Misunderstood on Monstrous Monday

I felt better enough to get through the day at work today, but I do not feel better enough to do more than a Monstrous Monday post.  How disgustingly whiny of me.  Quick, bring on the monsters!

That’s it! I should have a beer!

It wasn’t really all that bad of a day.  Last week was much harder to get through.  So I’ve got that going for me. And it’s only Monday.  I have four more days for things to improve.  How’s that for a good spin on it’s being Monday?

“What do you mean I have to go to work again tomorrow?”

I think Nosferatu looks surprised.  And scary.  Regular readers know he’s my favorite.

“This is a good monster!”

Actually, I think in the movie Gene Wilder calls Peter Boyle a “good boy.”  Like Frankenstein’s monster, I am misunderstood.  One might think this blog would explain me, but that is not likely to happen.  Never mind that now. We are not talking about me today; we are looking at monster pictures.

Most of us don’t, Monster.

I happened across this quintessential Monstrous Monday picture.  Yes, I have used it many times.  What can I say?  Some things bear repeating.

Year End Monsters?

Very festive, no?

Here is my view of New Year’s Eve.  Our plan all along was to not go out to party hearty, but to sit home on our couch.  Well, sometimes things do not go as planned.  Sometimes they go even better.

I unexpectedly got out early from work today, leaving at 10:30 a.m. rather than 3 p.m.  Woohoo!  I went to the grocery store with Steven and to the post office.  What else?  Well, I had put on my new Christmas llama leggings.  I thought it would be nice to go out for a drink.

We ended up at the Waterfront Grille in Herkimer,  sitting at the bar and sipping wine.  It was a lot of fun!

Now I am home again and, to be honest, not inclined to write much else. Are other bloggers waxing eloquent about the year ending and the year ahead?  How excellent for them if they are.  I, personally,  have very little of substance to say.

However, I am having quite a nice time on this last day of 2019. Perhaps I can, leave it at that for today’s post.  Well, maybe a monster picture or two,  just for good measure.

“Was somebody looking for a monster?”

I don’t know that we will be looking at Nosferatu tonight.  But I would like to look at other monster movies tonight.  Then again, New Year’s Eve isn’t the only night that is good for monsters!

“You can find me any time of year in the warmer climes!”

Happy 2020, everyone!

I Made It To 200 Words!

I guess it’s Monstrous Monday after all.  Never mind why; explanations are tiresome. I just needs me some Nosferatu.

“You were looking for me?”

Well, that took a little scrolling through my Media Library.  I may not make my usual goal of 200 words, but I will share a few more monsters.  Who doesn’t love monsters?  Oh I know some people don’t,  but why would they read my blog?

Joan would like to axe you a question.

Here is a monster of the human variety, Joan Crawford in Straitjacket.  A William Castle movie about axe murders, what’s not to like?

I love the coloring.

Here are a few scenes from House on Haunted Hill,  another wonderful Castle flick. I just don’t imagine the skeleton is any relation to our Bonita, who graced yesterday’s post,  although I do see the resemblance.

“I know you were looking for me.”

Regular readers might have expected to see The Brain from Planet Arous, which I often show when I seem to be posting without getting much use out of my own.

OK, I tried not to say it, but I will:  I am STILL not feeling well.  I must learn how to write when I am ill.  And I will.  Starting tomorrow.

Well Enough for Mid-Week Monsters

It never fails that when you let yourself off the hook one day because you feel bad, the next day you feel worse!  On the brighter side,  I feel differently today from yesterday.  I don’t have a headache; I’m lightheaded.  All day at work, that seemed worse.  However, now that I am home and busily tapping into my Tablet, I see that I can deal with it.

Do you suppose if I had actually started to make a blog post yesterday, I would have succeeded?  I guess we’ll never know. Why am I even asking; I hate hypothetical questions!  Anyways, I had not thought to make another post about Not Writing but perhaps indulge in a Mid-Week Monsters post.

None of my dates ever actually called me a monster.

I am feeling pretty happy it is mid week.  At the end of my work day, I felt like doing a fist pump and yelling, “We made it over the hump!”  Dammit, I should have a picture of the Hunchback of Notre Dame or Marty Feldman in Young Frankenstein.  Unfortunately,  I am only up to finding pics in my Media Library, not searching the internet for something new.

“What are you looking at me for?”

When all else fails,  throw in a picture of Nosferatu.  Regular readers know he’s my favorite.

“This is a good boy!”

Here is the only picture I have of Young Frankenstein in my Media Library.  How remiss of me.  Perhaps I can remedy the lack in future Monster posts.

What Would Peter Cushing Do?

I’m thinking all I can manage right now is a Non-Sequitur Thursday post.  We had our final rehearsal for Fabulous and Fatal,  the murder mystery we are presenting to benefit the Herkimer County Historical Society tomorrow night.  Yikes! Then Steve and I had some dinner at Salvatore’s in Herkimer.  Now we are home, looking at 20/20 on OWN, and feeling a little sorry we did not tune in earlier sooner,  since it is a case we also saw covered on Snapped.

OK, I just scrolled all the way through my Media Library twice looking for a graphic of 20/20.  How do I not have such a graphic? No matter, I suppose.  Only, a blog post pops more with illustration. I wonder if I can find something else.

No, I can’t.

“Then what am I doing here?”

I realized anything could work on Non-Sequitur Thursday,  so I hit on this shot of Christopher Lee as The Mummy.  He looks rather sad.  I don’t remember seeing this movie, but cannot be sure I haven’t seen it.

