Cheesy Flicks, Cheesy Post?

I thought it might be a good idea to make my Lame Post Friday post on Friday.  I have apparently thought this before, because my predictive text thingy chimed right in with it as I went.  It can be so handy sometimes.

Fun flick!

I have been watching my beloved cheesy horror movies and crocheting.  Earlier I was looking at the news and playing solitaire (with a deck of cards, as regular readers probably know), but I found that too depressing.  Additionally,  I am crocheting a baby afghan for my friend Kim’s grandson.  I hope to finish it while he is still a baby.

I first put in Mesa of Lost Woman, which I enjoyed very much.  Perhaps I will write a whole blog post about it one day (note to self: check if I have already).  My movie write-ups do not seem to get a lot of blogger love (I am sadly quite a Like junky), but I do have fun writing them.

I don’t quite get this poster.

I am currently watching The Incredible Petrified World.  The poster was the only image I could find, and I must say it does not seem to have much to do with what I am watching.  These things happen, I suppose.

And I see I am 9ver 200 words.  Score! I hope to continue my movie watching and crochet activities tomorrow.  Will it be blogworthy?   A little suspense adds interest to my weekend.

This Old Lame

I am attempting to make my Lame Post Friday post on Friday, but no promises as to whether I will hit Publish before Saturday morning.  I am tired, and my eyes are acting funny.  I can’t seem to focus up close or even in the middle distance.  Usually when this happens, I find I have put on the wrong glasses.  Operator Error is kind of a theme in my life.  However, I checked my glasses at least three times; they are a reading pair.

I seem to be asking my body, “What the Hell?” a lot these days.  Earlier today, as I creaked out of my chair after sitting for less than a half hour for lunch, I preceded that question with, “I am 59, not 112!”

This is how old I feel, only not as well dressed.

I interrupt my whining with a picture.  This is me and my friend Jim in a scene from Morning’s at Seven, a play we did at Ilion Little Theatre a few years ago.  I was the oldest sister.

Aging like fine wine?

A friend gave me a plaque that said, “I’m not old, I’m vintage!”  I confess I do not pay too much attention to the vintage of the wine I drink, but I love vintage automobiles.   Although I usually call them classic cars.  Yeah, that’s me:  classic.

I suppose I am not that sleek, but one does what one can.

This car was in the Ilion Days Doodah Parade last year.   I just thought it would be apropos to include a picture of a vintage car.

My foolishness has gotten me over 250 words.  Phew!  We shall see what sort of a post I can come up with for Saturday.  Scattered? Slacker?  A little suspense adds interest to my weekend.

Lame Old Me

Last night I felt too tired to make my Lame Post Friday post, and I am justly served for my laziness, because I have a dreadful headache this morning.  Two lousy glasses of Chardonnay!  I feel most ill-used.  Sorry to bitch about it, but you know how it is.

Pretty!

I looked for a cheerful picture in my Media Library to counteract my whining.  These are my Black-Eyed Susans in August 2017.  The patch does not look nearly as nice this year, but I was happy to get at least some blooms.  I have fallen down dreadfully in the yard and garden department these past few years.  Little by little, I try to improve the situation.

Me, trying to improve the situation.

I used this illustration before with the caption, “Me, hacking away at the overgrowth.”  It amused me so much, I thought I would repeat it for the benefit of anybody that missed it the first time.

Actors at work.

I was looking for a summer activity, so I could also make this a preview of coming attractions.  I found this from when a few members of LiFT, Little Falls Theatre Company,  met at Mangia Macrina’s Pizza in Little Falls, NY to run lines for Love’s Labour’s Lost.  I had actually started to go home, but turned around and joined them.  Alas, no LiFT or Shakespeare appear to be in my near future, but theatre is.  And possibly a pizza from Mangia Macrina’s.

OK, one more Shakespeare picture.

Lame is of the Essence

Exchange in an otherwise unmemorable movie:
Guy: You don’t like my kind of a guy much, do you?
Girl: Not much. But in your case I’ll make an exception. You I don’t like a lot.

I just posted that as my Facebook status and thought it might be good as part of my Lame Post Friday blog post. I’m afraid this post’s greatest virtue is going to be that I am making it on time instead of on Saturday morning as I have been sadly wont to do.  But perhaps I can come up with something at least mildly entertaining.

