Winter Waste Not Want Not

Under the heading Nobody’s Perfect, I missed making my Monday blog post.  Rather than resort to a late Monstrous Monday or an on-time Tired Tuesday (I am a little tired, but never mind), I shall skip ahead and make a Waste Not Want Not Wednesday post.  For one reason, I found three pictures in my phone I have not used.

I have been walking a lot lately.  I find it safer than running, since you never know when ice is lurking beneath the snow.  The beauty part of snow is, it gives you more traction than ice while slowing you down, so you burn more calories with every step.  At least, that is the thought with which I comfort myself when it seems to be taking me forever to get anywhere.  The beauty part about walking is that I can pause to take a picture when something catches my eye.

I did not try to go ice fishing.

I don’t know if this is an actual brook or just a kind of a drainage ditch.  Drainage ditch sounds awfully dirty, and this does not seem unsanitary to me.  I always like to see running water as I walk along.

I would find that cold.

On one walk, I saw this beautiful dog not on a leash.  I took a picture, thinking I should post it on Facebook or something.  However, the pooch did not seem to be wandering, so I knocked on a door and asked the lady who answered if she knew whose dog it was.  She pointed out the house, and I knocked on that door and warned them their dog was loose.  It was my good deed for the day, I guess.

One of my favorite views.

Relaxing after a walk, I enjoy two of my lovely Christmas presents from my parents:  fuzzy socks and soft slippers.  What a delightful thing on a cold winter’s day.

Ooh, look, I am over 300 words and have not once whined over having nothing to blog about.  It can be difficult getting out and about in the winter, but I shall manage something.  As always, I thank you for tuning in.

I Slack, But I Post

I am afraid this is another post I am making just for the sake of making a post today.  I wonder if I should make that a  category.  It is important to me to post every day.  When one skips a day, it is easy to skip the next one, and the next, etc.  I will try in the future to make more substantial blog posts.  For tonight, however, I will continue to indulge in my Slacker Saturday.

Old slippers but same position.

I am lounged on the couch, feet up, Chromebook on lap, Columbo on DVD player.  The slippers are a pair my late, much loved husband Steven gave me for Christmas some years ago.  I wore them out but show the picture to illustrate my slacker mentality.

Another happy lounger.

Looking in my Media Library for another illustration, I came across this one of our late, dearly missed pooch, Spunky.  He looks so relaxed.  He was an old guy when we adopted him, so he was never very active.

I was not very active today, although I began with great ambitions.  A headache got in the way, alas.  I did get a run in.  No, I did not have a run-in with anybody; I went running.  Sheesh!

Not the sort of run I went on.

This was the first picture I found that had anything to do with running.  I am now over 200 words.  Score!  I hope you are all having a delightful weekend.

Who Me? Be Silly?

Even a Yeti needs to put her feet up sometimes.

I do not know why this stupid Block Editor will not center my caption. It is very annoying, and detrimental to my self esteem to reflect that I cannot figure these things out. Additionally, I am REALLY ready to return to ten fingered typing.

And now I am.  I moved to my seldom-used laptop, carefully poised on my dining room table.  It must, it must continue to work while I am on unemployment, because my login and password are saved to the site where I put in for my weekly benefits.  Of course there are workarounds if I lose them or the laptop dies, but I am so unmotivated to follow them.  Enough of my computer woes.  I was about to make a Throwback Thursday Post, hence, a picture from December 2016.  The leggings are still intact, but I have completely worn out the awesome slippers.

It is a tradition for Steven to get me slippers for Christmas.  I always need them, and he picks such good ones.  It is hardly a throwback to show the ones he got me last year.

Recently seen in this space; recently heard in my house.

Incidentally, once on the laptop I switched to Classic Editor, and fixed the first illustration and caption.  Now my opening paragraph does not make any sense, but I will let it stand.  It will make a kind of a Non-Sequitur Thursday out of it.  In fact, today is kind of a non-sequitur for me, because I was thinking, “Ooh, a Throwback Thursday would be nice, but maybe I can have a Way Back Wednesday.”  Then I said, “Idiot, it IS Thursday!”  I should stop calling myself an idiot.  It is not very nice of me.

