Late Blog Posts Are Apparently an Option

AAAAaaand the late posts continue, as I type in my Lame Post Friday post early(ish) Saturday morning.  I probably shall never feel I am up early again unless it is 5 a.m. or earlier, just so you know.  I open today with a bit of half-baked philosophy.  I was on Facebook yesterday and a friend posted a list of advice.  Most of it was pretty good, but one said to choose to feel happy, being sad should never be an option.  I flashed on drill sergeants saying, “Failure is not an option,” meaning of course that it was a shameful option (ooh, here I go philosophizing again).  Anyways, this is what I commented:
Except the part about being sad should never be an option. Some things ARE sad, and sometimes we have to allow ourselves to feel sad. You can’t always choose how you feel. That said, you can tell yourself things that might help you feel better, you can choose to have a cheerful attitude, you can accept feeling sad and that might lead you to feel happy sooner. The whole “you can just decide to be happy” idea has caused me no end of grief and sadness, because I felt something was wrong with me when I would try to choose happiness and only end up feeling more depressed. Sorry about the long comment. Perhaps I should put it in a blog post.

How could you choose not to smile at this scene?

I like to put I a picture after two long(ish) paragraphs.  This fits in with the theme, because it falls under the heading Little Things That Bring You Joy.  Longtime readers know my late dearly missed husband Steve and I liked to dress our skeleton Bonita for the season.  He was really a great one for decorating for various holidays.  I am unfortunately still trying to unbury my house from the mess I let it get into over the last few years (I confess since even before Steven died).  However, sometimes decorating the mess makes me feel a little cheerful.

Bert the Birtday Gorilla wanted to get into the act too.

I’m afraid Bert looks more Hawaiin than Easter, but I did not want to spend too much time searching my house for decorations, and I felt it was the wrong thing to do to buy more stuff when I am trying to get rid of things (although the dollar store had some cute stuff!).  I felt good about myself that I had been cleaning for a while before I dressed up Bonita and Burt.
Now I feel good about myself , because I have managed a blog post of over 400 words. Yay!  What will my Saturday bring?  I do not know, but I hope an on-time blog post.

Hope Your Thanksgiving Is Grand

I steal a moment away from family to make a Thanksgiving Day blog post.  It will not be a long post. It may not be a good post.  I am making it from my not so smart phone, not my favorite way of posting. But let us see what I can come up with. Oh swell, it will not let me start a new paragraph.  What’s that all about, WordPress?

I think he is cute.

This is the vegetable board which was my contribution to the Thanksgiving feast.  There were more vegetables in the fridge to replenish the tail as we ate it down.

As you can see, I figured out how to start a new paragraph. At least, I am starting new paragraphs. Quite frankly I do not know what I am doing differently to make it work.

Pretty!

I took this picture on a walk a few of us took.  I have to appreciate any remaining color.  I thought the rain had abated at least somewhat when I suggested the walk.  The precipitation increased after we had gone a couple blocks, so we did not take a long walk.

I do not see how many words I have so far, but I hope it is sufficient. Once again I will try for a better blog post tomorrow. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Trying for a Wrist to Forehead Sunday Post

It has been a few days since I made a blog post.  I almost made one on Thursday after trick or treating.  I got this far:

I hope everybody had, or is still having a happy Halloween.  I greeted trick or treaters, ran out of candy, and handed out spider rings to the last few.  Now I am tired and do not know if I will be able to finish this post before my Tablet runs out of charge.  Or I run out of oomph.

Then my Tablet got a little hinky about adding a picture, so I got a little discouraged.

Random Halloween related picture.

The Tablet is still jumping around like a — oh crap, I am no good at analogy!  Never mind.  All I want to do is make a simple Wrist to Forehead Sunday post, when I shall swoon, dramatically posed with the back of one wrist to my forehead.  My sister Diane actually has a chaise lounge; she calls it a fainting couch.  Nice!

My computer problems may be under control soon.  Diane is sending me the charging cord for my Chromebook.  I don’t know that I can really blame my computer problems for my blogging shortcomings.  After all, here I am pecking in one letter at a time with the stylus, and I can get on my phone to add the title.  And there is the library for computer use, at least Monday through Saturday.

I was there Saturday but did not get on a computer.

Well this has been another foolish post, but I think we have established that a foolish post is better than no post at all, have we not?  Once again, I will try for a  better blog post tomorrow.

