These Are Not Monstrous Memories

I thought I would feel bad about making a Monstrous Monday Post after talking about monster movies yesterday, and I do. How about a Monday Memories Post, and then I’ll feel bad about making a Throwback Thursday Post in a few days.

Great people to hang out with!

This is my late husband, Steve, and our friend Tracy at the Waterfront Grille in Herkimer,NY in July 2017. Tracy was visiting. As always, we had a great time.

Here is Steve at Ruggerios in Little Falls, just to include a place that is still open. Speaking of places that are open in Little Falls, I must make my way to The Renaissance Pub (preview of coming attractions). They reopened recently and are doing some great things.

I was wearing those shorts just the other day.

Oh dear, this shot is a little blurry. Since it is Monday Memories (or should that be Memories Monday?), I close with a picture of the Copper Moose. I do have good memories of going out with Steve. It was also fun staying at home with him.

Ah Yes, Adventures!

How about a Way Back Wednesday Post? The only question is, how way back of a picture can I find? We shall see.

This is my husband Steve at The Miner’s Table at the Herkimer Diamond Mines, I forget how long ago, but a few years anyways. When I wrote about The Miner’s Table for Mohawk Valley Living magazine, they used this picture with the caption, “Steve toasts Cindy, pricker bush slayer.” In the article, I mentioned we were out celebrating, because I had taken out a pricker bush in our yard that had gotten out of hand.

A quick check of Facebook tells me they open for the season April 15. I’ll have to go there again. I may not slay another pricker bush.

Here is a sad Way Back. Copper Moose Alehouse in Little Falls has sadly closed. We had some fine dinners and fun times there!

To end on a happier note, here is a place I hope to visit again soon: Prospect Falls Winery. In addition to visiting the winery, we have seen these guys at various events in the region. We usually buy a bottle whenever we have the opportunity. It is really good wine!

I like posts like this, when I have been having a lot of days where all I do is work and go home. There is more to life than work! There are Mohawk Valley Adventures!

Time with Friends, Yes

Posting on the deck is very annoying. For one reason, there is an inordinate amount of reflections on my screen. For another reason, I want to be sociable with the friends we have over. However, one must post (one being me, of course), and one did not do so earlier, due to computer problems which really do not warrant a mention.

Where was I? Ah yes, on my deck. We just got back from a fabulous meal at the Copper Moose Ale House in Little Falls, NY. I want to write a whole blog post about it, but tonight I want to hang out and visit with our friends, Jim and Phyllis. We have not done nearly enough deck sitting this summer. For one reason, it has been to hot and muggy many evenings for such a thing. For another, I was in a play (perhaps you read a couple of my blog posts about it) (if not, stay tuned, I’ll have at least one more post about it soon).

Today has not been a productive Saturday for me, much less one of the Scattered variety (for anyone just tuning in, Scattered Saturday is a post I often make this day of the week). I worked (OK, productive for my employer), I walked my dog (always a necessity), I folded a little laundry (not enough), I took a nap (don’t judge), I read a bit more of a book (Victoria Holt). I think the best thing I’ve done today is to spend time with friends. And I must not miss out on more friend time to make a longer blog post.

Therefore, I will sign off now, and hope to see you all tomorrow, when we will have Sunday Running Commentary OR Wrist to Forehead Sunday. As the late, great Fats Waller said, one never knows, do one.

Pre-Spree Post

I did not shop on Thanksgiving Day nor yet on Black Friday. However, Small Business Saturday, that’s is right up Mohawk Valley Girl’s alley! My wonderful husband, Steven, only works till two today, so we are planning a spree. I want to get my blog post written pre-spree, so this is in the nature of a Preview of Coming Attractions.

Our destination is Little Falls, NY, because we want to go to the Black Box Theatre in Stone Mill. I read in the paper that it is New Play November, and LiFT Theatre Company is presenting three plays written by director Matthew Powers. I certainly hope to write more about this. There are several retail establishments we hope to visit this afternoon. At the top of my list is the Selective Eye, the gift shop at Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts (MVCA). No doubt I will wander into the gallery to check out the artwork while we’re there. MVCA is located right across from Little Falls Antiques Center, where in addition to the Black Box, we intend to visit the Mustard Seed and Stone Mill Antiques as well as the Shops at 25 West.

If we have time we may visit Fall Hill Bead and Gem. We may be early enough for a snack at That Little Place on Main, which is right nearby. However, we mustn’t snack too heartily, because we are also meeting friends at Copper Moose Ale House for dinner.

We have a lot of stops planned. However, before we leave Herkimer, I’m hoping we have time for a quick stop at Vintage Spirits. They are celebrating their 10th anniversary by offering tastings all day and giving away canvas totes that say “Shop Small.” Now wouldn’t that be a good place to put today’s purchases?

In all, it promises to be a fun day, and I can enjoy it with a clear conscience now that my blog post is written. I wonder if I can make enough stops to keep me in “real” posts for the entire week. Well, maybe not on Wrist to Forehead Sunday. I hope you’re all having a lovely holiday weekend.

And Then Another Lame

OK, so it really is a Friday for me when I did not completely expect one. I thought I was working Saturday until about 2:47 this afternoon. OK, I don’t know exactly what time it was; I just thought it would be funny to say it was a specific time that did not involve fives or zeros.

So I got home all happy and had a glass of wine. My nice husband and I had amorphous plans. We thought to go to K Mart and look at a ghost we might like to purchase. I thought I would cook quesadillas. We were not clear on order of events or times. Then Steven (really, the perfect husband) said, “Or we could go out to eat.”

Obviously that is what we did. At my suggestion we went to the Copper Moose Alehouse in Little Falls. We sat at the bar and had some more Pinot Grigio (not enough that Steven could not drive home) and ordered food. I had shrimp tacos. Steven had a hamburger involving a fried egg and other toppings. We chatted up the bartender and others.

In all, it was a delightful evening and one well worth a blog post. Can I always write a blog post at the end of a delightful evening? Regular readers know, the answer to that question is NO!!!

On the other hand, it is Lame Post Friday. This is me, being lame for the day. I shall now go back to enjoying my Friday, as indeed, I hope the rest of you are doing.

Never Drink and Type Be Damned!

I am sitting on my deck with my husband Steven, sipping wine and swapping stories with our dear friends Phyllis and Jim. We went to a wine tasting at a Valley Wine and Spirits in Herkimer and then dinner at Copper Moose Alehouse in Little Falls. We had a couple of glasses of wine with dinner.

A blog post must be made. I always make a blog post. To be sure, I could have made a blog post earlier today. I was home. I was even on the computer. I did not feel like making a blog post.

Full disclosure: I do not particularly feel like making a blog post now. I feel like continuing to sit and sip. And listen to silly jokes from my friends.

Oh dear, now they are talking about political posts on Facebook. I like to stay off politics. Too much hate. I don’t have a problem with people disagreeing with me or with each other. I do have a problem with people making hurtful, hateful, nasty personal attacks on people who do not agree with them. Do you suppose people will hate on me for expressing such an opinion? Oh I hate for people to hate on me.

OK, this is what happens when I have the rule of posting every day and I do not make my post early on my day off. Please be amused by me. Please continue to read when I manage to post before I have had any wine. Thank you.
