I Didnt Miss My Saturday Run

You have to have the crap runs to get to the good ones.  That is what I tell myself, at any rate.  Well, it stands to reason.  If I stopped running just because it didn’t feel terrific, I would not run very far very often.  Sometimes it feels better as I go.  Sometimes it feels better by the third or fourth day in a row.  Sometimes it feels really, really good when I am taking my cool down walk.

Where was I going with this?  Ah yes, trying to make my Saturday Running Commentary Post on Sunday morning.  I got lazy as the day went on yesterday and did not make my blog post.  It was remiss of me.  In my defense, I ran, did some laundry, cleaned parts of my house, and walked for about an hour, all in the sweltering heat and humidity. Oh, stop playing that miniature violin! I wasn’t whining, I was trying to make myself feel better for not posting!  It didn’t work.

But I digress.  The point is, I am running again, after two months off (at least I walked, and felt pretty good about that, but I think we’ve been over this). I ran last Sunday, Tuesday, and Friday, then yesterday and today. I walked Monday before work.  I am still waiting for it to feel terrific, but I have had moments of it feeling not too bad.  Sometimes you have to take what you can get.

On the weekday runs, after work, I haven’t asked more than 15 minutes of myself.  I met the goal Tuesday and exceeded it Friday (not by much, but still).  For the weekends, I thought to start with 20 minutes and exceeded that, too.  I went a little further this weekend than last, so I am reasonably content with my progress.

Are there any community runs in my future?  I hope so but have as yet not looked too far ahead.  At least this gives me something else to blog about.  Ooh, look: I AM over 300 words, and it wasn’t about Love’s Labour’s Lost!  As always, thank you for tuning in.

Never Mind Lame, How About Love?

Yes, I was lame enough to miss my Lame Post Friday post (and my predictive text thingy is really falling down on the job; it used to always jump right in with “Post Friday post” when I typed in “Lame”) (pecked in one letter at a time with the stylus, I like to add).

Where was I?  Ah yes, posting late and lame, neither of which is an unusual situation for me.  Yesterday morning I made Thursday’s post with no apology for its being late.  Full disclosure: at first I typed in a couple of sentences about it but deleted them.  I did not want to distract from the post, which I thought was a good, non-lame one, plugging both a local business and my upcoming Shakespeare play (alas, I did not get a lot of blogger love, but you’ll have that).

I love our cast.

Since I mentioned our Shakespeare play, I thought I’ve throw in another rehearsal shot.  It took me a little time to be sure I wasn’t uploading the same picture twice.  Now that I have more storage space in my Media Library, I am careful of preserving it.

I will just mention that this blog may become All Love’s Labour’s Lost All The Time.  One week from today is Opening Afternoon!  Hmm, that does not have the same ring to it as Opening Night.  Never mind.  It will be fun.

Once again, Love’s Labour’s Lost, will be presented by LiFT, Little Falls Theatre Company at Benton’s Landing in Little Falls, NY, August 13 and 14 at 1 p.m., part of Little Falls Canal Celebration. Free admission! I hope to see you there!

What Post? How About Some Pics?

What a surprise, that I should wuss out on Wuss-out Wednesday, especially when I had rehearsal (my autocorrect keeps wanting to capitalize “rehearsal” just because I had caps lock on in a recent message I sent) (in my defense, I felt strongly about it) (and lowercase “rehearsal” is getting underlined).

Enough with the parenthetical comments, on with the post!  I shall share a few more rehearsal shots.  I took a bunch to submit with my article for Mohawk Valley Living magazine, and they only used one.  They printed the article, yay!  If you want to pick up a copy and read it, which I encourage you to do,  it is available at Stewart’s shops and advertisers’ locations.

They are not playing jump rope.

This is a very funny scene, among many.  I feel I don’t flatter myself,  because I am not in it and so have perspective.

“He speaks the mere contrary!”

It is a little difficult, looking between my Media Library and device, trying not to upload the same picture  twice.  Wow, it is true what my co-workers say: I AM always whining!

I picked one with more people in it.

This is another of my favorite scenes.  Full disclosure:  hey are almost all my favorite scenes.

Local readers, I cordially invite you to come see Love’s Labour’s Lost, presented by LiFT, Little Falls Theatre Company, 1 p.m., Saturday and Sunday,  Aug. 13 and 14, 2022, at Benton’s Landing, Little Falls NY.  It is part of the Canal Celebration festivities, and it is FREE!

PS.  Autocorrect wants to call it “Benson’s Landing.”  Wasn’t he on a TV show in the ’70’s?

In My Defense, I Had Rehearsal

Oh dear. No Pre-Rehearsal Post, no Post-Rehearsal Post, it was indeed a Tired Tuesday yesterday.  Now I have a very few minutes Wednesday morning to make some semblance of a blog post (that really should be a category: Some Semblance of a Blog Post. Thoughts?).  Under the heading waste not, want not, I append what I started to post on Sunday before I roused myself to (slightly) greater effort.

I am lounged on my couch, Tablet on lap, pecking in on letter at a time with the stylus, and trying to rouse myself to make some effort.  I confess to feeling quite disinclined to do any such thing.  Where do other people come up with their ambition?  Oh, I know, motivation follows action; just start doing something and you will find yourself doing more.

