I Try to Make a Blog Post

A blogging question: if the post I made yesterday morning counted as Tuesday’s post, will a post I make this morning count for yesterday?  Second question:  does the first question merely call attention my failure to post Saturday and Sunday?   Third question:  am I completely flattering myself to think anybody notices or cares when I do or do not make a blog post?

Yes, I am once again writing about not writing.  I am having a hard time writing about anything else, and, yes, I have tried.  Oh, please do not quote Yoda at me!  A co-worker once did that to me.  For the Star Wars illiterates, if any (and I confess, I personally did not see all the movies), the quote I am talking about is, “Do or do not.  There is no try.”

“Don’t go Yoda on me!”  I said.

“Talk backwards I did not,” he replied, in a Yoda-like voice.

Have I shared that story before?

Anyways, the problem I have with “there is no try” is this:  There is too!  You can sit on your butt and do nothing; that is not even trying.  Or you can make an attempt and fail.  At least you tried!

That last paragraph brought me to exactly 200 words.  I’m going to call this a Wuss-out Wednesday Post.  At least I tried!

I Did Not Wuss Out Of My Run

I knew it would be a good idea to run today.  I had neither run nor walked for two days.  Accordingly,  I spent part of my day at work telling myself I would run.  I pictured myself putting on running clothes and getting out there.  I planned how I would put in a load of laundry while I ran (pretty much the extent of my ability to multi-task).  I told myself it would make a good blog post.  What I specifically tried NOT to do was tell myself that I needed to run, or that I ought to run, or should run.  Thus I use these little semantic tricks to back into doing what is good for me.

Some readers are now waiting for me to explain how I succeeded in talking myself out of running (you know who you are).  My back hurt, I could run tomorrow, there was no 5K looming to get myself into shape for, etc.  Well, I did not succeed in that but rather went for a run and am now hoping to get some semblance of a blog post out of it.

It was a beautiful fall day, sunny and warm, but not too warm.  I got my laundry in.  I set out.  Where to run?  Which direction to take?  I decided to take German Street to Main and go by my beloved Herkimer Historic Four Corners.  For one reason, I could probably find a picture of that to illustrate my post.

Found one!

Ah, here is the 1834 Jail.  I love that place!  I ran by it and on down to Basloe Library (yes, autocorrect,  it is BASLOE Library, not the Be slow Library; what the hell kind of library is the Be slow Library, for heavens sake?) (and I did mean hell not he’ll!).  The library’s sign was missing (Basloe or Be slow).  I wondered what that was all about.

My body was not best pleased to be running, but I managed to keep it up for 20 minutes.  I saw some fun Halloween decorations along the way and petted a sweet puppy on my cool down walk.  I managed to get my load of laundry into the drier (and the non-drier items hung up elsewhere), but unfortunately that was the extent of my ambition.  The laundry is still in the drier, and this will have to do for my blog post.  I think it is OK for a Wuss-out Wednesday.

Wussed Out and Not Very Way Back

Yikes, look at the time!  As usual, I wussed out on Wednesday and did not make my blog post till now, early Thursday morning.  But not as early as I usually make my blog posts.  Never mind why; explanations are tiresome.  I feel I must confess, moreover, that I do not have my usual excuse for not posting yesterday.  We did not indulge in our usual treat of music and food at Fratello’s in Frankfort, NY.  I was just tired.

One reason I was tired was that I went on a run.  I ran faster than I usually do, especially on a week day.  This, of course, is not nearly as fast as others run, but one does what one can.  Still, since I had just about talked myself out of running at all, I thought I done good.  Unfortunately, it was not a particularly memorable run, making a Running Commentary Post ineligible.

How about a Way-Back Wednesday post instead?  I wonder if I can find something old in my computer downloads, just as something different from my Media Library.

Aren’t they cute?

Here is an oldish picture of our dear friends, Phyllis and Jim, dressed for Halloween.   We lost Phyllis in 2021, and I miss her dearly.   I treasure my memories.

Another great memory.

Here are Phyllis and Jim plus Steve, at Salvatore’s Pizzeria in Herkimer, NY.  Three of my favorite people at one of my favorite places!

So I guess it is not a very far back Wednesday.  A Little Ways Back Wednesday?  However, it does me good to remember my lovely friend Phyllis.  We’ll have to get together with Jim again soon (preview of coming attractions).

