Late Post about The Posers

I have mentioned our favorite band, The Posers. The best Friday night we had in a long time was the night we went to see them at the Mohawk American Legion.

These guys rock!

The event took place in the parking lot. Food and drink was available. I had some salt potatoes while Steven had a hot dog. But of course the main draw was the music.

I danced around, clicking.
Drummer and bass, the backbone of the band.

As you can see by Steven’s ensemble, it was one of the cooler evenings. We had a blast, though. I’m glad I finally wrote something about it.

Hate the Heat, Love the Flowers

And yet I am not becoming noticeably smaller.

I am not a fan of summer. Sun worshippers can feel free to hate on me but all I can do is shake my sweaty head, very slowly. Oh, just listen to me whine! I am starting to hate on me myself!

Please ignore the weeds.

One good thing about summer is flowers. We started out ten years ago with one humble Black-eyed Susan, purchased at a sale to benefit Herkimer County Humane Society. Just look at them now!

Another view.

The Brown-eyed Susan’s just magically grew. They have expanded as well. I just can’t bear to cut them back.

Please ignore the hideous deck.
I think they are pretty.

Our Rose of Sharon is not as bloom-filled, much to our disappointment.

I see one flower!

Other Roses of Sharon (Rose of Sharons?) In the neighborhood are more colorful. If it becomes cool enough for a comfortable walk, I will try to get a few pictures for a future post.

In the meantime, I have managed to make a post of, well, not quite 200 words (I keep clicking on the counter up top to check). And it was not too painful (at least for me to write; obviously I cannot speak for any possible readers). Ah, there is 200. Keep cool, everyone!

Lame Me Think

OK, this is not going to be a very good post, even for Lame Post Friday. In my defense, we just got back from Jamo’s in Herkimer, where we had a delicious dinner and a glass of wine, and right now I want nothing more than to sit in front of cable television and watch shows about true crime, Snapped right now.

I have been making a lot of bad blog posts lately. All I can do in apologize and try to do better next time. Oh crap, this is next time.

I have a number of possibilities for upcoming posts. I can look to the past, where we enjoyed Phil Arcuri at Fratello’s or The Posers at Mohawk American Legion, to name just two. Perhaps a Preview of Coming Attractions post would be in order.

Would a short post be acceptable, under the circumstances? I DON’T KNOW!!

Once again, I rely on the fact that today is Lame Post Friday. It is OK that I am as I am. We shall see what happens on the weekend. Always, I hope you’ll stay tuned.

Short Vitamins But Not Iron(y)

So I followed up Sunday’s apology post with not posting on Monday. What was that all about, me? Of course I was tired. I seem to be tired every damn day of my life lately. Could I be lacking B vitamins? Discuss amongst yourselves.

Be that as it may, I really do not want to stop blogging, even as I feel increasingly unable to make a decent post. So what am I doing now? Spilling my guts for all the blogosphere to see? Yuck! SAY IT AIN’T SO!

Let us consider this a Tired Tuesday Post. And another apology for not posting. I owe a few local businesses and musicians shout-outs by now. I hope to get to at least one tomorrow. Full disclosure: I may instead go to Ilion Food Truck Frenzy to hear the Posers again. It would make a great blog post, which I will be too tired to post. The irony is not lost on me.

I’m Blaming My Sinuses

This is just a quick post to apologize for not making a post yesterday or today. No excuses, no explanations. But I feel bad about it. Do I feel bad enough to type in more than just a paragraph right now? We shall see.

Here’s a thing: I feel inclined to say I feel badly, but I distinctly remember learning in school (junior high? Elementary? My memory is not that distinct) that “feel badly” is incorrect; the correct expression is “feel bad,” because of the kind of verb “feel” is. Intransitive? Again, the memory is not distinct.

I am feeling bad(ly) in other ways too. This cooler weather makes my body think it is fall, and my sinuses are giving me hell. I don’t see how that can happen. Just because it cools off shouldn’t effect the pollen count, should it? Is this reverse placebo effect?

I may be crazy. The other day a guy said, “Normal is relative,” to which I responded, “Not my relative.” I stole that line from my sister Diane. It is a good one.

So I guess I’ll call this a Blogger’s Sick Day and drive on. It has not been a bad day, it has not been a bad weekend. I look forward to the week ahead. We shall see what kinds of blog posts I can come up with.

Pre-Posers Post

This is a posthaste post (an old-fashioned word you rarely hear these days, but I love the play on words). Steven and I are about to head out to the Mohawk, NY American Legion to hear our favorite local band, The Posers. They play music from the ’80’s and earlier. So danceable! So fun!

