The Post Is Certainly Scattered

I was all set to do a Scattered Saturday Post, but I guess I was too scatterbrained to actually do it on Saturday.  My bad.

It was not a super good day for me.  I started out having problems with my cable.  Instead of going on a run, I got some exercise by attempting to shovel my driveway.  In this I was helped by an anonymous neighbor who snowblew the end, a path to the front steps, and the walk in front of the house.  So that was a very nice thing.

The cable problem wasn’t complete frustration, either.  They were actually able to send a tech on a Saturday morning, he showed up when they said he was, and he was very nice and helpful.  I only have trouble feeling grateful for it now, though, because I got up this morning to the same damn problem!  It must be operator error, because the guy gave me a new cable box and replaced some outside wire.  I talked to a guy on the phone this morning who concluded that an inside wire is to blame.  He is sending me a replacement, but I can also drive to New Hartford, NY, and pick one up for free.  That way I will not have to wait and will have a spare in case it happens again.

I Don’t Know About My Saturday, But This Post Is Certainly Scattered.

I just typed that into the title bar then realized it was far too long for a title.  Under the heading Waste Not Want Not, I copied and pasted it here.  Now I am too lazy to change the capital letters to lowercase (but apparently not too lazy to spell out “capital letters” when the rest of the world just says “caps”).

Anyways, the rest of my Saturday was spent with my friend, Kim. She met me at the End Zone Pub, where I had gone after  I walked my post cards to the post office (that makes it sound like the post cards walked too, like they were my pets that needed exersise).  We enjoyed a libation, and I took a picture, since I had it in mind to do a Scattered Saturday Post.

They posed and approved the shot.

Next Kim took me to my house to pick up an afghan to donate to the HALO Chinese Auction, which was being set up at the Mohawk American Legion.  We stopped on the way to the Legion at Mohawk Antiques Mall to pick up a copy of Mohawk Valley Living magazine.

Lots of good prizes to try for!

Local readers, if you see this in time, I encourage you to go to the auction.  It is today, Sunday, March 5, 2023.

Easier the trying to type in the info. Did I mention I was lazy?

Murder? Music? It’s a Friday Lame Post!

How do I not manage to make a Lame Post Friday post on Friday?  It’s a lame post,  how hard could it be?  Oh well, I was having a nice evening, sipping Barefoot Pinot Noir and watching true crime on cable television.  Yes, I am too lame to stream.  So twentieth century of me!

They are bad-ass and compassionate.

Part of the evening was spent looking at my new favorite thing, Reasonable Doubt on ID on DVR (I am at least technologically adept for that).  Actually, it was my new favorite thing some months ago, but I have not had a new favorite thing in a while.  I need some new favorite things in my life.

Speaking of favorite things,  my husband, Steve, and I may be heading to the Mohawk, NY American Legion tonight to hear The Posers, our favorite local band (preview of coming attractions).  I heard too late last night that another good local band, the Playin’ Again Trio, was at Fratello’ Pizzeria in Frankfort.  Then again, we had such a pleasant evening at home, I do not regret it too much.  We missed hearing another favorite,  Phil Arcuri, on Wednesday, because Steven was not feeling well.  And that is my local music plug for the post.

So I guess this is my Lame Post Friday post, made on Saturday morning,  but who’s counting?  Oh, YOU probably are (you know who you are).  As always, thank you for tuning in.

Late Post about The Posers

I have mentioned our favorite band, The Posers. The best Friday night we had in a long time was the night we went to see them at the Mohawk American Legion.

These guys rock!

The event took place in the parking lot. Food and drink was available. I had some salt potatoes while Steven had a hot dog. But of course the main draw was the music.

I danced around, clicking.
Drummer and bass, the backbone of the band.

As you can see by Steven’s ensemble, it was one of the cooler evenings. We had a blast, though. I’m glad I finally wrote something about it.

