Memories of Murder

How about a Throwback Thursday Post?  I make it a question, because I am not sure I will be able to actually make the post.  I make it to work these days.  Beyond that,  no promises.

We’ve seen this suspicious bunch before.

I wanted to throw back to murder mysteries, because I was working on another one today.  The above picture is from A G.R.A.V.E. Murder, which we presented a few years ago to benefit Herkimer County Historical Society.  It was a very fun show.

Another shot from that show.

I realized the first picture did not include our friend Jim, who had a pivotal role in the show.  I guess all the roles were pivotal; I just like to use that word to describe acting roles.

A dramatic moment.

Here is a rehearsal shot from another murder mystery, whose title escapes me.  How embarrassing! Then again, I can’t remember everything.

Don’t we all look pretty?

I remember the title of this one: Fabulous and Fatal.  It will always be one of my favorite scripts.

It was a work in progress.

This is a shot from a read-through for Donate to Murder, which also benefited Herkimer County Historical Society.  Eventually.  This picture was taken in March 2020, right before the COVID shit hit the fan.  The show was postponed and had a different cast when it was finally performed.

Regular readers will notice my late husband, Steve, in a few of these pictures.  I so loved working with him. Treasured memories.  I hope it made for a good blog post.

Luckily, Blog Posts Don’t Have To Be Perfect

Today is a Blogger’s Sick Day.  That is when I spend a few words whining about how terrible I feel and call it a post.  Maybe I could share a few pictures to pep things up, maybe get a little Throwback Thursday into the mix.

A suspicious bunch indeed.

I looked in my Media Library at September 2017 and found this delightful shot.  It is members of LiFT,  Little Falls Theatre Company, at the Ritz and Ragtime fundraiser for the Landmarks Society of Greater Utica.  I wish they would do one of those again.  I have a couple more 1920’s outfits to choose from.

More theatre fun!

This was in September 2018, Donate to Murder at the Herkimer Elks Club.  It was an interactive murder mystery which I just happened to write.  I need to start writing again.

Good advice for me.

I need to make this my mantra.  I could hang it on my wall.  Or maybe tattoo it on my forehead, backwards, of course, so I could read it every time I look in the mirror.  Unfortunately,  or perhaps fortunately,  my forehead is not that big.

In the meantime, it seems I have managed to make a blog post in spite of feeling rather ill.  Perhaps it is not a very good blog post, but you’ll have that.  I am going to try for some sleep, and a better blog post tomorrow.  As always, thank you for tuning in.

Shout-out to Steve

I wussed out on Wednesday by not making a post at all, but that’s OK, because now it is Thursday, March 3, my husband Steven’s birthday! I will do a Shout-out to Steve! And it will be a Wordless Wednesday Post using pictures from my Media Library.

I wish we’d see them again!

Here are Steve and I (we’re on the right) with a fun couple we had just met at Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort, NY. Hey, we have not been there in a while. We shall have to remedy the omission.

Fun with friends is always a good idea.

Here is Steve with our friend Jenna, at Rock Valley Brewing (formerly known as Iron Rock Brewing) in Little Falls. That is another place we need to go again.

Did Steve do it?

Here was a night we had a lot of fun! It was Donate to Murder, the murder mystery we presented to benefit the Herkimer County Historical Society. We may be doing another murder mystery soon (preview of coming attractions).

I love that moose!

I wanted to end with a picture of Steve and me. This is us at Copper Moose Ale House in Little Falls. Copper Moose recently re-opened, so that is another place we will have to go.

I guess I have managed to give a few brief shout-outs in addition to my Shout-out to Steve. Yay! And Happy Birthday, Steve!

Post Murder Post

Do I have the mental wherewithal for a Wrist to Forehead Sunday Post? I see my Tablet is at 37% power. I feel a little below that myself.

Our murder mystery went very well. We were down an actor due to an untimely intestinal ailment (as if there is ever a good time for an intestinal ailment). We divied up his lines and somehow made it work. The audience liked us.

I’d suspect this bunch of something!

This is an after performance cast picture. We felt happy and relieved that things had gone so well.

So I feel tired and drained today. We got to bed later than usual, and I did not sleep in. I went for a short run in the cold air. It did not feel bad, but my energy and ambition went downhill from there.

I often get to the end of a murder mystery or play vowing I will never do another. I don’t think anyone believes me. But I am not starting another one right away. Right now I think I will swoon, dramatically posed with the back of one wrist on my forehead. If only I had a chaise lounge.

A Post Before Murder

OK, I do not have time for a Scattered Saturday Post before heading out to our murder mystery. For one reason, I want to touch up my hair.

Oh dear, I am looking old. No matter.

For another reason, I just now found out we must drive ourselves. That is OK; I know how to drive. And I know how to put on a murder mystery! I hope my next blog post will be to report on our resounding success! As always, I hope you’ll stay tuned.

