Two Skeletons and a Glass of Wine

Monday through Friday workers know: sometimes the best you can hope for on a Monday is to Just Get Through It. Workers of other schedules know that feeling applies on other days as well. Oh, I know, I have very little to complain about. Why should I let that stop me? It seems to not slow others down. Never mind, let’s just get on with the blog post.

A handsome couple indeed.

This is our skeleton Bonita with her friend Bonaparte. She is wearing her last summer’s outfit. We have yet to dress her in this summer’s togs (Preview of Coming Attractions), but I am sure she will look equally alluring. At least Bonaparte will look equally as admiring.

He would probably like to meet Bonita.

I took a picture of this handsome fellow last Fourth of July, when my friend Kim and I visited our good friends Phyllis and Jim. Phyllis passed away the following August, and I still feel the shock of grief when I remember she is gone.

Full Disclosure: I already drank the wine.

Having interjected that sad note into my post, I feel free to point out that sometimes, for some of us, a glass of wine is a beautiful thing. I certainly enjoyed many glasses with Phyllis.

So I guess this is my Monstrous Monday Post: a couple of skeletons and a sad note. But I also smile when I remember my friend Phyllis. That makes this a not bad Monday. Once again, I thank you for tuning in.

Oh, To Be A Well-Dressed Skeleton!

Isn’t she pretty? Bonaparte thinks so.

You’ve heard of Wordless Wednesday? Well this is Mute Monday. I am too beat to blog (I just have to be alliterative about it), so here is a picture of our skeleton Bonita in her Halloween outfit, which Steven designed for her. I wonder if he could do anything with my wardrobe. Bonaparte is certainly admiring of Bonita’s ensemble.

Revisiting Area Skeletons

How embarrassing. I just realized I never gave a title to yesterday’s post. I could add one now, if I could think of one (not a sure thing). Only some bloggers already Liked it. Maybe they would not like it as well with a title. These are the things I worry about.

Be that as it may, I need to make today’s blog post. I thought I would try for another Throwback Thursday. This is Thursday, isn’t it? I am in a dreadful time warp these days. But what better state than a time warp to visit the past? If I find one, I’ll let you know.

Just hanging out with friends.

This picture is from Pumpkin Junction in Sauquoit, taken in 2016. I’ve visited Pumpkin Junction once this year and may go again, perhaps tomorrow.

He’s just chillin’.

This fellow was in an antique store that has since, sadly closed. I wonder if anybody bought the skeleton while they could. I wish I had!

I love the skulls.

Here is another October shot of a local business, the White Rose Bakery in Little Falls. I love when places decorate. The White Rose has an even more elaborate display at Christmas (preview of coming attractions).

Here is my skeleton.

I close with one of my favorite pictures of Bonita, one of our own skeletons. A friend recently pointed out that I was reveling in my favorite time of year. I suppose it is true. I am also feeding my minor obsession with skeletons. I hope it made for a fun Throwback Thursday Post.

Bare Bones of a Blog Post

Crap! WordPress picked today to impose its new editor on me, and I have no idea how to share a photo. I purposely took a photo for that title! Curse you, WordPress!

One of my favorite wines.

After great effort, I find out I can add a photo I took earlier of a glass of wine I poured myself. Of particular note is the wine stopper, which I purchased yesterday at Pumpkin Junction in Sauquoit. I wished I had a Halloween bottle to put on it, such as Vampire Pinot Noir or Werewolf Merlot. However, I thought the scary picture of the convict was good enough.

You know, that grass looks pretty green. I SO do NOT want to mow again.

I just shared this picture yesterday but thought it fit with the Bare Bones theme of the post. Readers of yesterday’s post know it was another purchase from Pumpkin Junction.

Who doesn’t love a picture of a skeleton with a duck and Santa Claus peeking in?

I wanted to add one more skeleton picture.

OK, here is my story of today’s post. I invented the title first, meaning to share the picture I took, to show off the skull stopper and point out that, yes, I am once again drinking wine. Then I get confronted with this new editor, which I have been studiously and successfully avoiding thus far. So I have coped as best I can at the time.

The beauty part is that it is Non-Sequitur Thursday, so not making sense in fact makes sense. I will strive to make my peace with this editor. As always, I hope you’ll stay tuned.

