I Accomplish a Monstrous Monday Post

Before starting work this morning and again on break, I worked on a blog post. In addition to not having completed it (I think the last thing I wrote was, “Where was I going with this?”), I do not feel like sitting up at the laptop and typing it in. I really must get a new laptop, so I can lounge on the couch and ten-finger type in comfort. At my age, posture is a lost cause.

All this by way of introduction to another Monstrous Monday.

Is this how Monday snuck up on you?

Every Monday is the start of another chance to get my act together and work towards accomplishing my goals. I seem to remember reading somewhere that accomplishments are overrated, but I think I would like to accomplish a few things and see. One likes to have a basis for comparison.

Or one could just sleep the day away.

Most Mondays, I let myself off the hook (for example, by making Monstrous Monday Blog Post). I figure just getting through the day is enough. However today I made my lunch for tomorrow, did the dishes, and spent some time folding laundry, including putting out clothes for Tuesday and Wednesday. It is not a lot, but let us not expect miracles.

Additionally, I am over 200 words with very little effort. If I can find one more monster picture, I will be reasonably content.

I love a cloudy day.

OK, I could not find a monster I like. How about a threatening cloudy sky? Sufficiently spooky, I hope.

W(h)ining About Monday

Who me? Drink wine?

I thought I would open with a picture. In fact, it has not been a particularly heinous Monday. However, I am tired and disinclined to make anything but a Monstrous Monday Post. Can I find any good monsters to share? We shall see.

She’s so fine!

This, of course, is Bonita, our year-round skeleton who lives in our living room. This was her October outfit. I found the hat at a rummage sale. I think it is for a small dog. The black tulips, which I’m afraid do not show up very well, were made by my clever theatre friend, Jerry, for a murder mystery called Spring into Murder.

Another friend.

This is Harold Ghoul (get it?). I got him at a neighbor’s yard sale. I don’t know what they used to call him.

That says it all.

This is not turning out to be much of a blog post. I guess my bottom line is, I don’t like Mondays. I am embarrassed to admit it, because it is such a cliche. I hate to follow the crowd! Unless the crowd is drinking wine. Teehee.

I Need a Little Nosferatu

Hello, and welcome to another Monstrous Monday Post. I am feeling marginally less tired than I felt last Monday. However, I am still tired and a little down, and I want a few creepy crawlies to cheer myself up. If only I knew how to easily maneuver my Media Library to find my pictures of Nosteratu! I hate to find them anew on the internet and have them in the Media Library twice.

It’s no use. I can only scroll, and it moves more and more slowly. I got as far back as July 2020 and no Nosferatu. Damn!

He’s scary!

I went to Facebook and found a new (to my blog) picture of my favorite.

OK, one more.

Look how comfortable he looks! I should go upstairs and lie down. But first I must finish my blog post. I think one more monster picture ought to do it.

Not so scary.

This is an alligator (or maybe a crocodile) (depending on if I will see him later or in a while) made with a chain saw. My sister Vicki got him for me from Knoeble’s, an amusement park near where she lives in Pennsylvania. Quite a different kind of monster from Nosferatu but I find him equally cheering.

Also cheering is noticing I am over 200 words. Regular readers know I call that respectable. Happy Monday, everyone.

Monsters, Wine, or Whine?

Here I am, ready to make my Monstrous Monday Post. Will I be able to navigate my Media Library and find monster pictures to share? Will I be able to find new monster pictures? A little suspense adds interest to my post.

Here’s one of my favorites.

This was from my Media Library, shared as recently as March 1. First I looked at some of the free photos offered by WordPress. I found one I liked, but when I went to share it, I saw it had a caption telling who took the picture. I wasn’t clear on whether or not I was obligated to include this information so opted not to use the photo.

Who is this guy?

I liked the look of this one. A scary creature, an action shot, this peps up the post. I wish it would pep me up. I am so tired and wordless! I had a pretty crappy day. Of course most of my woes can be explained with the words Operator Error. So I must not complain.

Wait a minute! This isn’t a monster!

In fact, I have not had any wine this evening. I am sipping seltzer with lemon out of a wine glass, and that is almost as good. Additionally, I am not a fan of giving up. As the quote from the movie Galaxy Quest goes, “Never give up! Never surrender!”

However, perhaps the meme means to give it up for tonight, or to give up worrying about it. This calls for more philosophy than I am up for on a Monday. On the brighter side, I am over 250 words. I call that respectable. I’m going to shut up and hit Publish, before I really start to whine.

Just Make with the Monsters, Me!

And just like that, it is time for another Monstrous Monday Post. Full disclosure: I am tired and depressed, and now embarrassed that I even mentioned it. I should stop calling attention to myself and make with the monsters.

Hardly an uncommon point of view.

Most of us Monday through Friday wage slaves feel this way about Monday. If I can confine the feeling to Monday and not let it ruin my Sunday, I feel better about things.

I was tempted to bring them home.

I’m not just about movie monsters. Here are a couple of ghouls from Pumpkin Junction in Sauquoit, NY. Of course I do not want to rush through spring and summer, but won’t it be fun when It’s Halloween time again?

Isn’t it National Women’s Day?

Scrolling through my Media Library, I came across a movie poster I have not shared recently. I tend to share the classics a lot, but I do love a cheesy flick about a bug monster.

Here is a cheery fellow!

