More a Scattered Post than a Scattered Sunday

I had a little trouble with WordPress over the weekend with the result that I last posted Friday morning (Thursday’s post, by the way) and it was not actually posted. It seems I neglected to click on something to confirm something, blah blah woof woof.  I am so in the wrong century.  The main thing I have gained from the computer era, and this occurred in the last century,  is the perfect summation of my life:  Operator Error.  One good thing is that I find myself perfectly set up for a Wrist to Forehead Sunday Post.

I’m the tough one brandishing the pitch fork.

However, rather than continuing to lament my ills, I wanted to share this blast from my past that showed up in my Facebook Memories.  It is Much Ado At the Zoo, when LiFT, Little Falls Theatre Company presented Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing at the Utica Zoo in 2016 (do I really need to tell anybody it is Shakespeare’s? Oh, I suppose I do).

Right now I should be studying my lines for Love’s Labour’s Lost, which we are doing this year (perhaps you read one of my blog posts about it).  I will read through them before I go to bed.

In other news, I went running this morning for the first time in two months.  It went pretty well. I enjoyed it.  I wanted to make a Running Commentary Post, only I did not solve my WordPress problems till later in the day, and the moment had passed.

I see I am over 250 words.  I think I will bill this as a Scattered Sunday.  I hope I have done all the right things and can continue to post on a daiy basis.  Then again, a little uncertainty adds interest to my life.  Happy Sunday, everyone!

Just Another Slacker Sunday

I tried to make a blog post earlier but once again ran afoul of my Media Library.  I said to hell with it and was going to trust my luck in the morning but decided to give it one more try.  Imagine my delight when I found I could select Classic Editor.  Will it help me make a better post? We shall see.

It has been something of a Slacker Sunday.  I went for a two mile walk but not till later in the morning.  Still later I did a load of laundry.  Just now I finally made my lunch for tomorrow.  Other than that, I watched movies and read a novel.

The post I started to write was a Sunday Cinema post, since we had enjoyed one of my favorites, Severed Head Sunday.  That was when I got bogged down searching my Media Library for pictures I was quite certain I had shared before.  Only after I failed to find them did I think, why should I repeat myself this way?  Obviously I have talked about these movies before.  Do I have anything new to say about them?  Quite possibly I do, but we will not find that out tonight.

So I guess this is yet another post about Why I Can’t Make a Blog Post Today.  Talk about repeating myself!  What the hell, me?  On the brighter side, I am over 200 words and tomorrow’s lunch is made.  That makes this less of a Wrist to Forehead Sunday.  I’ll just get back to dreading Monday.  Once again, thank you for tuning in.

Has It Really Been 11 Years?

Yesterday was my blogiversary, if that is a word (my autocorrect seems to think it is). Eleven years of being Mohawk Valley Girl (here is a Freudian predictive text: my Tablet suggested “self-indulgent” after “being”). I think ten years is a pretty good run, and I believe I was over that when I fell apart and began posting so sporadically (as usual, too lazy to go back and check).

I suppose it would be nice to do a State of the Blog Post or even a Look Back, remembering my not so humble beginnings (although I suffer from low self-esteem, I have never been what you might call humble). In fact, it would have been nice to post at all on my actual blogiversary. Instead, last night I began a kind of a whiny thing then gave it up and watched Dateline. In the interests of Waste Not Want Not, I include it here:

I was going to attempt a Monstrous Monday Post, but I was simultaneously trying to get answers to questions about my WordPress account. I find myself completely unable to do so. I daresay it is, as usual with me, a case of Operator Error. However, I also have to find fault with WordPress. They say that if I do not stay on WordPress, they will email me an answer, but I have yet to receive an email answer to any of my questions.

I suppose I only ask stupid questions anyways. They say there is no such thing as a stupid question, but that is just not true. However, that discussion will require a whole other blog post to answer.

I was just “talking to an expert.

That is where I left off. As you see, I did not even put the end quotation marks. When I reach a frustration level, that’s it.

Quite frankly, I suspect WordPress of using computer generated answers with a face tacked on pretending to be a person. What answers I have been able to get have that generic, not-really-listening quality. Of course automation has been the wave of the future since, well, most of recorded history. I use the automated check-out at the store sometimes myself.