Let There Be Lame!

I know I said yesterday was my Friday, but yet I am having Lame Post Friday today.  For one reason, I thought of that title, which fits in with a picture I just took.

Ducky likes wine!

We’ve seen the duck before, but the light was a Christmas present from my husband Steven.  He just finally got it placed in front of our fireplace,  replacing the Santa that previously resided there (who, us be late in taking down all our Christmas decorations?  SAY IT AIN’T SO! ).

I hope you are not uncomfortable seeing Christmas decorations in June.

Here is a view showing Santa, as well as some other seasonal decore.  We did get most of this taken down before 2020 was too far progressed.

Regular readers may remember the duck from other pictures, including one of my favorites.

Bonita is better dressed these days.

The picture was originally taken to highlight Bonita, our skellington (I was calling skeletons skellingtons LONG before Jack Skellington was a thing).  But I love that you see the duck grinning out of the box and Santa peeking around the corner.  That Santa stays there most of the year.  We usually put him out on the porch in December.

So this is my post of skellingtons, ducks, Santa and a light.  Sufficiently lame, I hope.  I also hope to see you all on Saturday, whatever sort of post it turns put to be.

Skeletons, Fashionable and Monstrous

This shall be a Monstrous Monday Post.  Should “post” be capitalized?  I think I have done it both ways.  Oh dear, I think it is becoming clear that this will be a very foolish post.  What else can one expect?  It is a very bad time for Mohawk Valley Adventures,  after all. But monster pictures, I can do. I hope.

“Oh woe! Oh anguish!”

Here is our skeleton,  Bonita, in a wrist to forehead pose.  That is pretty much how I am feeling these days, but there is no point in elaborating on the subject.

You didn’t think she had only one outfit, did you?

Here is Bonita in her current ensemble.  I am having trouble with the hat.  Bonita’s head is too small for most of my chapeaux.

However, this was meant to be a Monstrous Monday Post,  not a Skeleton Fashion Parade.  What else can I find in my Media Library?

“May I have this dance?”

Here is a monstrous skeleton from House on Haunted Hill, one of our favorite movies.

I must watch this one again.

I wanted to end on another monstrous skeleton,  and I am sure The Screaming Skull fits the bill.  I have it on DVD, in my collection of 50 Horror Classics, I believe.  It was also featured in an episode of Mystery Science Threatre 3000, one of our best beloved shows.

As I sign off, I am torn between Dateline on OWN, or a monster movie on DVD.  I feel sure either choice will be delightful.  Happy Monday, everyone!

No Regrets on Wrist to Forehead Sunday

Even skeletons have their moments of high drama.

After our skeleton Bonita slipped a little, I posed her so she could have a wrist to forehead moment.  Then I realized I must take a picture and use it for my Wrist to Forehead Sunday post.

As I mentioned in what should have been my Saturday post, we had a perfectly marvelous time last night.  I have a dreadful headache today.  Too much Chardonnay?  A continuation of my cold symptoms?  It matters not, I just hope it goes away soon.

Bonita in happier times.

I guess I don’t have a whole lot else to say.  Great time last night, headache today, here’s a skeleton.  Sounds like a typical blog post.

Some of the best friends anybody could have.

Here is a picture from last night at the Waterfront Grille in Herkimer with our friends.  I took more pictures, but most of them came out pretty dark.  And, foolishly, I did not have anyone take a picture of me.  There is only one selfie, and I am not good at selfies, especially after a couple of glasses of Chardonnay.

Oh well, I guess I might as well let you see me looking ridiculous.

I strive to go through life with no regrets.  That last glass of wine may have been a mistake, but no matter.  It was a lovely time, followed by a not bad Sunday.  Bring on Monday!  After a good night’s sleep,  of course.

Surely Everybody Loves Halloween

I do not want to get up early tomorrow and make a late post for today.  Surely I can manage a Friday Lame Post (and I will call you Shirley if I want to).

My allergies have been kicking my butt this week. I can’t be too upset about that, though, because it means fall is coming. I love fall!  After all, who needs to breathe?  And the lightheadedness?  I can handle that.  Bring on the colored leaves, pumpkin spice coffee, and HALLOWEEN!

