I Would Feel Spunky If I Could Do Shakespeare Again

Last night, I told myself all I needed to do was make a Throwback Thursday Post. How hard could that be, I argued. Choose a couple of pictures, peck in a few words… that is, on my Tablet. Then I thought about how finicky my Tablet has been concerning my WordPress Media Library, and I was so tired anyways… So here I am, prior to five Friday morning, on my still-hanging-by-a-thread laptop, ten-finger typing, and waiting for coffee.

I must admit, I am enjoying the ten finger typing, and the coffee just showed up (Steve really is a very satisfactory husband). Let us see what I can do with the Media Library.

Adorable, yes?

I looked at March 2017 (the laptop behaving beautifully for the moment) and found this sweet picture of our dearly missed pooch, Spunky. I SO miss having a dog! My ambition is to get my house cleaned up and repaired so we can adopt another doggy friend. It is difficult as tired as I am these days, but I encourage myself to work a little at a time.

I MISS this!

I was looking for another canine photograph, but I can rarely resist a Theatre Throwback. This was an early rehearsal for The Tempest, as presented by LiFT, Little Falls Theatre Company in 2017. Too long ago! A few of us were meeting in early 2020, scheming how to bring Shakespeare back to Little Falls, but, alas, COVID intervened.

There’s no people like show people!

Here is a picture of one of our meetings, held at Meeples Mug House, which is also sadly departed (totally understood the proprietors’ reasons, but still sad).

Well, that was pretty easy, getting over 250 words (I may be over 300 by the end of this paragraph!). My headline suggested itself after I found the second picture. Does jumping subjects like this make this also a Non-Sequitur Thursday post? Discuss amongst yourselves.

(Yes, over 300 words. Teehee)

Here I Am! I Hope!

I think I found a way to get back to Classic Editor.  I start a post, save it, get out of it, find it under “all posts,” and then I can click on “Classic Editor, ” and here I am!  I do not know if this will continue to work, but I will enjoy it for today at least.

My computer woes continue.  My laptop turns on, but I cannot get it out of Airplane mode.  I thought surely I would be able to, since I have done so before. But even after calling myself Shirley, I failed (get it?  Airplane? Surely/Shirley? Well, I thought I was funny).  Additionally, I can no longer get onto WordPress on my phone.  And there was a picture in it I wanted to use. Rats!

Here I am!

I remembered I had shared the picture to Facebook so downloaded it to my Tablet from there. Phew!  I may catch up with technology at last!

This is a selfie taken after my run yesterday.  I know, I finished my challenge of 34 minutes for 34 days and then take a selfie (remember that?).  I did not even take selfies all 34 days.  I don’t like taking selfies.  But I felt like taking one yesterday. For one reason, it had snowed and I hoped some had stayed on my hat.  No such luck, but I snapped the pic anyways.

I thought I might crash and burn after my 34 days, but I have not quite done that.  My runs have been shorter and not every day, but I am still getting out there.  I may even make a Running Commentary Post again soon.

In the meantime,  I see I am over 250 words.  I think I will call this a Tired Tuesday Post and drive on.  Full disclosure: I actually got a lot done today, but it would probably make a dull post.  I’ll try for a good Mohawk Valley Adventure tomorrow.  As always, I hope you’ll stay tuned.

Bonita, Can You Help Me Now?

I tried to use this Monday as a New Start. That was because I saw it on a Facebook meme. Just kidding! The fact is, I am always making a new start, at any point in the week or year.

OK, something stupid just happened.  It was me. I am the stupid thing that happened.  I can’t find a good stylus, and I have a split or paper cut in my index finger, so one letter at a time typing is difficult.  I tried switching to the laptop, but I think I may have killed it.  It is poised on my dining room table, the slightest shift a danger.  And I was trying to find out where to stick the flash drive they gave me at Working Solutions.  I did not figure it out.  This could be a problem.

I believe I mentioned before that I was on furlough from my place of employment.  Did I further mention that it has been changed to a layoff?  I don’t mean to bring up my problems, but I just thought I would mention it.  Perhaps my job search gyrations would make an interesting blog post.

In the meantime, I am sitting here with my Tablet, typing with my middle finger, and wishing I had more cheerful things to type about.

It’s Bonita!

I add a photo to pep things up.  Now that Halloween is over, it is time to change Bonita’s outfit.  I wonder if I could find a Pilgrim’s bonnet in her size.

Typical Me on Tired Tuesday

I logged on to WordPress thinking I would start this post with, “I’m totally getting used to this Tablet posting.”  Then it took me like five tries to get from All Posts to Add New.  Is that typical me or what?  As a matter of fact, I was thinking that in lieu of my usual Tired Tuesday,  I would tell about a couple more typical me moments I had today.

I went to Hannaford to pick up a few things.

That was when I realized I was not as used to this Tablet posting as I thought I was. I tried logging on to my laptop.   Naturally I did not meet with success. So that makes another typical me moment.  Two, if you count deciding to switch to the laptop and failing to do so as separate moments.