Trying to Cope with First World Problems

Here I am, still on my Tablet, and YES I an grateful to at least have that.  It is under the heading First World Problems.  I will just go ahead and admit I am in a bad headspace right now.  After some more coffee and making some semblance of a blog post, I will try to do something about it.

Random picture to denote passage of time while I get more coffee.

Another problem with the Tablet (YES, a First World Problem! Sheesh!) is it likes to jump around, making it very difficult to add categories and tags.  Yesterday I gave up on them, but that was just a placeholder post anyways.  Today I am going for a combination Mid-Week Monsters and Tired Tuesday Post, made on Wednesday morning, and not so early either.  I was up late last night.

I may be as toothless one day.

Since I started out with non-movie monster’s, I continue with some scary neighborhood pumpkins which I have shared before.  I have not gotten a pumpkin yet this year.  Will I make the drive to Pumpkin Junction in Sauquoit today, Halloween Eve?  Maybe, but I have much to get done today.  Will I do it all? Unlikely.   Will I do any of it?  One can hope.

In any case, I am over 200 words.  I will see if I can use my phone to add title, categories,  and tags. You see, I don’t just whine about my problems.  Sometimes I try to do something about them.

I was going to say Mohawk Valley Girl is experiencing technical difficulties, but I am afraid it is Operator Error every time.  This time I forgot my Chromebook charger at my sister’s house in Liverpool, NY.  Right now I am on my Tablet,  pecking in one letter at a time with the stylus.  I can make a blog post this way and used to do it all the time, but now for some obscure reason (may be operator error once again) I can’t put a title in.

This is really not my biggest problem, only my blog’s biggest problem.  I have observed before: for this blog not to appear is neither a great tragedy nor a literary loss of any great magnitude.

But never mind my biggest problem, my blog’s problem, or any of the myriad problems I suffer (most of which I bring on myself, so don’t bother telling me that) (you know who you are) (and, yes, that is Operator Error once again). Talking about problems is tiresome.

I expect to solve a couple of problems later with a trip to one of my favorite places, the library.  Stay tuned, dear readers! Better blog posts are coming!

A Late Post Concerning Coffee and Procrastination

I did not have a particularly Wrist to Forehead Sunday. I had a pretty good Sunday with a good rehearsal for Curtains for Frangelica.  To make my late Sunday post a little happier, I just figured out what I did to make my post look so odd as I type it.  I went from “Visual” to “Text.”  Let me try to add a picture to see if I really solved the problem.

My delightful cast.

The picture also denoted passage of time while I went and got more coffee.  I actually put on coffee last night instead of waiting till morning to do it, as I have regrettably been doing lately.  It is interesting how often one can say, “Oh, I’ll do it later,” then later be annoyed one did not do it at the time.  And yet one never learns.  One being me, of course.  I am sure any number of you have learned that lesson and are feeling rather smug right now (you know who you are). But I digress.

I had thought this blog might become All Curtains for Frangelica All the Time, with our performance set for this Saturday, Oct. 12, but apparently I am more into typing inanities about coffee and procrastination.

Still one writes what one can, even if one fears that, as Truman Capote once said, That’s not writing, that’s typing.  Once again, one being me.

Another Late Lame Post

Can I make a Lame Post Friday post today?  I feel it is not likely.  I have been indulging in Friday Happy Hour and am now looking at some cheesy movies on DVD.

He looks a little scary.

I add a picture from a cheesy movie I am viewing: The Brain that Woudn’t Die.  The monster shown here took me a few tries to show in an illustration.  This is what I get for  going on WordPress after being on regular internet.

That was as far as I got last night before I gave it up as a bad job. It is rather odd-looking here, too. My italics don’t appear as italics, but is on either side of what I italicized. And my pictures show as a looong string of gibberish. Now I am having difficulties getting my fingers to hit the right keys, and I assure I am quite sober at this hour of the morning (about 8:30).

I insert another cheesy movie picture, just for good measure.

In case anybody is concerned (or inclined to judge) I did not drive to Happy Hour last night. I walked, taking a longish walk before stopping to indulge. I think today I will try the walk without the indulgence.
In the meantime, I am just getting to 200 words, so I will abandon this forlorn attempt at a blog post. Perhaps I could have a Mohawk Valley Adventure today and write a real blog post about it.

Fairly Entertained by Autocorrect

Late posts. It was a thing before and it is a thing now. Here I am Wednesday morning making my Tired Tuesday post. In fact, I am still a little tired from Tuesday, because my coffee is still brewing (just to show how tired I am: I typed “viewing” for “brewing”) (but I think my coffee is done now).

