A Delightful Dinner

Today I found myself in Little Falls around dinner time and decided to check out Trattoria Giorgio’s.  It is in the space previously known as Ruggiero’s Trattoria, which I always liked.  I found that it is still a delightful place to eat.

I guess it’s also known as a Tap and Tavern.

I took a seat at the bar and perused the menu.  I wanted to get a glass of wine with my meal but would not know what to drink till I decided what to eat.  I went with one of the specials:  a grilled chicken BLT.  I thought it would pair well with Chardonnay.  I don’t really know a lot about wine pairings, but I know in general white goes with chicken.

While I waited for my food I worked on a letter to my sister Diane and chatted with the bartender and other patrons.  The bar is in a U shape, which is handy for  conversation.

My sandwich was delicious.  As usual, I cut it in half and took half home with me.  It came with chips, but I figured the chips wouldn’t travel well in the same box with the sandwich.  They were not the homemade kind anyways.  But I kept nibbling on them while I finished my drink.

I was in Little Falls to attend a meeting of the Flash Fiction group at Little Falls Public Library (preview of coming attractions).  If I make that a regular Wednesday thing, I may make dinner out a regular Wednesday thing too.  There are a few more places along Main Street in Little Falls I would like to eat at (another preview of coming attractions!).  But I will make Giorgio’s a regular stop.

Giorgio’s is located at 546 E. Main St., Little Falls, NY, phone number 315-823-1414.

A Letter at Lovely Little Falls Library

I have been meaning for a long time to start going to local libraries to write in a congenial atmosphere.  Additionally I have been meaning to go to Little Falls Public Library because midyork.org told me a particular book I wanted was there.  I finally got there today.  I did not find the book, but I found three others I would like to read.  I took them to a lovely space where I could sit and write.

I should have gotten a shot of the ceiling.

I wrote a post card to an aunt and finished a letter to a friend.  I want to write things such as novels, plays and murder mysteries, but one must write what one can.  While I wrote, I kept pausing to look at the ceiling, furnishings, and woodwork surrounding me.  Part of the library is an historic home.  I forget who lived there, but I think I knew at one time.

What a staircase for an entrance!

No admittance upstairs, which is too bad, because I would have loved to go up those stairs.  My staircase at home is so boring!

I especially like the mirror with the marble seat.

I did not get an outside shot of the library, because I would have had to cross the street to get a good one, and I wanted to be on my way.  No matter.  I will go to the library again.  I mean to make going to the library a thing, like when I lived in Rome and went to Jervis Public Library all the time.  Only now I have several local libraries I can go to.  Maybe I’ll get some of those novels, plays, and murder mysteries written after all!

Little Falls Public Library is located at 10 Waverly Place, Little Falls, NY, phone number 315-823-1542.

Late Post, But Library!

This past Friday I drove to Little Falls for a fundraiser for Little Falls Public Library at Rock Valley Brewing.  I thought I had written a blog post about it, but I see I have not.  I took a picture.

Nice lady.

I chatted with some people I knew as well as the library lady, although I did not get her name.  I took a pen and a book Mark from the library table.  There were colored pencils so you could personalize your bookmark, but I did not feel talented.

I petted a very nice dog and chatted with his dog-sitters (they were watching him for their daughter).  I drank some Chardonnay from Thousand Islands Winery, but not too much since I had to drive home.  I sat at a tall table and started a letter to a friend.

I guess this post isn’t such a much, and I apologize for that.  In my defense, I am just getting over a very bad migraine I had for most of the afternoon yesterday and all night last night.  Yesterday (Sunday) was a Blogger’s Sick Day for sure.  For Saturday I have no excuse.

However, I have given a shout-out to the library and Rock Valley Brewing.  I shall have some more coffee and try to face my day.  Once again, thank you for tuning in.

It’s Scattered, It’s Lame, It’s Late

What’s wrong with making my Friday Lame Post on Saturday morning?  Maybe a few things, but here we are.  It is prior to 6 a.m., although my timestamp may disagree.  I can’t worry about these things.

This is a really awesome place.

I drove to Richfield Springs, NY to check out the Food Co-op.  I loved it!  I will write more about it soon.  I took went a different way out of town and drove over a scenic route to Little Falls.  Unfortunately,  I did not stop and take any pictures. Maybe next time.

In Little Falls I went to the Little Falls Public Library’s book sale.  I did not have as good luck as I did at last year’s sale, but I found a couple of books and DVDs (including a Bela Lugosi movie, yes!).  Once again, I do not have a photo to share.  What’s that all about, me?

It looks longer and less steep in this shot, I think.

Here is a picture of my Friday I can share!  Earlier in the morning I ran up the hill to Herkimer College (H-trip-C to locals).  I ran all the way up onto campus, around the stadium, past the Veterans Memorial, down Reservoir Road, and THEN into the residential area behind Valley Health and up the kick-buttest hill!  I guess I should have made a Running Commentary Post and bragged about it.

So it was kind of a Scattered Friday.  In case anyone was wondering: no, I did not have to work.  I took my last discretionary day off, just to get rid of it in case my place of employment abruptly shuts the door.  And if they do not shut the doors and I have to work the rest of the year with no extra days off, I have promised to do a happy dance each day.  Won’t that brighten up the workplace?

Preview of Tired Attractions

Full Disclosure: I have no real excuse to have a Tired Tuesday post this week. I am off work (Further Disclosure: this was dictated by my place of employment, it was not my idea). I have been sleeping Not Too Badly.

On the other hand, it is dreadfully hot and humid today. I tend to melt in the heat. Just go ahead and hate on me, all you summer lovers and sun worshipers. On second thought, don’t hate on me, I’m in a very delicate mood today and I might cry.

Ahem, be that as it may, I will give a brief overview of my activities for today, some of which I may write full blog posts about at some future date.

I made a bowl of macaroni salad. It could be worth a post; after all, I used chives from my own garden. I went to Little Falls, NY. In the past, that has been good for a post about me driving around confused by the one-way streets, but today I drove right where I wanted to go. Score!

I had a lovely visit at the Little Falls Historical Society. I definitely plan to write about that. From there I went to the Little Falls Library. I ended up not staying there long enough to write about it, but I may return at a future date.

From there, I drove to Frankfort, NY, where I patronized the Friendly Bakeshop and Melrose Market. Both of these fine establishments deserve a post as well.

Anyone who is exclaiming in an annoyed tone of voice, “Write about it NOW!” will be doomed to disappointment. I have no brain available for such activities. But I hope what I have written so far will suffice for today. Happy Tuesday, everyone.