One could argue that WordPress has millions of bloggers and individual attention is impossible. One could further argue that since I am still on the free level of blogging, it is not worth WordPress’ time to talk to me. To the second argument, I would point out that at the bottom of every post I make is an ad. I do not profit from the ad, but I suspect WordPress does, so free blogger though I am, I am not entirely a drag on WordPress’ bottom line.

I will add that I have always been reasonably happy with WordPress. I am aware that I am whining. It would probably be a good idea to just make the upgrade and either leave my questions unanswered or trust that amswers will eventually make themselves known.

In the meantime, I see I am over 500 words. Wow! What a long whine! Uh, I mean Post. Thank you to all my readers (if anybody read the whole thing), especially any that have been with me since the beginning (Hi, Aunt Mary!).

Remember When I Used to Plug Local Businesses?

As the oomph to blog daily continues to elude me, I interrupt my non-blogging days for what I hope will be a decent Throwback Thursday Post. I only hope my Tablet and Media Library will cooperate.

Sing it, Phil!

This is throwing back only to last December, and to a time when I was making more posts about authentic Mohawk Valley Adventures. It is, in case you did not recognize it, local musician Phil Arcuri rocking out at Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort, NY. We do still occasionally indulge in our Wednesday Night Thing.

So pretty!

This picture was taken a little longer ago, but Houle Flower Farm in Little Falls, NY may be looking similar these days. I must take a drive out and check.

Good dawg!

Ooh, here’s another local business I might like to go to again, the Saalty Dawg Saloon in Ilion, NY.

Will I go to these places again soon? More importantly, will I begin blogging about them on a daily basis? Will I figure out the WordPress upgrade and finally start posting new pictures again? For the answers to these and other questions of varying interest and importance, stay tuned to Mohawk Valley Girl. That’s me still, I hope.

Who, Me? Whine About Not Posting?

Once again I have let days elapse without making a blog post. The question now is can I make a Tired Tuesday Post without whining too much? I guess another question is how much whining is too much? If the answer is “any whining at all is too much,” I am in big trouble.

At the risk of whining too much (and sharing too much), I will share that I have been having a hard time doing much of anything these days. I make it to work. I manage to get one or two things done: a run, a load of laundry, a few fun things. But major and minor projects remain unfinished and un-worked-on. What the hell, me?

As I type this post (one letter at a time with the stylus on my Tablet), I am trying to have a conversation with “Ask the Expert” on WordPress. I am still hesitating on my upgrade and hope to get questions answered. So far I am not having much luck.

I am anxious to upgrade, because I keep wanting to share more pictures. However, I want to make sure the upgrade is right for me before I spend the money. Additionally, and perhaps more to the point, I worry that with my current lack of blogging reliability, it will not be worth the money to upgrade. Will the upgrade perhaps inspire me to return to my daily blogging ways? Can I take that chance?

I suppose I will take the leap soon and we will all see what the result will be. In the meantime, I am over 250 words. Let us not calculate how many of those were whining.

Operator Error on Wrist to Forehead Sunday

I am trying to post more often and feel I can manage a Wrist to Forehead Sunday Post. Or maybe not. Quick, put in a picture to pep things up.

Everything’s coming up rose`?

This is not the picture I was looking for, but it takes FOREVER to scroll through my Media Library. A problem with WordPress or with my Tablet? Or is it, as is often the case with me, Operator Error? However, the above picture is appropriate, because I did enjoy a glass of rose` earlier. The accent is wrong, but I do not know how to put on a proper accent. That is definitely Operator Error.

I know just how you feel, dear!

After searching the Media Library once again, the best image I can find is our skeleton Bonita having a wrist to forehead moment of her own. What can I do? The internet defeats me.

It seems odd to me that after over 10 years of writing this blog, technical difficulties are causing this much problem. I have clicked of the Ask The Expert option on my WordPress site, but apparently I did not do that right either. What the hell, me?

In any case, I think I have eked out at least 200 words from this nonsense. I will try again tomorrow. Maybe before I start on the rose`.

Claude Rains, Can You Help Me Now?

This is my third attempt at making a post tonight. I do not know if it is my Tablet or WordPress that is hampering me, but I hit the letters with the stylus, and sometimes nothing happens. It is very frustrating. In fact, I find it (wait for it) Monstrous! Yes! That brings us to Monstrous Monday.

