Who Could Stress Over Throwback Monsters?

I thought I would do a Throwback Thursday Post.

Is 1922 far back enough?

Or maybe a Mid-Week Monsters Post.  I usually do those on Wednesday, the actual middle of the week, but I would think Thursday or Tuesday would be acceptable.  This, of course, is title character from Nosferatu, one of my favorite movies.

As you may have guessed, I ain’t got much tonight.  Today I let myself feel so stressed, I actually made myself sick.  Not in the sense if, “You make me sick!” I had physical symptoms.  What the hell, me?  I am feeling better now, from the symptoms and the stress.

Is that really how you spell symptoms? It doesn’t look right.  Yes, it is correct.  I just looked it up in the dictionary: an actual book I have had for years.  It was a gift from a friend, and I treasure it.

This is what I don’t got right now.

I thought it was time for another picture.  This is The Brain from the Planet Arous. Regular readers know I like to share his picture when I am feeling particularly brainless.  Perhaps I become redundant.  You’ll have that when you are brainless.

Sometimes you just have to put on the pointy hat and remind them who they are dealing with.

I close with the Wicked Witch of the West from, of course, The Wizard of Oz. At work, when I pick up a broom I often refer to it as my method of transportation.  It is not an original joke, but it usually gets a laugh.

I am going to count this post as a Throwback Thursday Post as well as a Mid-Week Monsters Post, because all my monsters are from old movies.  There is nothing wrong with being old.  I myself am old enough to know better, although I do not often act on the knowledge.

Wind and Witches on Monstrous Monday

I am sitting here listening to the wind outside howl and thinking how long it has been since I’ve watched The Wizard of Oz.  When it gets as windy as it is today, I always make the same joke. I think it is a pretty good one, but I daresay I flatter myself.

“When it’s like this, I worry somebody’s going to come along and drop a house on me.  It happened to a sister of mine.  Then the bitch stole her red shoes.  I wanted those shoes.”

Really, I think it would have been kinder to have offered the Wicked Witch of the West some grief counseling rather than stealing what was apparently some kind of family heirloom.  But I digress.

“Now what will I wear with my glittery red ball gown?”

I think a witch counts as a monster for Monstrous Monday, which of course is today.  For good measure, here is something more creature-ish.

“Those red shoes would look pretty spiffy with this outfit, too!”

According to a Facebook meme, sometime you have to put on the pointy hat and call out the flying monkeys, just to remind people of who they’re dealing with.  It would be a more effective threat if the Witch had not ended the movie in a steaming black puddle.

I’m afraid this has not been a very good post.  However, that makes my final picture appropriate.  I thought I would end on an inspirational note:

I Could Use a Rainbow

I can’t even handle a Monstrous Monday today.

Let’s call this a continuation of last week’s Blogger’s Sad Day (was it only last week?).  This evening, Steven and I went to our friend Julianne’s calling hours.  It was sad, oh was I sad.  I pretty much felt sad all day and thought how I would probably not be able to make a decent blog post.  It doesn’t even feel right to post monster pictures.  Well, there is one thing I could post, if I can find it…

Is this them welcoming Julianne to heaven?

Julianne LOVED The Wizard of Oz.  I think it is a pretty fun movie, and a great memory of my childhood (ooh, am I seguing into a Monday Memories post?).  Julianne was only a little older than me, so like me she grew up before VCRs (for really young people, that is what came before DVD, Blu-Ray and streaming).  You had to wait till they decided to show a movie on television, and there were only about three channels, unless you had cable, in which case there were about seven.  And until you got a color TV, you did not realize how truly wonderful it was when Dorothy finally got over the rainbow.

Well, my friend Julianne is over the rainbow now.  I hope she is in a wonderful place.  It makes me feel a little better to believe that she is.
