What? No Sunday Swoon?

I am beginning to think I need a different feature to replace Wrist to Forehead Sunday.  Lately I do not possess the requisite oomph to swoon, dramatically posed with the back of one wrist to my forehead, on a handy chaise lounge or elsewhere.  I know some of you are asking, how much energy does it take to swoon?  Very little, I confess, for an ordinary swoon.  But for a Wrist to Forehead Sunday swoon, I need to be dramatic!  Surely you understand (it seemed a good moment to call you Shirley).

Now there is a dramatic swoon!

I throw in a picture from my Media Library to pep things up.  It is from Mad Love, a delightfully creepy movie.  I am ready to start watching Halloween movies.  I do not have Mad Love on DVD, but I think it is still on my DVR from when I recorded it off TCM.

This is me being dramatic.

Here is the picture I was looking for when I found that one of the swoon.  I am the one in blue, wrist to forehead, sobbing,  “Oh shame!  Oh degradation!”  It was in Dirty Work at the Crossroads, a,1890’s melodrama directed by my husband, Steven, at Ilion Little Theatre in 2013.  It was a fun scene to play, but it took a lot more energy than I seem to have these days.

So basically I need something for Sunday similar to Tired Tuesday, only I can’t think of anything alternative.  I do like alliteration.  Then I ask myself, what is my problem that I have to have so many days when I can’t seem to make a decent blog post.  What’s that all about, me?

In the meantime,  it seems I have blathered on for almost 300 words (isn’t “blathered” a word? my autocorrect wants to change it to “slathered”). I say that is not bad.  I’ll work on making a better blog post tomorrow.

Lame Post? Running Commentary? Non-Sequitur? Anyways, It’s Late But Here It Is!

Hello, and welcome to another late Lame Post Friday post (ooh, it is weird not to be ten-fingered typing and not have the predictive text thingy making suggestions). In my defense, and I suppose it is not much of one, I was cheering up my friend Kim, or she was cheering me up, I guess.  This involved sitting on my front porch, sipping wine, and having a lot of laughs. What would I do without my friends?  It does not bear thinking about.

Be that as it may, I am sitting at the dining-room-table-top (which used to be a laptop, as regular readers may recall), having my first cup of coffee of the day.  I have been up for almost two hours, so the coffee is extremely welcome.  I went running for just over three and a quarter miles in 44 minutes.  Yay, me!  Stretching with my recovery beverage of chocolate milk (yum!), a soapy shower (with hair wash!), and a search for something to wear (note to self: do laundry) took up the rest of my morning so far.

Just a quick note about the parenthetical comment about “hair wash” (does that make this Non-Sequitur Saturday?):  since my hair got so long, I do not shampoo it every day.  Some days I put on a shower cap and it makes my showers a whole lot quicker.  I suppose most readers are not interested in my follicular gyrations, so I’ll shut up now (but only about that).

One reason I wanted to go for my run early was to see the full harvest moon.  I love the moon!  Actually, any time of the month I enjoy to start my run in the dark and end it in the light, but the full moon was a definite added attraction.  I saw it from my upstairs hall window when I first got up and said, “Yes!”

As I ran toward German Street, I could just see it disappearing behind some trees.  Damn!  I ran down Germany, hoping for a break in the branches.  I ran faster than I normally would have, because I was afraid the moon was setting and I would miss it entirely.  On I went, catching flashes of it now and then.  Oh wait, that was a street light.  Damn!  Up the hill by Valley Health, would I have better luck in the suburbs?  That is what I call the residential area behind Valley Health, next to Herkimer College (formerly known as HCCC).

Into the suburbs I went.  Oh, there was the moon!  If I could just get to the end of the street I was on, I could see it beyond those trees.  Aaaand, it disappeared behind a house.  Stupid house!  I turned a corner and kept hoping.  I could almost see it as I approached what I thought was the end of a dead-end street, then discovered the street in fact turns into the parking lot of a church.  There was the moon!

Running into the parking lot, I could see the full moon in a break in the trees.  Beautiful!  I turned my head to keep seeing it, knowing that was not the brightest thing to do.  My knee still has a scar from when I was looking at somebody’s yard and tripped on the sidewalk (these things take a long time to heel when you are my age) (middle).  I looped around and admired the moon some more.  Luckily it was a smooth parking lot.

Well, look at me, approaching 600 words.  I guess my Lame Post Friday post morphed into a Running Commentary.  I don’t think there is anything wrong with that.  For one thing, I wanted to share my story about the moon.  I am off now to plan my Saturday of adventures.  I hope to make a blog post ab0ut it later.

The Blog That Wouldn’t Die?

Late posts, I just can’t seem to avoid them.  No discipline. No work ethic.  And very little brain.

My brain, unfortunately, would and apparently did.

