I’m Idle on the Ides

Beware the Ides of July!  Perhaps you thought the Ides were only in March.  A doctor I used to work with said it was the Ides the 15th of every month.  This was the same doctor that once made a smarter-than-thou remark and I told him not to be didactic.  He said he didn’t know what that meant.  I told him it meant the same thing as pedantic, and he got mad.  I like to tell that story.  But I digress.

Today on Facebook, I posted that it was the Ides of July, which must be why I was having a bad day already.  It is a weird day, because the wildfires in Canada are affecting the air quality here.  It is as dark as a very cloudy day in my house, but when I look outside, everything looks yellow.  I find it creepy.  I KNOW, Canada has it much worse, I feel terrible for them!  Anyways, a couple of friends commented that they hoped my day got better and I realized I was probably the only one who could make my day better for me (a fairly daunting thought).

Accordingly, I took a soapy shower (I found some moisturizing body wash and one of those plastic spongy things). I put on one of my fancy caftans and the fancy shoes I later found to go with it.  Naturally I took a picture.

Don’t you just love the pompoms?

I might have looked more elegant with my ankles crossed, but with my left foot perpetually asleep, I felt it better not to.  Long-time readers may remember those shoes as the ones I wore to get strangled in in Prescription: Murder at Ilion Little Theatre about a year and a half ago.  Everybody loved those shoes then.

He looks upset, but he was really glad I was dead.

Maybe I can also bill this post as a Wayback Wednesday now.  Anyways, I also took a selfie, so readers could see my fancy caftan.  Maybe I should get one of them there selfie sticks, so I can really give the picture.

I try to look cute.

I guess I have cheered myself up some.  I feel cool and elegant in my caftan.  Maybe I’ll pour some ice water into a fancy glass and sip it slowly.  At any rate, at least I’ve made a blog post.  I hope the air outside is better, so I can have some Mohawk Valley Adventures tomorrow.

Another Theatre Throwback

I meant to go to a Mohawk Valley business today for my blog post, but it did not work out.  I am having some serious problems with energy and motivation these days.  Yes, yes, I know:  motivation follows action.  If I do something, anything, I will find my motivation.  The fact is, I had a very enjoyable day reading a book then watching true crime shows on television.  Judge me if you are so inclined.

However, blog posts must be written, at least my blog posts by me, according to my rules for me.  Maybe I could do another Throwback Thursday Post. Or perhaps some Mid-week Monsters.  I’ll look in my Media Library and see what moves me.

Here’s a fun bunch!

Here are some members of Ilion Little Theatre, about to participate in the Doodah Parade last July.  Alas, there were no Ilion Days this year, but let us not dwell on sad things.

I cast a spell on you!

As long as I am remembering the Doodah, here I am, about to participate in the 2018 parade.

A dramatic moment.

I do not seem to have any pictures from the 2017 Doodah Parade,  but here is a picture from July 2017 of The Tempest, presented by LiFT,  Little Falls Theatre Company.  Oh, it has been too long since LiFT has done Shakespeare!  A group of us was trying to revive things in 2020, but it was not to be.

I miss my theatre friends.  Perhaps one day soon we can get dramatic again.  In the meantime,  I see I am over 250 words. I call that respectable, and I’ll see what I can do about having some New Mohawk Valley adventures soon.

Morning’s Memories

That’s me, putting my husband in his place.

I saw this photo in my Facebook Memories this morning, and it did bring back good memories.  I thought I would use it in a Throwback Thursday post.  It is a rehearsal shot from Morning’s at Seven, a play I did last year at Ilion Little Theatre.  It was a great deal of fun.

I still have a copy of this, I think.

This is the flier, which we hung up all over the town, I hope.  At least, we got some good audiences.

This was kind of a dramatic moment.

Here is the entire cast on stage in costume.

Split screen of the same room.

And here are a couple of backstage shots.  Backstage is often as interesting as what goes on onstage, but I think this play was pretty interesting onstage. I do not recall any particular backstage dramas.  I try to avoid such things.

Pre-show cast selfie!

To prove my point about no backstage drama: here we are all before a show, looking perfectly happy together.  I loved the cast, crew and director of this play.  Yay for good memories.

A posed cast picture.

As long as I am having a Throwback Thursday about Morning’s at Seven, I might as well share all the pictures I can find.

And I gotta share my favorite!

This is one of my favorite scenes of the play, where I have a heart to heart with the character played by my good friend, Jim Mills.  He is  wonderful actor, and we both had a great time doing this scene.

It is nice to look back on theatre experiences past, and I hope one day soon to make some new memories.  Of course, I will make a few blog posts about it!
