Not Much Brain, But a Nice Memory

I want to make my Sunday blog post on Sunday. Unfortunately my brain is blank. This is not an unusual situation for me.

This is The Brain from the Planet Arous. Full disclosure: I do not remember much about the movie; I just like to use the picture when I am feeling particularly brain dead.

I am still watching episode after episode of Columbo on DVD. Some episodes I pay more attention to than others. Right now one is playing that I do not mind missing parts of. Oh, wait, the plot just thickened!

Years ago, when my mother and I used to watch Murder, She Wrote on Sunday nights, at every commercial break, Mom would turn to me and say, “The plot thickens!” I may have shared that memory before, but it is a good one. My husband Steve always liked to hear it. Sometimes I would remark that the plot thickened when he and I watched Dateline. I do like a thick plot!

So I can’t remember much about The Brain from the Planet Arous, but I remember nice evenings with my Mom. I’m OK with that. Happy Sunday, everyone.

Not Late, Just Lame

I thought I’d try something different: making my Lame Post Friday post ON Friday. Of course here I sit with not much to say, but when has that ever stopped me?

I wanted to throw in a picture to, you know, pep things up. I just spent a ridiculous amount of time searching my Media Library for pictures I was sure I used at some point relating to this evening’s cheesy viewing. Alas, they were not to be found. So I share the above, because it is a movie in the same DVD collection as the one I am currently watching, The Atomic Brain.

Previously I watched The Vampire Bat. I am SO in the mood for old, low budget horror these days. Bring on the cheese! Incidentally, the Brain one just ended, and I put in Carnival of Souls. This one is low budget but not really cheesy. It is almost a masterpiece of atmosphere, creepy and weird.

I cannot remember what I shared about my television trials and tribulations. I know I talked about getting rid of cable, but did I mention that I could not even watch DVDs? Well I couldn’t, but now I can. Unfortunately, it is not the ideal DVD situation. All I can do is put the DVD in and hit Play. So I can’t arrow over when, for example, there are two movies on the same DVD. No pause or rewind either. I KNOW! First world problems!

Ah, here is a bit of half-baked philosophy, in which I like to indulge on Lame Post Friday: why are all my problems either of the first world variety or operator error? Discuss amongst yourselves.

Fay Wray, Can You Help Me Now?

Tired Thursday just does not have the same alliterative charm of Tired Tuesday. And yet, I am just as tired. Well, we all know what I do when I’m tired: I make a blog post anyways! I’ve been trolling my monster and movie groups for new pictures, but I am having no luck and really want to get this post made. I wonder if there is anything in my Media Library I haven’t used lately.

I’ve always had a thing for tall guys with long hair, but this is ridiculous!

I forgot to mention that my clever husband Steven got our DVD/Video player working again. Movies may be in my future! I have not seen King King with Fay Wray in a long time. Steven got me the Jack Black version recently and we have never watched it. Oh, we rented it back when it was first available (wow, was it really so long ago that there were still video rental places? Why yes, a quick check tells me 2005! How the time flies!). That was the only time I saw it.

Is it really better than Dr. X, do you suppose?

I found and downloaded a new picture after all. Thinking of Fay Wray made me think of Mystery of the Wax Museum, another one of my favorites. Wray plays an intrepid girl reporter who cracks wise. I just love an intrepid girl reporter.

Yes, this is how I feel much of the time.

I went to my Media Library and added the first movie picture I saw, because I like to include three pictures. We don’t have The Blob on DVD or video, so I guess One of These Things Is Not Like the Others (remember, from Sesame Street?) Then again, that makes this a Non-Sequitur Thursday, doesn’t it? And over 300 words, which I deem sufficient for a blog post. Happy Thursday and I hope to see you all on Lame Post Friday.

OK, It Was a Trashy Novel

It is National Read a Book Day, and I have just spent most of the afternoon and early evening reading a book. Never mind which book; my reading choice will not impress you with my taste and intelligence (both questionable at the best of times). But, obviously, I have been reading, not writing. So I do not have a blog post. Please do not judge me on Wuss-out Wednesday. I will get back to having Mohawk Valley Adventures and writing about them soon. But I’m not up to that today. However, I will try to muster up some cheerfulness and maybe a little silliness.

Am I pandering by sharing a picture with so many scantily clad women?

This is one of the cheesy movies I watched on Monday, while waiting for my husband to come home from work. I was looking for a cheesy image to share and discovered a Facebook page called Scream Factory. I wonder what other fun stuff they have.

Here’s a more circumspect image. Just a bit of a boob shot, partially obscured by her dramatically placed arm.

Full disclosure: I have never seen nor even heard of Hell Night. I just liked the picture.

So I guess the Scream Factory sells Blu-Ray and DVDs of horror movies. What a useful site. Of course, I usually find my stuff in the bargain bins at various big box stores (none of which need a plug form Mohawk Valley Girl).

If I ever update my entertainment system and need to purchase Blu-Rays, now I know where to find one of my favorites! Right now, however, I have this gem on at least two DVD collections. I do love a movie that involves a severed head.

I have not quite cheered myself up with these cheesy Blu-Ray covers of cheesy movies. Now I feel like eating some actual cheese. But I will try for a better blog post on Non-Sequitur Thursday.