I guess they went on the South Beach Diet.

Here is a shot from Pumpkin Junction in Sauquoit, NY.  I can’t wait to get back there again!

And here’s a friendly guy!

To continue the Halloween theme, here is an awesome decoration sent to me by my friend Marsha.  At least, she sent me the pot.  I added the orange stuff and vampire.

They look suspicious to me!

Here is a picture from a fall murder mystery, with a ghoulish theme.  We are working on a new murder mystery (preview of coming attractions).

I guess all I am going to do today is post pictures and write a sentence or two about them.  I find that appropriate for Lame Post Friday.

“Is this the blog post you wanted me for?”

I have not used a shot of Nosferatu in a while, have I?  I do love to close with my favorite.  Happy Friday, everyone.

Monsters and Shout-outs, What Day Is It?

What a way to start the new year!  Yesterday’s blog post was dumb and today I can’t even think of anything to write about!  Is 2019 the year I stop being a daily blogger?  SAY IT AIN’T SO!!!!  Then again, it is Wuss-out Wednesday.

Well, that was a lousy lead.  Where can I go from here?  I went back to work today and worked ten hours on my feet.  Um, I did not work on my feet, I stood on my feet while I worked at my job.  The first way sounds like I spent 10 hours giving myself a pedicure.  Imagine the toenails I could get that way!  But I digress.  The fact is, I am tired and somewhat brain dead.  I resorted to monsters yesterday and I am going to be bold enough to do it again today.  We can call it Mid-Week Monsters.  More Monsters at Mid-Week?  Titles are hard.

“Wasn’t I just here yesterday?”

Following yesterday’s dictum, I open with a vampire, Nosferatu to be exact.  I love that guy.

I should follow this guy’s example and have some coffee.   And go on a diet.

I took this fellow’s picture at the Old Barn Marketplace, on Route 5 in Little Falls, NY (you see I can multi-task: show monsters and give shout-outs to local businesses) .  Alas, they are closed for the season, but they will re-open in the spring.  I’ll be sure to visit them when they do, and write a blog post about it.

This is BEFORE he ate all of Margaret’s great treats!

Here’s a business that local readers can visit right away, the So Sweet Candy Cafe.  I don’t imagine the skeleton will be there before October, but you can find lots of yummy treats!  They are located on Varick Street in Utica, NY.

Well, this has not been a completely useless post after all.  I gave shout-outs to two local businesses and shared another picture of Nosferatu.  I wonder if I can find a peppy picture to close with and think of an appropriate title.

Sometimes even a monster has to relax.

This now seems more like a Non-Sequitur Thursday than a Wuss-out Wednesday post.  Well, it is one of those weeks where I can’t remember what day it is.

Bride and Bunny at the Barn

Saturday when we were out and about, I introduced Steven to a the Old Barn Marketplace, which I have been touting to all and sundry but had not been back to in a while.  I cleverly remembered my Tablet, so I have some pictures to share.

Obviously Mohawk Valley Girl would like this vendor.

There were new vendors which I was happy to check out.  I got two pictures of Mohawk Valley Candles

Ideas for Christmas presents already? I’m still waiting for Halloween!

I know a few people who would like wine glass or beer mug candles.  I personally love the look of the head of foam on the beer mugs.

There were vendors on both lofts.  I noticed a bride dress from below and happily went up to take a picture.

Not a corpse bride, but nice (yes, I still have Halloween on my mind).

As we went through one room, I pointed out to Steven where a skeleton had sat in October.  I think I still have a picture of him.

Taken last October, but I am always in the mood for skeletons.

No, the skeleton was not there last Saturday, but I will go in looking for him again in October.  I like skeletons.

The last thing I took a picture of was a bunny doll I saw.

Isn’t she nice? I love her ensemble.

We have two nice bunnies of our own.  I must share a picture of them and tell their story sometime.  I wonder if we ought to buy them a friend.  I’ll check for a price on this lovely lady the next time I stop in at the Old Barn Marketplace.

The Old Barn Marketplace is located at 6266 State Route 5, Little Falls, NY, phone number 315-508-5254.  They are open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.  You can Like them on Facebook.