Post Posers Post

This post was supposed to be titled “Pre Posers Post” and was supposed to be written before we went to the Mohawk American Legion to hear one of our favorite bands.  However, my post-work nap took longer than anticipated, and I was too flustered to make a proper post before our friend Kim picked us up to go to the Legion.

Now, unfortunately, I am a little tired and tipsy to make a really good post.  Still, one must persevere.  We had a marvelous time at the Legion.  We drank, we danced. Kim took a few pictures.

A band shot.

That is scarcely a problem, however, since it is Lame Post Friday.  As regular readers know, however many foolish posts I may have made during the week, I rarely forgo Lame Post Friday.  It is a thing withe me.

Maybe a little less good of a shot.

So here is my Friday Lame Post:  We went to the Mohawk American Legion and heard our favorite band, The Posers, featuring one of our favorite people, Rick DeJohn, on base.  We danced our butts off.

Full disclosure: this photo looked better on Kim’s phone than it looks now.

It was a wonderful Friday.  I can only hope for an equally enjoyable Saturday. In the meantime, I highly recommend The Posers as a good band to listen to.  Happy Friday, everyone.

A Dog? Oh Boy!

It’s that awkward moment when you are about to write your blog post about one thing, then you think you ought to start with something else, and then you want to go another way.  Oh!  I just remembered:  it is Non-Sequitur Thursday!  Perfect!

The main thing I wanted to write about was this great dog Steven and I just met.  I mean, I wanted to plug a fundraiser.  You see, I had volunteered to donate one of my afghans to a fundraiser I had heard of.  The main reason I heard about it was that music will be provided by The Posers, one of my favorite local bands.  I have been messaging with a lady on Facebook about where to drop it off.  Today Steven and I wanted to go to dinner (we were given a gift card — thanks,Mom and Dad!), so I messaged that we would stop by after that.   The lady messaged back that it would be OK, the band would be practicing around 7, and there was a very friendly dog.  A dog?  Oh boy!

We had a little trouble finding the house (we’re not good at Ilion).  As I was walking toward the house, the lady came out, to save me a few steps.

“We were hoping to meet the dog,” I said.

“That can be arranged,” she answered.

What a nice dog!  He is a Springer Spaniel named Bruce Springersteen.  How cool is that?  We petted him and told him what a good boy he was.  So we were happy we had dropped the afghan off today.

Oh yes, to plug the fundraiser:  Team Rebecca’s Annual Fundraiser, for American Heart Association’s Greatest Heart Run and Walk, Saturday, Feb. 10, 6 p.m., Crowley-Barnum American Legion Post 25, 43 W.  Main St., Mohawk, NY.

Well, that was only a couple of directions.  I was also going to talk about the dinner we had, as well as a couple of other dinners we’ve had recently.  However, you can only have so much blog on Non-Sequitur Thursday.

Party Like It’s 1980something!

So this Friday I am staying home and putting rollers in my hair (long story for another post), but last Friday, Steven and I and a couple of friends partied like it was the ’80s’s.  Yes, I said like it was the 1980’s, not like we were in our 80’s (although that it does feel like sometimes).  We went to the American Legion in Mohawk and danced to the sounds of The Posers.

We had never heard the band before, but we were interested because the bassist is our good friend, Rick DeJohn.  We got to the Legion shortly before they started.  I texted the  couple who planned to meet us that we had arrived.  They soon joined us, and we were enjoying the band.

It was not long before they played a song I remembered well from my days of watching Mtv, back when they actually played music most of the time.  I asked Steven to dance with me.  We bogeyed down!  Not many people had been dancing prior to this, but afterwards, the dance floor started to fill up.  We danced a lot, and I loved it.  They did not only play 1980’s music. We enjoyed it all.  It was easy to see the band was having fun, and I think everyone listening was having fun as well.

The Posers will be playing at the Team Rebecca Fundraiser at the Ilion Moose Lodge, on Barringer Road this Saturday, Feb. 18.  Donation for admission is $15.  For more information, go to http://teamrebecca.alfordplace.com/. For more information on The Posers, you can visit their Facebook page.
