Slippers, Svengoolie and Steve on Sunday

I thought of that title before I had much idea of what to say. Full disclosure: I still don’t have much idea of what to say. However, I have two pictures in mind, so I do not despair of coming up with some semblance of a blog post. In my favor, it is Wrist to Forehead Sunday, one of my largely off the hook days.

Relaxing my tootsies.

Steven surprised me with these slippers last December. I was delighted with them and determined to only wear them for the Christmas season. For us, this often starts the day after Halloween. This benighted year, however, it had to wait till Steven came home (did I write a post about him being away? If so, I ought to have written another about his homecoming. Oh dear).

Be all that as it may, I put on my jingly footwear last night and posted a very popular picture of them on Facebook. I am wearing them again today. It is a pleasure to walk around the house.

One of my new favorite guys.

We watched a DVR’d episode of Svengoolie. I only recently discovered Svengoolie. Oh what I have been missing!

Speaking of missing things, I just checked and found that I did make a blog post about Steven being from home.  Well, he returned home Friday.  That is not so long ago that I have been horribly remiss in not mentioning it.  Full disclosure: the original title of this post was “Slippers and Svengoolie Sunday.”  I added Steven later.  I might worry that he would be miffed by such a thing, but I don’t think he reads my blog any more.

In the meantime,  I am approaching 300 words.  Not bad for Wrist to Forehead Sunday.

Just a Small Beer Belly

I did not spend Shop Small Saturday going around to a lot of distinctive local shops such as I love.  In my defense, for Mohawk Valley Girl, EVERY Saturday is Shop Small Saturday.  However, this afternoon I did make it to one of my favorite local businesses, so I will write a blog post about that.

Where else to buy beer?

When taking a picture of the sign, I noticed there is a new business in the building. I’ll have to check it out.  But today I was intent on beer.

Beer Belly Bear?

How could I resist taking a picture of the bear?   Every business should have an animal out front!

It’s not just beer!

I may come back to purchase one of these lovely wreaths. And if I ever take up fishing, I can come here for bait!

It did not take me long to grab the beer I sought, and now I am home making a blog post about it. I hope you all had a lovely Saturday, and may you Shop Small this Christmas. I intend to. I wonder how many people on my list would like beer.

Just Follow the Lame

Going down?

I was looking through my Media Library for pictures for a Lame Post Friday post, and this caught my eye. It is on the campus of Herkimer College (formerly HCCC). Which reminds me, it has been some time since I have been running in that area. I’ll have to work on that.

Going up?

And here is the back road going up to said campus. Full disclosure: I do not have a good plan for this blog post. I’m just sharing pictures and typing nonsense. But I feel this is OK on Lame Post Friday. Let’s see what other pictures I can find.

And here’s a flat stretch.

This is a stretch of sidewalk I run along very often. I do not remember why I originally took this particular picture.

Looks threatening.

This is my street. I include it for the awesome grey sky. I love a cloudy day.

So here is the post: down, up, level sidewalk, grey sky. If you like reading into those things, you could make up a good story about what has been going on in my life. As for me, I am close enough to 200 words for me to call it a blog post. Happy Friday, everyone!

Yay, Rock City Runners!

So I did one thing today. I volunteered for the Turkey Trot 5K sponsored by Rock City Runners of Little Falls, NY. My job was to (wo)man an intersection, keeping traffic at bay and runners on track. I was assigned an intersection above the hospital. It was a quiet zone.

I figured me cheering on runners was quiet enough.

I got there early and paced around waiting for the runners. They were to pass below me on Burwell, run by the ballfield, then by me and on. This will make sense to those familiar with Little Falls, but I imagine other readers will catch up. So to speak.

See the haze in the background?

This is looking down from where I stood. I could see the runners but distrusted my ability to photograph them.

I watched for runners from this direction.

When the runners went by me, I cheered them all on. I wished I was one of them but know that volunteers are important too.

My view most of the time.

It started to rain and pretty much did not stop, so I took a shot that showed my umbrella, for which I was grateful.

I must say it is more fun to run than volunteer, but I do not rule out doing it again. For one reason, I know I am contributing to a community event. This one raised funds for two local charities. Yay, Rock City Runners!

Picture Shopping

I love shit like this!

How about a Wordless Wednesday Post?  Of course, I am never entirely wordless.  However, earlier this afternoon, I stopped by Mohawk Valley Community Market and took several pictures.  The above was taken just as I walked through the door.

Santa Claus is coming to town!

The sign in the chair said when Santa will visit, but I did not make a note.  No doubt you can find out via their Facebook page.  I am sure social distancing rules will apply.

The handy site map was new since my last visit.

Is that gorgeous or what?

Here’s some beautiful glassware!

Of course I had to check out my friend Gil’s spot, One of a Kind by GS.

Renewed and Rescued, the original inhabitant of the space.

This is where they used to have clothes.

One last incidental table that caught my eye.

I love vendor marts like this, because you always see something different.  I will no doubt be back to Christmas shop.

