One More Lame…

Here I sat thinking, oh, it will be all right if I make my Lame Post Friday post early Saturday morning; I have done it before.  Then I decided to make my post tonight.  Full disclosure:  I have had a couple of glasses of wine.  I like wine, especially on a Friday.  I like Friday.

Who me? Howl?

Here’s a funny thing:  in other posts I have looked for a particular picture in my Media Library in vain, sometimes spending a foolish amount of time looking.  Today, this illustration was in the very first place I looked, if you can believe such a thing (and why would I lie?) (when I do lie, I call it fiction).

I am not up to any Mohawk Valley adventures tonight.  I did think about going out to dinner, but once the bra was off, I was not inclined to put it back on (kindly do not say TMI, as if most of us women do not wear bras!).  So I have remained comfortably ensconced in my living room, looking at the computer then looking at Columbo and crocheting.  Yes, Columbo is usually for Sundays, but I was in the middle of an episode, so I finished that one, then there were two more on that DVD… you know how it is, and if you do not, well, just take my word for it.

My wife says…

I thought I would put a different caption from “One more thing…”  I think it would be a good idea if I started watching different DVDs so I could talk about other things than Columbo in my blog posts.  I know, more Mohawk Valley adventures would be a good idea too.  However, I can make no promises for tomorrow.  Perhaps I could reach back and make one of those posts I should have made a couple weeks ago.  But here I am blogging about what I could be blogging about.  Is that like a snake eating its own tail?  Discuss amongst yourselves.

With a Little Help from Columbo

I think all I can manage right now is a Wrist to Forehead Sunday post.  It has been a kind of Scattered Sunday in which I have accidentally gotten a few things done:  a little yard work, a little kitchen cleaning, a little grocery shopping… and a few more chores.  Now I am sitting on my couch, Chromebook on lap, kind of sort of watching, you guessed it, another episode of Columbo on DVD.  Sundays used to be for Snapped, now they are for Columbo.  In the future they may be for something else.

I did just drink some coffee.

Today I told my mother about the Columbo method of cleaning:  I clean for a certain length of time, then I say, “One more thing!”  Sometimes I say it a few times.  I get more done that way.

I paused in typing to watch the end of the episode, when Columbo brings the killer to justice.  I’ll tell you what, I will strive never to commit a crime, because I would hate to be arrested.  They cuff you with your hands behind your back.  With my sinuses?  My nose would be running in an instant (it always runs the most when my hands are full and/or I don’t have a handkerchief).  It would be disgusting.

Now I see I have gone over 200 words with this nonsense.  Perhaps I could get a little more cleaning done, using the Columbo method, of course.

I Strive to Improve on Wrist to Forehead Sunday

And then I let three days go by without a blog post.  Mostly because I did not want to make another post about not making a good post, yet I did not feel up to making a real blog post.  What the hell, me? Now it is Sunday, and I am feeling tired and done with the day but do not want another day to go by without making a blog post.  Well, I am trying to do better about every aspect of my life, blogging included.  I make  small improvements at irregular intervals.  Here is my attempt at improving my blogging.

I feel badly that I have good topics I have not blogged about yet. Perhaps I can make those posts in the coming week.  We shall see.  In the meantime, I will make a Wrist to Forehead Sunday post, just to not go another day without blogging.

I have been having a happy Sunday.

I am, in fact, watching an episode of Columbo.  I also utilized the Columbo method of cleaning:  I cleaned for a set amount of time then said, “One more thing!” and put away a couple more pieces of junk.

I do not only watch Columbo, although I do pop in many episodes.  I watched a different movie earlier, and during the previous week refrained entirely watching anything except for WKTV News in the morning.

So I guess this is a really nothing blog post.  I do believe that any blog post is better than no blog post at all.  I hope my readers agree.  If you do not, feel free to comment.  In the meantime, I am over 250 words.  Perhaps I can close with a cheerful picture at least.

Me drink wine? It could be!

