It Was a Melting Migraine

I thought I might have a real Wuss-out Wednesday post or maybe a Blogger’s Sick Day, as I spent the day with something of a migraine.  I hasten to add that my migraines are not as bad as what some people suffer, and I appreciate that.  I even made it through rehearsal tonight for the play I haven’t told you about yet (preview of coming attractions).  Now I am at home, still waiting for it to feel cooler inside (it was almost comfortable on my front porch, but I can hardly sleep out there), and wondering if I can get away with a Mid-Week Monsters post (here’s a Freudian typo:  I said Mid-Weed Monsters, as if I paused to make a blog post in the midst of doing lawn and garden work.  Wouldn’t that be ambitious of me?).

I know just how she feels.

Here’s the picture I was looking for yesterday!  It is appropriate on so many levels.  I am complaining about the heat, a wicked witch is a monster, and many people feel that I myself am a witch (they sometimes spell it with a b).

This may be true of a lot of us.

This speaks to my good intentions of doing a better blog post today than yesterday.  Once again I move that ambition on to tomorrow.  On the brighter side, at least I have posted for another day.  Once again, I thank you for tuning in.

A Mundane Monday Post

I was so certain I would make a real blog post yesterday (Sunday) that it really comes as no surprise to me that I did not.

Does putting ice in a headache really work?

The picture is to denote passage of time.  I have a cut on my thumb which was causing pain every time I hit the space bar so went in search of a band-aid.  While looking I found that I had one more decongestant with a D (the kind you have to ask the pharmacist for) so took that against this morning’s headache.  That reminded me I had not yet taken my usual morning pills, so I did that.  Finally I found a band-aid (two in fact, so I have a spare) as well as some antibiotic ointment.   I add all this information in hopes of distracting us from the fact that I really ain’t got much this morning but hate to miss two days of making a blog post.

Preview of Coming Attractions?

I intend to go for a run this morning, after I give my breakfast a chance to digest.  I have not been running since last Thursday, although I have taken a few walks.  I shall not demand a long run of myself, and I never demand a fast run.  Maybe a couple of hills, maybe not.  Maybe it will be memorable enough for a Running Commentary Post.

In the meantime, this nonsense has gotten me over 200 words, so I will call it a post and wait for the decongestant to do its work.  As always, I thank you for tuning in.

Another Lameheaded Blog Post

The lightheaded crap continues, but I want to make a blog post regardless.  In my favor, today is Lame Post Friday.  I can make a foolish post and it will be OK.  I know, what is my excuse the rest of the days?   My problem is I am trying to write more and having the stupidest time doing it.  So why not spend some time writing about not writing?

Likewise blog posts.

I will also point out that I am writing pre-coffee or -tea.  I am at my sister Diane’s house and am the first one out of bed.  I managed to sleep in till after six, then read a book in bed for a while, so there’s that.  Oh dear, my head is spinning in an uncomfortable fashion.  I tell myself it is nothing to worry about.  It happens and then it stops happening.  All I have to do is wait for it to stop happening.  Oh dear, now I am not writing about not writing; I am writing about my stupid head.

Apparently my brain would die.

Maybe I could just take my head off.  The above picture is from The Brain that Wouldn’t Die, I add, just to explain the caption.  The nice thing is, this nonsense has gotten me over 200 words.  I am going to lie back down until the spinning stops and try for a better blog post later.

Lightheaded Lawn Longings

I missed making my Tired Tuesday post and it looks as if I am having a real Wuss-out Wednesday today.  I have that light-headed thing going on.  It is not exactly a headache, although one neurologist told me it was migraine.  Well, it is tiresome to go on about my symptoms so I will stop.

Probably the best year for these.

I throw in a picture to pep things up.  This is the rhododendron in my back yard (wow, I seem to have spelled it right on the first try!) some years ago.  I don’t think it is blooming yet this year but I would need to go out back and check.  My back yard is not in such good shape these days, although I did manage to mow it once (perhaps you read my blog post about it).

And this was a good year for these flowers, whose name I have long forgotten.

I saw some leaves from this one when I mowed, and tried to avoid mowing them down.  They moved from where I first planted them. I do not know how, but I am nobody’s idea of a horticulturalist, or even much of a gardener.

I know I’ll have some daisies!

So I guess I am just sitting here with my head spinning thinking about the yard and garden I am not currently working on.  Maybe after a nice cup of tea I will feel better and do something useful.  In the meantime, at least I have made some semblance of a blog post.  Once again, I thank you for tuning in.

