Good Wednesday, Bad Post

Today, Igor.

One might feel Wednesday is onerous, because it is only half-way through the week. Or one can go to Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort, listen to a talented local musician, and feel better about the whole thing.

Awesome guy to listen to.

Tonight my husband Steven and I went to Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort and enjoyed food and music. I hope to write a longer post about it later. For right now, I feel tired. I hope this can count for my Wuss-out Wednesday Post.

Boris and Bela Could Not Help Me

Oh, Boris, please don’t rub it in!

That shot is from the movie The Black Cat, starring Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff. I recently saw it, on a DVR’d episode of Svengoolie. I started writing a blog post about it but was unable to complete it.

So here I am, typing (pecking on my Tablet with the stylus, really) during commercials while watching Dateline (she totally did it!). It surely is Tired Tuesday (and I’ll call you Shirley if I feel like it).

One reason I am tired is that I went to the laundromat after work. I inadvisedly decided to bring my laundry home to dry, since my drier survives. It would have been fine if it was one normal load. It was more. My drier has been at it for nearly three hours now. Lugging the wet laundry home and downstairs to the drier was not much fun either.

But just listen to me whine. What a big baby! Never mind. I’m too tired to go back and edit it to sound more cheerful. I’ll just have to look bad. We’ll see what I look like on Wuss-out Wednesday. As always, I hope you’ll stay tuned.

Cheerful Monsters?

I feel I ought not make another whiny Monday post, as some of my Monstrous Monday Posts turn out to be. Yet, I am feeling monstrous. Perhaps I could be monstrous but cheerful.

Looks like a fun bunch to me!

Who could be uncheered by William Castle, Vincent Price, and friends? I could get into watching a Castle/Price collaboration about now. However, I would probably want to go to bed before the end. I am on overtime so get up unreasonably early and get very tired by the end of the day (NOT whining! Merely explaining why I am not watching a movie) (It also explains why this post is turning out to be kind of dumb).

A tense confrontation.

The above is from The Terror, a Roger Corman romp, starring Jack Nicholson and Boris Karloff. I like a Corman/Karloff collaboration, too. Plus, it has the charm of alliteration. Regular readers know I love alliteration.

An even rompier movie.

And here is a Price/Karloff collaboration, with Peter Lorre and Jack Nicholson thrown in for good measure, The Raven. I must get that one on DVD for my collection.

Well, now I am feeling quite cheerful, thinking about these movies I love. Additionally, I am approaching 200 words. Regular readers (I think I still have some) know I call that respectable. At any rate, I made it through another Monstrous Monday. I hope to see you all again on Tired Tuesday, as I fear it will be (not whining now either, just predicting).

Not a Good Picture, Not a Good Post

I wanted to call this one “Not a Good Post, But Here Are Some Geese.” Unfortunately, my pictures did not turn out very good. In fact, I deleted one, because you couldn’t even see the geese.

There were a lot of them.

One reason it was difficult to get a picture was that I can barely see my Tablet in bright sunlight. Additionally, I cannot reliably zoom in. When I try, sometimes it works but more often I just put it in selfie mode. Yikes! I hate taking selfies.

So this is my very short (by my standards for my blog) post. I’ll call it a Slacker Saturday Post and drive on. As always, I’ll try for a better post tomorrow. Maybe I will have a Severed Head Sunday. We shall see.

Post, I Must!

Since I have been missing blog posts lately with no discernible injury to the space-time continuum, I am tempted to forgo tonight’s entry. The problem with that is that I will forgo other entries, and the next thing you know, I am no longer a blogger at all. That may not be a huge loss to the blogosphere, but it will diminish the quality of my life.

It should not be a problem today, being as it is Lame Post Friday. Only it is not a real Friday for me, because once again I work on Saturday. A conundrum, to be sure. Or is it?

Yes, it is. I just looked in my dictionary (an actual book, not Google) and learned that a conundrum is a riddle whose answer involves a pun or just anything that puzzles. I do feel puzzled, but wouldn’t it be awesome if I could also think of a pun?

Hmmm… nothing is coming. Since I work tomorrow but not Sunday, will tomorrow’s post be a Post Lame Post Friday Post? I guess that is a play on words but not quite a pun. Well, what do you want from me anyways?

However, I am just about at 200 words. I’ll call that a win, lame or not. Happy Friday, everyone!

Food, Music, and STEVE!

Yesterday, Steven got sprung from the pen, and by pen, I mean nursing home. In celebration, and since it was Wednesday, we went to Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort to enjoy food and music.

We got there before the music actually started. I introduced Steve to my favorite bartender, Toni. We pored over the menus, pondering.

This is actually a picture from a different visit, but she is still this cute.

I finally decided on a burger, which was a recent addition to the Fratello’s menu. Yum! Steven opted for a shrimp basket.

Yummy! The food was good, too.

Music was by Matt Migliore. We had not heard him before. We enjoyed him very much.

I don’t know who the guy in yellow was.

