At Least It’s a Post

My trials and tribulations with the cable company continue. I am lounged on my couch typing in one letter at a time with the stylus on my phone, not my Tablet, because I am currently off line. It seems I need new equipment to connect with the internet now that I cancelled cable television.

My first inkling of this was when I received a package from the cable company yesterday. I said, “What the hell is this?” They patiently explained things to me on the phone (which apparently and luckily was still working) (I should perhaps mention I have a landline as well as a cell) and scheduled a semi-convenient time for a tech to come hook me up.

My internet had been working earlier in the day, but it stopped sometime after said phone call. Yes, yes, these are first world problems. I am grateful that I still have my cell and can at least make some semblance of a post.

I must say, it is a little awkward posting this way. I don’t have the tool bar I am used to and I don’t see a word count. YES, these are first world problems, you don’t have to keep telling me! (You know who you are.)

I am just going to count this as a Tired Tuesday Post and drive on. Perhaps I can get to the library later and make my Wednesday post from a computer and on time. As always I hope you’ll stay tuned.

Have I Over-Used the Word “Monstrous”?

Since I did not have a Monstrous Monday,  I thought I would make a Mid-Week Monsters Post.  I feel moderately pleased with myself for making my Wednesday post on Wednesday.  It is Wednesday, isn’t it?  I get in such a time warp sometimes. My watch says it is Wednesday.  Phew!

Wait, why am I saying, “Phew!”?  It is still only half-way through the week!

Am I over the hump?

I guess these are not monsters, but they have to do with a great monster in the movie Young Frankenstein.  It took me a while to find this in my Media Library.  I need to index that thing.  And maybe find some new monster pictures.

Puttin’ on the Ritz!

Well, that took a long time!  I searched for a new monster picture, sticking with Young Frankenstein.  I don’t know which took longer, searching my Media Library or searching for something new.  This is monstrous!

I went back to my Media Library but could not find anything from Young Frankenstein and could not settle on anything else.  My indecisiveness continues to plague me.

Perhaps I am rather monstrous.

As in an earlier blog post, I went another way.  I was unsuccessful in downloading a new photo (although I did find one).  Then I could barely decide on something from the now infamous Media Library. Now my Tablet’s charge is getting low.  What a monstrous time I am having!  But as usual in my life, the problem is operator error.  I neglected to plug in said Tablet earlier.

On the brighter side, I am over 250 words.  And three pictures.  Not too monstrous, I hope.

Wuss-out, Wayback, Wordless, It’s Not Even Wednesday Anymore!

So I wussed out on Wuss-out Wednesday, not making a post at all. No excuses; as I often say, explanations are tiresome (I know this, because I usually try to explain things and it is almost always tiresome) (for me as well as the listener).  As I prepare for a 12-hour day (don’t ask), I thought I would attempt some semblance of a blog post, since I will no doubt be too tired to do so later.  I was thinking Way-back Wednesday when I had the heady thought, Wordless Wednesday.  Just pictures!  I can shut up!

As if I ever do that!

Just to put you in the picture: I am ten-finger typing on my dining-room-table-top (which regular readers may recall began life as an ordinary laptop).  I thought it would be quicker, but this computer takes forever to boot up and for any pages to open up.  Yikes!  It is sheer relief that I am sitting here typing and not watching one of those little circles swirling, swirling…

But I digress.

Alas, not my New Year’s Eve outfit.

I believe I wore this fabulous ensemble to the Ilion Little Theatre Christmas party in 2016.  Then again, I had a more active social life in those days, so I may have been going somewhere else.  Now that I look at it again, all I can see is the clutter at the bottom of the stairs.  Perhaps if I had not said anything, some people would not have noticed. Oh well, I have never denied the fact that I am a lousy housekeeper.

I see I have blathered on for over 250 words.  Score!  If I wuss out again this evening (which, full disclosure, I fully expect to do),  perhaps I could manage a Non-Sequitur Thursday post tomorrow.  As always, I hope you’ll stay tuned.

More a Scattered Post than a Scattered Sunday

I had a little trouble with WordPress over the weekend with the result that I last posted Friday morning (Thursday’s post, by the way) and it was not actually posted. It seems I neglected to click on something to confirm something, blah blah woof woof.  I am so in the wrong century.  The main thing I have gained from the computer era, and this occurred in the last century,  is the perfect summation of my life:  Operator Error.  One good thing is that I find myself perfectly set up for a Wrist to Forehead Sunday Post.

I’m the tough one brandishing the pitch fork.

