Not Slacker, Not Scattered, and Not Even Saturday

It was partway through the evening last night when I realized I had not made a Saturday blog post and did not intend to.  It is not really a defense, but I worked all day and was having a very enjoyable evening.

Since I worked, I feel a Slacker Saturday Post is ineligible, and since I was only at work and home, it was clearly not a Scattered Sunday.  I have not started running, so no Saturday Running Commentary.  My husband, Steve, did watch a few movies.  Perhaps a Saturday Cinema Post.

Isn’t she pretty?

We started with Horror of Dracula, at my request.  It is another Hammer horror on DVD I got for Christmas.  Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, YES!  I spent a good deal of the movie telling Steven what was similar or different  from the book.  We readers often do that.  I have no problem with a movie making changes; it is a different medium.  I just like to point these things out, sometimes adding commentary on whether or not I approve of the change.  I’m sure some people would find me annoying to watch a movie with, but I mostly watch movies with Steve, so the problem does not arise.

He is the man!

We went on to watch a couple of episodes of Columbo, another Christmas present.  I received the entire collection, so we may be doing this for a while.

I see I am over 200 words, which is a good thing, because I am out of movies.  I will strive to make my Sunday blog post on Sunday.  As always, I hope you’ll stay tuned.

Not Really Friday and I Want a Beer!

Look at me, making my Lame Post Friday post on Friday.  Only it is not really a Friday for me, because I have to work on Saturday.   I feel so ill-used!  I know, I know, many people have to work on Saturday.  I used to be one of them.  I mean, I used to have to work every Saturday of my life.  So I must count my blessings that I do not have to work every damn Saturday.

I believe it would make a dull post to spend 200 words complaining about having to work tomorrow,  so I will change the subject.  I know!  I will search my Media Library for a picture to pep things up.

Some people have no perception.

In fact, sometimes I am piddle-puttering.  I wonder if that word is hyphenated?  According to the plaque, lolly gagging and dilly dallying are not.

It often is.

I did have a rather stressful day.  However, I have had worse, and so once again I count my blessings.  I did indulge in a libation when I got home, but it was not beer.  I may go to Beer Belly Bob’s in Ilion, NY, and purchase some one day soon.

I don’t know if the bottom sign is still applicable.

Just to complete my post with a shout out:  Route 51 Beer Belly Bob’s Discount Beverage Center is located at 70 Otsego St., Ilion, NY, phone number 315-895-0936.  They are open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and  Saturday,  11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Foggy Walk

Thursday I took my walk a little later than usual, because that is my late day at work.  The sun was up, but you could barely tell due to the fog.  I took my phone with me, thinking I would try a couple of pictures for a Pedestrian Post.  I emphasize “try,” because how good can a picture look when it is of what you can’t see?

I guess I could see pretty far after all.

I have always loved fog.  It is so mysterious.  There was an infamous episode when my husband, Steve, and I got lost driving in the fog over Higby Road (yes, autocorrect, “Higby” is a word; I did not mean Hit by).  That was PB (pre blog).

Mysterious trees.

I walked along German Street to Valley Health, to walk up that hill.  I took the above picture along the way.  I had hoped for a good shot at the top of the hill but had no luck.  Perhaps if I would have walked up College Hill I could have gotten the shot, but I had neither the time nor the physical wherewithal for such exertions.  Hey, I just started walking again, remember?

Running water always makes a nice picture.

I carefully held my phone in one of the gaps in the chain link fence on the little bridge.  It was a pleasant walk.  I am happy to be getting some exercise again.  And I am hoping people do not mind that I made my Thursday blog post on Friday morning.

Another Fun Fratello’s Night

Regular readers remember my Wednesday Night Thing,  which I have not indulged in recently.  Today I went to Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort in hopes of seeing a local musician.  Imagine my chagrin when there was no music this evening!  However, I had an enjoyable evening and thought I could make a blog post about it.

One thing that made it a good evening was that I encountered my niece Kim and her boyfriend Matt.  Everybody knows good company makes for a good evening!

A fun couple!

