It’s All About Monsters

I feel it is very appropriate to have Monstrous Monday the day after Halloween. But can I find any good monsters to post? We shall see.

It creeps, and leaps…

I often feel like a blob on a Monday. Oh who am I kidding? I have blob-like tendencies most days. I was once accused of being a mud puddle waiting to evaporate. I was unable to frame a convincing argument. But we’re not talking about me.

I know: they might starve to death.

I don’t know how I got that picture here. I was looking for Nosferatu. Sometimes I am dangerous with a stylus in my hand.

Now I can’t seem to get my Media Library to show up. Once again, I’m sure it is Operator Error. Most of my life can be summed up in those two words, but, once again, we are not talking about me.

There’s my guy!

Now I found one of Nosferatu! Then I hit something that made the space where I am typing these words all narrow. I managed to fix that and feel I should quit while I’m ahead. Happy Monday, everyone!

Wrist to Forehead Monstrous Monday?

My plans for a better blog post will not come to fruition tonight. Instead I am going to make another Monstrous Monday Post and go to sleep. I hope. Hope to sleep, that is. Insomnia is ever my nighttime companion, but never mind that now. Let me try to fine some monster pictures I have not shared recently.

She is traumatized that I cannot make a decent blog post.

Here is Bonita, more naked than usual but sporting some elegant accessories. She is striking a wrist to forehead pose. This is how I swoon when I am feeling particularly dramatic, although I believe the proper way to do it is on a chaise lounge.

He looks pretty cheerful for not being a morning person.

Here is another monster from our personal collection. I have been using that mug a lot lately but have not seen the vampire. We did not bring all our Halloween decorations down from the attic.

I fear this will be a short post as my tiredness threatens to overcome me. Yes, I will soon be making a dramatic pose like Bonita’s. Anyways, happy Monday, all.

I Don’t Have a Problem with Monsters

Am I having a problem with posting every day? Yes, as a matter of fact I am. I am having a lot of problems these days, and yet I hesitate to post about them. For one reason, it is so tiresome to do nothing but complain. For another reason, my mother reads this blog. I do not want her to worry.

Quick, post a picture of a monster. It is Monday after all.

It will cost you an arm and a leg!

This is not actually a monster, but a picture from a monster movie of a fellow who does not survive an encounter with a monster. Quite frankly, the guy was asking for it, although I try not to judge. The movie, by the way, is The Brain that Wouldn’t Die. We just watched it again yesterday.

“Rise and shine, master!”

I gave up trying to find a related picture and threw in my favorite, Nosferatu. He looks like he’s resting comfortably. I actually think that is Harker with him, not Renfield. I’ll need to watch that movie again.

Who me? Drink wine?

Tip #2: Know when to give up and make a Monstrous Monday Post instead.

A Short Monstrous Post

And so I come to the end of an enjoyable three day weekend. How monstrous that I must return to work tomorrow! Thus making my Monstrous Monday Post appropriate. See what I did there?

He’s scary!

I open with my all time favorite, Nosferatu. For the uninitiated, this is a 1922 silent film, and one of the scariest ever made. I have not actually watched it in a long time. I rarely watch silent movies, because it is too difficult to knit or crochet during them.

Well, this is a truly monstrous development. I cannot seem to navigate my Media Library. I have had this problem before. It is terribly frustrating.

The course of true love ne’er did run smooth.

Earlier today we watched Frankenstein followed by The Bride of Frankenstein. James Whale, who directed both, was a phenomenal filmmaker. I just love old school horror.

Claude Rains, in a wonderful voice performance.

James Whale also directed The Invisible Man, which I may watch again soon. I must strive not to become the Invisible Blogger.

Summer, Halloween, Christmas… It’s Monstrous Monday!

So here I am, trying to get back into daily blogging and I feel unable to type a word. I was unable to write anything earlier as well, so let me attempt yet another Monstrous Monday Post.

Isn’t she pretty?

It seems my most recently shared monster was Bonita, our skeleton, in her summer outfit, accompanied by her friend Bonaparte (as I recently dubbed him). I have that same headband and wore it a few days ago, although I did not get a picture.

Who could resist that smile?

Here is another of our personal monsters, residing in a lovely pot given to me by my friend Marsha. It is one of my favorite Halloween decorations. Yes, I am thinking about Halloween in the last days of August. I think about Halloween year round.

Ho, ho, ho!

Back to Bonita, with a Christmas theme this time. Some people want to make Christmas last all year. I feel the same way about Halloween. So, I feel sure, does Bonita.

I approach 200 words (my self imposed standard) and have shared three pictures. I shall call that respectable for today and, as usual, try for a better post tomorrow. Happy Monday, everyone!

(That last paragraph made it exactly 200 words, by the way.)

Cheerful Monsters?

I feel I ought not make another whiny Monday post, as some of my Monstrous Monday Posts turn out to be. Yet, I am feeling monstrous. Perhaps I could be monstrous but cheerful.

Looks like a fun bunch to me!

Who could be uncheered by William Castle, Vincent Price, and friends? I could get into watching a Castle/Price collaboration about now. However, I would probably want to go to bed before the end. I am on overtime so get up unreasonably early and get very tired by the end of the day (NOT whining! Merely explaining why I am not watching a movie) (It also explains why this post is turning out to be kind of dumb).