Late Post, Tired Shout-out

So I did pretty good for a few days at posting every day, then last night I went to bed unblogged. In my defense I voted and had rehearsal. Additionally, I got very little sleep Monday night and had a frustrating day at work. Then again my work day could have been worse, and I slept better last night. Under the heading Count My Blessings.

Where was I? Ah yes, making Late Tired Tuesday Post. How about a brief shout-out for our murder mystery, which is this Saturday (yikes!).

These posters are up all over town.

Donate to Murder, written by me by the way, is interactive dinner theatre, in which the audience gets to meet the characters, ask questions and try to solve the mystery, while enjoying a delicious meal catered by Dominick’s Deli. The event, which is a benefit for the Herkimer County Historical Society, takes place at Herkimer Elks Lodge, doors open at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6:30 p.m.

I guess all the information in the preceding paragraph is in the poster. I guess I’m still a little tired.

Oh Yeah, the Murder Mystery!

I had meant to make a Post Rehearsal Post last night, but I was too tired (you know, Tired Tuesday). I also meant to take a few pictures at rehearsal, but, well, I forgot. Oh dear.

I think it’s a nice poster.

Steven and I were delighted to see the above flier on WKTV’s Morning Mug Club yesterday morning. I have not heard how ticket sales are going, but a lot of people have expressed interest.

Rehearsal went pretty well. I think we need a little more work on lines, but we’re getting there. I, personally, am trying to learn everybody’s lines, so I can help if there’s a problem during performance. One would think this would be easy for me, since I wrote the whole thing. What, am I supposed to remember everything I ever wrote? That would be difficult, especially since I continually strive to write more of everything.

I guess you can read all the information in the poster (I’m having a little trouble with the Preview function on my Tablet) (imagine that: me having trouble with an electronic device! Say it ain’t so!), but in case you can’t: Donate to Murder, interactive dinner theatre, will be presented to benefit Herkimer County Historical Society on Saturday, Nov. 6, at the Herkimer Elks Lodge. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $35, available at the Historical Society or by calling 315-866-6413.

I’m ACTING!

I have missed theatre! Last night, I took another step closer to returning to the stage when I attended a second rehearsal for an upcoming murder mystery!

Donate to Murder was originally scheduled for spring of 2020, as a fundraiser for the Herkimer County Historical Society. We all know how that went! It is finally back on, Saturday, Nov. 6 at the Herkimer Elks Lodge.

This is the poster.

We had to make a couple of cast changes from the original, but rehearsals are going well. We are rehearsing at the Elks Lodge. Those Elks are so nice! It is always better to rehearse in the actual performance space. A few more props to gather, a few more lines to learn, and we are in business. Show business!

I try to take a few pictures at our next rehearsal. In the meantime, I just wanted to briefly express my delight about acting once again!

On Second Thought, It Is More Like Wuss-out Wednesday

I promised myself a Mid-week Monsters post.  Unfortunately, right now I feel too tired to do any kind of a post at all. No, no!  I must not go back to writing posts about Why I Can’t Write A Post Today!

“Oh no! I have to do a blog post!”

Here is our skeleton Bonita, having a wrist to forehead moment.  I have been having a number of those moments lately.  But I try to carry on as best as I can.  Rehearsal last night went very well, by the way.  I have a great cast!

Not a monster.

I just love this picture of my friend Tucker as Renwick Spaulding, the bug loving murder suspect in Donate to Murder, which we rehearsed last night.  Thus I stray from my Mid-week Monsters theme but at least I am talking about something.  Does that make this Non-Sequitur Wednesday?

I don’t t like the way he’s looking at me.

I return to monsters with this handsome fellow. Love the neck bolts.

I have long had the rule to make my blog posts at least 200 words long.  I don’t know where I got that number, but I’m thinking I may not make it today.  Oops, I just did by wondering if I would.  Does that count?  I don’t care if it does or not; I’m going to bed.

My bed is a little bigger than this.

Happy Wednesday, everyone.

Here’s a Suspicious Bunch!

This is another Pre-Rehearsal Post.  The rehearsal is for Donate to Murder, which I believe I have mentioned before.

Here we are at the read-through.

Before the read-through, I took a few mug shots of the suspects.

She appears to be a loving Flower Child, but appearances can be decieving!

He looks so friendly, you’d never know he was such a stinker. Did I say that in my out loud voice?

He looks suspicious! Or is he looking suspiciously at me?

WAY too handsome to be a murderer! (Yes, that’s my husband, why do you ask?)

Our friend Kim was late, so I did not take her picture.  I bet I have one in my Media Library.

Maybe they’re in it together! Say it ain’t so!

So the only suspect I haven’t shown today is me.  Oh, all right, I’ll find a picture of me!

Clearly this woman is not to be trusted.

I will not look like this in my costume, although I may have such a silly grin on my face.  I can’t always help the doofy faces I make (although sometimes I do it on purpose).

I guess I haven’t said much about the mystery itself.  Right now I will just say Donate to Murder is Friday, March 27 at the Travelodge in Little Falls.  For more information, contact the Herkimer County Historical Society at 315-866-6413.
