Post-Wine Post

I have not had much wine, but I thought the title would be a good follow-up to a Pre-Coffee Post.  This, I fear, will be another post where I just rattle on for 200 words or so.  I am battling depression but trying not to whine too much about it.  After all, everybody has problems.

Not enough gas to outrun Monday!

I guess I can bill this as a Wrist to Forehead Sunday Post.  I don’t really feel that horrified by Monday, but it cannot be denied that the weekend is more fun.  This past weekend I drove into Rome, NY, to my parents’ house, where two out of three sisters  were also visiting.

Returning to Herkimer this morning, I made a stop to purchase ice melt then parked on the street while I shoveled some of the snow in my driveway.  I did not make great progress, but I got the car in without any trouble.  Phew!

Scary!

The cold air had given me a bit of a sinus headache, so I heated up my face thing and laid down for a while.  It seemed to help.  This afternoon I watched War of the Gargantuas on Svengoolie.  I have several episodes of Svengoolie on my DVR.  I bet some of you thought that picture was a graphic depiction of my headache.  I can see where one might think that.  While I watched, I heated up some leftovers for dinner.

Bearing in mind that doing something, anything can alleviate depression, I fixed tomorrow’s lunch, did the dishes, and laid out my Monday work outfit.  Now I am kind of sort of looking at Snapped while I make a blog post.

I haven’t reached mine yet.

Since I titled this Post-Wine Post, do you suppose it would be OK if I had some Post-Post Wine?  Discuss amongst yourselves.

Souls, Swoon, Snapped, It’s Sunday

There I was, so proud of myself for making my Friday post on Friday, then I did not post at all on Saturday and here I am on Sunday, no blog post and very little brain to come up with one.  How dreadfully irresponsible of me.  I guess it is a Wrist to Forehead Sunday,  because I do feel rather inclined to swoon, dramatically posed with the back of one wrist to my forehead, onto a handy chaise lounge.  Why do I not have a chaise lounge?

An evocative poster, no?

My husband, Steve, and I did watch a couple of movies, one of my favorite things to do on a Sunday.  I wanted to see Carnival of Souls.  It is so unsettling with very few special effects, a testimony to what can be accomplished on a small budget.

A haunting image.

I throw in another image for good measure.  When this moment happened in the movie, I drew Steve’s attention to it.  I knew I had seen a still of it.  I got these images, by the way, from a Carnival of Souls Facebbok fan page.

We are now looking at an episode of Snapped.  Sunday’s are for Snapped, according to the Oxygen Facebook page, but I don’t mind catching an episode or two any day of the week.

Luckily I have not reached mine yet.

I see I am over 200 words.  Score!  I guess I don’t have to swoon after all.

A 4th of July-ish Post

I am looking at the Snapped 4th of July Marathon on Oxygen and wishing I had some red, white and blue monsters to share, because, you know, Monstrous Monday. I have done nothing blogworthy today, although I suppose I could write about the two mile walk I took this morning. No endorphins were forthcoming.

I spent some time cleaning my house, with a few noticeable results, did a load of laundry, made a salad for the week’s lunches, fixed tomorrow’s lunch. I don’t know why I list all this, except that I find I have pathetically little to say.

A great memory.

I went to my Media Library, hoping to find a picture to pep up the post, and found this gem from July 2017. It is me and my late, greatly missed friend Phyllis, at Gerber’s 1933 Tavern in Utica, NY. I guess that makes this a Monday Memories post. Since the chairs are red and there is blue in my garment (not really sure what to call it) and Phyllis’ jeans, it is vaguely 4th of July-ish. I say it’s at least as Independence Day-y as a true crime show about women who kill.

Who, me? Have a breaking point?

I continue to watch Snapped as I write this, and even took a break to cook and eat some hot dogs. Hot dogs are 4th of July-ish.

Bonita’s boyfriend?

To end on a 4th of July monster, here is a picture I took on July 4, 2021, at Phyllis and Jim’s house. I think I have covered all the bases now: monsters, memories, 4th of July, and I am over 250 words. I say not bad for a Monday holiday post.

Snapped, Svengoolie, and Still Sluggish on Sunday

I also watched Columbo, but it would not have been alliterative to use in the title. I am looking at another episode of Columbo as I type this (one letter at a time with the stylus; I really must get a new laptop), but I am more concerned to get this posted and get to bed. I like to go to bed early on a Sunday.

“One more thing!”

I went for a walk instead of a run again this morning. It occurred to me I could start doing Pedestrian Posts instead of Running Commentaries. Had I but thought to do that earlier, I could be paying more attention to Columbo now. This episode features quite the clever plan.

It’s been a favorite for years.

I have been more into movies than Snapped on Sundays lately, but today true crime called to me. I took a break to enjoy a DVR’d episode of Svengoolie. The Monolith Monsters. I find those old horror movies so fun.

I’m also a sucker for his corny jokes.

As you may guess from the desultory nature of this post, I am still feeling sluggish today. Oddly enough, I have not taken any decongestants, just some ibuprofen for my hip. Perhaps my chronic insomnia is catching up with me. But just listen to me whine about my aches and pains! I mean, don’t listen to me! My problems are all of the first world variety, and I will shut up about them.

In the meantime, I am approaching 250. I consider that more than adequate for a Wrist to Forehead Sunday post.

Now I Lame Me Down to Sleep

I don’t really have anything to make a post about today. I just now sat here trying to think of a quote or saying or something that I could slip “lame” into for Lame Post Friday, and finally came up with the above title. I was thinking about going to bed soon. However, it is earlier than I thought it was. Additionally, I like to make a blog post.

