I’ll Have to Work on the Pun

I don’t know if I should acquiesce in being not daily blogger (sporadic blogger?  thrice weekly blogger? non blogger?) or get used to most of my posts beginning with an apology for missing days.  It is a conundrum.  I think.

I just paused to look up “conundrum” (in an old dictionary, you know, the kind that is a book) (in case any of you thought I might be catching up with the 21st century).  One definition is anything that puzzles, so that is OK.  However, the first definition says it is a riddle whose answer involves a pun.  I love puns!  Of course I cannot think of any right off hand, but if I can come up with an answer to my particular conundrum that involves a pun, what a triumph that would be!

He looks sad. Don’t be sad, Vincent!

Once again, I throw in a picture to pep things up.  This is a publicity still from The Tingler, one of my favorite William Castle movies.  It stars Vincent Price, for those of you who do not recognize him in the picture (poor uninformed wretches).  I saw something at work yesterday  (never mind what;  it would take too long to explain) that was shaped like the Tingler, and I thought, ooh!  I began to plan a William Castle Weekend, where I would watch cheesy movies and knit.  I thought I would even make my Lame Post Friday blog post about it.  And then I did not make a Friday blog post.

I knew she would like this dress!  I think she wore it for a murder mystery once.

When in doubt, throw in a beautiful blonde.   This is my bestie, Kim, at Renewed and Rescued in 2019.  This was before Renewed was the anchor store of Mohawk Valley Community Market.  I include this picture, because I may not sit home on my couch today (it is Saturday, by the way) but go out on a few Mohawk Valley Adventures.  Mohawk Valley Community Market may be one stop.

I see I am over 300 words.  So I have, an apology for not posting, a picture from a cheesy horror movie, and a brief shout out to a local business.  I am going to say OK and hit publish.  As always, thank you for tuning in.

Mohawk Valley Community Market is located at 142 N. Main St., Herkimer, NY, phone number 315-219-9195.

It’s Almost Christmas!

I am under orders to make a blog post today. Never mind from who; explanations are tiresome. Likewise never mind why I have not posted since Sunday. Here I am. What sort of blog post can I make?

This afternoon I got together with my friend Kim. After taking care of a couple of chores, we decided to make a stop at Heelpath Brewing in Frankfort, NY. We had not been there in a while. We were delighted to have a fun time there today.

We were happy that the first thing we saw, before even going into the place, was a nice dog. Of course we asked to pet her and quickly realized we knew her doggy daddy, one of the proprietors of Raindrops on Roses Bed and Breakfast in Herkimer. We have enjoyed their wine tasting room a few times.

Look how cute she is!

She came up to us for pets a few times. I eventually got a picture of her.

Kim and I enjoyed wine from Rustic Ridge Winery of Burlington Flats: Sweet Little Blond for her, Untamed White for me. We loved the Christmas decorations and had some pleasant conversations with other patrons.

Now I am home and ready to relax.

I hope you are all enjoying this Christmas Eve Eve as well.

About That Party…

I guess workday mornings before work are my times to make blog posts these days as my Tablet continues to foil me and my body rebels from sitting up at the dining-room-table-top.  What’s up with that, body?  My mind seems to be giving me a few problems too.  Just now the word “sitting” was underlined in blue and it took me a few minutes to figure out where the extra “t” was (I had typed “stitting”).  Then I left out one set of “in” in “dining room” and I had to ponder which “in” it was, the one in “din” or the one in “ing.”

Be all that as it may, here is some semblance of a post to try to start my week on the right foot.  In my last post, I was requested to share pictures of my costume from Friday, when my friend Kim and I went to a Halloween party featuring our favorite band, The Posers.  I had a little problem there and this is the best I can come up with this morning.

I think it is a kind of a cool shot.

This is my shadow in the parking lot of Ilion Elks Lodge, before we went into said party.  You can at least see that I am wearing a cape and have a bat on my head.  I only got one picture of the band.

They are awesome, yes!

We had a fun time at the party, dancing to a lot of great tunes.  I had not brought my Tablet with me, because I did not want to worry about it when I was on the dance floor (it is still taking OK pictures for me at least).  I had my phone in a little bag looped on a scarf around my waist.

And I see I am up to 300 words (more with this paragraph!).  I call it respectable for a Monday morning.  Once again, I will strive to improve as the week wears on.

What Am I Supposed To Be?

