Remember When I Used to Plug Local Businesses?

As the oomph to blog daily continues to elude me, I interrupt my non-blogging days for what I hope will be a decent Throwback Thursday Post. I only hope my Tablet and Media Library will cooperate.

Sing it, Phil!

This is throwing back only to last December, and to a time when I was making more posts about authentic Mohawk Valley Adventures. It is, in case you did not recognize it, local musician Phil Arcuri rocking out at Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort, NY. We do still occasionally indulge in our Wednesday Night Thing.

So pretty!

This picture was taken a little longer ago, but Houle Flower Farm in Little Falls, NY may be looking similar these days. I must take a drive out and check.

Good dawg!

Ooh, here’s another local business I might like to go to again, the Saalty Dawg Saloon in Ilion, NY.

Will I go to these places again soon? More importantly, will I begin blogging about them on a daily basis? Will I figure out the WordPress upgrade and finally start posting new pictures again? For the answers to these and other questions of varying interest and importance, stay tuned to Mohawk Valley Girl. That’s me still, I hope.

Yes, Wednesday is Still a Thing

So I had a true Wuss-out Wednesday yesterday and did not post at all. These things happen, of course. What happened was this:

I came home from work and said to my husband, Steve, “Four words: Phil Arcuri at Fratello’s.” That was all it took to get him off the loveseat and into respectable clothes.

Since the music would not start till six, I took the time to go for a run. At no time do I run either very far or very fast, but yesterday was even worse than expected. For one reason, I had underestimated the wind chill and not dressed appropriately. Yikes! But I persevered for what I considered the bare minimum. Then I showered and put on a cute outfit. It was time for fun!

We found a handy parking space and seats on the bar. Phil came over and said hello. He is such a great guy! The bartender, Gino, took good care of us. Steve got popcorn chicken and we split a 12-inch garlic bread with mozzarella. I hesitated over which chicken salad I wanted.

“Grilled chicken is more sensible,” I said, “but the Buffalo chicken is so delicious.” Gino suggested I get the Buffalo Chicken Salad with grilled chicken. Genius! I added black olives and asked for parmesan-peppercorn dressing. The beauty part is I would have leftover salad for lunch on Thursday and Friday.

We did not have long to wait for the music to start, and did we ever enjoy it! We chair danced, sang along, and applauded each number. Phil sang hits from Jimmy Buffet, Johnny Cash, the Beatles and more. I was delighted when Gino requested “Mustang Sally,” one of my favorites.

Sing it, Phil!

I suppose I only could have written this last night, but when we got home I watched Dateline instead. Sue me.

Fratello’s Pizzeria is located at 158 E. Main St., Frankfort, NY, phone number 315-894-8484. They are open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 1 to p.m. Sunday. You can follow them on Facebook to find out their music schedule. It’s not just on Wednesdays!

Wednesday Night, What Else Is New?

Here is yet another short post about our Wednesday Night Thing of going to Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort, NY for great food and music. It was our favorite, Phil Arcuri.

He’s so fun!

This is a picture of a previous appearance, but it was the same wonderful Phil. He is so fun to watch, and he loves his fans. He incorporated my name into “Under the Boardwalk.” When he sang “Margaritaville,” it was all Steve’s fault. And after we “Sha-la-la-la’d” with him, it was his green-eyed girl, instead of the usual brown-eyed.

As always, we enjoyed delicious food. Steve had a shrimp basket while I tried a Cuban wrap. Yum! We also had an enjoyable conversation with another fellow sitting at the bar.

Another Short Post About a Good Wednesday

My husband, Steve, and I just returned from a lovely Wednesday night at Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort, NY. Normally at this time I would be getting ready for bed and saying, “Oh hell, I can miss a day of blogging.” Yes, I can. However, I prefer not to.

He’s awesome!

Full disclosure: this is a picture from another night, found in my Media Library.

We sang along with many of his songs, sometimes changing the words. Instead of “Brown-eyed girl,” I sang to my “Green-eyed boy.” I was not the only one doing so. On another song, instead of, “Amy, what you wanna do?” Phil sang, “Cindy, ” etc. I was quite flattered.

We also enjoyed delicious food, served by our favorite bartender, Toni. We brought home leftovers. Yay!

So this is my short post. Call it a Wuss-out Wednesday and drive on.

More Music? Yes, Please!

Here is yet another post about food, music, and a good time at Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort on a Wednesday night.

Our guy Phil

Once again we grooved to the tunes of Phillip Arcuri. A number of his fans were there. When he sang “Margaritaville” and got to the refrain, “Some people claim that there’s a woman to blame….” a woman sitting near us at the bar said it was Ron’s fault. I immediately blamed Steve.

“But he’s so quiet!” Phil said. For the rest of the song he included Ron and Steve in the refrain, adding Alex and Toni at the end. Toni, regular readers may remember, is our favorite bartender. I think Alex owns the place (how embarrassing that I don’t know).

Always a good show!

When Phil sang “Last Kiss,” of course Steve and I sang along: “Oh where oh where can my baby be?” I said to a guy sitting next to me that Phil always sings that song because we like it so much. I don’t know if that is strictly true, but he does seem to sing it every time we see him.

