A Few Sights of the Season

Now I can do my Waste Not Want Not Wednesday Post, and we can pretend it is not early Thursday morning (I said we CAN pretend, I didn’t say you had to! Sheesh!) (you know who you are).  These are just a few pictures I took on walks.  Perhaps today I will take a walk and take some more for a real Pedestrian Post with Pictures (preview of coming attractions).

They smelled pretty good, too!

I took this during one of my cool-down walks after a run, because I was so surprised to see lilacs blooming in October.  I later noticed something somebody shared in a Facebook comment saying how sometimes lilacs would bloom late and why.  Of course I did not read the whole thing, nor further research the matter.  I just enjoyed the sight of the flowers.

LOOOOVE the changing leaves!

Here is a more familiar October sight:  beautiful colored leaves!  I do know why this happens; I read it somewhere and had it explained to me by a biology student, but I shall not burden my readers with the knowledge.  For one reason, I might remember it wrong and look even more foolish than I normally do.

I tried to get a closer look.

This is not as good a shot as I had hoped, but I did say Waste Not Want Not.  I actually took the tree pictures a week ago (I just checked on my phone; you see I do research some things).  There are more colors to see now.  I’d better take that walk, while the colors are still here!

Tired Time Warp

It’s not Wednesday, it is Tuesday.  How did I get into such a time warp?  I have been sitting here debating whether to do a Waste Not Want Not Wednesday or a Wuss-Out Wednesday, when it hit me, TOMORROW is Wednesday.  I’ll be damned.

My favorite Tuesday meme.

It is actually fine with me that it is Tuesday and not Friday.  I need more time to study my lines and figure out my costume for Curtains for Frangelica, the murder mystery to benefit the Herkimer County Historical Society this Saturday at the Elks Lodge.

In case anybody wants all the info.

I got back from rehearsal a short time ago, so I guess I can bill this as a Post-Rehearsal Post.  It is an odd thing, but I have noticed WordPress no longer lets me categorize my blogs under “humor” and “personal.”  I guess humor is subjective, and one could argue that not all of my posts are humorous (regular readers know I am no hand at argument), but personal?  What else is this but a personal blog about me, a person?

This is too much for me to figure out on a Tired Tuesday.  I’ll add another picture for good measure and call it a blog post.  Once again, thank you for tuning in.

From a previous rehearsal.

One Monster for Good Measure

Hello and welcome to yet another late blog post from me, Mohawk Valley Girl.

Having typed that, I feel myself disinclined to type any more. If I was not ten-finger typing on the Chromebook, I would be tempted to give it up as a bad job.  I know, I know, one must not wait for inspiration.  Sometimes one prefers to at least wait till the coffee kicks in.

Picture to denote passage of time while I get another cup of coffee.

That is one of my favorite pictures.  I have seen some really gruesome rotting pumpkins but have not had anything to take a picture at the time.  The scariest are when the inside starts to mildew and the mouth becomes a black hole!  Not the most sanitary decoration, but I must appreciate beauty where I find it.

I hope to take a drive to Pumpkin Junction in Sauquoit, NY tomorrow (preview of coming attractions).  I can get a pumpkin, maybe some lights for my porch, and at least I can walk around and enjoy looking at everything.  I have a bit too much to do today to contemplate the expedition.

A veritable Halloween Mecca!

I can’t say I have made strides in getting my house decorated for Halloween, but I have taken steps.  Maybe they were baby steps, but one does what one can.

I see I am over 200 words.  I guess I can bill this as a Monstrous Monday post, since it is a lot about Halloween.  I’ll just close with one monster for good measure.

Don’t know who he is, but I like him!

A Late Post Concerning Coffee and Procrastination

I did not have a particularly Wrist to Forehead Sunday. I had a pretty good Sunday with a good rehearsal for Curtains for Frangelica.  To make my late Sunday post a little happier, I just figured out what I did to make my post look so odd as I type it.  I went from “Visual” to “Text.”  Let me try to add a picture to see if I really solved the problem.

My delightful cast.

