Monsters for my Blogiversary!

Happy Blogiversary to me.  At least, WordPress said Happy Anniversary, but I like my word better.  I have been writing this silly blog for a dozen years now.  How the time flies.  What better way to celebrate than with another Monstrous Monday Post?

Isn’t she sweet?

Although I have been blogging since 2011, I only started including pictures in 2016.  I was always slow to catch up with technology.  We got the witch at Pumpkin Junction in Sauquoit, a great place to go for Halloween stuff.  Witchy, as I like to call her, stays on our front porch all year.  I dress her as an angel at Christmas time.

“What do you mean you’ve been blogging for a dozen years?”

I had to include my favorite guy, Nosferatu, of the eponymous 1922 silent movie.  I always think he looks startled in this shot, as if we have interrupted him.

I love the side-eye.

THERE’S The Brain That Wouldn’t Die !  I was looking for a picture of her for yesterday’s blog post and couldn’t find one.  I’ll be a ding dong daddy, as my grandmother used to say.  I keep thinking I will take the time to make an index of my Media Library but I never do.

Isn’t she pretty?

Back to my own decorations with my skeleton Bonita wearing a mask I think was made for a dog.  I picked it up at a rummage sale somewhere.  I don’t know if you can tell, but Bonita is holding black tulips.  They were made by my friend Jerry for a murder mystery.  He graciously presented them to me afterwards.

I thank any readers who have been reading me since 2011 (if any), I thank anybody just tuning in, and everybody in between!  I hope I have entertained!

I Swoon Over Columbo

I have been obsessively watching episodes of Columbo on DVD.  I may have mentioned that my parents gave me a boxed set of the entire series for Christmas.   The episode I am watching right now features George Wendt.  Imagine Norm from Cheers as a murderer!  That did not need a Spoiler Alert; that was the gimmick on Columbo:  you saw the murder and the suspense came in how Columbo was going to prove it.

He did not want to answer “One more thing.”

I started another episode just now but may go to bed before it is over.  It may be clear by now that I do not have a whole lot to say.  I guess that is normal for a Wrist to Forehead Sunday Post.

What a bad Monday I would have if I did that!

Having Monday tomorrow isn’t really so bad.  My job is not heinous.  Naturally I would prefer to be independently wealthy and not have to work, but as is often observed, one cannot have everything.

One of the all time greatest fictional detectives.

Full disclosure:  I had a Mohawk Valley Adventure today.  I hope to write about it in the near future.  In the meantime, I hope this will do for today’s post.  As always, I thank you for tuning in.

Bonita was also having a Wrist to Forehead Sunday.

Is It Really Wednesday?

OK, all I really have right now is that title.  I guess that makes this either a Wordless or a Wuss-out Wednesday when what I really feel like making is a Mid-week Monsters Post.

Of course, she does have a pretty face.

This is the movie I wanted to watch on Severed Head Sunday.  Unfortunately, I only have it on a DVD collection, not a DVD all by itself.  And with my current DVD situation, I can only put the disc in and hit Play; I can’t arrow over or down to play the second movie on the disc.  No Special Features either, although I rarely got into watching those.  Not that I mean to harp on my first world problems.

“First world problems are still problems!”

Here is my skeleton Bonita having a Wrist to Forehead moment.  I have been feeling a little apt to swoon these days, in my more dramatic moments (of course I have many dramatic moments; I am a theatre person, after all). I guess I don’t have a theme for today’s post.  It is being made out of a desire to post every day, and not to make this post late.

Is that Pinot Noir?

Sometimes the best thing to do is just pour yourself a glass of wine and hope for a better post tomorrow.  I purchased that glass at Pumpkin Junction in Sauquoit, NY, just to mention a local business.  I stupidly broke it last Halloween. Perhaps I can get another one this fall.

In the meantime,  I am over 250 words.  Not bad for a silly post.  I am going to take my own advice: sip a little wine and hope for a better post tomorrow.  As always I hope you’ll stay tuned.

Can My Monsters Help Me Now?