“You look familiar,” I continued. “Do I know you?”

He reminded me that he had moved one seat down for us at a previous visit to Fratello’s (perhaps you read my blog post about it). His name is Joe. I was delighted to renew the acquaintance.

You can see a little of the Christmas decor.

I do enjoy our Wednesday thing, even if I am too tired to make the blog post till Thursday.

I Gotta Have My Music!

My husband, Steve, and I have been greatly enjoying our usual Wednesday thing of going to Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort, NY, to enjoy yummy food and great music. Last night we enjoyed one of our favorites, Phillip Arcuri.

He has as much fun as the audience!

Last night when we walked in, there were a number of people sitting at the bar, our favorite place to sit. However, a man graciously agreed to move one seat down freeing up two seats in a row. Steve’s view of the musician was a little obscured, but he managed to peep around and could of course hear perfectly well.

We decided on pizza and wings but had some discussion on pizza toppings and wing sauce. For pizza we got garlic with pepperoni and black olives. For wings, I was interested in Buffalo Garlic but worried they might be too spicy. Our favorite bartender Toni said if we wanted less spicy, Barbecue, Garlic or Garlic Parmesan were better choices. Still, I wanted to try to Buffalo Garlic and Steven said OK.

“The hot stuff makes his bald spot sweat,” I explained to our new friend, who had also taken part in the discussion. “As for me, I’m going to have another hot flash any minute, so it really doesn’t matter.”

“You might as well add to it,” he agreed.

The wings were spicy, but after we asked for celery and bleu cheese (which we should have ordered in the first place; I love celery and bleu cheese), all was well.

The music, of course, was wonderful. We sang along whenever possible and chair danced when we weren’t eating. I could see other people enjoying themselves as much.

Sometimes I think I would like to stay home and vegetate, but when I have a chance to take in the local music scene, how can I resist?

Columbo, Can You Help Me Now?

Can I make my Tired Tuesday Post on Tuesday? Probably not, but I shall try.

I loves me some Peter Falk.

We are watching an episode of Columbo which we DVR’d off MeTV. Oh good God, autocorrect changed MeTV to Meth! I’m watching television not smoking crack! Or is meth different from crack? I don’t know about these things.

That is as far as I got on Tuesday. Now it is Wednesday morning, and I am typing frantically (with ten fingers on the laptop) (which is really a tabletop, since it is permanently ensconced on the dining room table; if we move it at all it will cease to function) (just to give you the picture), trying to get to 200 words. Words do come more quickly with ten fingers. Is my brain moving any faster? Probably not. Let’s not ask for miracles.

Looking ahead, I will probably be making my Wuss-out Wednesday post Thursday morning, since we are planning to go to Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort, NY, tonight to enjoy music by Phillip Arcuri. Yay! Similarly, Thursday’s post will be made Friday morning, because we are heading to Rome to see family. But that is appropriate for Non-Sequitur Thursday, so I am not deterred. Friday, however, may not be Lame Post Friday, because it will not really be Friday for me. Alas, I work Saturday. I am trying not to let the thought color my week too gloomily.

And now I have rattled on for 200 words. Score! Next time I will try for 200 good words, but, as I said, let us not ask for miracles.

More Phil, Please!

Last night my husband, Steven, and I did our favorite Wednesday thing of going to Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort, NY for food and music. We grooved to the tunes of one of our favorites, Phil Arcuri.

He is so fun to watch.

I snapped a picture with my phone and posted it on Facebook with the remark that anybody not at Fratello’s was missing out on some great music. They were missing some great food, too. We got pizza and wings. Yum!

Our favorite bartender, Toni, was sporting a new hair color. I asked to take a picture for the blog.

She’s so pretty!

We sang along when we knew the words and chair danced when we weren’t eating. I tried to get a couple of pictures, but I don’t think any turned out very good.

As usual, we had a great time. It looked as if everybody else did, too!

More Mid-Week Music

Last night my husband, Steven, and I indulged in our favorite Wednesday thing of enjoying music and food at Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort. We ate wrap sandwiches and grooved to tunes by Phil Arcuri.

He’s great!

It is so fun to watch Phil, because he clearly loves what he’s doing. We sang along when we knew the words, as did others sitting at the bar.

When I was taking pictures, Phil said we needed to take one together. Our favorite bartender, Toni, offered to snap the shot.

Later on Phil was joined by a special guest artist.

We had a wonderful time.

Music on my Mind

I guess I had a real Wordless Wednesday as I went to bed without posting at all. I don’t have time for a real post right now (I have to work for a living), so how about a few pictures of local musicians instead?

Yay, music!

Last night Steven and I enjoyed music by Matt Grainger at Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort, NY.

Another favorite!

Here is another shot of Phil Arcuri at Iron Rock Brewing Company in Little Falls.

He was awesome too!

This is Mark Nanni, whose music we enjoyed last Wednesday at Fratello’s.

We have been enjoying a lot of good music lately. I hope soon to enjoy making more blog posts. As always, thank you for tuning in.