This is not the image I just spent an embarrassingly long time searching my Media Library for (and I will end a sentence with a preposition if I want to).  I wanted The Brain from the Planet Arous.  I could so get into watching some cheesy horror movies today.  Then I could do a Sunday Cinema Post.

As for Saturday,  it was a lost cause.  I got my run in, I did a load of laundry (oh crap I just remembered I was going to do another one this morning), I spent a small amount of time chipping away at the vast mess I call home, I got together with my friend Kim for a little while.  I did not make it to the Mohawk American Legion to hear The Posers, as I had mentioned in my Lame Post Friday post (which regular readers may remember that I made on Saturday morning).  I did manage to have a pleasant evening with my husband, Steve.  So perhaps the day was not a total loss.

However, I fear my Saturday blog post is.  No matter.  I can only go on from here.  I will once again try for a better blog post next time.  And as always, thank you for tuning in.

Murder? Music? It’s a Friday Lame Post!

How do I not manage to make a Lame Post Friday post on Friday?  It’s a lame post,  how hard could it be?  Oh well, I was having a nice evening, sipping Barefoot Pinot Noir and watching true crime on cable television.  Yes, I am too lame to stream.  So twentieth century of me!

They are bad-ass and compassionate.

Part of the evening was spent looking at my new favorite thing, Reasonable Doubt on ID on DVR (I am at least technologically adept for that).  Actually, it was my new favorite thing some months ago, but I have not had a new favorite thing in a while.  I need some new favorite things in my life.

Speaking of favorite things,  my husband, Steve, and I may be heading to the Mohawk, NY American Legion tonight to hear The Posers, our favorite local band (preview of coming attractions).  I heard too late last night that another good local band, the Playin’ Again Trio, was at Fratello’ Pizzeria in Frankfort.  Then again, we had such a pleasant evening at home, I do not regret it too much.  We missed hearing another favorite,  Phil Arcuri, on Wednesday, because Steven was not feeling well.  And that is my local music plug for the post.

So I guess this is my Lame Post Friday post, made on Saturday morning,  but who’s counting?  Oh, YOU probably are (you know who you are).  As always, thank you for tuning in.

Never Mind Lame, How About Love?

Yes, I was lame enough to miss my Lame Post Friday post (and my predictive text thingy is really falling down on the job; it used to always jump right in with “Post Friday post” when I typed in “Lame”) (pecked in one letter at a time with the stylus, I like to add).

Where was I?  Ah yes, posting late and lame, neither of which is an unusual situation for me.  Yesterday morning I made Thursday’s post with no apology for its being late.  Full disclosure: at first I typed in a couple of sentences about it but deleted them.  I did not want to distract from the post, which I thought was a good, non-lame one, plugging both a local business and my upcoming Shakespeare play (alas, I did not get a lot of blogger love, but you’ll have that).

I love our cast.

Since I mentioned our Shakespeare play, I thought I’ve throw in another rehearsal shot.  It took me a little time to be sure I wasn’t uploading the same picture twice.  Now that I have more storage space in my Media Library, I am careful of preserving it.

I will just mention that this blog may become All Love’s Labour’s Lost All The Time.  One week from today is Opening Afternoon!  Hmm, that does not have the same ring to it as Opening Night.  Never mind.  It will be fun.

Once again, Love’s Labour’s Lost, will be presented by LiFT, Little Falls Theatre Company at Benton’s Landing in Little Falls, NY, August 13 and 14 at 1 p.m., part of Little Falls Canal Celebration. Free admission! I hope to see you there!

In My Defense, I Had Rehearsal

Oh dear. No Pre-Rehearsal Post, no Post-Rehearsal Post, it was indeed a Tired Tuesday yesterday.  Now I have a very few minutes Wednesday morning to make some semblance of a blog post (that really should be a category: Some Semblance of a Blog Post. Thoughts?).  Under the heading waste not, want not, I append what I started to post on Sunday before I roused myself to (slightly) greater effort.

I am lounged on my couch, Tablet on lap, pecking in on letter at a time with the stylus, and trying to rouse myself to make some effort.  I confess to feeling quite disinclined to do any such thing.  Where do other people come up with their ambition?  Oh, I know, motivation follows action; just start doing something and you will find yourself doing more.

I thought, “This is nothing new!  It is whiny and boring!”  Yet I saved it, giving it the title “This sucks” just as something different from “untitled.”  When I started to make this post, I remembered its existence, wondered if it was not perhaps a little less contemptible than I first deemed it, so checked it out.  Yes, it is pretty contemptible, and I suppose so am I.  At least I often feel that way.

However, I see I have babbled myself over 200 words.  And I still have time to look over my lines before work.  We have rehearsal again tonight, you know.  Will I manage a Pre- or Post-Rehearsal Post?  We shall see!  In the meantime, I thank you for tuning in and leave you with a fun rehearsal picture, to pep up this silly post at least a little.

I love this shot! I couldn’t have gotten it on purpose if I had tried.

