Actually, I am a Slacker and Scatter-Brained

It’s not a Slacker Saturday, and it is not a Scattered Saturday, unless you count that I am very scatter brained as usual.  But it is a Saturday and I must make a blog post before I completely lose track of the day.

I went for a run earlier, thinking to make a Saturday Running Commentary.  It was not an eventful run or even a very long run. I was recruiting my energies, you see, because the Elk of the Year Dinner is tonight at Herkimer Elks Lodge.  I did not attend last year’s dinner, but this year’s honoree is one of my particular Elk friends.  Additionally, it is an early night: cocktails at three, dinner at four.  I am kind of an early bird in my old age.

I will probably enjoy at least one glass of wine.

I looked through my Media Library for a picture of the Elks Lodge, feeling I could ill afford the time, and finally settled on this one taken at the lodge.  The bracelet was by One Of A Kind Designs Handcrafted Jewelry by Debora Bruce, just to give a local artist a shout-out.

In addition to figuring out my outfit (as if anybody will notice what I wear) and trying in vain to do something with my hair (I will settle for that coveted “looks like I did it on purpose” look), I must go pick up my car which was getting an oil change and inspection.  It is a mere ten minute walk to do so, but I have not yet heard from the mechanic so do not yet know if my poor little car has even passed inspection.  Also, I have to mail my Saturday post cards.  I think the mail actually leaves the post office at three, not two as I had previously thought, so I have time.

This is turning into really a flustered post, and the more I type, the more flustered I become.  I shall sign off and look for a decent pair of pantyhose.  As always, I thank you for tuning in.

Once again, I do not have my ducks in a row!

I add a silly picture, just to cheer myself up.  It worked!

Snowman and St. Patrick’s Saturday

I did not exactly have a Scattered Saturday, but during my gyrations, I thought I might come up with a blog post.  I did not care to drive anywhere; there was not a lot of snow accumulation, but I didn’t trust the roads since we had started out with rain.  Walking would be all right, I thought. I wanted to get to the post office by two to mail out my usual Saturday post cards.

As I walked, I saw something odd at the side of the road.  I couldn’t tell what it was, till I got up close.  It was a snowman head! Not of actual snow, but one of those lawn decorations of wire and plastic. I looked around but did not see a headless snowman anywhere.  I did not want to leave the head to be run over countless times and ruined, so I picked it up and carried it along.  Then I had the idea to stick it in one of the remaining snowbanks.

He fits right in!

And on I went to the post office, where I realized I had lost the glove I took off to take the picture.  Well, I needed the exercise of more walking so retraced my steps till I found the glove.  Phew!  It was cold out, so gloves and hat were needed.

I went on to get some money out of the ATM at Cliff’s (to plug a local business) (yes, Cliff’s has many locations throughout the region, but it is a family-owned business based locally).  Then I was right across from Valley Wine and Liquor (another local business), so I went in for the Saturday wine tasting, which ran from one to four.  I did not purchase any wine, since I was walking and wine bottles can get pretty heavy, but I made notes of what to purchase later.

Regular readers know I like to drink wine.

This picture was actually taken at a previous date.  I wanted to show off my new bracelet from One Of A Kind Designs Handcrafted Jewelry by Debora Bruce.  It is a Facebook based business, run by a friend I have known since elementary school.  She makes some lovely pieces.  I must purchase more.

I did some more walking in the cold and ended up at the Elks Lodge, where I enjoyed a glass of wine.  I took a picture of a fellow Elk who was nicely dressed for St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

I think he had been golfing.

I myself was wearing a little green but failed to take a selfie.  Maybe today when I am out and about.  Since we all seem to be celebrating St. Patrick’s day all weekend.  Or I could wear a toga, because today is the Ides of March.  You know, Julius Caesar? In any case, I have gotten a lengthy (for me) blog post out of my Saturday activities.  If you read the whole thing, I thank you.

I Wine, I Wuss, I Make a Wednesday Blog Post

So there I was, debating between having a Wuss-out Wednesday or a Waste Not Want Wednesday.  Then I said, oh just make one of the posts you have been putting off making. So I started to do that, then realized I did not have all the relevant information in my head.  I can’t possibly go looking for the right notebook now.  So how about a Preview of Coming Attractions, using a couple of the pictures I hope to use when I finally write those elusive “real posts.”

Who me? Drink wine?

This is me at the Raindrops on Roses Bed and Breakfast in Herkimer, NY, enjoying a flight of wine from their Wine Tasting Room. I sat in their lovely garden and took a picture of my hand and a glass for Facebook posting purposes.  The bracelet, one of my favorites, I got from One Of A Kind Designs Handcrafted Jewelry by Debora Bruce (OOAK).  You can find OOAK on Facebook, and if you like jewelry, I recommend you do.   So now at least I gave shout-outs to two local businesses.

One of my favorite spots!

Here is a picture of the Eckler Building and Suiter House, where the Herkimer County Historical Society resides.  I took this picture for another Post which is not easily condensed into a few words.  However, these buildings are also important in the murder mystery I am currently writing and hope to start rehearsing soon.  It will benefit the historical society and is to be presented at the Herkimer Elks Lodge on Saturday, Oct. 12.

Ah, I see I have gotten over 250 words.  Regular readers (if I still have any) know I consider that respectable.  I thank you for bearing with me as I struggle with my blog and other problems.