Prior to 5 a.m. and prior to work is not the appropriate time to make a Lame Post Friday post.  I’m just saying.  However, I am sitting here, grateful for my first cup of coffee, and determined to make a blog post so it will be at least three days in a row.  Yesterday in my title I threatened to make this blog All Lights, Camera, Murder! All The Time, but I am not yet ready to actually do so.  For one reason, I neglected to take any pictures at last night’s rehearsal.  It was not really all that memorable.  Speaking of memorable, I need to get to work learning my lines.

It’s hard to get a shot of the whole band.

My dilemma today is what to wear tonight.  My friend Kim and I plan to go to a Halloween Party at Ilion Elks Lodge, featuring our favorite band, The Posers.  That shot is from an evening they played there last January.

I usually have little problem coming up with a costume.  I have a large collection of costumes and costume pieces from previous Halloweens and plays I was in, in addition to a lot of stuff I have picked up along the way, just waiting for the opportunity to use them.  Tonight, however, the temperature is supposed to be unseasonably warm.  The Elks Club, with all the people sure to attend the party, will probably be steaming.  Even if not too bad, once we start boogying down to the great sounds of The Posers, I will no doubt begin to sweat.  The black velvet gown and red-lined cloak, which is my go-to costume as a common or garden ghoul, will not be that comfortable.

If only I had a long enough blond wig, I could go as Lady Godiva (I just said that with the devilish intention of giving some of you an unfortunate mental image) (you know who you are).  I suppose I could wear what I wore to the DooDah Parade some years ago.  As I recall, I mentioned in a previous blog post that I put that outfit together merely with the intention of keeping cool.

Bonus! I could wear my tiara!

My problem with that is, people would ask me what I was supposed to be, and I do not know what I could tell them.  On a float in a parade (I always insist on riding in the Doodah Parade), viewers are forced to draw their own conclusions.  Being me, of course, I suppose I could make something up.  So my assignment for today is (1) figure out what I am supposed to be in the above get-up or (2) come up with something else.

In the meantime, I have (pre-1) come up with a respectable-length blog post for the third day in a row.  I like to celebrate every small win.

Slacker? At Least It Is On Saturday

So I need to make a post today, after posting yesterday after missing three days.  I confess to feeling some discouragement about gettting no likes on yesterday’s post.  Admittedly it was not the best of posts.  I am having a hard time here, people!

I got a few things done. I had a VA appointment on my laptop (dining room table top, as regular readers know).  I did the dishes (anybody who feels I should do the dishes every day may feel free to judge me).  I mowed my lawn, starting my power mower BY MYSELF.  That was pretty big.  To those of you who have no problems with these things, well, that is nice for you.

Later on I got together with my friend Kim, and we had some fun, although nothing particularly blog-worthy.  We went to Little Falls, NY but later hung out on my front porch.  It was a delightfully lovely day, although we felt a bit too warm walking down the street under the bright sun while in Little Falls.

I guess this is kind of a Slacker Saturday post.  In my defense I am making it ON Saturday.  I feel that should count for something.  If you do not agree, please say why in a comment.  I am always pleased to get comments.

Melancholy about Monday

It is time for a Wrist to Forehead Sunday Post, as I sit, poised to swoon, posed dramatically posed with the back of one wrist against my forehead.  Why do I STILL not have a chaise lounge to swoon upon?

And it doesn’t look like it is going to be a good one!

I just had a fun time with my friend Kim at Yetty’s Pizzeria in Herkimer, NY.  We ate fattening food.  We drank wine.  We chatted with our friend Piel, the bartender.

He’s so sweet!

However, now it is getting later in the evening and Monday looms larger.  I guess I am not in too much dread of it.  I live through Monday every week;  it hasn’t killed me yet.  Additionally,  I have not had all that much wine.  If you drink too much because you dread Monday, you give yourself a very good reason to fear Monday.

I guess I always feel a little melancholy about this time of the weekend, because I am thinking about all the things I thought I was going to get done which I did not.  I tend to have an exaggerated notion of what I can get done in any given amount of time.

Therefore, I will not beat myself up.  At least I got my blog post done.  The other things will get done or they won’t.  A little uncertainty adds interest to my week.

No Music, But Food and Fun!

After enjoying Brookwood Summer Market on Sunday, my friend Kim and I were hungry so went to Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort for a snack.  We brought the bouquets we had purchased at the market.  The bartender nicely gave us cups to put them in.