It took me a while to find a picture I liked.  On the brighter side, this has gotten me over 300 words.  300 good words?  Let us not ask for miracles on Wrist to Forehead Sunday.

What’s Not to Lame?

I thought of that title last week when I saw a sign asking, “What’s not to like?”  I kept repeating it to myself so I would not forget it.  I don’t know why I did not write it down at some point, as I usually do things I want to remember.  Now I am not even sure it is all that good of a title.  Still, how good of a title to I need for Lame Post Friday?

As I type this I am looking at a Columbo episode titled “Undercover.”  I had thought it was not all that good of an episode (I saw it before years ago), but it seems I am wrong, because it has definitely caught my interest.  I guess I do not need to be glued to it though, since I have it on DVD. I can watch it again at any time.

He’s dressed differently in this episode.

I thought I had heard the heat would be over today, but it has not been the relief I was hoping for.  I suppose I should not have expected miracles. At least it was Friday. And still is.  Woohoo!  Will I have another on-time blog post? Could be!

I am not dressed like this right now..

I am enjoying a libation this Friday evening.  That picture is from some time ago, but I believe I have the same smile on my face.  I do enjoy my Fridays.

This has not been much of a post, but at least it is over 250 words.  Other writers try for quality over quantity, and many would say 250 is not all that much quantity.  I can’t worry about these judgement calls.  But perhaps I can find a fun picture to sign off with.

We should always be excellent to each other.

Bill and Ted.  There could be no possible objection.

I Cut Myself a Little More Slack

Here I sit, trying to make my Slacker Saturday blog post early Sunday morning.  At least, it is not early for me, but as Sunday mornings go for other people…  Not that I know that much about other people, but I have heard.

I put off making this blog post while I had some coffee, scrolled Facebook, played Solitaire, then read another blogger’s weekly post.  Oh, and I re-read one of my posts from 2012 which I had been thinking about.  I have been writing this blog for a long time, haven’t I?  Or, as Truman Capote famously said, “That’s not writing, that’s typing.”  I fear that lately my blog has become me rambling on, not saying much of any substance, much less sharing Mohawk Valley adventures as I intended to do when I began the blog.

Like KO Grainger at the Herkimer Downtown Chowdown.

I sometimes mention one I am going to write about, then when I sit down with the Chromebook… not so much.  What, I ask once again, is my problem?  More to the point, what is the solution? I confess I do not know.  I am not having much luck with the Do It Anyways method.

Am I too chicken to write?

Yesterday, by the way, was in fact a Slacker Saturday.  I went running, as I mentioned in my late Lame Post Friday post.  I puttered around, doing a little bit of cleaning here and there.  My house, as I have also mentioned, is quite the disaster area.  I express great determination to get it clean one way or another, then wander around, feeling ridiculous for not knowing where to start.  Then I put some things away and hope I have made some progress. Yesterday I discovered the Columbo method of cleaning:  I cleaned for a set amount of time, then when time was up, I said to myself, “Oh, one more thing!”

I am obsessed with Columbo, you may have noticed.

Eventually I wrote a few postcards and walked them to the post office.  It had stopped raining by then.  Returning home, I made some popcorn and watched, you guessed it, a couple episodes of Columbo.  I crocheted while I watched (after I had eaten some popcorn and washed the butter off my hands) (I’m not a barbarian, after all), so I could feel a little productive.

Once again, I have rattled on for an appreciable amount of words (just over 400!).  I shall end with a random picture, so that my Saturday post can be Scattered as well as Slacker.

Will the curtain rise on a new act for the play of my life?

Too dark, but I feel a picture of a closed curtain is always evocative.  It is the Capitol Theatre in Rome, NY, a good place to visit for future Mohawk Valley adventures.