Who, Me? Tired on Tuesday?

Oh dear, it is time to make a blog post again.  What was I thinking to not make a blog post sooner?

I am actually kind of happy it is Tuesday.

I thought I could at least make a Tired Tuesday post.  Full disclosure:  I am not in such good shape to make any post as I like to be.  Earlier today I started to get one of those light-headed migraines I sometimes get.  I went for  a run in hopes of heading it off, with at least some success.  Perhaps it would have been a good idea to make a Running Commentary post when I was done with that, but I needed to complete a story about an Ilion Village Board meeting for Sentinel Media Company.  At least I was successful with that.

A brain! A brain! My kingdom for a brain!

Here is The Brain from the Planet Arous, which I always like to share when I am feeling particularly brain dead, as I am now.

Last weekend I went to several Mohawk Valley businesses, which I would like to give shout-outs to (preview of coming attractions).  For now, I am sorry to say, it is a Tired Tuesday post..  I feel certain my head will feel better tomorrow.  As always, I hope you will stay tuned.

Lawnmowers and Lame Hopes

One of the quintessential sounds of summer is the sound of a lawnmower.  Personally I could live without it.  It is too loud for me.  That is my random observation for the morning.  I am sitting at my sister Diane’s house, listening to a neighbor being ambitious (mowing the lawn prior to 9 a.m.?  Isn’t there some rule of etiquette about that?), and trying to make a Lame Post Friday blog post.  Quite frankly, I don’t got much, except for a little bit of a headache.

Could it be a preview of coming attractions?

I throw in a picture to pep things up.  This is from May 2017, a “before” shot of my container garden, which I used to have in those days.  I am hoping to have a container garden this year, but this is not the weekend it will happen.  This weekend is about cleaning the inside of my house.  I hope.

This may also be a coming attraction.

Here is a picture from May 2021 at Diane’s house.  It shows me, Diane, our mother, and our sister Vicki.  I am wearing a tie-dye shirt and pearls again today, but different shirt and pearls (my late, beloved husband Steven and I between us wore out that shirt, and I have many pearls) (although I do not clutch them) (but I digress).

Diane and I will be returning to Herkimer this morning, where she will help me in my quest to get rid of things and clean my house.  I am afraid, however, I may be distracted with taking her to some of my favorite places to go for Mohawk Valley Adventures.  I will rationalize such behavior on the grounds that it will make for better blog posts.

Once Again, I Hope to Break a Lame

I was going to further interrupt my bout of All Prescription: Murder All The Time for a Lame Post Friday post, but I fear it will be a Blogger’s Sick Day as well.  What a headache I am getting all of a sudden!  On the brighter side, it is more lightheadedness than pain.  Let us by all means count our blessings.  A nap did not help.  Perhaps some coffee?

Picture to denote passage of time while I put on a little coffee.

I have only gone over my lines once so far today.  That does not seem like enough.  Oh dear.

Picture to denote passage of time while I look over my lines one more time.

I just looked over my lines again, but I am not sure it did me any good.  However, it seems the coffee is ready.  I did not put a picture to denote passage of time while I got a cup (I think it is funny when I do that, but perhaps I flatter myself).  The picture is me at Valley Wine and Liquor in Herkimer at one of their tastings. The pourer often has to take a picture to show their boss that they are so pouring samples.  I always let them take mine, cheese-eating grin and all (only I don’t say cheese) (see what I did there?).

I just wore that skirt yesterday. The slippers are worn out.

The coffee is steadying my nerves as well as helping my headache.  Or perhaps it is getting the blog post done that helps.  However, I am still a bundle of nerves, seeing as tonight is opening night for Prescription: Murder, the play I am in at Ilion Little Theatre (ILT) (perhaps you read some of my blog posts about it).  I encourage myself with a rehearsal shot from one of my stage triumphs, The Busy Body, which ILT put on some years ago. You may think I am flattering myself by saying “stage triumph,” but everybody said I was very successful in the part.

In any case, I have rattled on for over 300 words.  I had better make sure I have done everything I need to do to get ready for tonight.  I’m sure it will be fun.

When In Doubt, Add Coffee

And now my headache is back.  I begin my Lame Post Friday Post with a whine.  It is too early yet for wine, which might help my headache but could also cause a worse one tomorrow.  Ah, the trials and tribulations.

