At Least I Have Been Adventuring

I really, truly, totally meant to make my Saturday blog post on Saturday.   Then I thought for sure I would make it early Sunday morning.  Or maybe later Sunday morning after my run.  Predictably,  here I am Sunday evening,  hoping to make some semblance of a post.  No promises.

On the brighter side,  I am better off than I have been some weekends when I just quietly did not post at all Saturday or Sunday.  I have to congratulate myself on the small wins.  I can only hope that one day they will lead to larger wins.  Or maybe to getting anything done at all.  But let us not ask for miracles.

New digs for one of my favorite places!

Here is one of the pictures  I took Saturday in hopes of doing a Scattered Saturday Post.  It is Rose Quartz Stand, one of my favorite stores.  They recently moved next door, to the corner of Mohawk and South Main streets in Herkimer,  NY.  It is a larger space and very nice.  I must write a longer blog post about it.

The downstairs is open!

Another blog post I need to make is one about Mohawk Valley Community Market,  on North Main Street in Herkimer.   They recently expanded.

Look at all that fun stuff!

One more shout-out on this post-that-is-not-really-a-post:  A Little Touch of Country on South Washington Street in Herkimer.  What a lot of really nice stuff!

As you may guess, I did a bit of adventuring on Saturday.  Isn’t that often the way:  when you do a lot of stuff, you are too tired to make a blog post; when you are not too tired to make a blog post, it is because you have not been doing anything worth posting about.

However, I see I am approaching 300 words.  I call that good on what is often a Wrist to Forehead Sunday.  I hope you all had a lovely weekend.

The Blog That Wouldn’t Die?

Late posts, I just can’t seem to avoid them.  No discipline. No work ethic.  And very little brain.

My brain, unfortunately, would and apparently did.

This is not the image I just spent an embarrassingly long time searching my Media Library for (and I will end a sentence with a preposition if I want to).  I wanted The Brain from the Planet Arous.  I could so get into watching some cheesy horror movies today.  Then I could do a Sunday Cinema Post.

As for Saturday,  it was a lost cause.  I got my run in, I did a load of laundry (oh crap I just remembered I was going to do another one this morning), I spent a small amount of time chipping away at the vast mess I call home, I got together with my friend Kim for a little while.  I did not make it to the Mohawk American Legion to hear The Posers, as I had mentioned in my Lame Post Friday post (which regular readers may remember that I made on Saturday morning).  I did manage to have a pleasant evening with my husband, Steve.  So perhaps the day was not a total loss.

However, I fear my Saturday blog post is.  No matter.  I can only go on from here.  I will once again try for a better blog post next time.  And as always, thank you for tuning in.

A Post Before Murder

OK, I do not have time for a Scattered Saturday Post before heading out to our murder mystery. For one reason, I want to touch up my hair.

Oh dear, I am looking old. No matter.

For another reason, I just now found out we must drive ourselves. That is OK; I know how to drive. And I know how to put on a murder mystery! I hope my next blog post will be to report on our resounding success! As always, I hope you’ll stay tuned.

Feeling Sapped on Saturday

It was another Saturday without much scatter to it.  In my defense, I ran for over an hour (63 minutes, to be exact), and that really takes it out of me.  I spent the rest of the day wanting to take a nap.  Of course when I finally laid down and tried to take one, I had no luck at all.  These things happen to insomniacs like me.

My friend Kim and I went to a neighbor’s garage sale and got a few good buys.  The neighbor missed the Village Wide Sales, because he had to work, but he seemed to be getting a good number of shoppers.

After shopping, Kim and I hung out with Steven on the deck, his favorite spot to be these days.  We had some good laughs, as we usually do.  After Kim left, Steven and I went inside and watched Creepshow, one of the DVDs I had just purchased.  I have to say we were a little disappointed. When we watch it again, I may fast forward through the boring parts.

So this is turning out to be a dull blog post.  Could the hot weather be sapping me of all entertainment value?  SAY IT AIN’T SO!!!  In any case, I see I am over 200 words.  I’ll try to be more entertaining on Wrist to Forehead Sunday.

Not Scattered, Shout-Out!

I cannot make a Scattered Saturday Post,  because I have not scattered enough.  I took a long run this morning then pretty much sat around and wished it was not so hot and humid.  YES, I am a wimpy whiner, one must put up with these uncomfortable weather situations, blah blah, woof woof.  Hey, at least I managed a long run up a major hill before wimping out.  I suppose that does not count with some of you ( you know who you are).  Hmph!

Where was I?  Ah yes, trying to make a blog post when I have not indulged in many blogable activities.  My friend Kim picked me up in the afternoon, and we went to the End Zone Pub and Grub in Herkimer for a couple of drinks.  It was a lot of fun, as it usually when Kim and I get together.

No, I did not fall off my barstool to take this picture.

I was just scrolling through my Media Library looking for pictures of the End Zone, and I found this shot of the ceiling, complete with a Herkimer jersey.  Some of these older buildings have the best ceilings!

Always stuff to look at!

I enjoy looking at the sports and beer memorabilia on the wall.  There are also several television screens, usually with different games going on.

So I guess my Scattered Saturday Post has turned into a shout out for a local business.  Regular readers may recall that I have given shout-outs to this business in the recent past.  So sorry to repeat myself.  I also apologize for making my Saturday Post early Sunday morning (by my clock, anyways).  I can only hope to do better on Wrist to Forehead Sunday!

Did I Slack?

Earlier this morning, I thought at least I will not have a Slacker Saturday!  Now I am not so sure.