A common sentiment, to be sure.

I still have not upgraded my WordPress site so cannot upload new photos. However, since I often rely on my Media Library for Monstrous Monday, I feel comfortable in doing so today. Full disclosure: I was disinclined to post at all. Then I said to myself, Am I a blogger or am I not a blogger? Since I wanted the answer to be “am,” I am posting.

I kind of know how he feels.

I might argue, although I am no hand at argument, that without the ability to upload new pictures, I am trying to function with my right arm cut off. It might be overly dramatic to make such an argument, but when has that ever stopped me?

The picture, by the way, is from The Brain That Wouldn’t Die. I know, it is not a picture of a monster, but it does show the monster’s handiwork. I felt free to stretch a point.

So poised. So suave.

If I had failed to post at all, I could be like the Invisible Man. I guess Claude Rains and I do not really have that much in common, even if I do stretch a point.

However, I see I have babbled myself over 250 words, and my one-letter-stylus-typing seems to be working all right. Score! I’ll work on getting that upgrade and try for another post on Tired Tuesday. Thank you for staying tuned.

I Guess It’s a Grey Area

Regular readers (I hope I still have some) may have noticed my sporadic posting lately. In my defense, I have no defense. I feel there is no point in offering a bunch of reasons or excuses (you may discuss amongst yourselves the philosophical difference between the two) (and here is a Freudian typo I would like explained: I put “philosophicalm” instead of “philosophical”).

Ooh, lost track of that sentence. But here’s a weird thing: as soon as I hit Return, the previous paragraph went light grey, as if it wasn’t really there. Is this a comment on the ephemeral nature of blogging and life in general? Again, discuss amongst yourselves.

Another return, another grey paragraph. I am not loving this, WordPress.

Isn’t she pretty?

I thought I would throw in a picture of Bonita and Bonaparte just to dress up the post. I seem to have gotten distracted by the grey paragraphs and lost track of where I was going with this post. I guess I just wanted to post something, anything.

As always, I will try for a better post next time, and I thank you for tuning in.

Monsters, Wine, or Whine?

Here I am, ready to make my Monstrous Monday Post. Will I be able to navigate my Media Library and find monster pictures to share? Will I be able to find new monster pictures? A little suspense adds interest to my post.

Here’s one of my favorites.

This was from my Media Library, shared as recently as March 1. First I looked at some of the free photos offered by WordPress. I found one I liked, but when I went to share it, I saw it had a caption telling who took the picture. I wasn’t clear on whether or not I was obligated to include this information so opted not to use the photo.

Who is this guy?

I liked the look of this one. A scary creature, an action shot, this peps up the post. I wish it would pep me up. I am so tired and wordless! I had a pretty crappy day. Of course most of my woes can be explained with the words Operator Error. So I must not complain.

Wait a minute! This isn’t a monster!

In fact, I have not had any wine this evening. I am sipping seltzer with lemon out of a wine glass, and that is almost as good. Additionally, I am not a fan of giving up. As the quote from the movie Galaxy Quest goes, “Never give up! Never surrender!”

However, perhaps the meme means to give it up for tonight, or to give up worrying about it. This calls for more philosophy than I am up for on a Monday. On the brighter side, I am over 250 words. I call that respectable. I’m going to shut up and hit Publish, before I really start to whine.

Better to Have Lamed and Lost

I can’t believe I haven’t used that title before. I just searched “Posts — All Posts” and did not find it. I no longer trust WordPress for much, but what the hell. It’s a title, I’ll use it.

I don’t say I will attach much of a blog post to it, but what are you going to do, even on Lame Post Friday.

That was as far as I got on actual Friday. Now it is 1:40 Saturday morning and I thought I would take advantage of my insomnia to finish this post. Not that I have any more brains now than I did last evening. Still blog posts must be made, because they are not there. And there’s a bit of half-baked philosophy for you.

I just tried to throw in a picture to pep things up and was once again defeated. I used to be able to zip around by the month. Now it seems I can only scroll down, and my Tablet rebels before I reach 2019. I really must improve my personal computer situation.

So this is my late Friday post: one tiny nugget of philosophy tucked into a bunch of whining about not being able to make a post. Suitably lame, I trust.