Then again, why am I so struck by these “typical me moments”?  I am, after all, me.  Why would I not behave in a manner typical of myself?  Why should I be surprised when I behave in a manner typical of myself? I suppose I could say it is typical of me to be surprised at such a time.

Now I am thinking,  what’s wrong with a Tired Tuesday post?   It’s Tuesday.  I’m tired.  I hope to see you all on Wuss-out Wednesday.

Still 2 Posts Behind, How Lame!

So last night I was all determined to get back on track. Regular readers may remember I was two posts behind, after missing Sunday and Monday.  Then I managed two posts on Tuesday, so I was only one post behind.  Two posts today (Saturday) would have put me back on track.

Well, last night, I looked at the Add New Post page, then decided I could go back to being two posts behind.  So here I am, early Saturday morning,  typing one letter at a time with the stylus on my Tablet , because now the laptop is acting up (although I admit to finding the anticipatory text thing kind of fascinating).

Shall we take this as a lesson in the evils of procrastination?   Or wait until tomorrow to do such a thing ? (See what I did there?)

I feel a little silly not making my post last night when it only had to be a Friday Lame Post .  I fear this one is even more lame.  Oh dear.  Maybe more coffee would help. Or a monster.

“Oh, the sun’s not up yet.”

A little Nosferatu can brighten the gloomiest morning.

I plan to go on a few major Mohawk Valley adventures today.  I hope to have a fun Scattered Saturday post later.  I hope I’m not too tired.

I Did Not Plan to be Tired

Regular readers know that I am almost always tired on Tuesday, hence the Tired Tuesday post.  Today was even worse, because being the first day back at work after a four day break, it was also my Monday.  I feel guilty complaining about it.  I am sure many will judge me:  you had four days off, you bum!  What have you got to be tired about?  Well, I am definitely too tired to have THAT argument in my head again.

My day was brightened somewhat this morning when I realized it was, in fact, Tuesday, meaning I only have a four day week.  I enjoyed my four day week last week.  Perhaps I could do the same this week.  One thing I was resolved on:  I was going to handwrite a blog post during breaks so that I could go to the library after work and make my blog post on a real computer, not my Tablet.  Additionally, I could easily check all my emails (I have a few different accounts), at least one of which I had to answer.  Oh, and Facebook message a cast member of Secrets at Suiter House.  Just to show you what a full plate I had.

Naturally, things did not go as I planned.  They never do; I’m not even sure why I bother to make plans, but never mind that now.  First, I was too tired to write anything.  Then I got a message from my husband, Steven, that the laptop was ready for pick up TODAY, not Friday as scheduled.  It obviously behooved me to call and change my pick-up appointment to today, and to drive to New Hartford (NY, not CT), and get the laptop.  Then I could skip the library.  Although, now that I think about it:  the library is closer, and I could have gotten out more books.  I like books.

Of course it took longer than expected to accomplish this, and traffic is often a problem in that area.  However, I mustered what patience I could, and now I am sitting on my couch, typing my blog post into the laptop. I checked my email, answered what I needed to, sent the message I wanted to, and even looked at Facebook for a bit (don’t judge me).

I’m thinking this is a foolish post, even for a Tired Tuesday.  There are a lot more interesting things I could write about than my stupid computer problems.  If only I wasn’t so tired!  Let that be a lesson to me —  oh wait, this is a lesson I have told myself many times and I haven’t learned it yet:  Have blog posts written in advance, so in case of just such an emergency, I will have only to hit Publish.  Waaaait a minute!  That sounds suspiciously like Plan Ahead.  What did I say earlier about making plans?

A Winter Wonderlame

How about a Blogger’s Snow Day instead of a Blogger’s Sick Day. Winter has returned to the Mohawk Valley, and it has come back with a vengeance!  There was no chance for Mohawk Valley adventures today; all were advised to stay at home if possible.  Additionally, Steven and I have been having computer problems.  Let me tell you, “google it” is not always advice that yields results.  I’m just saying.

Be that as it may, we are now one day into Steven’s Fabulous Four Day Birthday Weekend.  In addition to computer problems, our DVD/VCR player seems to be on the fritz.  Or perhaps it has died, just to be optimistic about these things.  At least we have cable back.  It took a brief vacation when we lost power earlier, also briefly, thank God!  So we were able to watch Blackula earlier.  I had DVR’d it from TCM last October.  I may get a full post out of the viewing.  We shall see in future days.

The sign says “NO SMOKING,” but I think Blackula is smokin’ hot.

Right now, what a surprise, we are watching Snapped.  I do love murder and mayhem.  In the meantime, the snow keeps falling.  I went out and tried to shovel this morning.  I met with some success, but you couldn’t tell as the snow kept falling.  More recently we heard our neighbor out snowblowing the end of our driveway.  What a great guy!  I’ll have to bake cookies and bring some over.