Mohawk Valley Community Market is located at 140-142 N Main St., Herkimer, NY.  They are open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday,  10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.  Special hours may be in force for this weekend, but they will be open and obviously ideal for Shop Small Saturday.

Who, Me, Write?

I thought to myself, it has been a while since I have made a post about not being able to make a post. Ooh, I really CAN’T make a post today: I just re-wrote that last sentence four times! Yikes! My third sentence was going to refute the idea that I cannot make a post, BUT…

The fact is, I am completely disgusted with my inability to write lately. No, that is healthier than what I feel. Rather, I am disgusted with myself for not writing.

And there we have it. How can I write when I am clearly too disgusting of a person to do any such thing? Who wants to read anything written by a disgusting person? And so my thinking goes. Downward spirals are so easy to start, and even easier to maintain.

Intellectually, I know Not Writing does not make me a contemptible person. Many people do not write. The world is no doubt saved a lot of very dull writing thereby. Oh dear, that is not the direction I meant to take. I do not want to feel better about not writing. I WANT TO WRITE!

And here I am writing, and approaching 200 words. I can work on quality as I go. For now, I will call this a Tired Tuesday Post, hit Publish, and drive on. I will attempt to continue to write. Or continue to attempt to write. A future blog post may attempt to delineate the difference.

I Muddle Through Another Monday

These are my people.

I have been watching Deadly Women on Investigation Discovery and wondering what sort of a blog post I should make. After sharing pictures from horror movies yesterday, I did not want to make a Monstrous Monday Post. I did not run, so no Rumming Commentary Post. Perhaps a Muddled Monday.

Bonita loves to dress for the season.

Or I could just throw in a picture of our skeleton, Bonita. Her little friend usually gets put away with the Halloween stuff, but this year he had fallen on the floor and I missed him. Look how happy he is to get to stay out for Christmas!

I just put the boa and scarf on Bonita today. I’m afraid the gold scarf looks more like a pirate than a fashionista, but at least the color is right.

It’s a party!

I backed up to show a couple more of Bonita’s friends. We usually put Santa on the porch, but I wanted a little more light at that end of the room. Burt the Birtday Gorilla could probably use a red hat or something. I’ll work on it.

I did a few other chores today, job search and household. I have nothing major to report yet. I hope to wait until I actually have something to report and not make any cryptic Facebook posts like, “Time to make a big decision!” But no promises.

In the meantime, I am over 200 words. I say score, even for a Muddled Monday!

Note to Self: Get a Chaise Lounge

Here I sit, watching Berserk, Joan Crawford’s penultimate movie and wanting to make a blog post. I refrained from having Lame Post Friday, but I am afraid this will be Wrist-to-Forehead Sunday. I would like nothing better than to swoon on a handy chaise lounge, posed dramatically with the back of one wrist against my forehead.

There’s my Joan!

I don’t have a picture from Berserk in my Media Library, so I add one from I Saw What You Did. I find this one sufficiently dramatic for the occasion.

She looks pretty berserk here.

I add this shot from Straitjacket just for good measure. Who doesn’t love Joan Crawford with an axe?

I think it must be pretty clear that I am tired. In fact, if I did have a chaise lounge to swoon upon, I don’t know that I have the strength to get my wrist up to my forehead. I say there is no point in swooning if you cannot pose dramatically. But maybe I can find another picture to entertain.

The middle one is me headed for bed.

I swerve into non-sequitur territory with a picture of zombies. Joan Crawford never did a zombie movie. I expect I’ll be too tired to pop in Night of the Living Dead after Joan is done going Berserk. But perhaps I can summon enough energy to swoon properly.

Late Post from a Lush

So last night I was going to drink and type, only it didn’t work out for me.  So here is what I did last night.

I don’t know any of these people.

This is my view from Cacciatore’s Ristiorante in Ilion, NY. I was there with my friend Kim, celebrating my birthday a day early.  We had wine and garlic pizza with sausage and extra cheese. Yum!

What a lush I look like!

The shirt arrived at my house via DHL.  I still don’t know who sent it.  And of course I wore my tiara in honor of the day.

My lovely friend Kim.

So here is my short, late Saturday Post.  Judge me if you are so inclined, but please have a pleasant Sunday.

Monsters after Migraine

I look like one and feel like the other.

I am at the end (I hope) of a day long migraine but do not want to miss making a blog post. I thought I could manage a Throwback Thursday Post then thought it had been a while since I did monsters. How about Throwback Monsters? It! Could! Work! (That is a quote from Young Frankenstein, in case you didn’t know.)

“This is a good boy!”

I can tell I am getting old, because I can remember when Young Frankenstein was in theatres, and now it is an old movie. Perhaps we could substitute the term “vintage.”

“Who me? Old?”

Here is an even more vintage monster, my favorite, Nosferatu. He is scary, yes.

“Swimming, anyone?”

My post is becoming increasingly random as I just look for monsters and put them in. I say it is better than spending the entire post whining about my migraine. Is it? Discuss amongst yourselves.