Sunday Blog Posts Can Be Murder

I am so excited about being on a 26 day streak, which according to WordPress I am, that I cannot bear to not make at least a Wrist to Forehead Sunday post today.  Full disclosure:  I have little reason to swoon, dramatically posed with the back of one wrist to my forehead, because I have tomorrow off, and I have very little else to make a blog post about.  Nevertheless, let us see what I can come up with (some pundits would say  that since you should never end a sentence with a preposition, I should say, “Let us see what up with I can come”).

Me, posing dramatically with the back of one wrist to my forehead.

As you can see I have had myriad opportunities in my past for Wrist to Forehead moments.   This was from Dirty Work at the Crossroads, a period melodrama which my late husband Steven directed at Ilion Little Theatre some years ago.  It was a very dramatic moment for my character.

“One more thing!!”

As usual on a Sunday, I am looking at an episode of Columbo on DVD while I post.  The murder is about to happen, always a bad moment for me.  This is actually the first episode of Columbo I ever saw, back in the 1980’s, when the show returned to the air.  As time went on, I caught as many episodes as I could as re-runs, and now I have all the episodes on DVD, thanks to a lovely Christmas present from my parents, as regular readers know.

EEE!  That was a horrible murder!  And I am over 250 words.  Happy Sunday, readers.

At Least I Made a Blog Post

I allow an episode of Columbo to play while I make my Wrist to Forehead Sunday post.

I had my coffee earlier.

I like Columbo every day of the week, not just Sunday, but Sunday seems like an especially good day for him.  I have seen this episode enough times that I can let it play while I post.  I have had a kind of a wrist to forehead day.  I did not actually swoon (I have not a suitable chaise lounge for it anyways, as regular readers may recall), but I had a kind of dramatic bout of I Can’t Do Anything.  That, of course, plagues me regularly, the result of my depression or my innate laziness, but it is often worse on a Sunday.  I usually try to embrace the uselessness, just relax and enjoy the day.

I watched a cheesy horror movie, Manos: The Hands of Fate, a really foolish movie.  I had not meant to watch it, but it was on a DVD with three other movies, and I could not find the remote that allows me to arrow down to another choice.  I later found it right in front of me.  I used to accuse my husband Steve of hiding my things.  He would hide them in one of three insidious places:  Right Where I Left Them, Where They Belonged, or Out in Plain Sight. He would give an evil laugh and admit everything.  After I started the second movie on the DVD (also not the one I wanted to watch), I paused it to call my parents.  While talking to them, I talked myself into trying to mow my lawn. one of the chores I had felt utterly incapable of doing.

What can I say?  I fought the lawn and the lawn won.

From another year. The lawn won then, too.

EEEEE!  That was one of the more brutal murders on Columbo, and I looked up just in time to see it.  I’m always sad when I like the victim.  Sometimes the victim is a fool who tries to blackmail the murderer (in fact, the second victim usually is).  I sit there saying, “Are you ASKING them to murder you?”  When I write my murder mysteries, I usually make the victim a sonofabitch, hated by all.  For one reason, it gives everybody a motive.

I see I am approaching 400 words.  That’s pretty good for a nothing post.  Will the coming week bring posts of more substance?  We shall see.  I certainly hope you will tune in to find out.

Some Semblance of a Saturday Post

I forgot to make a Saturday Running Commentary Post earlier today after I ran.  I had an enjoyable Saturday after said run.  Not surprisingly to anybody who knows me, the Saturday involved some alcoholic beverages.  I am now at at my house, a little tipsy (I did NOT drive while achieving said tipsiness), remembering how I have been a faithful daily blogger  recently, and thinking it would be a good idea if I made some sort of a Saturday evening blog post.

Just one more thing…

I am watching an episode of Columbo on DVD.  It is an episode I have seen several times before, so I am able to make a blog post while it plays.

Yummy!

Earlier, my friend Kim and I enjoyed a couple of drinks and some food at Yetty’s in Herkimer, NY.  This picture was taken at another visit, which was equally as yummy.

Another Yetty’s photo.