We had some good laughs as well as enjoying good food and great service.  Our bartender was named Kim too. She remembered that I like Pinot Noir and that I prefer a coaster above as well as beneath.  In fact, the coaster above is most useful in the summer, when there might be little bugs flying around.  But I like to  be in the habit, just in case.

Excellent service!

Kim the bartender graciously offered to take a picture of the three of us.

We did have a nice time.

I enjoyed my evening and took home leftovers for subsequent lunches or dinners.

Fratello’s Pizzeria is located at 158 E. Main St., Frankfort,  NY, phone number 315-894-8484.  They are open 11 a.m, to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday.

No Toot Tuesday?

I don’t know what I thought I was going to make other than a Tired Tuesday Post.   I mentioned Toot My Horn Tuesday,  but I really have no reason to do any such thing.  It is the third day of the New Year. There is no sign of a new me, and I am quite frankly getting a little tired of the old me.

Yes, yes, yes, I know what I said yesterday about there being worse things than a large ego, implying you know what about the size of mine.  Who knew a large ego could come and go with such irregularity?  Oh, YOU probably did (you know who you are).  Come to think of it, I knew it too; mine has been coming and going my whole life.  You would think I would be used to it by now.

Regular readers know I usually do enter.

I thought I would throw in a picture to pep things up only had no idea of what.  I started to scroll through my Media Library and found this.  I thought, when it comes to pondering if I have any reason for ego, I really should not go there.

This is good advice for me, now that I think about it.  It would be a good idea if I just went about my business and did not worry too much about my own worth.  I am hardly the best judge of such things.

I see this nonsense has brought me over 200 words.  200 worthy words?  As I said, I am not the best judge of these things.  However, as always, I thank you for tuning in.

Do You Believe It’s the Same Old Monstrous Monday?

Hello and welcome to another Monstrous Monday Post.  I feel under  the heading New Year, New You, I should do something different, but the fact of the matter is, I am the same old me.   Mind you, I am not apologizing for that.  I think there is a lot to be said for the same old me.  I won’t say it, because it is unbecoming to toot one’s own horn (although I did once try a feature called Toot My Horn Tuesday).  Never mind all that.  How about some monsters?

I’m remembering all the times I’ve said, “Can you believe that guy?”

While not tooting my own horn, is it egotistical to say I believe in myself?  Two answers come to mind:  One, I have often said there are worse things than having an ego the size of Manhattan.  Two, what exactly do I believe?  I discount the second answer, because most people find it very annoying when you answer a question with a question.

If you’re cold, they’re cold! Let them in!

I veer off the subject of me with a shot of my favorite guy, Nosferatu.  He’s looking a little confused in this shot.  Maybe somebody just told him they don’t believe in vampires.  Or perhaps he was expecting window panes.

“It could be worse. It could be raining.”

I like to use three pictures so will close with this artistic shot from Frankenstein, complete with caption from Young Frankenstein.  Nothing wrong with mixing and matching monster movies, is there?

This gets me over 250 words.  Score!  I hope you’ll join the same old me tomorrow, when it might be Tired Tuesday.

Sunday Stroll into the New Year

I have not been running or walking since mid-December when I got sick with the flu.  I decided to take January 1st to re-start with a walk.  I took my phone with me, so I could make a Pedestrian Post with Pictures.

It was warm for January, upper 30s, lower 40s (my thermostat is not strictly accurate).  It had been raining.  I had not gone very far when I saw it was still sprinkling.  I could not worry about that; I was out, I was going to continue.  I turned down German Street towards Main.  I slipped a little on some ice on the sidewalk, but there were plenty of bare patches.  I tried to stick with those.

I’d like to stay there sometime.

I passed the Grand Colonial Bed and Breakfast and took a picture,  so I could plug a local business.  Traffic was quiet enough that I could easily cross German at Main Street.  I wanted to walk down the path over what used to be a hydraulic canal.

It’s good to run on, too, but that is for another day.

I also took pictures of the plaques with information on the history.  Full disclosure:  I have never read them but only taken a glance while passing.

I guess I could read it now.

Maybe I’ll read them both the next time I go for a walk.