In the meantime, I have gotten myself up to nearly 300 words.  Score! If I also have time to eat breakfast, it will not be a bad Thursday morning for me.

In My Defense, Music!

This is a late Wuss-out Wednesday Post. In my defense, we went to Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort, NY for food and music, one of our favorite things to do.  In my accusation (I never did figure out a good word for the opposite of “defense” in these situations), when we came home we watched a DVR’d episode of Reasonable Doubt, another of my favorite things.

I have other pictures to share, but this popped up when I hit “Add Media.”

Steven got a Shrimp Basket while I had a Chicken Wing Wrap, only with grilled instead of fried chicken. Yum!  Steven did not recognize the musician and asked his name.  The bartender said, “Jonathan.”  I remembered seeing him before and later looked him up in one of my adventure books (that is my fancy name for blank books or notebooks I carry around with me to make notes), Jonathan Minter.

Very talented guy.

I was not familiar with most of the tunes he played, but I sure dug the acoustic guitar.  We were also delighted when my niece Kimi and her boyfriend, Matt, showed up.  Fratello’s gets the best clientele!

Cute couple!

Back home, we paused in our true crime viewing to admire a rainbow.  I took a picture which does not do it justice.

I pointed it out to a couple of passersby. I feel the need to share beauty.

It was altogether a very enjoyable evening, with the result that I overslept this morning. A small price to pay.

Is This Any Way to Make a Blog Post?

Oh dear, it is the Type It In Backspace It Out Disease.  That is no way to make a blog post!  Hmm, that sounds like it could be a title.  Actually I am feeling right now that there is no way I can make a blog post, which is a little silly, because, well, here we are.  I am thinking this going to be a Wuss-out Wednesday Post.

It is still summer, isn’t it?

I threw in a picture to pep things up.  It is our skeleton, Bonita and her friend Bonaparte in summer mode.  We are beginning to get whiffs of fall these days, but it is definitely August.  We will still feel plenty of heat.

Pretty! Alas, they are no more.

Speaking of August,  here is a shot from August 2020.  I hope to up my gardening game in 2023.  Of course, I will be upping it from zero, so it will not be difficult to make some improvement.

My current mood?

From August 2019, I find some cloudy skies.  I love a cloudy, gloomy day.

It’s scary!

I close with a picture from Horror Hotel, because, hey, why not Mid-Week Monsters?

So this is my blog post.  I share pictures and babble on.  Did I mention I am still tired?  Oh, that was some of the stuff I typed in and backspaced out.

What Post? How About Some Pics?

What a surprise, that I should wuss out on Wuss-out Wednesday, especially when I had rehearsal (my autocorrect keeps wanting to capitalize “rehearsal” just because I had caps lock on in a recent message I sent) (in my defense, I felt strongly about it) (and lowercase “rehearsal” is getting underlined).

Enough with the parenthetical comments, on with the post!  I shall share a few more rehearsal shots.  I took a bunch to submit with my article for Mohawk Valley Living magazine, and they only used one.  They printed the article, yay!  If you want to pick up a copy and read it, which I encourage you to do,  it is available at Stewart’s shops and advertisers’ locations.

They are not playing jump rope.

This is a very funny scene, among many.  I feel I don’t flatter myself,  because I am not in it and so have perspective.

“He speaks the mere contrary!”

It is a little difficult, looking between my Media Library and device, trying not to upload the same picture  twice.  Wow, it is true what my co-workers say: I AM always whining!

I picked one with more people in it.

This is another of my favorite scenes.  Full disclosure:  hey are almost all my favorite scenes.

Local readers, I cordially invite you to come see Love’s Labour’s Lost, presented by LiFT, Little Falls Theatre Company, 1 p.m., Saturday and Sunday,  Aug. 13 and 14, 2022, at Benton’s Landing, Little Falls NY.  It is part of the Canal Celebration festivities, and it is FREE!

PS.  Autocorrect wants to call it “Benson’s Landing.”  Wasn’t he on a TV show in the ’70’s?

Wuss-out? Wayback? It’s Not Even Wednesday!

Yesterday was indeed a Wuss-out Wednesday.  I not only did not make my blog post, I did not do a whole lot else.  I went to work, I went to rehearsal for Love’s Labour’s Lost (perhaps you read some of my blog posts about the play I am in).  Oh, and I made Tuesday’s blog post before work (that was one of the posts about the play referred to in the earlier parenthetical comment).  I sat on the porch with my husband and enjoyed the evening, before and after rehearsal.  I consider that an important thing to do, even though it is not what one might call productive.

