Tired Post, Late Shout-out

Why am I always too tired to do my Tired Tuesday post on Tuesday?  Am I getting old or am I just unhealthy?  I know it is not that I am working too hard, alas.  But enough about me, how about a blog post?

Last week I finally drove to Dyn’s Cider Mill in Richfield Springs.  I was in search of popcorn.  They have the best popcorn!  Popcorn is an excellent source of fiber, I have read.  Of course, with the amount of butter and salt I put on it, I cannot consider it a health food.  Still, it goes great with the movies I like to watch.

I love this place!

It was a bright, sunny day, which can be a little difficult to drive in.  Luckily I have polarized prescription sunglasses, a relic of when I used to work in the eye care industry.  It would have been a prettier drive had I gone earlier in the fall, but I can’t do everything (or even many things) in a timely fashion.  I still enjoyed the scenery and kept an eye out for any remaining bits of color (while still paying attention to traffic and bends in the road, I promise!)

I purchased two bags of popcorn and a half dozen donuts.  I know, donuts are far from a health food.  But they were freshly made and yummy!  Now that I have eaten them and they are gone, perhaps I can refrain from buying more and can begin a more healthy eating style.  No promises.

Dyn’s Cider Mill is located at 7915 NY-28, Richfield Springs, NY, phone number 315-858-2078.  You can find out more on their Facebook page.

Guess Who Made Her Blog Post Late? Doodah! Doodah!

Yesterday was a true Blogger’s Sick Day as I failed to post at all.  Now it is early Wednesday morning, and I am gratefully sipping coffee and wondering what I can blather on about for 200 words and how quickly I can do it.

A fun bunch.

This is a picture of members of Young Actors Workshop (YAW) about to March with Ilion Little Theatre (ILT) in the Ilion Days Doodah Parade last year. This year ILT was too busy with plans for their 100th Season (preview of coming attractions). Some members of YAW were quite disappointed.  I personally was on my way to Liverpool, NY that evening.

In the middle of typing that last paragraph (pecking in one letter at a time with the stylus on my Tablet,  I add as usual), my coffee went down my Sunday throat, as my grandmother used to say.  What a horrible feeling!  I paused to cough and gasp and now share the information with you in a petty bid for sympathy.  Also, I confess, to up my word count.

More colorful that year.

And here is the gang from 2019.  I confess to feeling a little melancholy this year as I drove by lawn chairs set out Friday afternoon in anticipation of the parade.  However, it is usually too long in the sun for me.  My husband used to accuse me of being an Addams for my love of gloomy days.  I took that as a compliment.

I Slack, But I Blog

This was one Slacker Saturday.  I don’t know why I am surprised.  I spent all week planning in my head everything I was going to get done today.  Have I not often observed that every time I make a plan, the plan goes to hell?   Still, I did not make a detailed plan.  Surely I could get at least a few things done (in this context, I am calling myself Shirley).

I successfully slept in, which I am not always able to do on a Saturday.  This was not part of the plan, but it felt good.  I had made my Friday blog post on Friday, so I had that going for me.  I had some coffee and eventually went on a long run.

I entered here during my run.

Maybe the run was too long and I wore myself out. Maybe the road trip to Liverpool last weekend followed by a mid-week drive to Rome had a delayed effect.  Maybe it was just a good day to do very little.  Maybe I am just a lazy bum.

Celebrating Dad’s birthday in Liverpool: Dad and Mom with my niece Jenna in between.

In any case, after the run, I managed to do only a very few things else.  At least I got a few post cards written and mailed.   People like to get post cards.

So this is my boring blog post about my not very exciting day.  I am going to call it a Blogger’s Sad Day and drive on.  Maybe I could just go back and add a few pictures to pep things up.

I guess I like it too, Dracula.

I just put in a Hammer Horror movie with Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, and Michael Gough.

Blogger’s Very Sad Day

Posts may continue to be sporadic, because I have suffered a loss.  My husband, Steven, passed away yesterday (Feb 3).

He was so handsome.

He and I enjoyed so many good times together, from Mohawk Valley Adventures to theatrical endeavors to just hanging out watching movies or true crime television shows.  I knew I was so blessed to have such a wonderful person in my life, and I will always cherish the memories.

This is an older picture.

I have been on Facebook, reading many tributes and memories from his family and friends.  He was greatly loved by many.

I guess there is not much else to say.  This is a Blogger’s Sad Day for sure.  But being with Steve was worth all the sadness.  Rest in peace, my love.