The movie I am not really watching (but by chance heard the above exchange) is The Unknown World (1951) from our DVD collection The Best of the Worst.  I once wrote a blog post about it.  It was in the days before I knew how to put pictures in the blog.  I looked for a picture just now but did not find one.

Another Best of the Worst.

Still wanting to add a picture,  I share this one, the poster from another movie in the collection.  I am a great fan of cheesy horror movies, especially the older ones.  Some of course are more entertaining than others.  Just like my blog posts.

However, this one is over 200 words, so I say good enough.  Happy Friday, everyone.

Lame at Liverpool

OK, any local readers who are at all likely to go to my house and rob it (I’m thinking not very many of you), do not bother.  There is nothing there worth stealing.  However, if anybody does decide to break in, please clean up a little while you are there.  At least do the dishes and throw a little cleaner into the toilet, there’s a doll.

Where was I?  Ah yes, posting away from home.  I am at my sister Diane’s house in Liverpool.  It was a great deal of trouble to get here, but I am here now, relaxing and sipping Diane’s wine.

Well that was annoying.  I took a nice picture of my glass of wine with Diane’s pool in the background, and my Tablet did not save it.  In the meantime my cousin Mary said it was too chilly to remain outside and we all came back in, so that is a photo op lost.

A little blurry, but it will have to do.

I tried to take a picture indoors, as you can see, with lesser success.  However, it seems everybody has gathered in the other room, and I am missing out on some good visiting. Damn it!  That is why I drove there tonight!

So this is my Friday Lame Post.  No promises about tomorrow.  I have some visiting to do!

Lame Conquers All

It doesn’t,  of course.  Neither love nor lame conquers all; I just like putting “lame” into a popular saying for the headlines of my Lame Post Friday posts.  In this case, my lameness conquered me last night and I am once again making my Lame Post Friday post on Saturday morning, but one could scarcely consider that conquering all, even if one was given to hyperbole.

Last night I auditioned for a play the for the first time in over a year.  I will write more about that later, especially if I return to the second or third night of auditions (preview of coming attractions).  After auditions my friend Kim and I went to Lombardo’s Pizza for food and wine.  That may be why I became too tired to blog last night.

The slippers have since worn out.

I drew a blank on what to say next so resorted to my Media Library  and found this shot from a play I was in at Ilion Little Theatre in 2015 (yikes! That was a while ago).  I was Lily Piper in The Busybody.

I still have these sneakers.

I purposely looked for another picture of my feet.  I was wearing these socks yesterday, but different sneakers and no leggings.  I meant to take a picture but forgot to.  Too lame?  You decide.

(B)Lame it on the Boilermaker

I am inordinately late making my Lame Post Friday post.  I made the conscious decision not to post last night.  I looked at the blank space on the Add New Post screen and said, “I don’t want to.” Perhaps it was reprensible of me as a self-proclaimed daily blogger, but these things happen.

I had suffered from a headache all day at my not heinous but also not air-conditioned job.  A cool shower felt good, but I could not just lounge around.  I had to go to the MVHS Health and Wellness Expo at Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC) to pick up my packet for the Boilermaker 15K in Utica tomorrow (tomorrow?  Yikes!).

The Expo is a big deal and very well attended.  I had to contend with a goodly amount of traffic, which can be intimidating when you are not sure where you are going.  Yes, I have been to MVCC before but not since the mid-teens (that is the 20teens, not my teens).  I have never been much for crowd scenes,  especially when I am by myself.  However, one does what one must.

I might as well just admit that the Boilermaker has always intimidated me to a certain degree.  It’s not running 9.3 miles I fear; I can rely on my own stubbornness to get me through that.  It is just such a large event.  Will I find a place to park?  Will I make it through the long lines at the porta-potties before the race?  Will I be able to navigate the really large crowd at the after-party? These are the questions that haunt me.

The actual running is less of a problem.  I lament the crowds, but I cannot deny that all those people cheering us on can be a big help.  I like to read the signs, high five kids, dance to the bands… It is a fun run.

So now I have talked myself back into looking forward to it.  I expect to go back and forth as the day wears on.  No matter.  It will give me something to do while I hydrate.

Whine Today, Wine Tomorrow

I do not know why I am so tired.  I did not go running after work, because I was concerned about air quality issues.  I also did not run errands as I had intended to do nor did I do the laundry and other household chores.  I feel even more tired after listing the things I was supposed to do.