Steven may not be able to dance much; he is still not back to 100 percent. I said he can be like Jack Lemmon dancing with Joe E. Brown in Some Like It Hot, posing dramatically while I dance around him.

May be an image of 2 people
He’s so fine.

This is not the shot I had in mind, so you will have to use your imagination. They were doing the tango. I guess Steven and I are unlikely to tango tonight, but you never know.

Yes, this is a silly post. Luckily for me, it is Lame Post Friday. I’m allowed to be silly! I know, what is my excuse the rest of the time? I could expound upon how it is an empty exercise to offer excuses. That would entail some half-baked philosophy, in which I often indulge on Lame Post Friday. However, I shall not try your patience in such a fashion.

Let us call this, in addition to a Lame Post Friday post, a Preview of Coming Attractions. I will write about the good time I feel sure we are about to have. I also owe my readers a write-up of listening to Phillip Arcuri the other night. Lots of local music lately! Lucky us!

I’ve got a Bone to Pick with this Blog Post

Regular readers may remember our skeleton, Bonita. She has not had a makeover in a while, but yesterday, Steven decided she needed a summer outfit.

I should look so good.

I have two headbands like that. One broke, so I bought another. Steven cleverly used the broken one on Bonita, so I was free to wear the other to Fratello’s.

Definitely not as skinny as Bonita.

I mean to write more about our evening at Fratello’s (I mentioned it yesterday, case you didn’t read that post). However, like yesterday, I am very tired. Perhaps my body will soon adapt to the rigors. Hmm.. what was my excuse before I went on overtime? I’m too tired to remember.

In the meantime, once again I have not met my self-imposed goal of 200 words per blog post. Maybe I can find another picture of Bonita in my Media Library.

Bonita and her little friend at Christmas.

I just realized we never gave the little skeleton a name. He was a gift from Steven. How about Bonaparte?

Does that picture make this a Throwback Thursday Post? Or shall I slap on an elliptical headline and call it a Non-Sequitur Thursday? Decisions! Maybe I’ll sleep on it.

PS: Just over 200 words.

Good Wednesday, Bad Post

Today, Igor.

One might feel Wednesday is onerous, because it is only half-way through the week. Or one can go to Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort, listen to a talented local musician, and feel better about the whole thing.

Awesome guy to listen to.

Tonight my husband Steven and I went to Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort and enjoyed food and music. I hope to write a longer post about it later. For right now, I feel tired. I hope this can count for my Wuss-out Wednesday Post.

Boris and Bela Could Not Help Me

Oh, Boris, please don’t rub it in!

That shot is from the movie The Black Cat, starring Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff. I recently saw it, on a DVR’d episode of Svengoolie. I started writing a blog post about it but was unable to complete it.

So here I am, typing (pecking on my Tablet with the stylus, really) during commercials while watching Dateline (she totally did it!). It surely is Tired Tuesday (and I’ll call you Shirley if I feel like it).

One reason I am tired is that I went to the laundromat after work. I inadvisedly decided to bring my laundry home to dry, since my drier survives. It would have been fine if it was one normal load. It was more. My drier has been at it for nearly three hours now. Lugging the wet laundry home and downstairs to the drier was not much fun either.

But just listen to me whine. What a big baby! Never mind. I’m too tired to go back and edit it to sound more cheerful. I’ll just have to look bad. We’ll see what I look like on Wuss-out Wednesday. As always, I hope you’ll stay tuned.

Cheerful Monsters?

I feel I ought not make another whiny Monday post, as some of my Monstrous Monday Posts turn out to be. Yet, I am feeling monstrous. Perhaps I could be monstrous but cheerful.

Looks like a fun bunch to me!

Who could be uncheered by William Castle, Vincent Price, and friends? I could get into watching a Castle/Price collaboration about now. However, I would probably want to go to bed before the end. I am on overtime so get up unreasonably early and get very tired by the end of the day (NOT whining! Merely explaining why I am not watching a movie) (It also explains why this post is turning out to be kind of dumb).

A tense confrontation.

The above is from The Terror, a Roger Corman romp, starring Jack Nicholson and Boris Karloff. I like a Corman/Karloff collaboration, too. Plus, it has the charm of alliteration. Regular readers know I love alliteration.

An even rompier movie.

And here is a Price/Karloff collaboration, with Peter Lorre and Jack Nicholson thrown in for good measure, The Raven. I must get that one on DVD for my collection.

Well, now I am feeling quite cheerful, thinking about these movies I love. Additionally, I am approaching 200 words. Regular readers (I think I still have some) know I call that respectable. At any rate, I made it through another Monstrous Monday. I hope to see you all again on Tired Tuesday, as I fear it will be (not whining now either, just predicting).