However, rather than continuing to lament my ills, I wanted to share this blast from my past that showed up in my Facebook Memories.  It is Much Ado At the Zoo, when LiFT, Little Falls Theatre Company presented Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing at the Utica Zoo in 2016 (do I really need to tell anybody it is Shakespeare’s? Oh, I suppose I do).

Right now I should be studying my lines for Love’s Labour’s Lost, which we are doing this year (perhaps you read one of my blog posts about it).  I will read through them before I go to bed.

In other news, I went running this morning for the first time in two months.  It went pretty well. I enjoyed it.  I wanted to make a Running Commentary Post, only I did not solve my WordPress problems till later in the day, and the moment had passed.

I see I am over 250 words.  I think I will bill this as a Scattered Sunday.  I hope I have done all the right things and can continue to post on a daiy basis.  Then again, a little uncertainty adds interest to my life.  Happy Sunday, everyone!

I Got Shakespeare on Cloudy Day! Or Do I?

I want to share a few more pictures from Wednesday night’s rehearsal of Love’s Labour’s Lost with LiFT, Little Falls Theatre Company.  Full disclosure: I mostly decided to do this post because I thought of that title while I was on this morning’s walk.  I should also fully disclose that, yes, I am again late, making Thursday’s post early Friday morning.  Come, gentle coffee, enhance my meagre brain with thy magic!

Now what!  I just added that picture and I can’t get the cursor to go beyond the caption!  Every time I put the cursor at the end of the caption and hit Enter, the cursor jumps back to the end of the preceding paragraph.  I guess the coffee is not enhancing my brain very well.

He looks tough, but I hear he speaks the mere contrary.

Well, I don’t know how I did that, but here I am below the picture, typing words.  And I forgot what all I was going to say about the other night’s rehearsal.  Incidentally, my original title for this post was “I Got Shakespeare on a Cloudy Day.”  I added “Or Do I?”  when I started to have such troubles with it.  I am certain all my tribulations are a result of Operator Error, as usual, a rather lowering thought.

Another comic pair.

Ooh, here I am below the picture without even trying.  If only I knew what I did when I do something right!  In any case, here I am over 200 words and needing more coffee.  I’m going to bill this as a Non-Sequitur Thursday, hit Publish, and hope for the best.  I hope to see you all later, when I hope to make my Lame Post Friday post on time.

Oh, OK, one more picture!

I Still Feel Monstrous

Monday was a true Blogger’ Sick Day. I will spare you the sordid details, but I left work early and spent most of the rest of the afternoon and evening in bed. I do not feel a whole lot better today, but a cup of hot tea seems to be helping. I will feel better mentally if I manage to make some semblance of blog post.

I went for a shortened walk this morning. I thought the fresh air would do me good, but the humidity rendered the air heavy. It also started to rain. That was all right with me. I needed the extra time to send a couple of emails, make this blog post, and fix today’s lunch (I’m going to make things easy on myself there and bring one of those instant soup cups). The emails have been sent, and now I must think of something at least mildly entertaining to type (I am on the laptop, using all ten fingers, yes!).

Guess which one I feel like today.

Since I missed my Monstrous Monday post, I took a chance and checked my Media Library for a monster picture to share. Sunday when I was looking for pictures for a Sunday Cinema post, I seemed to be missing a number of photos I remember using before, so I was worried some monsters would be missing as well. I am delighted to find my favorite, Nosferatu.

Not exactly a monster, but pretty monstrous.

Well, now what have I done? I can’t get out of the caption mode and back into the blog!
I’m sure it must be Operator Error, the story of my life, but I cannot deal with it right now. Hell, I’m over 250 words on a late blogger’s sick day. I’m going to call it a post.

Just Another Slacker Sunday

I tried to make a blog post earlier but once again ran afoul of my Media Library.  I said to hell with it and was going to trust my luck in the morning but decided to give it one more try.  Imagine my delight when I found I could select Classic Editor.  Will it help me make a better post? We shall see.

It has been something of a Slacker Sunday.  I went for a two mile walk but not till later in the morning.  Still later I did a load of laundry.  Just now I finally made my lunch for tomorrow.  Other than that, I watched movies and read a novel.

The post I started to write was a Sunday Cinema post, since we had enjoyed one of my favorites, Severed Head Sunday.  That was when I got bogged down searching my Media Library for pictures I was quite certain I had shared before.  Only after I failed to find them did I think, why should I repeat myself this way?  Obviously I have talked about these movies before.  Do I have anything new to say about them?  Quite possibly I do, but we will not find that out tonight.

