Is This Life in the Fast Lame?

I said, “I have to make my blog post.  Thank goodness it’s Lame Post Friday!”  Still, even a lame post is a post that must be composed, typed in and published.  Well, let’s get on with it.  Full disclosure:  I have no random observations or half-baked philosophy to offer today.  I am going to share a few pictures and make a few remarks about them.  Let me look at my Media Library…

Why is this not part of my coffee cup collection?

Here’s a show I have not seen in a long time: Deadly Women, hosted by Candace DeLong.  It is one of those shows where the narrator tells you the story while actors act it out with some dialogue.  Yes, what I call a re-enactment-fest, but I like it.  I should just mention that Friday is usually one of my true crime show nights, with Dateline: Secrets Uncovered on Oxygen.

I just loves me some Dateline.

We were watching Dateline, but the next episode covered Dalia Dippolito (why doesn’t she spell her name with an “h” like the flower?).  Steven wasn’t into it.  He wanted to watch People’s Court, but Judge Mathis was on at the time.  I confess to being somewhat fond of Judge Mathis. I like it when the litigants hug it out after the case.

Yeah, he’s cool.

People’s Court with Judge Marilyn Milian is on at six. After that, maybe we can get back to Dateline.

Steven want her to be his girlfriend.

So this is my exciting Friday night.  I’m sitting around in my sweats, watching judge or true crime shows, and typing in lame blog post.  Have a nice weekend, everyone!

Post-Christmas Crime

I bet you thought I was going to say, “Post Christmas Lame.”  Well, this is Lame Post Friday, but as I am watching episode after episode of Dateline: Secrets Uncovered, and Crime and Christmas are alliterative, I went another way.

I like all the different Datelines.

I had originally intended to watch movies this afternoon, but I got interested in the first Dateline, and it turned out to be a two hour episode.  The next episode was a case that was also covered by Snapped.  I can never resist those!

I loves me some Snapped!

I knew I had to make my blog post, but I watched that episode till the end, because I could not remember exactly what happened (I watch a lot of these true crime things; I can’t keep track of all the details).  I started this post as the next Dateline started.  It is a case we have seen before, definitely not on a Snapped, because it is the husband accused of killing the wife and not vice versa.   Once again, I do not remember all the details, and it is a two hour episode.  Will we watch the whole thing or switch over to a monster movie?  Hmmmmm….

In any case, having something interesting to watch helps ease my post-Christmas letdown somewhat.  When I am feeling blue, murder or monsters often help.

Avoiding Murder and Mayhem on Lame Post Friday

I had kind of sort of hoped to not have a Lame Post Friday today, but it seems that is all I am up to.  And I want to do it quickly so I can get back to knitting and watching television.  I got home from work late and started out with Deadly Women on ID, which I find cheesy fun.  I was not paying a good deal of attention, since I was also checking my Facebook and email.

I’d LOVE to add this to my mug collection, even though I have more than too many coffee mugs now.

It turned out Steven was not in the mood for murder and mayhem.  I said, “Go ahead and watch whatever you want.”  He wanted Soapdish.  I said OK, but he sensed I was not that into it.  Finally I suggested Wonderboys, which is one of his favorites as well as mine (full disclosure:  so is Soapdish, but I just wasn’t in the mood tonight).

OK, I just went all over Facebook and even into Google Images and I can’t find a picture of Wonderboys I can download.  That is my computer illiteracy at work.

I found one!  I found one!  I searched “Michael Douglas actor” in Facebook and scrolled through 8,536 pictures till I found this one.  I really like Michael Douglas in this movie, because he lets himself be kind of seedy.  I like the movie, too, because it is about writers and writing. I really need to up my own writing game.

For now, however, in keeping with Lame Post Friday, I will instead up my knitting game.  For one reason, I need to get a few prayers shawls ahead, in case somebody needs one.   And after I finish the prayer shawl I’m working on, I need to make a couple of baby afghans.  It will be a marvelous excuse to watch more television. Happy Friday, everyone.

I can only hope Steven will be into more murder and mayhem at some point.

I’m Totally Guilty of Having a Slacker Saturday

I like regular Dateline, too.

I was all set to wait till tomorrow and do two blog posts, but then I thought, “Oh, do a stupid post.  It won’t be any worse that what you would do tomorrow morning.”  Well, it may be worse, it may be better, but here is my Scattered Saturday post. Oh, OK, it is really a Slacker Saturday.  I am a slacker blogger; I admit it.

As you may guess, we are watching Dateline: Secrets Uncovered.  That guy totally did it.  My husband Steven tells me I would make a louse juror.  He proves it thusly:

Steven (pretending to be an attorney during jury selection):  Can you listen to the evidence objectively?

Me (being me):  Yes, but he totally did it.

I actually was a juror once, not for a murder trial.  In fact, we found the guy guilty, but I believe the evidence showed it.

We may watch it again tomorrow.