The picture also denoted passage of time while I went and got more coffee.  I actually put on coffee last night instead of waiting till morning to do it, as I have regrettably been doing lately.  It is interesting how often one can say, “Oh, I’ll do it later,” then later be annoyed one did not do it at the time.  And yet one never learns.  One being me, of course.  I am sure any number of you have learned that lesson and are feeling rather smug right now (you know who you are). But I digress.

I had thought this blog might become All Curtains for Frangelica All the Time, with our performance set for this Saturday, Oct. 12, but apparently I am more into typing inanities about coffee and procrastination.

Still one writes what one can, even if one fears that, as Truman Capote once said, That’s not writing, that’s typing.  Once again, one being me.

Slacker to Cinema Plus Shout-Out

I had rather a Slacker Saturday today, but at least I am making my blog post on Saturday. I really did not do much after I made my Friday blog post, so I don’t have much to write about now (as Truman Capote once said, that’s not writing, that’s typing). One thing I should have done was work on my lines for Curtains for Frangelica, the murder mystery we are presenting to benefit the Herkimer County Historical Society, one week from today. Yikes!

My computer or my WordPress is still messed up. Instead of seeing the picture I inserted, it is just a bunch of typing. And I can’t edit it to add a caption. Well, I can’t worry about these things now. Right now I want to make a blog post.

As I am typing, I am kind of watching The Tingler on DVD. It is a William Castle produced horror movie starring Vincent Price. It is a bit on the cheesy side, but so entertaining.

Earlier I watched Carnival of Souls. Full disclosure: I only mention it because I saw a picture from it in my Media Library when I was looking for the picture from The Tingler.

So I guess I can bill this as a Cinema Saturday, with a shout-out to my upcoming murder mystery. Just to make it a real plug, here is the flier:

I don’t think they are sold out yet, if any local readers are interested.

Another Late Lame Post

Can I make a Lame Post Friday post today?  I feel it is not likely.  I have been indulging in Friday Happy Hour and am now looking at some cheesy movies on DVD.

He looks a little scary.

I add a picture from a cheesy movie I am viewing: The Brain that Woudn’t Die.  The monster shown here took me a few tries to show in an illustration.  This is what I get for  going on WordPress after being on regular internet.

That was as far as I got last night before I gave it up as a bad job. It is rather odd-looking here, too. My italics don’t appear as italics, but is on either side of what I italicized. And my pictures show as a looong string of gibberish. Now I am having difficulties getting my fingers to hit the right keys, and I assure I am quite sober at this hour of the morning (about 8:30).

I insert another cheesy movie picture, just for good measure.

In case anybody is concerned (or inclined to judge) I did not drive to Happy Hour last night. I walked, taking a longish walk before stopping to indulge. I think today I will try the walk without the indulgence.
In the meantime, I am just getting to 200 words, so I will abandon this forlorn attempt at a blog post. Perhaps I could have a Mohawk Valley Adventure today and write a real blog post about it.

Will I Live Up to Halloweens Past?

Hello and welcome to another late Throwback Thursday post.  Thursday was a kind of a wasted day for me, although it had a few useful moments, a few fun moments; who is the arbiter of saying whether a day is wasted or not anyways? Not me.  But I veer into half-baked philosophy, more suited to Lame Post Friday, a post often made early Saturday morning.  And I wonder why I am in a time warp most of the time.

I throw in a photo before going to get coffee.

I thought a throwback to Octobers past might be fun, and a change from my usual theatre throwbacks (autocorrect does not approve of that spelling of “theatre” but I like it).  That is my late, beloved husband Steven at Pumpkin Junction in Sauquoit, NY, one of my favorite Halloween places.  I would like to go there soon, but I really need to clean my house more before adding Halloween decorations, which I inevitably will.

Looks like a fun party!

Speaking of Halloween decorations, here is an arrangement Steven made on our buffet in 2017.  Right now the buffet still has most of his nutcracker collection.  Oh dear.

Isn’t he cute?

To end on a cheerful note, here is the sweet little vampire Steve gave me (it came in a coffee cup), sitting in a delightful pot sent me by my friend Marsha.  The orange is a t-shirt I didn’t like much anyways (advertising something I don’t even like any more, but that’s a long, dull story).