Oh dear, another late post.  It is early Thursday morning and I am ten-finger typing on the dining-room-table-top, wondering what on earth is wrong with me.  Never mind going down that rabbit hole, let me attempt a fast Mid-Week Monsters Post.

It’s OK, Joan, we’ve all dated creeps on occasion.

This may be a problem.  As I go to my Media Library, the pictures take forever to come up.  I have better luck if I go to a specific month rather than scroll down the whole shebang and in this case randomly picked April 2021.  Not a good choice.  It was Joan Collins in Empire of the Ants or Vincent Price as Egghead on the old Batman TV series, holding an Easter egg.  I picked Joan.  I would love to catch Empire of the Ants again sometime.

I always say Nosferatu is my favorite, but I love them all!

I thought I would have better luck in October and chose 2020.  I was heavy on the pictures that month!  Of course, that was in the midst of the Covid Quarantine, when I had more time for blogging activities.  So most of my pictures are of neighborhood scenery, plus a few selfies of surpassing silliness (just a little alliteration there).

She is happy because somebody sent her flowers.

I close with our skeleton Bonita, wearing a dog’s Halloween mask I picked up at a rummage sale somewhere.  The black tulips were made by a good friend for a murder mystery called Spring Into Murder.  He presented them to me after the performance and I have used them as Halloween decorations ever since.

I see I have somehow managed over 250 words.  Score!  I must try for a better post later.  For one reason, I have some pictures I took that I need to use (I believe I alluded to them on Tuesday’s post).  As always, I hope you’ll stay tuned.

Is This Any Way to Make a Blog Post?

Oh dear, it is the Type It In Backspace It Out Disease.  That is no way to make a blog post!  Hmm, that sounds like it could be a title.  Actually I am feeling right now that there is no way I can make a blog post, which is a little silly, because, well, here we are.  I am thinking this going to be a Wuss-out Wednesday Post.

It is still summer, isn’t it?

I threw in a picture to pep things up.  It is our skeleton, Bonita and her friend Bonaparte in summer mode.  We are beginning to get whiffs of fall these days, but it is definitely August.  We will still feel plenty of heat.

Pretty! Alas, they are no more.

Speaking of August,  here is a shot from August 2020.  I hope to up my gardening game in 2023.  Of course, I will be upping it from zero, so it will not be difficult to make some improvement.

My current mood?

From August 2019, I find some cloudy skies.  I love a cloudy, gloomy day.

It’s scary!

I close with a picture from Horror Hotel, because, hey, why not Mid-Week Monsters?

So this is my blog post.  I share pictures and babble on.  Did I mention I am still tired?  Oh, that was some of the stuff I typed in and backspaced out.

25-Inch Lame

Can I make my Lame Post Friday post on Friday? I intend to try. But first, can I just point out that my Tablet’s predictive text thingy is very inconsistent? It used to be, when I typed in “Lame,” “Post Friday post” was automatically suggested. Tonight it was not. Then again, “used to be” is a pretty useless thing to say. When somebody else says it, I usually say, “I used to have a 25-inch waistline. Things change!”

Incidentally, it is true that I once had such a small waistline. I do not expect to have one ever again, which will be all right with me. I have other things to worry about.

My waistline was never this small.

I thought I would throw in a picture to pep up the post. This is our skeleton Bonita and her friend Bonaparte. She is dressed n her last year’s summer outfit. She has not dressed for summer yet. Maybe this weekend…

One of my many summer outfits.

I share this picture to show me in the same headband as Bonita’s, not to emphasize my lack of 25-inch waist. I am at Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort, NY, I add in order to give a brief shout-out to a local business.

I see I am over 200 words. Yay! I’m going to call it a blog post and go back to enjoying my Friday.

Two Skeletons and a Glass of Wine

Monday through Friday workers know: sometimes the best you can hope for on a Monday is to Just Get Through It. Workers of other schedules know that feeling applies on other days as well. Oh, I know, I have very little to complain about. Why should I let that stop me? It seems to not slow others down. Never mind, let’s just get on with the blog post.

A handsome couple indeed.