Earlier we watched Snapped.  I know, the graphic says “Every Sun,” and today is Saturday. I cannot always be strictly accurate.

Regarding what else we did today: we did some yard work, we walked to the post office to mail my weekly post cards, we went on a Mohawk Valley adventure that I hope to write a whole blog post about.  I did not do as much as I sometimes do on a Saturday.  You’ll have that.

In the meantime, I’m up to 200 words.  That is what I consider respectable.  As usual, I’ll try for a better blog post tomorrow.  Happy Saturday, everyone!

The Glop Factor on Lame Post Friday

I am cooking with wine, and by “cooking with wine” I mean sitting here typing into my laptop, sipping wine and waiting for the macaroni to cook.  I am making macaroni and cheese with little hot dogs, mushrooms, and whatever else I decide to throw in at the time (about two more minutes now).  Ah, Friday.  The day I am happy the week is over and not yet annoyed with myself for not getting anything done over the weekend.  And the home of Lame Post Friday.  What can I come up with today?

OK, the stuff is in the oven.  I am looking at true crime television.  20/20 on OWN right now, but I might switch it to Dateline: Secrets Uncovered on Oxygen.  Oops, it is 20/20 on ID, on the channel OWN.  20/20 on OWN is on at six.  I noted that just now when I went to double check which Dateline it was (I thought it was Real Life Mysteries, but I was mistaken).  I don’t know why I go into such detail, but I feel better when I am strictly accurate.

I was supposed to have the minor Mohawk Valley adventure of driving into Rome this afternoon.  However, when I left work snow was falling quite copiously.  I called my mother and we decided to put the visit off.  I hesitated because I felt it was the kind of day that, if I drove into Rome it would be horrible, but if I went home and put on my sweats, the sun would immediately shine.  Mom did not think the sun was in danger of shining, and it turns out she was right.  As I slid a few times driving home — and I don’t drive fast — I felt we had made the right decision.

I just checked on the macaroni and cheese.  Note to self:  stop trying to put mozzarella cheese in baked macaroni and cheese; it just gets gloppy.  I seem to recall mentioning the glop factor in a previous blog post (I’m not going to look for it, although I may have tagged it “gloppy,” knowing me).  Do I ever learn?  Time will tell.

Just Throw in Some Monsters and Hit Publish

“This is far too much work for a Friday.”

When in doubt, lead with a monster.  I have no memory of where I got this picture, but it was in my Media Library, and I am in a Frankenstein monster kind of a mood tonight.  This is not a problem on Lame Post Friday.  I’ll just make a couple of random observations, maybe throw in a little half-baked philosophy, hit Publish, and be on my way.  I had such a day at work today, but never mind that. This is not a work blog, after all.  As regular readers know, I usually put very little work at all in here.  Don’t judge me.

Hands up, everybody who think Cindy is a lousy blogger!

Another shot I cannot readily identify, but I remember using it at some point.  In fact, I do not intend to watch any Frankenstein movies tonight.  I was looking at Snapped but now Dateline: Secrets Uncovered is on.  I love Dateline.  Oh crap, it’s a stupid episode I don’t like.  I put it on another episode of Dateline on another channel.

Oh, I just realized, this Dateline is a case that was featured on Snapped.  I must stop typing and watch this show.  First I’ll hit Publish.

No Pictures, But Lots of Plans

Well, here I am, after 7 p.m. on Lame Post Friday and no post anywhere in my brain.  So I sit down, start typing, and hope for the best.  Before I started typing, I went to Facebook and looked for an image to download from the show we’re watching.  It is Dateline: Secrets Uncovered on Oxygen.  We watch a lot of Oxygen, because they show a lot of Snapped, one of my favorites.  This particular episode of Dateline was a case that was also covered on Snapped.  I LOVE to see the same crime on more than one show!

Oxygen has what they call “Crime Time Weekends,” where they show LOTS of true crime shows.  I am a well-known addict of true crime.  Um, not committing it. Reading about it and watching television shows about it.  The real documentary shows, not what I call the reenactment-fests.

However, I do not intend to have a “Crime Time Weekend” of my own.  I have plans.  Tomorrow I am going to go running (preparing for the East Herkimer Fire Department 5K Race!)  I may also walk to the post office, after writing my usual post cards, just for a little more exercise.  Later on Saturday, I plan to attend the Flood Relief Benefit for Rocky Rockwell, an area veteran who lost his house to flooding earlier this year.  In between these two activities, I have to figure out what to wear to the latter, always a traumatic experience for me (perhaps that will form the subject of Saturday’s blog post) (preview of coming attractions).

Sunday will be spent watching Halloween movies with my lovely husband, Steven, with a few breaks to work on our lines for A G.R.A.V.E. Murder, the murder mystery dinner theatre we are doing to benefit the Herkimer County Historical Society.  I think I know my lines pretty well, but it is well to be sure about these things.

So this is my Friday Lame Post.  No pictures but lots of plans (would that be a good title for this post?  I’ll ask Steven).