So I am thinking this is not merely a Lame Post Friday post, I am having a Lame Friday!

Have a bloody good day!

I thought I would throw in a picture before I got too bogged down.  A little vampire always brightens my day.

Tomorrow I am getting together with family at a winery for good music and good times.  I have nothing to wear (see previous paragraph about not doing laundry), the wrong gel for my hair, and no gas in my car.  These are problems which can be solved in the morning, I hope.

Perhaps this could form part of tomorrow’s ensemble.

Now I am just looking for random pictures to fill up the post.

Who, me? Drink wine?

Perhaps I am still tired as a result of yesterday’s migraine.  These things can take a toll on a woman my age (by the way, I have been referring to myself as “a woman my age” since my mid-30s).

In the meantime, I have made it to over 200 words with this nonsense.  I hope you are all having a delightful Friday, and thank you for tuning in.

Lame, Lame, Go Away

The title might have been more apropos if it had rained a little more today.  I was counting on a big old thunderstorm to give me an excuse not to run.  Then I felt so tired, I just decided not to.  Six days in a row, with yesterday’s being three miles,  I argued with myself, surely that is enough (sometimes I call myself Shirley when I am arguing).  Additionally, this was my own challenge to me, to see how many days in a row I could run.  Wouldn’t this just mean I could run six days in a row?

As it turns out, I can run seven days in a row.

There I was, lounged on the couch, still in my dirty work clothes, too tired to even take my bra off, never mind taking a shower, however good it might make me feel.  I couldn’t believe how tired I felt!  Eventually I stood up and made it upstairs.

“I can’t do anything,” I said.  “But if I could do just one thing, maybe I could take a shower.”  Just take a shower, I repeated to myself.  Just take a shower.

After some contemplation, I followed my original plan, which was to throw in a load of laundry and go running while it washed.  For one reason, all my spandex running shorts were dirty, as well as all my favorite weekend clothes.  I put on a pair of just regular shorts and a t-shirt, and somehow made it out the door.

Just a little overgrown.

I felt the  post could use a picture.  This stretch of sidewalk is on the block I live on.  I usually run on the other side of the street, to avoid the pricker bushes.

Today’s run was rough.  I huffed. I puffed. I thunked along.  I made it for twenty minutes, which kind of surprised me.  I had thought, just run one mile, which I have been doing in 13 or 14 minutes.  Just run for 15 minutes.  20 minutes?  Oh no, I couldn’t.

My first mile was 13 minutes and change.  I couldn’t possibly keep going for another seven minutes! Then it was only six minutes.  I could make it six minutes.  Couldn’t I?

So I ended up running for 20 minutes, about a mile and a half (too lazy to go get my Garmin and find the exact number).   I walked a shorter cool down than usual but gratefully drank my full chocolate milk recovery beverage. The shower felt oh so good.

And this blog post is running oh so long.  How inappropriate for Lame Post Friday.  I guess I’m better at running my mouth than running my body.

I like it too, lame posts and all.

Another Glass of Lame?

I was going to put off making my Lame Post Friday post till Saturday morning but decided to pour myself another glass of Sauvignon Blanc and do it now.  What are you shaking your head at (or your finger or your booty) (you know how you are)?  It is only my second glass of wine.  And it is Friday night!

I am kind of sort of watching The Ape Man with Bela Lugosi.  I found a DVD set I had forgotten I had:  The Best of the Worst.  I already watched Manos the Hands of Fate and Track of the Moon Beast, both of which have been featured on Mystery Science Theatre 3000.  Again, kind of, sort of (the me watching part, not the MST3K featuring part).  I have been looking at Facebook or doing puzzles in a puzzle book.  I need a new puzzle book, by the way.

My current viewing pleasure.

This is not the best picture.  Then again, some of the movies are not the best prints.  I love buying these collections for cheap.  Sometimes I get the same movie two or three times, but that is OK with me.  The Brain That Wouldn’t Die, The Terror, and others bear multiple viewings.

For the record, I have not been completely useless tonight.  I finished two articles for Mohawk Valley Living magazine and got them emailed out.  I hope they like at least one of them.

I see I am over 200 words.  Time to stop babbling on and pay more attention to what is happening to Bela.  Happy Friday, everyone!