I got up around five and immediately went running.  For one reason, it was supposed to rain.  For another reason… well, I don’t exactly remember the reasoning, bit I told myself to do it and I did it.  After a shower and some breakfast, I went to the grocery store, getting there early enough to miss the usual Saturday morning crowd.

After putting the groceries away, I went outside and once again had at my lawn.  Certain areas along the edges are getting a little put of control.  On the morning’s run, I noticed a fence almost obscured by numerous bushes and trees.  I said, “Yikes!”  So I did a bit with clippers, a hack saw, and my hands in gardening gloves.  Phew!

Not yet done with being useful, I did the dishes and wrote a few post cards.  In between these chores, I peeked at Facebook and called my Mom and Dad.  My final useful act was to drive by the post office and mail my post cards (I elected not to walk, because it was raining).  I could not extend the trip into further useful shopping, because I forgot to bring a mask.

So I have gotten a few things done, but writing an interesting blog post was not one of them.  Alas!  I can only hope to do better on Wrist to Forehead Sunday.

No Scatter to my Saturday

Regular readers know I love to run around on a Saturday having Mohawk Valley Adventures to write about.  Everybody in the country knows we are all on at least semi-quarantine due to the corona virus. What, I ask you, is a blogger to do?

I also want to just mention that I rather resent the naming of thus virus.  Corona is one of my favorite beers AND and of my favorite typewriters!  I guess it has another name, Covid-19 or something.  I admit I have not been keeping up with things.

In any case, I have enjoyed my Saturday, even if I have not done anything blog-worthy.  I went for a run, I wrote a few postcards, I took a nap.  Eventually, Steven and I settled down to watch movies.  I finished a scarf and started an afghan.  I must go somewhere tomorrow to get more yarn.

For a while now I have been saying that I could use a weekend of just hanging out.  Now I have it.  And I realize a couple of weeks of same would be even more welcome.  Oh well, you can’t have everything.

I will strive to have real subjects to post about in the future, even with the national emergency of the C virus.  For today, I hope this will be enough.  If it is or if it isn’t,  happy Saturday all.

Antiques Sleigh Me

As part of our Scattered Saturday gyrations,  Steven and I stopped in at Mohawk Antiques Mall.  I had been saying we needed to visit again, and we were both glad we did.

I don’t remember “salvage” being part of the name, but it makes sense.

We spent some time wandering around, looking at stuff.  The great thing about antique stores is that the merchandise changes often.  Additionally, the Mohawk Mall has added a number of vendors.  We did not even make it upstairs!

I thought I should take a couple of pictures for my blog post.

“That sleigh, definitely, ” Steve said.

I should have gotten Steven to pose next to it for perspective.

It is a full size sleigh.  I would LOVE to have such a thing in my front yard.  If Frankentree was not taking up so much space. Actually, that particular sleigh is too nice to be left out to the elements,  and I do not have a big enough indoor space for it, so I was not too regretful to leave it there.

The piece I really wanted was a chair with a place for wine glasses. I noticed that as soon as we walked in the door.

“Not everybody has a chair like that,” another customer agreed.

What a place to lounge on a summer day!

I look forward to weather compatible with such furniture!  It being only January, I have a little time to save up money for the chair.  It is good to gave a goal for the new year.

Mohawk Antiques Mall is located at 100 E. Main St., Mohawk,  NY, phone number  315-219-5044.  They are open 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Wednesday through Saturday,  closed Tuesday.

Scenes from Saturday

Here’s a peaceful view.

I was going to do a Monstrous Monday post but accidentally hit Upload Files instead of Media Library.  So here is a picture I took from the deck at Newport Marketplace on Saturday.

A little too much sun, I’m afraid.

While at the Marketplace,  a gentleman recommended we check out the Newport Town Tavern.  It was right down the road, so why not?

Kim and Steven, enjoying a beverage.

We only stayed for one, but it was a very pleasant stop. Our first stop in Newport had been the Main Street Ristorante and Gift Shop, where we had a nice lunch before browsing the shop.

We had fun here too.

Just to include all of Saturday in this post, I will mention that before we left Herkimer we stopped by Valley Wine and Liquor for a wine tasting.

It was a nice little display.

In addition to wine, Kim and I sampled some hard lemonade.

Kim and the lemonade lady.

I cannot find the notebook where I noted the name of the lady pouring the lemonade.  The lady pouring the wine declined to be photographed.

So this is my post.  A few disjointed sentences about some random photos.  I’m going to call it a Muddled Monday and drive on.  As always, thank you for participating.

Slacking on a Semblance of a Post

I was going to have a Scattered Slacker Saturday post.  I have done a few things this weekend so far and thought I could write some semblance of a post merely listing them. However, as I sit here typing one letter at a time with the stylus on my Tablet I must confess, this is not so. I do not want to make a blog post at all!!!

I can only hope it has been a while since I have done a post about “I Can’t Make a Blog Post Today,” because that is just about all I am up to today.  How utterly dreadful of me. But why should I worry?  It has happened before and will happen again.  As usual, we must make the best of things.

Today has been a day of highs and lows for me.  We had a great couple of performances as Mummers Along the Mohawk.  Additionally, I enjoyed some musical performances at the Great American Irish Festival in Frankfort,  NY.  Why should I not write a blog post about one of those things?

For one reason, I am tired.  I went running this morning and did a load of laundry which I hung out on the line.  It has been a hot and humid day.  I continued to have Mohawk Valley Adventures after the aforementioned performance. And I am not feeling in the happiest mood for reasons too tiresome to mention.

Well, never mind my unhappy mood.  These things change with the passage of time.  I have made, as I hoped, some semblance of a blog post.  I will attempt a better blog post tomorrow.   As always,  I hope you’ll stay tuned.
