Now I’ll Try to Sleep Again

I guess I fell asleep without making my Saturday blog post. These things happen. Why is it that one can snooze on the couch while the television continues to play something one was totally interested in, no problem, then when one goes upstairs to a comfortable bed in a darkened bedroom, one remains wide awake?

It’s not that I am one of those people who need noise to sleep. Steven used to like to sleep with the radio on. I made him use the Sleep function, which made it play for an hour then shut off. As for having a television in the bedroom, forget it!

So I don’t know what my problem is, but here I am at one in the morning, wide awake. Usually, I do not get out of bed. Normally I stay in bed, doing relaxation techniques which I make up for myself, until eventually I sleep again.

This time, I could hear that Steven had gotten back up and was watching a movie. He has insomnia, too, but is not the longtime sufferer that I am. I have always had insomnia. I should be used to it by now. But I decided to get back up and make my neglected blog post.

Who knew I was going to spend 200 words griping about my insomnia? Oh, you probably knew (you know who you are). But so I have. Good night again.

What’s in a Lame?

Have I used that title before? I’m too lazy to go back and check. It is almost 11:30 Friday night, so I am getting my Lame Post Friday Post in just under the wire.

Here’s a weird thing: my Predictive Text thingy has stopped predicting things it previously predicted most of the time. For example, it used to be if I typed in (that is, pecked in one letter at a time with the stylus) “Lame,” the predictive text would predict, “Post Friday.” Today, it did not.

That is about the most interesting thing I can come up with at this point. I am usually in bed by this time on a Friday or any other night. Not always asleep, because I am a chronic insomniac.

Oh, here is something else weird. I just typed “insomniac” into Google to make sure I spelled it right, because my Tablet underlined it, and it seems there is a whole big thing called Insomniac. I was invited to plan my next insomniac event! What the hell? I did not explore the matter. In fact, I hesitate to mention it, in case I am advertising something quite unworthy, but it kind of went with my stream of consciousness vibe, if you see what I mean.

And now I have rattled on for 200 sufficiently lame words, I will sign off and try again to sleep. Happy Friday, for whatever is left of it!

Flowers from the Past, Hope for the Future

I thought I might try a Throwback Thursday Post, only I don’t know what I should throw back to. I have several times lamented my inability to maneuver through my Media Library. Then again, if I rely on my Media Library, I may just keep throwing back to the same tired memories.

May flowers.

I tried the Media Library and found these tulips from 2017. I hope I get some tulips this year. Perhaps I should put down some bulbs for next year.

A lot of daisies!

Here are some more front yard flowers. I wonder if I didn’t let the daisies go a little too far. Nah!

Ah, the container garden.

This is a Before shot of 2017’s container garden. I don’t know that I can easily find any of the After pictures. If I even took any. You never know with me.

I guess I did take a few.

So here is my Throwback Thursday Post. Some flowers from the past, which makes me look forward to the future. I am remembering a cartoon I have seen more than once on Facebook.

“I think the new year will bring flowers.

“Why do you think that?”

“Because I’m planting flowers.

I think that’s a nice note to end on. Happy Thursday, everyone!

Mid-Week Run, Tired Post

I thought it was supposed to be raining with dropping temperatures this afternoon. When I left work (at my new job, by the way), it had rained but was not doing so currently. Additionally, it was warm. It felt almost summery.

Earlier in the day, I had repented not running Monday and Tuesday. By the time I got home, I realized I might have a chance to redeem myself. It was cloudy and threatening, but MAYBE I could get a run in. And I could write a blog post about it, instead of having a Wuss-out Wednesday!

I happily dressed in shorts and short sleeves. I put a sweatshirt on the porch for my cool-down walk but was not sure I needed it. I set out with high hopes.

For the first few blocks, it was not at all bad. I wasn’t too tired to run! This was great! I turned left onto German Street, keeping on the sidewalk, because afternoon traffic in Herkimer can be heavy.

A mere seven or so minutes into the run (I looked at my Garmin but do not remember the exact time), I felt tired. Just persevere, I told myself. I am up to 45 minutes on my weekend runs. I certainly did not have to go that far today. Still, 15 minutes might be a trifle paltry.

I settled on half of my longest time. 22 1/2 minutes. I ended up going just over 23. It did not start to rain. Score! I petted one nice dog along the way. I felt quite pleased with myself.

Right now I feel more tired than pleased. I’m not sure it was all that great of a run, and as usual, I question the quality of my blog post. However, also as usual, I trust the process. I ran. I posted. Happy Wednesday, everyone!

Too Tired to Cook

It was a beautiful afternoon today. My husband Steve and I sat out on the front porch waiting for the sub we ordered from Salvatore’s Pizzeria and Restaurant in Herkimer, NY. The beauty part of that is, I can give a shout-out to a local business instead of making a purely Tired Tuesday Post.

I’m afraid it is a Tired Tuesday Post. Maybe I need to start living a healthier lifestyle so I don’t keep feeling so tired all the time. In the meantime, I must try to make today’s blog post.

We order from Salvatore’s fairly regularly. I like their wings and salads. Steven is fond of their garlic pizza. The last two times, however, we ordered subs. Yum!

I need to give a shout-out to another local pizzeria soon. Sunday we enjoyed food from Enzo’s Pizza. I’ll let that stand as a preview of coming attractions.

Do you suppose I should be cooking for myself more often? But then I would be less supportive of local businesses. I never get tired of supporting local businesses!

