Wuss-out? Wayback? It’s Not Even Wednesday!

Yesterday was indeed a Wuss-out Wednesday.  I not only did not make my blog post, I did not do a whole lot else.  I went to work, I went to rehearsal for Love’s Labour’s Lost (perhaps you read some of my blog posts about the play I am in).  Oh, and I made Tuesday’s blog post before work (that was one of the posts about the play referred to in the earlier parenthetical comment).  I sat on the porch with my husband and enjoyed the evening, before and after rehearsal.  I consider that an important thing to do, even though it is not what one might call productive.

Never mind all that.  It is time to make another Some Post, Any Post (is that a category?  Perhaps it should be).  How about some Mid-Week Monsters (oh why isn’t it Friday, I lament).

Isn’t she sweet?

I combine Wuus-Out with Wayback by sharing a picture from 2016. OK, not very way back.  We got this lovely witch at Pumpkin Junction in Sauquoit, NY, one of your favorite places to go in October.  Full disclosure: this witch is still on our porch from last Halloween.  We dressed her as an angel at Christmas time.  Alas, we did not take a picture of that.

A good place to obtain monsters and other Halloween stuff.

Here is a picture of the main building of Pumpkin Junction.  They are only open in the fall. I will no doubt make at least one blog post about them at the time (preview of coming attractions).

I see I have somehow gotten over 250 words.  Score!  I need to go eat breakfast and fix my lunch.  Happy Wednesday/Thursday, everyone!

Wayback Walk after Wuss-Out?

So yesterday was a true Wuss-out Wednesday as I neglected to post at all. In my defense, shut up, explanations are tiresome. I am sitting at the dining-room-tabletop prior to five Thursday morning, and my main feeling is gratitude for coffee. I went for a half-hour walk so am torn between making a Pedestrian Post and a Way-back Wednesday Post. Since I would like to retain the option of making a Throwback Thursday Post later, I shall attempt the former.

I do love flowers.

Full disclosure: I still have not upgraded my WordPress account so cannot add new pictures. Here is one from a walk I took in July 2017, making this a Way-Back Wednesday as well as a Pedestrian Post. This is the extent of my ability to multi-task (unless cleaning my oven while I sleep is still a thing) (older readers get that). Fuller disclosure: I did not see this on this morning’s walk, although I did walk by this building. For one reason, it was still dark. However, if I had troubled to look, I could probably report on whether the purple flowers are there once again. I did not. Judge me if you are so inclined.

Teehee!

Here is a funny from a walk in July 2018. It was actually a cool-down walk after a run, just to make me feel a little sad to remember I have not been running since May. I found it on the sidewalk and took it home, taking this picture, because it amused me so much. I told my husband Steve it was probably for him, and his girlfriend had left it there for me to deliver.

I see I have not yet said anything about today’s walk. Oh well, it wasn’t such a much anyways, and I am almost at 300 words (that sentence put it over). I feel oddly pleased with this post, but perhaps I flatter myself. No matter. It’s time to get myself a little more coffee.

PS. Now it is 5 a.m.

Short, Late Post about Good Music and Food

Oops, I missed making my Wednesday blog post, a true Wuss-out Wednesday, I suppose. I did not have rehearsal, so naturally Steve and I went to Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort, NY for music and food. Stay home and study my lines, you suggest? I can do that later. Phil Arcuri was playing!

Old photo, but he still looks like this.

We chatted up our favorite bartender, Toni (although we like all the bartenders), and enjoyed a shrimp basket (Steve) and a Cuban wrap (me).

Another previously used photo.

I don’t have time to make a proper blog post (that is, 200 words) (by my rules for me), but for a late Wuss-out Wednesday Post, I hope this will do.

Blog Before Bed

I didn’t see any hump.

I do enjoy a four day week after a three day weekend. Those of you who work weekends and holidays, don’t hate on me. Hate on the people who don’t have to go to work at all! Just kidding. It is not good to hate on anything, even lima beans (yuck!) (incidentally, autocorrect changed “lima” to “Liam.” Who could hate on Liam Neeson? Dat’s crazy talk!).

In case you haven’t noticed, this is going to be one of my foolish posts. I just wanted to post tonight instead of tomorrow morning. I also already fixed my lunch. I might try to sleep in till five tomorrow. What a decadent thought!

Getting back to my four day week, I should feel happy that I have made it halfway through with so little problem. However, I am mostly noticing how once again I am getting very little done. This seems to be a recurring theme in my life as well as in this blog (then again, it is a blog about my life, so what do I expect?) (And why does autocorrect officiously change “lima” to “Liam” but let a legitimate typo like “expevt” stand?).

I feel it is good to keep foolish posts short, so I will sign off now. Counting this morning’s post as Tuesday, I am up to three days in a row!

No Power to Post

I did not post Monday, because I thought, how can I make a Monstrous Monday Post after sharing Vincent Price on Sunday. Oh, OK, I totally could have, I just didn’t. I thought I would be sure to post on Tuesday. Well, that did not work out.

Between Monday and Tuesday, the Mohawk Valley suffered a last (I hope) winter storm. When we got up Tuesday morning, snow was still falling heavily. The snowplow had been by a couple of times, filling in the end of our driveway, but the road still looked really bad. After much hesitation, I called in to work. Then the power went out.

It turned out trees were down everywhere, power was out in many places, lots of people missed work. Things kind of cleared up later in the day, and I took a walk, carefully skirting the fallen tree leaning on wires.

I suppose I could have overcome the lack of power somehow, but I lacked the ambition to do so. I barely scraped up the ambition to get to work today. However, getting ready by flash- and candlelight added interest to my morning.