Mmmmm… wine…

Yes, I am enjoying a glass of white wine. I found the above picture in my Media Library. I have not seen wine from Domhnall Vineyard in a long time. I hope they are still in business. I loved their Baco Noir. As for that picture, it looks like the glass has water and novelty ice cubes in it, the kind with fake bugs. I can’t really tell and am not sure how to research the matter.

Ah yes, snow.

I add a wintery picture for good measure. We got a goodly amount of snow earlier this week. I walked to work a couple of times, sometimes in the road, which was slightly more clear than the sidewalk. Today was mostly cold, so that was alright to drive in.

No, it’s not Sunday; this was the easiest logo to find.

I am currently looking at an episode of Snapped. I truly cannot get enough murder and mayhem.

I just thought of a better title for today’s post: “Don’t Wine About the Snow; Watch Some TV!” It does not use the word “lame,” but I feel sure my readers would get the idea. No matter. I have made some semblance of a blog post. I feel reasonably content. Happy Friday, all.

Fresh as a Nosegay on Lame Post Friday

At work today, I told a couple of co-workers about the Recency Romance I read where the heroine had a glass of wine with dinner and felt “fresh as a nosegay.” I believe I have mentioned that in this space as well.

“So sometimes I say to my husband, ‘Dear, will you bring me a glass of wine so I can feel fresh as a nosegay?’ ” I said. I had to tell one co-worker that a nosegay is a small bouquet.

Me, feeling fresh as a nosegay.

That is not me at home, but you get the idea.

By the way, this is indeed Lame Post Friday, so I am just going to make a few silly remarks, then hit Publish and watch a DVR’d episode of Svengoolie.

He’s our date.

Right now we are watching Snapped, and before that a couple of episodes of Forensic Files. There is nothing like starting your Friday night with a little murder and mayhem!

We are not drinking our wine out of coffee mugs.

Ooh! Ooh! I just realized: the Snapped we are watching concerns a case we saw recently on Forensic Files! I love it when that happens! I am having a very enjoyable Friday night. I hope you are feeling fresh as a nosegay yourself.

Snapped to Svengoolie to Snapped

This has not been a blogworthy Sunday. I spent a good portion of the morning dithering about what best to do. Finally I put in a load of laundry and went for a run (one of my few instances of multi-tasking). I went to the grocery store. I fixed dinner (late lunch, early supper). And I watched TV and crocheted.

Um, the one we’re watching right now is not so new.

Of course, Sunday and Snapped go together. Just ask the folks at Oxygen. I just loves me some murder and mayhem. I alternately crocheted and cooked while we watched. When I was done running out to the kitchen, we put on a DVR’d Svengoolie.

He’s so cool.

We saw Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman starring Lon Chaney Jr. and Bela Lugosi, among others.

I don’t think the original release was a Castle film, was it?

I want to start doing my movie write-ups again. They did not get as much blogger love as other posts (I am a well-known Like junkie), but I so enjoyed writing them. Perhaps I will see what I can come up with for Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman. At least it will be a change from Why I Can’t Make a Blog Post.

I see I am over 200 words. Phew! It is nice to meet the standard. And I am in time to watch this week’s So New episode of Snapped. Happy Sunday, everyone.

I Take a Break from Murder

Can you feel the sexual tension?

I glance down from the movie to my Tablet to make my blog post. It is Double Indemnity, a favorite of ours. Before that we looked at several episodes of Snapped, most of which dealt with a woman killing her husband. Do you sense a pattern here?

I could use a cup of coffee.

I searched through my Media Library for the picture of Double Indemnity. I did not feel like doing the same for a Snapped logo, so I went to Facebook and found the above photo. Steve and I have plenty of coffee mugs, but I would not say no to one of those.

As you may guess, I do not have much to talk about today. I did not spend the day following my advice from yesterday of Do Something, Anything. I went running, so at least I got some exercise. And now I have made some semblance of a blog post. I guess I’ll call this a Wrist to Forehead Sunday Post and drive on.

I hope to see you all again on Monstrous Monday.

It’s Not COVID!

Although that would make me relevant to current headlines, wouldn’t it? See, you can find an upside to anything. My upside right now is, it is just a cold, it will be over soon. My downside is, this will be another not very good blog post. But as regular readers know, I like to post every day, so let’s see what I can come up with.

I haven’t reached mine yet, but stay tuned.

I have been spending most of the weekend watching Snapped on Oxygen. Today is the Greed Marathon. Earlier this week was the Ex-Best Friends Marathon. They probably had a different marathon every day, because they were working up to some landmark episode, but alas, I did not make a note of them.

“You’re sick? Get back!”

I have long bought into the mentality that when you’re sick, you have to just keep going as best you can.  Of course, there have been times when I said, no, dammit, I need to take a day to nurse myself!  But I never thought too much about keeping my germs to myself.  In my defense, my bosses were not too worried about it either.  “Get yourself in here! You have to work!”  is what a distressing number of them said.

But the times they are a-changing, as the song goes.  I feel sick?  I am doing the right thing to stay home alone and watch Snapped!  However, as my headline says, it is not COVID.  I took my temperature, and I don’t have most of the symptoms. This is good news for me.  I should feel fine in another day or so.  Then I will be out of the house,  on job seeking and bloggable adventures!   As always, I hope you’ll stay tuned.