I crossed German in the middle of the block to continue down the path.

The more fun section of the path.

After leaving the path, I headed toward my beloved Herkimer Historic Four Corners.

I tried to get all four corners as I approached.

I guess I cut off the top of the church.

I could use a wider angle lens.

I decided to try to make it a long walk, since I am getting back into things after a break.  I ended up walking up and down my driveway for about 40 seconds in order to make it a full 20 minutes.  I was quite pleased with my walk.  I hope to take another one tomorrow.

Murder Movies on New Year’s Eve

I have developed a bad habit of not posting on the weekend.  I thought I would try to break that habit by making my Saturday blog post today.  Unfortunately,  I got nuthin’.

I have been enjoying New Year’s Eve all afternoon, with champagne.  It was my favorite champagne, Great Western from the Finger Lakes.  I have read that it is not real champagne if it is not from a certain region of France, so I don’t know how Great Western gets away with it.  I do  not at all care.  It is yummy.  Whatever you call it, I am going to drink it.

The point is, I am feeling a little tired and tipsy.  I feel this is understandable if not actually  expected on New Year’s Eve.

A fun movie with a great cast.

Traditionally, my husband, Steve, and I watch movies on New Year’s Eve.  I just spent some time searching my Media Library for a picture of Murder by Death, which I knew I had somewhere.

One of my favorite guys.

Mostly we have been watching episodes of Columbo. Fun!  We did take time for one horror movie, Taste the Blood of Dracula.  I know I don’t have a graphic of that in my Media Library.  Or do I?

Here it is!

I guess  I will bill this as a Saturday Cinema Post.  Happy New Year, everybody!

One More Friday Lame Post

There I was, drinking wine, watching Columbo on DVD (a Christmas present!), and I suddenly realized:  I don’t want to make my Lame Post Friday post on Saturday!   What’s a blogger to do?  Pour another glass of wine and blog away while Peter Falk continues to track down the killer.

“Oh, one more thing.”

I said earlier today I might write something about New Year’s Resolutions.  Many people these days get all huffy when you bring up New Year’s Resolutions (you know who you are).  “I don’t make New Year’s Resolutions!” they aver.  “When I see something about myself that needs improvement, I make that change.  I don’t wait till January 1st to do it.”  Their implication, of course, is that they really need no improvement, how presumptuous of me to imply such a thing.  It could be, and how envious I am of such self confidence!

However, the “make improvements any time” school of thought makes me wonder if New Year’s Resolutions are not a gigantic excuse to behave very badly for the latter part of December.  One could add “or longer!”  although I like to think most of us would feel a little silly saying something like, “I can’t start a diet in July; I must wait till January 1st!”

I guess I don’t really have much to say about New Year’s Resolutions,  not even Columbo’s  “one more thing.”  However, I see I am over 200 words.  That works, especially on Lame Post Friday.  Back to Columbo!

Decorations Past, Future Plans?

I am not waiting for my dining-room-table-top to boot up and get to WordPress, I am pecking in one letter at a time with the stylus on my Tablet as I sit lounged on my comfy couch.  Full disclosure: I am not as comfy as I might be, because I keep doing crap to irritate my back.  I know, I know:  lift with my legs, not my back!

Anyways, it is Friday morning, and I thought I would try for some semblance of a blog post.  A comment yesterday complimented me on my Christmas decorations.  I confess, they are not great this year, but I can share some pictures of previous years and call it a Throwback Thursday Post.

Look at all our toys!

2017 was a good decorating year, it seems.

A less cluttered arrangement.

It is nice to look at these pictures and think, “Maybe next year…”  Then again, I think I thought that last year.

Backing up from the previous shot.

I have long had it in my head to get my house thoroughly cleaned and organized.  I make a little progress, then get discouraged and slack off.  I suddenly have the thought that it is time for New Year’s Resolutions. Could I use this sort of motivation to jump start my efforts?

Hmmm… This could start me off on a whole big thing on New Year’s Resolutions, which have become a kind of a controversial topic.  Sounds like a good idea for Lame Post Friday, a post I hope to make later.  We shall see.