I did not make notes on what songs he played. Steven especially enjoyed a Beatles tune. We danced our way out to Billy Joel’s “My Life.” Matt waved us a friendly good-bye.

Nice!

We enjoyed our food and the music, and I was delighted to introduce Steve to my Wednesday night thing.

Going Nowhere on Tired Tuesday

Tired Tuesday follows Monstrous Monday, we all know that. At least, we know it now. I am trying to get back to posting daily, even it it means a lot of foolish, rambling posts. One does what one can.

In my defense, the hot, humid weather weighs me down. I feel I am a large, heavy piece of clothing saturated with warm water. Kind of like my laundry when my washing machine died before going through the spin cycle, only I wash in cold water. I do enjoy a good comparison. Earlier today, I told myself that my face will be coated in sweat for the foreseeable future. Sometimes it is easier to live with something when you acknowledge that it is, instead of wishing it was not, if that makes any sense.

In addition to the weather, I am coping with overtime at work. YES, I am grateful to have a job and grateful for time-and-a-half, so just don’t start with the “Just be happy that” crap. I want to be a lady of leisure! Is that too much to ask? Apparently so.

Where was I going with this? Nowhere, I guess. As always, I will try for a better blog post tomorrow. It will be Wednesday, my day for local music at Fratello’s. I missed last week. This may be something to look forward to. As always, I hope you’ll stay tuned.

Burning Questions on Monstrous Monday

Am I no longer a daily blogger or am I just going through a bad patch? If I return to posting daily will I truly be a daily blogger, considering the number of missed posts? Will I ever return to making a blog post daily? These are the burning questions that plague me on this Monstrous Monday.

I’m not loving the rest of the days either right now.

There is no point in iterating the various points of stress currently monsterizing my life (I’ll be damned: iterating and monsterizing are both words, according to autocorrect. I thought iterating was like a lost positive: you know, you can reiterate something, but nobody ever iterates anything. Monsterizing, I thought I just made up) (but I digress).

Nosferatu stands up to his problems.

I throw in Nosferatu just because he is my favorite. You may have guessed by now (if anybody is still reading) that I got nuthin’. In my defense, I finished and emailed my article to Mohawk Valley Living magazine. In my detriment, I don’t know if it was a very good article. Perhaps I am not the best judge of these things.

Totally me.

I close with a kind of a self portrait. OK, it’s not really me, but it is how I often feel lately. I believe I am not alone.

What I am is over 200 words. I call that a blog post. Can I do it again tomorrow? Can I make a better post? More burning questions to ponder.

Run Interrupted

I don’t feel like making a Lame Post Friday post today, because I work on Saturday (YES, I am grateful to have a job and for the overtime! Sheesh!). I went running today, since I will be unable to run tomorrow morning, so I thought, maybe a Running Commentary Post?

It would be more accurate to say I tried to go running. Things seemed to be going pretty well at first, then about five and a half minutes into the run (I did not look at my Garmin at the exact minute), I wiped out.

One minute I was running along the sidewalk, paying attention to where I was going, so I thought. Then I was down. It is kind of weird. I seem to experience these falls in stages. There is an instance where I feel I might fall (with barely time to feel I could somehow prevent it), then I know I am unavoidably going to fall, then before I even internalize the knowledge, I am down and saying, “Stupid, stupid, stupid!”

It hurt. Sometimes I can get back up and right back to running. Today I could not. I tried a couple of times. Then I gave it up and trudged, blood trickling down my leg in a couple of squiggly streams, several blocks home.

I stopped at a neighbor’s house for a little sympathy. He is a fellow runner and was setting up for a garage sale (tomorrow is Village Wide in Herkimer, N.Y.). He offered some first aid, which I declined (I was only a few doors from home), and comforted me with the fact that if you are going to run, sooner or later you will probably fall. I always feel better after I share my injuries.

And now I have shared my injury with my nice blog readers (I am taking it for granted you are all nice). I guess since I was limping after the fall, we could still call it Lame Post Friday.

More Music, Please!

I did not do my favorite Wednesday thing of going to Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort for food and music, but that is OK, because I never made a blog post about last Wednesday, when I heard Max Scialdone. I shall now attempt to remedy the omission.

Full disclosure: one reason I wanted to eat out was so I could have leftovers for my lunch on Thursday and possibly Friday. Additionally, I needed a treat. I ordered a glass of Chardonnay and perused the menu. When I chose the grilled chicken salad, my favorite bartender, Toni, suggested I add cucumbers. Genius!

I loved the colored lights.

When Max Scialdone started to play, he said how happy he was to be back “at the Frat House.” Why didn’t I think of calling it that? A number of his fans were in the house. We all greatly enjoyed the tunes.

He had t-shirts for sale.

The music and food were just the treats I needed, and I ended up with enough leftover salad for both Thursday and Friday’s lunches.

Fratello’s Pizzeria is located at 158 E. Main St., Frankfort, NY, phone number 315-894-8484. They are open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday. You can follow their Facebook page to find out when you can enjoy some great local music.