You see, it isn’t nice to call people idiots.

Now we’re really mixing things up:  Friday?  Tuesday?  I don’t know what day it is!  And this post is getting sillier and sillier.  But why not?  There are worse things to be.

Speaking of silly…

Here is one more Throwback picture, the Reindeer Run 5K in Little Falls, NY, from December 2017.  I am the silly one in the middle.  The Moose made a reappearance at the Turkey Trot 5K recently.  I fear there will be no Reindeer Run this year.  Perhaps I could do my own personal run.  I have a reindeer poncho, and I can use Map My Run on my phone to make sure I go for 5K.  I’ll be sure to make a blog post about it, with selfies.

In the meantime, I see I am over 400 words.  That is a lot for a foolish post.  No matter.  I shall hit Publish and look forward to Lame Post Friday.  As always, I hope you’ll stay tuned.

An Abominable Monday

I don’t want to make a blog post now!  It’s Dateline day on OWN!  Oh well, nobody is forcing me to be a daily blogger; it is my own dumb idea.  So I will try for a Monstrous Monday.

I would like to be this relaxed about now.

I was looking for a picture of the Abominable Snowman but could not find one, so I insert one of my slippers.  I have completely worn out those slippers.  Steven got me new ones for Christmas, but not monstrous ones, so a picture of them will have to wait.

Getting back to the post at hand, it has been kind of a monstrous day.  Yes, that is usual for a Monday, but I was treated to a different kind of monstrousness today (my computer seems to think that “monstrousness” is not a word, but it is exactly what I mean to say).   It was beyond cold, below zero plus wind chill.  My husband Steven nicely went out to brush off my car  while I was still getting ready for work.  I joined him already in progress and moved a couple shovels-full of snow from the end of the driveway.  My hands quickly got icy and I decided to take my chances.  About this time, Steven said he was going back in the house while his hands could still function to turn the doorknob.  The car was pretty much clear by then anyways.  It only needed a couple of swipes across the windshield with the scraper.

I felt triumph when my little car got out of the driveway without too much problem.  It is the smallest car I have driven in years.  But this is supposed to be a Monstrous Monday, not an account of my day.

I found him! I found him!

After taking a break to eat some supper, I took another look for pictures of Bumbles, and I found one!

I see I am over 300 words.  Regular readers know I consider that respectable.  When I make these nonsensical posts, I feel it is best to keep them short.  Well, maybe one more monster picture.  Happy Monday, everyone.

You just know I was going to pick Nosferatu, didn’t you?

Neither Wordless Nor Wuss

I was all set to do a Wuss-out Wednesday  post when I remembered that some bloggers do a thing called  Wordless Wednesday.   Not that I am usually wordless, nor do I intend to be entirely Wordless now.  But I do have a couple of pictures to share.  So here are two views of me.

Do you even like my feet?

I was hoping for slippers for Christmas.  I quite frankly never pictured these, but I LOVE them.  You can’t imagine how cool it is to look down at your feet and see these big fluffy things.  Unless you have a pair too, in which case,  excellent!

The next was taken last night before Steven and I went out to eat.  I wanted to put on something cute and this is what I came up with .

Steven said, “Hubba, hubba!”

Full disclosure  I purchased the shirt in the late 1980s, when I worked at JC Penney in Potsdam, NY.  I rediscovered them during Leading Ladies (remember?  the show I directed for Ilion Little Theatre), when I wanted to dress fabulously each night to make the curtain speech.  I added the Christmas vest and jewelry last night.

I confess, I thought I looked pretty fine.  So fine, in fact I was the one to say,  “Hey, Steve, take a picture!”

Oh dear, now I’m looking at the picture and seeing my pile of footwear at the bottom of the stairs.  Then again, maybe most people didn’t notice them till I foolishly pointed them out.  Oh well,  these things happen.