The obligatory shot of me toasting.

As you can see, I got myself a pair of fingerless gloves from Herkimer Handknits.  It is the second pair for me, but I have yet to get a good picture of the first pair (preview of coming attractions).

This is Kim toasting her bouquet.

Kim did not purchase gloves but instead found this gorgeous bracelet.  I may have to borrow it sometime.

Isn’t she cute?

Here is our excellent bartender.   I asked her name but foolishly did not write it down.

And of course Gino was there.

As long as I was getting pictures, I snapped one of Gino.

Kim and I enjoyed calamari, French fries, and chicken wings.  She also got a wrap sandwich but only ate a bite or so.  She took the rest home to enjoy later.  I brought home a few chicken wings myself (and have already eaten them).

While we were there, I asked about upcoming musical entertainment.  Phil Arcuri will be there Wednesday (that’s tomorrow!) And the Playin’ Again Band will be there Friday.  Can I go to Fratello’s three times in one week?  It could happen!

Fun at Brookwood Market

I thought I might have a Scattered Sunday Post when I took a walk to Brookwood Summer Market in Herkimer, NY.  I had taken another walk earlier and thought to get together with my friend Kim later for further shenanigans.

Tom Maneen, he is fine, yes!

I walked around the vendors and enjoyed music by Tom Maneen.  However, I was hoping to return later with Kim and with more money to spend.

You can’t see their wares from here.

I wandered around and took a couple of pictures.

Still, you can see the tents.

There were a number of vendors with tempting wares.  I needed to get myself to an ATM and get some cash.

I got some extra exercise strolling by the market.  Spoiler alert:  I did return later with Kim and bought a few things, Kim nicely driving me to an ATM first.  We adjourned to Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort where we took a couple of pictures of our purchases.  I will let that form the substance of tomorrow’s blog post.

Brookwood Summer Market runs on alternate Sundays in Brookwood Park in Herkimer, NY through October.   You can catch them September 17, October 1 and 15.  You can follow them on Facebook for more information.

I Do Not Labor For My Pre-Labor Day Friday Lame Post

Can I make my Lame Post Friday post while it is still Friday?  Let us see.

My headache was gone when I arose this morning, only for my back to be stiff and painful.  What the hell, body?   I had to go to work; if you call in sick just before a three-day weekend, they do not pay you for the holiday.  Still, I find a backache easier to deal with than a headache, so I counted my blessings.  Then the backache abated before I left for work, so Score!

Work was not heinous.  It rarely is, so I have that going for me.  After work, I enjoyed wine on the front porch with my friend Kim.  I continued to sip a little indoors after Kim went home.  I also enjoyed a DVD of Columbo. Who doesn’t love a little murder and mayhem to start the weekend right?

Love that raincoat.

Looking forward to my three-day weekend (don’t hate me, those of you who do not get one; I too suffered years of such abuse), I wonder what I can do that will make a better blog post.  I can think of a few possibilities, but I make no promises.  I may spend my time watching cheesy movies and drinking champagne.  I have a couple of bottles in the fridge for just such a contingency.

One of my favorites!

Incidentally, this is far from the worst movie ever made.  Have I written a blog post about it?  That might be a worthy labor on Labor Day weekend.

Cheesy Flicks, Cheesy Post?

I thought it might be a good idea to make my Lame Post Friday post on Friday.  I have apparently thought this before, because my predictive text thingy chimed right in with it as I went.  It can be so handy sometimes.

Fun flick!

I have been watching my beloved cheesy horror movies and crocheting.  Earlier I was looking at the news and playing solitaire (with a deck of cards, as regular readers probably know), but I found that too depressing.  Additionally,  I am crocheting a baby afghan for my friend Kim’s grandson.  I hope to finish it while he is still a baby.

I first put in Mesa of Lost Woman, which I enjoyed very much.  Perhaps I will write a whole blog post about it one day (note to self: check if I have already).  My movie write-ups do not seem to get a lot of blogger love (I am sadly quite a Like junky), but I do have fun writing them.

I don’t quite get this poster.

I am currently watching The Incredible Petrified World.  The poster was the only image I could find, and I must say it does not seem to have much to do with what I am watching.  These things happen, I suppose.

And I see I am 9ver 200 words.  Score! I hope to continue my movie watching and crochet activities tomorrow.  Will it be blogworthy?   A little suspense adds interest to my weekend.