I close with a dose of cuteness. My husband Steven gave me the sweet vampire. My friend Marsha sent me the pot. The Orange cloth is a t-shirt I just happened to have. As usual, the monsters have cheered me up. Happy Monday, everyone!

Not Too Tired for Monsters

I went from feeling too damn tired to make a blog post to thinking I could just about manage a Monstrous Monday Post. Will I be entertaining? Will I find other pictures from the same ones I have used many times? No promises.

Everybody should have such a tree.

I looked far back in my Media Library to find the first monsters I ever shared. This delightful display was at Pumpkin Junction in Sauquoit, NY, a wonderful place to visit in October. I first shared the picture in October 2016, when I first started putting pictures in the blog.

But she looks so sweet!

Here is another shot from October 2016. This lovely lady graces my own front porch. She did not make it down from the attic in 2020, but it was kind of a bad year.

Would you kick him out for eating crackers in bed?

I wanted to include a movie monster and naturally picked my favorite, Nosteratu. He always manages to cheer me up. Full disclosure: This has not been a very good Monday. But I guess it’s up to me to see that Tuesday is a little better. Will my blog post be better? I hope you’ll all tune in and see.

Yes, It Was Monday

Every Monday is another chance to have a fabulous, productive week. And every Monday evening I feel Just Too Tired To Do Anything. I don’t even know if I can manage a Monstrous Monday Post.

An embarrassingly common emotion.

Oh crap now I am having trouble with this WordPress editor. I couldn’t get the cursor to the left to start a new paragraph; it wanted to stay center. Now I am two to three lines below the picture and afraid to try to erase the space. And why does autocorrect only want to correct some of my typos? These are the questions that haunt me on Monstrous Monday.

Now the bastard won’t let me add another picture! What the hell?

Maybe it would help if I screamed.

Regarding the caption above, in The Tingler (yes, autocorrect, Tingler, not Tingles. Sheesh!), directed by William Castle and starring Vincent Price, only screaming could save you from the terrifying Tingler. I am not sure screaming out my frustration would have a similar effect, although I know some find such behavior helpful.

It was, my friend, it was.

I close with a ghoul I downloaded some years ago but rarely share. I confess my day was not as bad as some. However, I found it tiring. But at least I managed a 200 (or so) word blog post. Happy Monday, everyone.

I have been sitting here, clicking back and forth from “Add new post,” thinking that I just cannot write another post about not being able to make a proper blog post. Which is silly, because of course I can; I do it all the time. Additionally, it is Monstrous Monday. Why shouldn’t I make another post of monster pictures and random remarks? Yet, I feel I should be making more posts about the Mohawk Valley.

A common complaint.

My lack of Mohawk Valley Adventures is really getting on my nerves. It is largely because of these COVID times. My beloved community theatres are dark. Some of my favorite local businesses are closing their doors, we hope temporarily. Community events are rare or virtual. Why am I going on about this? We all know it.

This was in The Emporium in Herkimer, taken during a past adventure.

The other reason for my lack of adventuring is that I went back to work. My body and brain really got used to sitting home. And, it just this minute occurs to me, I am NOT used to learning a new job. I was over nine years at by last job. No wonder I am so tired!

I’m buried in difficulties!

Or am I just making excuses?

I suppose I am. However, I have gotten up to 200 words, my rather arbitrary goal. I will look about me for more local topics for future posts. As always, I hope you’ll stay tuned.

I Want My Mummy!

Hello, and welcome to another edition of Monstrous Monday. I’m wondering if it would overfill my Media Library to prowl the internet for some new beasts or creepy crawlies. Let’s find out.

Carl Laemmle knew from monsters.

One of my Facebook monster groups has Mummy Mondays. We see a lot of Boris Karloff, although there have been other mummies, most notably Christopher Lee.

Is that any way to treat your mummy?

I always wonder if you couldn’t just grab an end of the bandage and unwrap him. It would be worth a try, anyways.

Well, that’s that. I just tried to save another photo to this device, and my device told me I had insufficient memory. I’m sure there is a better way to do this, but I do not know it.

Oh dear, I am so dreadfully tired and not the least bit adept at this WordPress editor. There are now two big spaces waiting for me to insert an image. Will they leave big blank spaces when I hit Publish? I think I will hit Publish and see. I am beginning to feel a bit monstrous myself. Happy Monday, everyone.

New Year, New Monsters!

Full disclosure: I just now thought of that title, and now I have to look for some monsters. On the brighter side, it is often easier to download new than it is to scroll through my ever larger Media Library. It is getting a little out of control. Dare I say (wait for it), I’ve created a MONSTER!

Here are a couple more mugs I’d like for our collection. Yesterday I shared a picture of Snapped mugs. If I had not vowed not to scroll through my Media Library, I would throw in the picture of theDeadly Women mug I covet.

Here is a monster that is new to me. I do not know what movie this is from and do not know how to research such a thing. It showed up under Public Photos when I searched “monsters.”

He’s scary!

I have not added a new picture of Nosteratu in a long time. Regular readers know he’s my favorite.

She so pretty!

As I looked at monster pictures, I realize the dearth of female monsters. When I search “female monsters” I got a bunch of scantily clad hotties. This could start a whole new discussion which I am quite frankly not up for.

This has given me an inspiration. I should write a horror novel with a female monster. Yes, yes, I am sure it has been done. However, it has obviously not been done enough. Can I add to literature thusly? I’ll let you know how I make out.