Random picture to denote passage of time while I get coffee.

Ah, coffee.  Even one sip makes me feel better.  I just occurred to me:  I may not have typed “viewing”  I could have mistyped “brewing” and autocorrect “fixed” it for me.  Autocorrect is weird.  Sometimes it changes what I type to what it thinks I mean, and sometimes it just underlines it in red. Right now “mistyped” and “autcorrect” are underlined (“autocorrect” is underlined now four times, once with a capital A) (I add in the interests of accuracy).  Autocorrect is starting to look wrong, but I do not know how else to spell it. “Mistyped” I am comfortable with.

I think the random picture was prescient, because this certainly seems like the wrong way to make a blog post.  But some people might get a chuckle out of it.  As I like to say, it isn’t easy being me, but it is fairly entertaining.

My outsides aren’t doing too well, either.

I add another picture for further entertainment purposes and adjourn for more coffee. Happy Tuesday/Wednesday everyone!

Pop Fly to Lame Field!

I have been sitting here trying to think of something to type for a blog post.  A baseball game is on the television.  I don’t follow sports, but I do enjoy to see a game.  Live is more fun, but sometimes television will do.

“OOOPER DOOPER!”

I turned to my Media Library for inspiration and found this picture from Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein, one of my all-time favorite movies.  Earlier today I had “Puttin’ on the Ritz” playing in my head, especially the version shown in this movie.  I considered posting as my Facebook status, “OOOPER DOOPER!”  but forgot till just now.  Anyways, I have not spent much time on Facebook today.

An excellent theatre memory.

Another memory that popped into my head today was Splitting Issues, which was presented by Ilion Little Theatre in 2015 (I think). It is a series of short scenes having to do with relationships between the sexes.  I was not going to audition but went with Steve, my late dearly missed husband, who did want to audition.  I read a scene with him, just for fun, and, well, these things happen in community theatre.  We had a great time with our little scene.

I just realized my headline is about baseball, but I barely mentioned the game in the first paragraph.  I do not think I have any baseball pictures in my Media Library.  Oh dear.

Also blog posts.

Oh well, it is Lame Post Friday.  Will I have a better blog post on Saturday?  No promises, but I hope you’ll tune in.

Good Wine, Late Post

This post is in my drafts twice.  Twice I started to write it then stopped, because I could not find the wine tasting notes I took while I sipped.  This morning (early Wednesday to make Tuesday’s post), I said, oh, just go ahead and write the post.  Before I typed that last sentence, I thought hmmm… and looked into the notebook at my side (I actually got up early to write something entirely different, which I did, using other notes in that notebook) (I add in the interests of accuracy). Guess what I found!

I just found out today was Red Wine Day, so I poured myself a glass (I wrote in the earlier draft;  it is not Red Wine Day and I am certainly not drinking wine at 4:34 in the morning).  What a perfect time to talk about my visit to the Wine Tasting Room at Raindrops on Roses Bed and Breakfast in Herkimer, NY (really, it is often a good time to talk about wine and delightful B&Bs).

I toasted the day.

Instead of tasting, I opted for a flight, which was four glasses, each more than a taste but less than a full glass.  I could have just gotten a glass of one wine, or even a whole bottle.  A whole bottle seemed a bit much.  I was walking not driving, but still.

OK, that was all I had in the draft.  Now, from the tasting notes…

Picture of the garden at Raindrops on Roses to depict passage of time while I get more coffee.

I found a shady spot in the garden in back of the house and commenced sipping and note taking, two of my favorite activities.  The breeze was delightful and the surroundings beautiful.  The Prospect Falls Gewurztraminer (I am better at pronouncing it than spelling it) was nice, with what I call a New Yorky taste, which is a quality I treasure in a wine. I felt like I could taste the skin of the grape, in a good way.  I pronounced it a fun wine.

Next I had the Montezuma Dry Riesling.  Very tasty, and dry enough for my tastes.  Prospect Falls Merlot was next, followed by the Roaring Falls Red of the same winery.  Alas, I did not enjoy the reds as much as the whites.  I am sure it was just me or the day, because I know I have purchased bottles of these same wines and enjoyed them very much.

It is a beautiful setting.

It was a lovely interlude on a Saturday afternoon.  Alas that it will soon be too cold to sit in the garden at Raindrops on Roses.  Still, I might get there for another glass or flight before the snow falls.  I will try to make the blog post about it sooner after the fact.