“I want my mummy!”

I guess he does not necessarily want his mummy, but I thought it would be a funny caption.  There is a window nearby out of which Michael Meyers looks.  I must get a picture of it.

“Haven’t I been in another blog post like this?”

Regular readers will not be surprised that I close with Nosferatu.  I say anything goes on Non-Sequitur Thursday.  If only I can think of a catchy title…

Monstrous Me

I am having a Monstrous Monday.

I can explain.

Well, here are a couple of monsters of the human variety, my husband Steve and I.  I was clicking around on my Tablet, hoping to chance on “search the internet” and instead downloaded this.  These were taken last summer at the Great American Irish Festival in Frankfort, NY.  Regular readers may remember that I was there to perform with Mummers Along the Mohawk.

Not exactly monsters.

Here are some of the Mummers, at a rehearsal.  I never got any pictures of us in full costume.

My shape, if I don’t go back on the South Beach Diet.

I thought I would get back to regular monsters with one of our favorite monster movies, The Blob.  Steve McQueen,  what’s not to like?

“I still don’t know why they wanted me in this blog post.”

Regular readers were probably expecting to see Nosferatu. I just love this guy.  The caption references a lite beer commercial from the 1970’s.  A bunch of guys at a bar get into a big argument over what’s best about the beer.

“Tastes great!”  yell half the guys.

“Less filling!” yell the other half.

Then this lone guy says to the camera, “I still don’t know why they wanted me to be in this commercial.”

It makes me laugh to this day.  I suppose that falls under the heading It Takes So Little To Please Some People.  Oh well, at least somebody is pleased on Monstrous Monday.

Surely Everybody Loves Halloween

I do not want to get up early tomorrow and make a late post for today.  Surely I can manage a Friday Lame Post (and I will call you Shirley if I want to).

My allergies have been kicking my butt this week. I can’t be too upset about that, though, because it means fall is coming. I love fall!  After all, who needs to breathe?  And the lightheadedness?  I can handle that.  Bring on the colored leaves, pumpkin spice coffee, and HALLOWEEN!

I guess they went on the South Beach Diet.

Here is a shot from Pumpkin Junction in Sauquoit, NY.  I can’t wait to get back there again!

And here’s a friendly guy!

To continue the Halloween theme, here is an awesome decoration sent to me by my friend Marsha.  At least, she sent me the pot.  I added the orange stuff and vampire.

They look suspicious to me!

Here is a picture from a fall murder mystery, with a ghoulish theme.  We are working on a new murder mystery (preview of coming attractions).

I guess all I am going to do today is post pictures and write a sentence or two about them.  I find that appropriate for Lame Post Friday.

“Is this the blog post you wanted me for?”

I have not used a shot of Nosferatu in a while, have I?  I do love to close with my favorite.  Happy Friday, everyone.

Mummers and Monsters at Mid-Week

How about some Mid-Week Monsters?  I’ve been sitting here, knitting when I’m not hot flashing, and thinking it would not be so very bad to go to bed early and make my Wuss-out  Wednesday post early Thursday morning.  Well, it is still Wednesday, and although I am feeling quite brain dead and devoid of words, I shall make some semblance of a post.

Check out the masks!

OK, these are not monsters, they are mummers.  Mummers Along the Mohawk,  to be exact.  I believe I wrote a blog post or two about them.  I was looking through my Media Library and had not seen any monsters yet.  I thought the large stick heads looked fairly monstrous.

It brings back memories of my own wedding day.

Here is a bonafide monster: the wonderful Elsa Lanchester as The Bride of Frankenstein.

I think the skinny guy wants to dance.

Here is another memorable monster, from House on Haunted Hill,  a favorite movie of ours.  We recently watched it again, with a glass of champagne.

Nobody’s perfect.

Here is a monster that did not get a lot of screen time yet played a pivital role in The Brain That Wouldn’t Die.

“I believe you were expecting me.”

I’m sure regular readers were just waiting for me to include my favorite,  Nosferatu.  It is ironic that he is my favorite when I rarely ever watch the movie.  Sad but true: I do not often watch silent movies.  I find it too difficult to pay sufficient attention while I am knitting or crocheting.

Oh, look, I am over 250 words.  Happy Mid-Week, everyone!

Still Behind, But There Are Vampires

I think I am four posts behind now.  I was two behind for so long I can’t remember when I missed them (I actually think I went to one post behind then back to two a couple of times, but that’s neither here nor there) (I LOVE that expression “neither here nor there”), then I missed July 4th and Sunday, because the Martha Canfield Library was closed and I couldn’t get anywhere with free Wi-Fi.  I tried the library parking lot, which worked before, but no luck this time.

Anyways, those are my blogging and computer woes for the moment.  Further updates as events warrant.

We are home from our sojourn in Vermont, and I am tired.  However, I do not care to be five posts behind.  It is high time I went back to no posts behind.  Unfortunately,  that is not going to happen today.  The best I can do today is throw up a few monster pictures.  At least it will cheer me up.

Who doesn’t love William Castle?

These are not exactly monsters, but I just love this shot of William Castle directing the supposed ghost in House on Haunted Hill (1959).

“Did somebody ask for a monster?”

Here is my favorite guy, Nosferatu.  As I often ask, who could be uncheered by a vampire?

And then there are even cheerier vampires.

I close with a little cuteness, and as usual hope for a better day tomorrow.   As always thank you for tuning in.