This is our skeleton Bonita with her friend Bonaparte. She is wearing her last summer’s outfit. We have yet to dress her in this summer’s togs (Preview of Coming Attractions), but I am sure she will look equally alluring. At least Bonaparte will look equally as admiring.

He would probably like to meet Bonita.

I took a picture of this handsome fellow last Fourth of July, when my friend Kim and I visited our good friends Phyllis and Jim. Phyllis passed away the following August, and I still feel the shock of grief when I remember she is gone.

Full Disclosure: I already drank the wine.

Having interjected that sad note into my post, I feel free to point out that sometimes, for some of us, a glass of wine is a beautiful thing. I certainly enjoyed many glasses with Phyllis.

So I guess this is my Monstrous Monday Post: a couple of skeletons and a sad note. But I also smile when I remember my friend Phyllis. That makes this a not bad Monday. Once again, I thank you for tuning in.

Operator Error on Wrist to Forehead Sunday

I am trying to post more often and feel I can manage a Wrist to Forehead Sunday Post. Or maybe not. Quick, put in a picture to pep things up.

Everything’s coming up rose`?

This is not the picture I was looking for, but it takes FOREVER to scroll through my Media Library. A problem with WordPress or with my Tablet? Or is it, as is often the case with me, Operator Error? However, the above picture is appropriate, because I did enjoy a glass of rose` earlier. The accent is wrong, but I do not know how to put on a proper accent. That is definitely Operator Error.

I know just how you feel, dear!

After searching the Media Library once again, the best image I can find is our skeleton Bonita having a wrist to forehead moment of her own. What can I do? The internet defeats me.

It seems odd to me that after over 10 years of writing this blog, technical difficulties are causing this much problem. I have clicked of the Ask The Expert option on my WordPress site, but apparently I did not do that right either. What the hell, me?

In any case, I think I have eked out at least 200 words from this nonsense. I will try again tomorrow. Maybe before I start on the rose`.

Monsters Help Me Over the Hump

Believe me, I saw the hump!

I promised myself I could do a Mid-Week Monsters Post, and I especially wanted to use the photo above. I really don’t have a whole lot to say other than, “Yay, I’m over halfway through the week!” But that’s all right, because all I have to do is find monster pictures in my Media Library. Yay monsters!

They were a lovely couple.

Instead of a movie monster, I share Bridezilla and her Groom from the Halloween party at Herkimer VFW last October. After they posed, Bridezilla had to laugh at herself, because she was smiling for the picture behind her mask, as if we could see her.

Another cute couple.

Continuing with non-movie monsters, here are our skeletons Bonaparte and Bonita. Bonita is in her Halloween outfit. It is just about time for her to put on her Easter outfit. And for us to put away our Christmas decorations, although I don’t like to rush into anything.

Death takes a bow,

This handsome fellow was also at the Halloween party at the VFW. I thought it would be a good picture to close with since he seems to be taking a bow. As a well-known theatre geek, I love a good curtain call.

I Wish I Was Invisible

It is time once again for a Monstrous Monday Post. It has been a semi-monstrous day, but I will not elaborate on that. For one reason, I am pecking one letter at a time with the stylus on my Tablet, and the device is being rather uncooperative. Predictive text is not the least bit attuned to what I might be trying to say, and autocorrect is a bitch.

Never mind all that, let me find a picture of a monster to brighten our day.

He really disappears into his character.

Here is Claude Rains as The Invisible Man. He is a real actor’s actor. Bette Davis loved working with him. They never did a horror movie together, alas.

A peek into the creative process.

I couldn’t find anything that related to the first photo, but here is a behind-the-scenes glimpse of a William Castle production. Castle is the guy with the cigar. The seated fellow is Vincent Price. I don’t know who the ghouls are, but I love their outfits.

Another fashionable ensemble.

I can’t find another good movie monster in my Media Library, so here is a picture of our skeleton Bonita in her 2020 Halloween outfit. The black tulips are from a murder mystery.

I am afraid this has been a rather disjointed post, but you’ll have that, especially with me. I’ll try for more Mohawk Valley Adventures as the week progresses, but no promises. Still, I hope you’ll stay tuned.