So I guess this is yet another post about Why I Can’t Make a Blog Post Today.  Talk about repeating myself!  What the hell, me?  On the brighter side, I am over 200 words and tomorrow’s lunch is made.  That makes this less of a Wrist to Forehead Sunday.  I’ll just get back to dreading Monday.  Once again, thank you for tuning in.

Not a Promising Blog Post

What the hell? I just typed in about two paragraphs worth of words, and they are nowhere to be seen!

That is what I ten-finger typed on my laptop (regular readers may recall that now it is exclusively a dining-room-tabletop) after attempting to make a Pre-Rehearsal Post. With the laptop there tends to be a delay, especially when I type fast, as I often do. So I just let my fingers fly then wait for the words to magically appear. Today they did not. In frustration, I typed in the preceding paragraph and gave it up till after rehearsal.

Now it is after rehearsal, and I am reclined in by bed, pecking in one letter at a time with the stylus on my Tablet, which is what I have sadly become used to doing. I am also sadly becoming used to making post after post about, well, nothing in particular. I must do something about that, but I can’t seem to think of any steps I can take right now.

The best thing I can think to do is bill it as a Tired Tuesday Post and hope that tomorrow I can come up with something better than Wuss-Out Wednesday. But as regular readers know, I never make promises about these things.

I’m Feeling a Little Cantankerous Myself

I was about to make this week’s Monstrous Monday Post, and my Tablet is behaving in a most cantankerous fashion. I did say that all my problems are of the First World variety, did I not? Well, I will try to make the post. No promises.

Doesn’t anybody have a can of Raid?

Here is Joan Collins, having a rather bad time of it in Empire of the Ants. I seem to recall enjoying that movie a lot more than I enjoyed Them, the other famous giant ant flick. Does Them have an exclamation point? Them? Note to self: look that up when the Tablet is behaving itself.

Where did he get that manicure?

I do like to include my favorite, Nosferatu. He is so delightfully creepy. I must watch that movie again. Only it is problematic, because it is a silent movie. I cannot easily knit or crochet during a silent movie.

Young love, ain’t it grand?

I don’t know what I was looking for, but I over-scrolled in my Media Library and it began to freeze up. I was able to grab the monster and his bride and get out before anything untoward happened.

Well, that makes three pictures, which is my usual quota, and at least 200 words. I say, Score! Once again, I shall get out before anything untoward happens.

Has It Really Been 11 Years?

Yesterday was my blogiversary, if that is a word (my autocorrect seems to think it is). Eleven years of being Mohawk Valley Girl (here is a Freudian predictive text: my Tablet suggested “self-indulgent” after “being”). I think ten years is a pretty good run, and I believe I was over that when I fell apart and began posting so sporadically (as usual, too lazy to go back and check).

I suppose it would be nice to do a State of the Blog Post or even a Look Back, remembering my not so humble beginnings (although I suffer from low self-esteem, I have never been what you might call humble). In fact, it would have been nice to post at all on my actual blogiversary. Instead, last night I began a kind of a whiny thing then gave it up and watched Dateline. In the interests of Waste Not Want Not, I include it here:

I was going to attempt a Monstrous Monday Post, but I was simultaneously trying to get answers to questions about my WordPress account. I find myself completely unable to do so. I daresay it is, as usual with me, a case of Operator Error. However, I also have to find fault with WordPress. They say that if I do not stay on WordPress, they will email me an answer, but I have yet to receive an email answer to any of my questions.

I suppose I only ask stupid questions anyways. They say there is no such thing as a stupid question, but that is just not true. However, that discussion will require a whole other blog post to answer.

I was just “talking to an expert.

That is where I left off. As you see, I did not even put the end quotation marks. When I reach a frustration level, that’s it.

Quite frankly, I suspect WordPress of using computer generated answers with a face tacked on pretending to be a person. What answers I have been able to get have that generic, not-really-listening quality. Of course automation has been the wave of the future since, well, most of recorded history. I use the automated check-out at the store sometimes myself.

One could argue that WordPress has millions of bloggers and individual attention is impossible. One could further argue that since I am still on the free level of blogging, it is not worth WordPress’ time to talk to me. To the second argument, I would point out that at the bottom of every post I make is an ad. I do not profit from the ad, but I suspect WordPress does, so free blogger though I am, I am not entirely a drag on WordPress’ bottom line.

I will add that I have always been reasonably happy with WordPress. I am aware that I am whining. It would probably be a good idea to just make the upgrade and either leave my questions unanswered or trust that amswers will eventually make themselves known.

In the meantime, I see I am over 500 words. Wow! What a long whine! Uh, I mean Post. Thank you to all my readers (if anybody read the whole thing), especially any that have been with me since the beginning (Hi, Aunt Mary!).