This is all encouragement for myself to get this house in better shape today and put out some Halloween decorations.  That would make a good blog post.  As always, I hope you’ll stay tuned.

A Few Things That Caught My Eye

I thought I would do a Waste Not Want Not Wednesday.  It is still Wednesday, so I have that going for me.  I am also looking at a Dateline with my favorite, Keith Morrison.  I have seen it before, but I do not remember whodunnit.

Bonita is buried!

I begin with a Halloweenish picture.  It is our skeleton Bonita, and it gives some idea of the volume of clutter in my house.  I am working on excavation.  Then I may be able to decorate for the holiday.  I would like to put Bonita and Burt the Birt-day Gorilla in Halloween garb.

I think it is cool.

This is a sight I have often wanted to take a picture of and finally did.  I love stuff painted on the side of buildings.  I never did get a picture of  “Mungers” on the side of a building on Main Street.

Too dark? Or can you see it?

Here is a shot taken last weekend, when I was in Rome, NY.  My sister Diane and I took a couple of walks and observed some of the damage from the tornado that happened some weeks ago (too lazy to look up the exact date).  We were sad about a lot of the downed trees.

Can’t see this one too well either. Oh dear.

This one was taken during the daytime, but the cool part is in shadow.  There are two little windows on the side of the stump, like it is a little hobbit house.  Or maybe a house for a troll or faerie.  I am not up on these fantasy creatures.

I love that our phones take pictures, so we can shoot any little thing that catches our eye.  We also get a lot more pictures of people we love. I may share a few of those tomorrow.

Fairly Entertained by Autocorrect

Late posts. It was a thing before and it is a thing now. Here I am Wednesday morning making my Tired Tuesday post. In fact, I am still a little tired from Tuesday, because my coffee is still brewing (just to show how tired I am: I typed “viewing” for “brewing”) (but I think my coffee is done now).

Random picture to denote passage of time while I get coffee.

Ah, coffee.  Even one sip makes me feel better.  I just occurred to me:  I may not have typed “viewing”  I could have mistyped “brewing” and autocorrect “fixed” it for me.  Autocorrect is weird.  Sometimes it changes what I type to what it thinks I mean, and sometimes it just underlines it in red. Right now “mistyped” and “autcorrect” are underlined (“autocorrect” is underlined now four times, once with a capital A) (I add in the interests of accuracy).  Autocorrect is starting to look wrong, but I do not know how else to spell it. “Mistyped” I am comfortable with.

I think the random picture was prescient, because this certainly seems like the wrong way to make a blog post.  But some people might get a chuckle out of it.  As I like to say, it isn’t easy being me, but it is fairly entertaining.

My outsides aren’t doing too well, either.

I add another picture for further entertainment purposes and adjourn for more coffee. Happy Tuesday/Wednesday everyone!

I Just Can’t Wait to Kill Frangelica!

I neglected to make my Monstrous Monday blog post, if anybody was watching (or do I flatter myself?).  I had meant to do it early this morning (Tuesday).  Alas, I lacked the oomph.  Right now I lack the oomph to do much of anything, so I thought maybe I could do a blog post.  I could do a Pre-Rehearsal and a Post-Rehearsal Post, making up for Monday and taking care of Tuesday.  I suppose it won’t be monstrous this way, but I think that will be all right.

A rather unsavory bunch.

This is from a long ago murder mystery, Rubbed Out at Ruby’s in 2017.  Actually I talked to a cast member recently who is interesting in reviving it.  I don’t know if I can find the script, but that may not matter.  It was a full house murder mystery so was more improvised than our normal dinner theatre plays.

Another great cast.

I’m sure I have shared this picture numerous times.  It is from A G.R.A.V.E. Murder, also in 2017.  That was a fun one, with a Halloweeenish theme involving ghost hunters.

I think I just figured out how to download pictures on my Chromebook!

Here is the flier for our current murder, Curtains for Frangelica.  I suppose I had better get back to studying my lines now.