Enzo’s Pizza is located at 122 N. Main St., Herkimer NY, phone number 315-985-9090. They are open Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday noon to p.m.

Salvatore’s Pizzeria and Restaurant is located at 650 1/2 W. German St., Herkimer NY, phone number 315-866-2600. They are open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, closed Sunday.

It’s Not Right to Not Write

Yes, this is another late post. I just did not want to make the attempt last night. I am going through a bad writing period. Not to make too many complaints, but I have a few personal problems as well. There may be no solution to the personal problems; after all, no matter what I do, I will always be the same person.

However, the solution to writing problems, according to almost anyone you ask, is Write Just Write.

I have always maintained that it is not that simple. I still maintain that, but now I want to shout at myself: Of course it’s not that simple! Nothing is simple! It never will be! Just do it!

So here I am, babbling on. I made this concession to my laziness: I am lounged on the couch, pecking at the Tablet with the stylus instead of sitting upright at the laptop, industriouslly industriously (how do like this: I made the typo of putting two “l”s in “industrustiously” and now my autocorrect thinks that is how you spell it!).

And I have not much to say. However, I am approaching 200 words, and I need to get back to dealing with my day. I will attempt to Write Just Write a better blog post later,

Mooning Over My Blog Post

Last night, when Steven stepped outside, he told me there was quite a nice moon. I took a couple pictures, first with my phone.

A trifle blurry.

I was not best pleased with the shots, so I tried again with my Tablet.

I did not howl.

The moon is the uppermost light. The lower one is a streetlamp.

You can see the houses a little better.

I tried a few shots.

One more attempt,

I offer these shots in lieu of a Wrist to Forehead Sunday Blog Post. Full disclosure: I am tired and not the least bit inclined to make a real post. Therefore, I offer a few pictures and forego my usual criteria of at least 200 words.

I hope you are all having a delightful Sunday.

I Loves Me Some Crocuses!

In lieu of making my Saturday post early Sunday morning, I thought I would share a few pictures I took of some spring flowers. Earlier today I was walking home from a couple of errands when I saw a few white flowers poking up out of a nearby yard. I grabbed my Tablet.

I don’t know what they are called.

I have noticed a little growth while walking home from work but had not gotten around to taking a real walk and get some pictures. These things last such a short time, I was glad to get a picture or two.

There it is!

I walked up a driveway to get this crocus. When I got home, I found none in my front yard. However, I did see some green. I believe it was some lilies of the valley, which last year vied with the daisies for control of the area.

I guess there were also a few weeds.

Walking out back, I found a few crocuses where none grew last year.

Aren’t they lovely?
So graceful.
My favorites are the white with purple veins.

I also noticed some daffodils starting. How cheerful!

I should perhaps clear away the leaves.

I was so delighted to see some flowers. I mean to plant more this year and perhaps a few vegetables as well. How encouraging to see some beauty happening already! I wonder how much better I can make it look with a little effort.

In the meantime, I feel grateful for spring. And that I made a blog post on time. Happy Saturday, everyone!

Nything on Lame Post Friday

I had my relaxing interlude last night, but I have not been exactly un-relaxed this evening. For heaven’s sake, it’s Friday, if I can’t relax tonight when can I? Oh well, I guess almost any time.

Whenever I get all TGIF, I become uncomfortably aware of all the people that work weekends. I used to work weekends, and I hated it. Then again, I often enjoyed my days off during the week. Wait a minute, where was I going with this?

Obviously, this is Lame Post Friday. I can only feel happy that I am not typing this in early Saturday morning. I feel one must celebrate these small wins.

He’s my guy.

I just got done watching a DVR’d episode of Svengoolie. The Leech Woman. What cheesy fun! I am debating watching another episode or a DVR’d true crime show. I have a slew of Datelines on my List.

But first I must make my blog post.

Unfortunately, once again, I got nuthin’ (oh, that was a weird autocorrect: nything for nuthin’. That’s not even a word!) (Or is it?) (At least it gave me a headline).

How could I resist?

I do feel inclined to write a post about The Leech Woman. I have not done a movie write-up in a long time. They don’t get as many Likes as other posts (I am a notorious Like junky), but they are oh so fun to write.

As for this post, I see I have rattled on for over 200 words. I call that respectable, even if they have been 200 lame words. Happy Friday, everyone!

A Relaxing Interlude

It was unseasonably warm today, and I was delighted I left work early enough to enjoy it. I was too lazy to go for a run or a walk, but I spent a lovely hour or two sitting on my front porch.

I was the picture of leisure.

I had been saying at work that I was either going to go for a run or have a beer on my front porch. A co-worker was puzzled by what she saw as two things which cancelled each other out.

“It’s just two different ways of making myself happy,” I explained. As you can see, I opted for the latter. I changed a clunkier pair of shoes for a light canvas pair. I am so delighted to wear my little canvas sneakers again. They offer my feet zero support, but I love them so much.

The view I enjoyed.

I took a few pictures from where I sat. The lighting was not the best, but I can’t control the sun.

Frankentree obscures the view.

We discussed how we may need to deal with Frankentree, as he becomes more and more of a monster.

Not the best view of the pumpkin or the trees.

Steven told me not to take a picture of him, so I shot over his head. I was hoping to get the pumpkin hanging from the porch and the trees down the street.

A depiction of my relaxation.

I took one more shot of my cute shoes. My father made me the footstool. It is also handy to stand on to reach things. When I am not relaxing.

So was this a better blog post? I let my readers be the judge. Judges. Happy Thursday, friends.