When I got to work, I learned I was right to stay home. A co-worker who drives the same road I do told me he tried to come in but was prevented by a fallen tree. Steve called me at lunch time to tell me power had been restored. Phew!

So this is my Wuss-out Wednesday Post: a litany of excuses for not posting on Tuesday. Let’s all hope for something better on Thursday. As always, I hope you’ll stay tuned.

Making Lunch, Not a Blog Post

So I guess I did wuss out on Wednesday, not making any post at all. Right now it is Thursday morning, and I am pecking away on my Tablet, hoping to come up with something, anything, at least mildly entertaining. At least I have already had coffee.

In my defense, we went to Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort, NY, last night, where we had a lovely evening. We feasted on garlic wings and garlic knots (take that, vampires!), and listened to a duo on drums and acoustic guitar.

I took a couple of pictures, specifically for a blog post, but I still have to upgrade to include more pictures. Perhaps I can do that after work, and write a real post about our evening.

Right now, however, I have to finish getting ready for work. I just remembered I forgot to make my lunch. Maybe I could just take my leftover chicken wings.

What Kind of Wednesday?

How about a Wordless Wednesday Post? Oh yeah, as if I am ever wordless. I have always had a tendency to talk too much. Sometimes I have entertaining things to say, others not so much. Let me try for the former, with illustrations.

I wish!

We have enjoyed warm temperatures these last few days, and tomorrow is supposed to be even warmer. I am hoping to see some crocuses soon, although I’m afraid my lawn has too many of last year’s leaves in the way. However, I see brown leaves in this shot from March 2021, so I hold onto hope.

This doesn’t bode well.

Moving back to March 2020, I found several pictures with dark clouds. How appropriate for that benighted year. Benighted, by the way, is one of my favorite words.

That was as far as I got last night. I was looking for a picture from March 2019 and wondering if I shouldn’t bill this as a Wayback Wednesday Post (even a year ago can seem like way back) when my Media Library ceased to cooperate with me. So it became a Wuss-out Wednesday Post. It is early Thursday morning as I finish this, without coffee, by the way.

Suddenly I want to go for a walk.

Finally accessing March 2019, I find only one nature photograph. Bare tree, blue sky. I like it. It is symbolic of my brain, largely bare these days, yet retains that bit of optimism with the blue sky. I, too, strive to retain a bit of optimism.

At the beginning of this post, I hoped to entertain. I hit publish with the optimistic thought that I have (or once again, do I flatter myself?) and adjourn for a cup of coffee.

Shout-out to Steve

I wussed out on Wednesday by not making a post at all, but that’s OK, because now it is Thursday, March 3, my husband Steven’s birthday! I will do a Shout-out to Steve! And it will be a Wordless Wednesday Post using pictures from my Media Library.

I wish we’d see them again!

Here are Steve and I (we’re on the right) with a fun couple we had just met at Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort, NY. Hey, we have not been there in a while. We shall have to remedy the omission.

Fun with friends is always a good idea.

Here is Steve with our friend Jenna, at Rock Valley Brewing (formerly known as Iron Rock Brewing) in Little Falls. That is another place we need to go again.

Did Steve do it?

Here was a night we had a lot of fun! It was Donate to Murder, the murder mystery we presented to benefit the Herkimer County Historical Society. We may be doing another murder mystery soon (preview of coming attractions).

I love that moose!

I wanted to end with a picture of Steve and me. This is us at Copper Moose Ale House in Little Falls. Copper Moose recently re-opened, so that is another place we will have to go.

I guess I have managed to give a few brief shout-outs in addition to my Shout-out to Steve. Yay! And Happy Birthday, Steve!

In Haste, Late, and I Need Coffee!

I overslept! What a stupid thing to do! Talk about a Wuss-out Wednesday! This is a late post to begin with, and now it is going to be even more foolish than usual. If you can imagine such a thing (I can, but then I have a vivid imagination).

In my defense, I had rehearsal last night. I guess if that is going to be a defense, this blog is in for a lot of late, foolish posts in the near future. Until the blog becomes All Game Show All The Time. Game Show, for those of you just tuning in, is the play at Ilion Little Theatre that Steve and I both have parts in.

Last night’s rehearsal was a little less fun for me than Tuesday night’s, but you’ll have that. We are blocking right now, which I find the most boring portion of rehearsing any play. Blocking, in case you don’t know, is when the director tells the actors where they are supposed to move and when. Boring, but necessary. I have worked with a couple of directors who have not worked it out or, worse yet, just let the actors free to move where and when they please. Believe me, as rehearsals progress, you run into a lot more problems.

But I did not mean to digress into the mechanics of rehearsing a play. It might make a good blog post, but it is a subject that needs more time than I have right now, and, for me at least, should not be tackled before coffee. Speaking of which, my dear husband just handed me a mug of same. I’ll sign off now.

And I’m over 250 words. Phew!

Another Short Post About a Good Wednesday

My husband, Steve, and I just returned from a lovely Wednesday night at Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort, NY. Normally at this time I would be getting ready for bed and saying, “Oh hell, I can miss a day of blogging.” Yes, I can. However, I prefer not to.

He’s awesome!

Full disclosure: this is a picture from another night, found in my Media Library.

We sang along with many of his songs, sometimes changing the words. Instead of “Brown-eyed girl,” I sang to my “Green-eyed boy.” I was not the only one doing so. On another song, instead of, “Amy, what you wanna do?” Phil sang, “Cindy, ” etc. I was quite flattered.

We also enjoyed delicious food, served by our favorite bartender, Toni. We brought home leftovers. Yay!

So this is my short post. Call it a Wuss-out Wednesday and drive on.