The head is always behind the Yetty’s bar, with different hats and accessories.  This is also a picture from another visit.  Full disclosure:  I did not notice what the head was sporting this time.

Another place, another time, but the same sweet smile!

My friend Kim was my partner in today’s Mohawk Valley adventures.  This picture, of  course, is from a different day, but we had equally as good a time.

Will this count as a Scattered Saturday post?  The content of the post is not scattered, but my brain definitely is. You will have these things on a Saturday. In my defense, I am of age, and I was not driving.   With your permission (or without, as it happens), I will return to my enjoyment of Columbo, and whatever entertainment follows.

I Run a Gamut on Wrist to Forehead Sunday

Hello and welcome to another Wrist to Forehead Sunday post, the day when I swoon, dramatically posed with the back of one wrist to my forehead.  Alas that I have no chaise lounge to swoon upon.  One must make do.  It is only a metaphorical swoon anyways.

Peter Falk and coffee, what more could I ask?

I am once again watching Columbo on DVD.  I do enjoy Columbo on a Sunday afternoon or evening.  I am not, however, drinking coffee.  I enjoyed that this morning.

My view earlier today.

This morning I went running for the first time since March.  One of the places I ran was the path over what used to be a hydraulic canal.  The fun painted things are getting a little faded.  I hope whoever is responsible freshens them up soon.  I would like to take my great nephew and niece, Sheppy and Evie, for a walk there on one of the nice days we occasionally get.

Crawling, slimy things? Bring it!

I share the picture of The Brain Eaters because I feel as if something has eaten away my brain.  I guess not having a brain is becoming a chronic condition with me (cue jokes about how I never had much brain to begin with).   I haven’t seen a cheesy horror movie in a while.  I wonder when I will get a chance to see one.  Maybe after the current episode of Columbo.

Is this cheerful enough?

As it was becoming increasingly clear I have not much of substance to say, I looked for a cheerful picture to close with.  This was the first to catch my eye.  It is a publicity photo for a version of Hush… Hush, Sweet Charlotte that was never completed.  Joan Crawford was to have starred opposite Bette Davis but was replaced with Olivia de Havilland.  I am currently re-reading The Divine Feud: Bette and Joan, which tells all about it.

So this post has run the gamut from Columbo to running to Bette and Joan, with a detour into Brain Eaters.  That seems like a lot for one weekend.  I look forward to what Monday brings.

Just Another Wrist to Forehead Sunday

Well I had a fine start to my weekend (according to the title of my last post) and not bad weekend, and today is Wrist to Forehead Sunday, the day when I swoon, dramatically posed with the back on one wrist to my forehead, in anticipation on the upcoming Monstrous Monday.  My aim is to begin blogging daily again, as I once did.  So here I am.

It isn’t an unhappy Sunday.

I am watching an episode of Columbo as I type this. Patrick McGoohan is the murderer, one of my favorites.  For anybody unfamiliar with Columbo, this needed no  spoiler alert.  In Columbo, the viewer sees the murderer commit the “perfect” crime then watches Lt. Columbo cleverly solve it.

Earlier tonight I watched a 1973 TV movie of Double Indemnity.  It was included with our DVD of the original 1944 film.  Alas, I do not know how to find a picture of it on my Chromebook.  I might have a picture of the original in my Media Library, but can I find it?

Steamy!

I have been knitting while I look at the television, a very relaxing way to spend a Sunday.  Earlier today I got a few things done, did the dishes, went grocery shopping, made a salad for my week’s lunches, progressed a little more on various cleaning projects, took a walk… I listed each little thing in the TV Journal, just to encourage myself.  I wrote a few other things in the TV Journal plus worked on a letter to a friend, just to have done a little more writing.

And now I see I am over 250 words on this blog post.  So I have posted for two days in a row.  I suppose that is not such a much, but I like to celebrate every small win.  As always, I thank you for tuning in.

A slightly blurry photo from another weekend.

I just wanted to add another picture.  I am enjoying a glass of wine, by the way.