I Feel Beastly

The beauty part about getting up way early is that even when you oversleep, you still have time to do a few things.  The beast part is choosing which things to give up (see what I did there?).  So, no walk this morning, but I hope some semblance of a blog post.  Some would argue that the walk is more essential, but while there is a vague chance I will take a walk after work, if I blog after work (which indeed I hope to do), it will be Friday’s post, not a late Thursday post.

So much for an introduction to a Non-Sequitur Thursday Post.  I am sitting at my laptop (dining-room-table-top, as regular readers may recall), ten-finger typing, sipping greatly appreciated coffee

And that was when I said, “Oh crap, I didn’t plug in my phone,” followed by “Oh crap, where did I put my phone?”  I retraced my steps (how many steps could I have taken; I just got up!).  Luckily my phone, unlike my Tablet, retains its original charging chord so will easily reach 100 percent by the time I go to work.  I only hope I remember to put it in my backpack, which, as anybodywho knows me will readily believe, is not a given.

As you may have guessed by now, I got nuthin’.  What a surprise.  I think I will throw in a picture to pep things up, slap on a catchy title, hit Publish, and drive on.  I hope to see you all later on Lame Post Friday (thank God I made it to Friday!).

I admit I have had catchier titles.

May be an image of one or more people and text that says 'Smile it's...FRIDAY FRIDAY'

Oops, I put a Friday meme on a Thursday post.

Not Late, But a Little Lame

Oh no! I forgot to make my Lame Post Friday post!   Full disclosure:  I have been drinking a little wine.  Judge me if you will; it is Friday night and I do not work on Saturday.  My conscience is clear.  However, I would like to come up with something at least mildly entertaining to post, preferably of the random observation or half-baked philosophy variety.  Let us put it to the test.

I observed a cardinal on a wire near our front porch.  I would have missed him, but my husband, Steven drew my attention to him. I knew it was a him by his bright red color.  I have seen a female cardinal, his mate perhaps, a few times previously.  I hope they stick around. I like the idea of having cardinals in the neighborhood, partially because of the superstition that when you see a cardinal it means a departed loved one is checking in with you. Also, they are beautiful birds.  I have yet to move my phone or Tablet quickly enough to get a picture.

Does that bit about a departed loved one visiting count as half-baked philosophy? I do not have a whole lot else to offer.  But I see I am just at 200 words.  If only I could think of a fun headline, I would be reasonably content. Under the heading It Takes So Little To Please Some People.

Is It Magic? Or Just Lame?

Three late posts in a row. I wonder what my record is. It would be far too much trouble to check. I can’t be bothered about these things. I am lounged on the couch, pecking in one letter at a time with the stylus on my Tablet, just to give you a picture. I just took a 2-mile walk, and I am contemplating my upcoming day. So much I need to do, so much I want to do, but first, my Lame Post Friday post.

I have very little in the way of brain power this morning (cue jokes about how that is always the case) (but, really, aren’t those jokes a little too easy and obvious and just a trifle beneath you?) (you know who you are). But I have been doing pretty well at posting every day (or do I mean pretty good? How mortifying not to know!) and wish to continue.

That brings up something I have been wondering about myself. I think it was about a week before Memorial Day when I re-started daily blog posts. I am pretty sure it was the Tuesday after Memorial Day weekend that I started my daily walks. I remember this, because I had been thinking about walking before work for a while but not done it. The Saturday of that weekend was when I did whatever I did and had to stop running for a while. So I started walking.

OK, that whole paragraph is not what I’ve been wondering. I have been wondering: What do I think is going to happen? Something magic? Is this going to make my life better? Is it going to make me better? Is it even going to help?

I put it under the heading, Couldn’t Hurt, Might Help. Sometimes that is the best we can hope for.

Still, I would like it if something magic would happen. I suppose it needs more than a daily walk and a daily blog. Any suggestions?

25-Inch Lame

Can I make my Lame Post Friday post on Friday? I intend to try. But first, can I just point out that my Tablet’s predictive text thingy is very inconsistent? It used to be, when I typed in “Lame,” “Post Friday post” was automatically suggested. Tonight it was not. Then again, “used to be” is a pretty useless thing to say. When somebody else says it, I usually say, “I used to have a 25-inch waistline. Things change!”

Incidentally, it is true that I once had such a small waistline. I do not expect to have one ever again, which will be all right with me. I have other things to worry about.

My waistline was never this small.

I thought I would throw in a picture to pep up the post. This is our skeleton Bonita and her friend Bonaparte. She is dressed n her last year’s summer outfit. She has not dressed for summer yet. Maybe this weekend…

One of my many summer outfits.

I share this picture to show me in the same headband as Bonita’s, not to emphasize my lack of 25-inch waist. I am at Fratello’s Pizzeria in Frankfort, NY, I add in order to give a brief shout-out to a local business.

I see I am over 200 words. Yay! I’m going to call it a blog post and go back to enjoying my Friday.