Random picture to denote passage of time while I go put on coffee.

I had tea instead of coffee earlier this morning, which is usually fine.  I had a headache, which got worse after I ate breakfast and took some Migraine Relief (with the magic ingredient caffeine, as a boss of mine used to say).  After lying down for a while, my head felt better, so I went for a run.  I did not run yesterday due to a back ache (YES all I do at my age is feel pain in various parts of my body.  Either you know what I am talking about or you eventually will).

Where was I going with this?    What a dull, boring post!

The inspirational bumble bee.

I looked for a more exciting picture to pep up the post and found this from The Mustard Seed in Little Falls, NY, thus adding a shout-out to a local business.  The bumble bee is part of their logo, because of the story that aerodynamically speaking, the bumble bee should not be able to fly, but somehow does.  Thus, the owner of the Mustard Seed never lets anybody tell her what she can and can’t do but somehow does what she does.  I have not been to the Mustard Seed in a while, but it is a very fun place to shop.  There are several fine places to shop in Little Falls.  I must take a drive there soon.

Don’t I look like a little devil?

I close with the wine I mentioned in the first paragraph.  I was wearing that shirt and drinking white wine yesterday, but my hair does not look like that these days.  I started to grow it out when I knew I was going to audition for the play I’m in (perhaps you have read my blog posts about that).  It will probably not stay long.

However, this blog post has gotten a little long for a Lame Post Friday post, approaching 400 words.  And I think the coffee I put on earlier is done.  Can headache relief be far?  In any case, I thank you one again for tuning in and hope I have managed to be at least mildly entertaining.

Best Lame Plans for Blogs and Gardens

So I did Wednesday’s post on Thursday then neglected to make Thursday’s post on Thursday or Friday, and here I am Saturday morning thinking I might just make a Lame Post Friday post.  Full disclosure:  I am feeling a bit lightheaded (cue jokes about how I am always somewhat dizzy).  This could be from the last remnants of my cold or it could be from the decongestant I took earlier (it was the kind with the D on the box, that you have to ask the pharmacist for) or it could be a kind of a migraine.  My head does not lack variety, I’ll say that for it.

What my head feels like sometimes.

I throw in a picture to pep up the post.  I do not remember where I saw this skull, but I like it.  Studying the picture, it appears to be on my stairs.  Is this skull somewhere in my house?  Maybe if I continue my efforts at cleaning, I will find it.  Just a little motivation to brighten up my day.

THIS is what I need!

I go a different way with my next picture, showing the rhododendron in my back yard one of the years it was especially beautiful.  I am SO looking forward to spring and hoping to plant many more flowers in my yard.  And maybe a few vegetables.  There are some flowers that may show up again on their own:  the above pictured rhododendron and forget-me-nots, some black- and brown-eyed susans, a few daisies…

From a more ambitious year.

I also hope to have a container garden on my deck.  Flowers, herbs, definitely some basil!  Then I’ll have some people over and we’ll sit amongst the plants and have some iced tea or wine or something.  Won’t that be nice?

I Manage to Make a Post

Yesterday (Thursday) and today (Friday) are Blogger’s Sick Days.  I have a terrible cold, not as terrible as it could be, but it sure isn’t making me happy.  So right now I am making a little placeholder post, then I will make some tea or something.  I wonder if I could bestir myself as far as a pot of chicken soup.

What a difference a year makes!

This is a picture from last February.  It was a very warm day, and my sister Cheryl and her grandkids, Sheppy and Evie, and I went to the playground.  I feel the picture is appropriate because of how one’s head spins when one has a cold.  Also, it is a fun picture.

Random snow picture.

This is from February 2021.  There was less snow.  I need to get out and take a few pictures of what I have been struggling with lately.  However, I have gotten my car unstuck.  Multiple times.  So I have that going for me.

Me drinking tea?

This is, in fact, not me, but I feel that old and wicked.  It is the villainess from The Atomic Brain.  Her evil plan is to transplant her brain into a young and beautiful body.  You know, I don’t think that’s tea she’s drinking.  I bet it’s bourbon.  Maybe single malt scotch.  I’ll have to watch that movie again and see if they say.  Hmmm… cheesy old horror movie might be just right for my current state of mind.

In any case, I am over 250 words, which I find more than respectable for a placeholder post.  It also has elements of Throwback Thursday and Non-Sequitur Thursday.  Who says I can’t multi-task?  Oh yeah, I said it.  Silly me.