Never mind all that.  It is time to make another Some Post, Any Post (is that a category?  Perhaps it should be).  How about some Mid-Week Monsters (oh why isn’t it Friday, I lament).

Isn’t she sweet?

I combine Wuus-Out with Wayback by sharing a picture from 2016. OK, not very way back.  We got this lovely witch at Pumpkin Junction in Sauquoit, NY, one of your favorite places to go in October.  Full disclosure: this witch is still on our porch from last Halloween.  We dressed her as an angel at Christmas time.  Alas, we did not take a picture of that.

A good place to obtain monsters and other Halloween stuff.

Here is a picture of the main building of Pumpkin Junction.  They are only open in the fall. I will no doubt make at least one blog post about them at the time (preview of coming attractions).

I see I have somehow gotten over 250 words.  Score!  I need to go eat breakfast and fix my lunch.  Happy Wednesday/Thursday, everyone!

Wayback Walk after Wuss-Out?

So yesterday was a true Wuss-out Wednesday as I neglected to post at all. In my defense, shut up, explanations are tiresome. I am sitting at the dining-room-tabletop prior to five Thursday morning, and my main feeling is gratitude for coffee. I went for a half-hour walk so am torn between making a Pedestrian Post and a Way-back Wednesday Post. Since I would like to retain the option of making a Throwback Thursday Post later, I shall attempt the former.

I do love flowers.

Full disclosure: I still have not upgraded my WordPress account so cannot add new pictures. Here is one from a walk I took in July 2017, making this a Way-Back Wednesday as well as a Pedestrian Post. This is the extent of my ability to multi-task (unless cleaning my oven while I sleep is still a thing) (older readers get that). Fuller disclosure: I did not see this on this morning’s walk, although I did walk by this building. For one reason, it was still dark. However, if I had troubled to look, I could probably report on whether the purple flowers are there once again. I did not. Judge me if you are so inclined.

Teehee!

Here is a funny from a walk in July 2018. It was actually a cool-down walk after a run, just to make me feel a little sad to remember I have not been running since May. I found it on the sidewalk and took it home, taking this picture, because it amused me so much. I told my husband Steve it was probably for him, and his girlfriend had left it there for me to deliver.

I see I have not yet said anything about today’s walk. Oh well, it wasn’t such a much anyways, and I am almost at 300 words (that sentence put it over). I feel oddly pleased with this post, but perhaps I flatter myself. No matter. It’s time to get myself a little more coffee.

PS. Now it is 5 a.m.

Short, Late Post about Good Music and Food

Oops, I missed making my Wednesday blog post, a true Wuss-out Wednesday, I suppose. I did not have rehearsal, so naturally Steve and I went to Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort, NY for music and food. Stay home and study my lines, you suggest? I can do that later. Phil Arcuri was playing!

Old photo, but he still looks like this.

We chatted up our favorite bartender, Toni (although we like all the bartenders), and enjoyed a shrimp basket (Steve) and a Cuban wrap (me).

Another previously used photo.

I don’t have time to make a proper blog post (that is, 200 words) (by my rules for me), but for a late Wuss-out Wednesday Post, I hope this will do.

Blog Before Bed

I didn’t see any hump.

I do enjoy a four day week after a three day weekend. Those of you who work weekends and holidays, don’t hate on me. Hate on the people who don’t have to go to work at all! Just kidding. It is not good to hate on anything, even lima beans (yuck!) (incidentally, autocorrect changed “lima” to “Liam.” Who could hate on Liam Neeson? Dat’s crazy talk!).

In case you haven’t noticed, this is going to be one of my foolish posts. I just wanted to post tonight instead of tomorrow morning. I also already fixed my lunch. I might try to sleep in till five tomorrow. What a decadent thought!

Getting back to my four day week, I should feel happy that I have made it halfway through with so little problem. However, I am mostly noticing how once again I am getting very little done. This seems to be a recurring theme in my life as well as in this blog (then again, it is a blog about my life, so what do I expect?) (And why does autocorrect officiously change “lima” to “Liam” but let a legitimate typo like “expevt” stand?).

I feel it is good to keep foolish posts short, so I will sign off now. Counting this morning’s post as Tuesday, I am up to three days in a row!