A tense confrontation.

The above is from The Terror, a Roger Corman romp, starring Jack Nicholson and Boris Karloff. I like a Corman/Karloff collaboration, too. Plus, it has the charm of alliteration. Regular readers know I love alliteration.

An even rompier movie.

And here is a Price/Karloff collaboration, with Peter Lorre and Jack Nicholson thrown in for good measure, The Raven. I must get that one on DVD for my collection.

Well, now I am feeling quite cheerful, thinking about these movies I love. Additionally, I am approaching 200 words. Regular readers (I think I still have some) know I call that respectable. At any rate, I made it through another Monstrous Monday. I hope to see you all again on Tired Tuesday, as I fear it will be (not whining now either, just predicting).

Burning Questions on Monstrous Monday

Am I no longer a daily blogger or am I just going through a bad patch? If I return to posting daily will I truly be a daily blogger, considering the number of missed posts? Will I ever return to making a blog post daily? These are the burning questions that plague me on this Monstrous Monday.

I’m not loving the rest of the days either right now.

There is no point in iterating the various points of stress currently monsterizing my life (I’ll be damned: iterating and monsterizing are both words, according to autocorrect. I thought iterating was like a lost positive: you know, you can reiterate something, but nobody ever iterates anything. Monsterizing, I thought I just made up) (but I digress).

Nosferatu stands up to his problems.

I throw in Nosferatu just because he is my favorite. You may have guessed by now (if anybody is still reading) that I got nuthin’. In my defense, I finished and emailed my article to Mohawk Valley Living magazine. In my detriment, I don’t know if it was a very good article. Perhaps I am not the best judge of these things.

Totally me.

I close with a kind of a self portrait. OK, it’s not really me, but it is how I often feel lately. I believe I am not alone.

What I am is over 200 words. I call that a blog post. Can I do it again tomorrow? Can I make a better post? More burning questions to ponder.

Monster Movies, Murder and Mayhem on Monday

I felt very fortunate to have today off, but I must confess I did not make very good use of the day. I got the lawn mowed and made some small progress cleaning up some of the overgrowth on the perimeter. I purchased dirt for my container garden but have not used it yet. Baby steps.

And I watched a couple movies.

Jackie Coogan? No way!

This poster showed up on one of my monster pages on Facebook, and I was like, “Oh, yeah, I’ve seen that!” I had it in one of my cheesy DVD collections (The Best of the Worst), so I popped it in. I had an idea I might do a write-up on it for the blog. Not today, though.

The movie is actually in color.

The Terror was on the same disc as Mesa of Lost Women, so I watched that next. I have written about The Terror more than once. It is a favorite of mine. Love that Roger Corman! Um, he produced and directed. The above picture, of course, shows Jack Nicholson and Boris Karloff.

I started to watch another movie but turned it off to make my blog post. I have some true crime television playing in the background. I just loves me some murder and mayhem. Ooh, just look at all the Ms (or should it be M’s?)! There’s my alliterative headline!

More Wine for the Melting Blob!

Point taken.

My problem is I finished my glass of wine and I am no closer to Tuesday. At least, I guess I am a little closer. After all, I didn’t gulp the wine down all at once. But it’s no use. I’m not going to make a better blog post, as I had hoped to do. I don’t even feel like making a bad blog post. Quick, find another picture to lighten the mood.

I’m about this green, but my teeth are not as white.

This is part of my problem: the heat and humidity continue. I know other parts of the country are worse. There is a reason I do not live in those areas. I am sure there are other people more uncomfortable than I am. They have all my sympathy. But I still feel like crap.

An even more accurate self portrait.

No, THIS is me! The Blob! Shapeless, slimy, and getting bigger all the time! Where is Steve McQueen to put me in my place? Come to think of it…. Spoiler Alert! … at the end of the picture, they dumped the Blob in Antarctica or some such place. It should happen to me!

Well, I still feel hot and uncomfortable, but now I’m laughing at myself. That is not bad for a Monstrous Monday.

Me Whine? On Monstrous Monday?

I am going to make a Monstrous Monday Post. For one reason, I recently downloaded a really cool picture.

A f

And I STILL can’t add a caption! Anyways, this is Vincent Price, William Castle, and friends.

The other reason I wanted to do a Monstrous Monday Post is that I am TIRED! I do not want to go on about it, though. It would constitute whining. I hate to be called a whiner. Come to think about it, usually when somebody says I’m whining, I don’t feel I really am. Do others have that experience? I would imagine they do.

But I digress. Perhaps I could find a picture of a whiny monster, just to tie things together.

I don’t know that I would call this whining, but no doubt somebody would. At least we can agree it is a monster (I just KNOW somebody out there is disagreeing) (you know who you are).

If I can find just one more monster picture, I can get to 200 words, hit Publish, and call this a blog post. These are my rules for me. Judge me if you are so inclined.

Waaaait a minute! That’s not a monster, that’s me! I guess I can be monstrous at times. And isn’t it better to wine than whine? Discuss amongst yourselves.