The abominable snow vehicles!

This is a picture from last year’s Snowmageddon.  I did not face such depths this morning, but tomorrow morning I might.  That could be worth a blog post.  As always, I hope you’ll stay tuned.

Alliteration before Auditions

I’m afraid it’s Middle-aged Musings Monday, or Mental Meanderings Monday (choose your alliteration).  I’m sitting in Basloe Library in Herkimer, NY, with my usual Monday back-ache (and you were hoping I could get through a post without griping about my physical ills) (quite frankly, so was I), sipping coffee and typing on my laptop.

I will just mention that there is something vaguely comforting about my Monday back-ache.  I won’t pretend to be so twisted that I enjoy having a back-ache, but at least it feels familiar.  Does that make any sense?  Does anything make any sense?  How about that headline?  Let’s talk about that.

After famously saying, “No more plays!” after Much Ado About Nothing (a truly grand theatrical experience, thank you, LiFT!), I am planning to go to Ilion Little Theatre tonight to audition for Steel Magnolias.  Oh come on, did anybody seriously believe I wasn’t going to?  Of course, there is no guarantee I will get a part.  It actually might be kind of better if I don’t get one.  I mean, I’m writing three or four murder mysteries.  They are scheduled for February, March, April and TBD.  More details to follow.

I’ll tell you what, this is not the best place to sit with a laptop.  The florescent lights are reflected in my screen in a most annoying fashion.  I just re-tilted in an attempt to minimize the effect.

Where was I?  Ah yes, too busy to be in another play.  Additionally, the deadline looms for Mohawk Valley Living magazine.  My computer problems have delayed my getting my articles written and submitted.  To be more exact, my dithery, ineffective attempts at dealing with my computer problems have had that effect.  A more organized writer would have handily completed said articles.  Here we come to the ugly truth about me.

On the other hand, I see it is 4:24 according to my computer.  That is almost two hours before my ride will pick me up to go to auditions (it’s so much more comfortable to go to these things with a friend!).  I can progress on my articles now!  As Gene Wilder famously said in Young Frankenstein:  “IT!  COULD!  WORK!”

Wrist to WiFi

Oh, I think Wrist to Forehead Sunday is definitely in order today.  My internet is still out.  I went to McDonald’s this morning, where, you may recall, I handily made my blog post yesterday.  This morning I could not get on WordPress.  They told me it was not secure!  What was that all about?

I suppose someone will say that writers are an insecure lot, by and large.  Writers of blogs, I think, have a little more self-confidence, because we just put our words out there.  Come to think of it, that is what any writer does, except, you know, the ones like Emily Dickinson, who famously hid all her poems in the attic (at least I think it was the attic; I guess it wasn’t all that famous if I’m not sure, was it?).

In case anybody was wondering, I am typing this into the word processing feature on my laptop.  I shall presently seek somewhere with wi-fi (probably the library parking lot), try to get onto wordpress.com there, and copy and paste.  I felt clever for thinking of that idea.  I must implement it soon, though, because Steven only works till one and if I am not back, he will wonder where I am.  He cannot call me, because our phone is out too.  Curse you, Time Warner Cable!

Oh dear, I hope that last line does not bring the wrath of a huge corporation down on my hapless head.  Then I really will have a reason for a Wrist to Forehead Sunday.

Did You Miss Me Yesterday?

My whole life is operator error!

OK, got that out of my system.  Regular readers may have noticed that I did not make a post yesterday.  Well, I had internet issues.  I’m still having them.  However, by the miracle of Mid-York Library System, I am making a brief post today.  Yes, I am at Basloe Library in Herkimer, on one of their computers.  I was trying to get onto the internet on my laptop, and it just did not seem to be working out for me.  I re-started the laptop and that may have worked, but then I said, “Oh to hell with it; I’ll get on one of their computers and make my blog post!”  I said it to myself; I did not swear out loud in the library.

Last night I would have liked to go to the library parking lot and get on the internet, but Steven and I had plans for dinner and the theatre.  At least, we had plans for the theatre.  I was supposed to make dinner but I made reservations instead.  It served as our belated anniversary dinner, at Sorrento’s in Ilion.  A delightful dinner.  Then we went to Rabbit Hole at Ilion Little Theatre.  Then we went home and went to bed, where I did not sleep well, but that’s neither here nor there.

I did not run in the Reindeer Run 5K (I would still be running it if I had) in Little Falls.  For one reason, I could not pre-register because I could not get online.  For another reason, I just didn’t want to any more.  I mean, I kind of did, but I mostly didn’t.  Sorry, other 5K runners who may have enjoyed me puffing and panting and making silly jokes along the way.  Maybe next year.

So now that I have blathered on for some 300 words, I’m going to get on with the rest of my day.  Big plans, mostly of the Mohawk Valley adventure variety. I’ll let you know how they workout.
