situation.

I used this illustration before with the caption, “Me, hacking away at the overgrowth.”  It amused me so much, I thought I would repeat it for the benefit of anybody that missed it the first time.

I was looking for a summer activity, so I could also make this a preview of coming attractions.  I found this from when a few members of LiFT, Little Falls Theatre Company,  met at Mangia Macrina’s Pizza in Little Falls, NY to run lines for Love’s Labour’s Lost.  I had actually started to go home, but turned around and joined them.  Alas, no LiFT or Shakespeare appear to be in my near future, but theatre is.  And possibly a pizza from Mangia Macrina’s.

OK, one more Shakespeare picture.

Bad Sunday, Good Pizza

My Sunday was really crappy, although I’ll admit my problems were primarily of the first world variety.  Then again, when you feel your desires are simple, it can be twice as frustrating to be unable to meet them. Additionally, my whole life these days is overshadowed by the grief of losing my husband.  I am afraid anything that sucks is going to suck a little bit more for the foreseeable future.  One must live through these things.

All I wanted to do was watch television.  A little news in the morning while I played solitaire (on the floor with a regular deck of cards), a little Snapped in the afternoon while I knitted.  A relaxing Sunday.  However, it did not work out that way.  Once again, my television persistently told me “No Signal.”

I spent time on the phone with cable people, I drove to New Hartford, NY to pick up a cable they said I needed, I figured out how to replace said cable, I spent more time on the phone, I drove to Little Falls so the UPS store could send my (brand new) cable box back to the cable company, I required two more phone calls to actually cancel service.  Phew!  That is the short version, but I did not want to skip any steps.

So now I sit in silence on Monday morning, pecking in one letter at a time with the stylus on my Tablet (I always feel the need to tell you that), making my Sunday blog post late once again.  As you see, I did not cancel internet.  I am not a savage, after all.

Just to add a plug for a local business,  in between the last two phone calls, I went to Mangia Macrina’s which is handily located in the same building, for a wood-fired pizza and a glass of wine.  While I sipped and munched, I wrote another character sheet for my upcoming murder mystery, Shooting at the Grange (more about that later) (preview of coming attractions).

Good pizza!

Mangia Macrina’s (Macrina’s, not Marine’s, autocorrect!  Sheesh!) is located at Canal Place in Little Falls, NY.

Rehearsal with Pizza? Yes, Please!

A few of us LiFTers met at Benton’s Landing in Little Falls to rehearse bits and pieces of Love’s Labour’s Lost.  Regular readers may remember that this is Little Falls Theatre Company and  that we are presenting the Shakespeare play as part of Little Falls Canal Celebration next weekend.

We got a few scenes done a few times when thunder started to rumble.  We moved inside to Mangia Macrina’s Wood-fired Pizza to run lines.

I’ve enjoyed their yumminess before.

By this time there were fewer of us, but we went over a few problem spots while enjoying pizza and drinks.  I did not have any pizza but sipped some Pinot Noir.  Others had Margherita pizza with basil.  I think it is delightful that Mangia’s now offers beer and wine.

After rehearsing we sat and chatted for a while, making for a perfectly enjoyable evening.

A good prop for a warm night.

You can catch Love’s Labour’s Lost at Benton’s Landing in Little Falls Saturday and Sunday August 13 and 14 at 1 p.m.  You can enjoy Mangia Macrina’s Pizza at Canal Place in Little Falls Wednesday and Thursday from 12 to 7 p.m.,  Friday and Saturday from 12 to 8 p.m., Sunday 12 to 5 p.m.