I thought, “This is nothing new!  It is whiny and boring!”  Yet I saved it, giving it the title “This sucks” just as something different from “untitled.”  When I started to make this post, I remembered its existence, wondered if it was not perhaps a little less contemptible than I first deemed it, so checked it out.  Yes, it is pretty contemptible, and I suppose so am I.  At least I often feel that way.

However, I see I have babbled myself over 200 words.  And I still have time to look over my lines before work.  We have rehearsal again tonight, you know.  Will I manage a Pre- or Post-Rehearsal Post?  We shall see!  In the meantime, I thank you for tuning in and leave you with a fun rehearsal picture, to pep up this silly post at least a little.

I love this shot! I couldn’t have gotten it on purpose if I had tried.

I Feel Beastly

The beauty part about getting up way early is that even when you oversleep, you still have time to do a few things.  The beast part is choosing which things to give up (see what I did there?).  So, no walk this morning, but I hope some semblance of a blog post.  Some would argue that the walk is more essential, but while there is a vague chance I will take a walk after work, if I blog after work (which indeed I hope to do), it will be Friday’s post, not a late Thursday post.

So much for an introduction to a Non-Sequitur Thursday Post.  I am sitting at my laptop (dining-room-table-top, as regular readers may recall), ten-finger typing, sipping greatly appreciated coffee

And that was when I said, “Oh crap, I didn’t plug in my phone,” followed by “Oh crap, where did I put my phone?”  I retraced my steps (how many steps could I have taken; I just got up!).  Luckily my phone, unlike my Tablet, retains its original charging chord so will easily reach 100 percent by the time I go to work.  I only hope I remember to put it in my backpack, which, as anybodywho knows me will readily believe, is not a given.

As you may have guessed by now, I got nuthin’.  What a surprise.  I think I will throw in a picture to pep things up, slap on a catchy title, hit Publish, and drive on.  I hope to see you all later on Lame Post Friday (thank God I made it to Friday!).

I admit I have had catchier titles.

May be an image of one or more people and text that says 'Smile it's...FRIDAY FRIDAY'

Oops, I put a Friday meme on a Thursday post.

Wuss-out? Wayback? It’s Not Even Wednesday!

Yesterday was indeed a Wuss-out Wednesday.  I not only did not make my blog post, I did not do a whole lot else.  I went to work, I went to rehearsal for Love’s Labour’s Lost (perhaps you read some of my blog posts about the play I am in).  Oh, and I made Tuesday’s blog post before work (that was one of the posts about the play referred to in the earlier parenthetical comment).  I sat on the porch with my husband and enjoyed the evening, before and after rehearsal.  I consider that an important thing to do, even though it is not what one might call productive.

Never mind all that.  It is time to make another Some Post, Any Post (is that a category?  Perhaps it should be).  How about some Mid-Week Monsters (oh why isn’t it Friday, I lament).

Isn’t she sweet?

I combine Wuus-Out with Wayback by sharing a picture from 2016. OK, not very way back.  We got this lovely witch at Pumpkin Junction in Sauquoit, NY, one of your favorite places to go in October.  Full disclosure: this witch is still on our porch from last Halloween.  We dressed her as an angel at Christmas time.  Alas, we did not take a picture of that.

A good place to obtain monsters and other Halloween stuff.

Here is a picture of the main building of Pumpkin Junction.  They are only open in the fall. I will no doubt make at least one blog post about them at the time (preview of coming attractions).

I see I have somehow gotten over 250 words.  Score!  I need to go eat breakfast and fix my lunch.  Happy Wednesday/Thursday, everyone!

I Doodah Didn’t Make a Post

Oh DEAR!  Look how late I am making my Lame Post Friday post!   How did it get to be ten o’clock on a Saturday!  I know, the usual way.

In my defense, last night I participated in the Doodah Parade, part of the Ilion Days festivities.  I rode on the float for Ilion Little Theatre.  It was a fun time, but hot and tiring.  Just imagine if I would have walked!

I couldn’t decide which photo to use so include both.  These are this year’s participants of YAW, Young Actors Workshop.  For more information on that, you can go to It’s Facebook page or website, http://www.ilionlittletheatre.org.

I did not take a picture of me in my silly outfit.  Everybody else was in Western wear, because the theme of the parade was Doodah Rides Again.  I do not own anything appropriate except for a pair of cowboy boots my sister Vicki gave me.  It was so hot, I considered wearing the boots and nothing else, but, you know, sunburn.  Then my friend Kim (who originally wanted to go as Lady Godiva) pointed out that witches ride brooms.  I threw together an outfit that did not include black. I really should have taken a picture.

So we’ll call this a Post About Why I Didn’t Make a Post Yesterday, and I will attempt to make my Saturday post while it is still Saturday.  But no promises.

Use this later

Alas, I am back to my bad habit of making a late blog post.  In fact, I am skeptical of my ability to make a post now.  We are having a heat wave, and I do not like it!  I went for my walk, which I missed yesterday, and it is quite muggy out.  The birds were not singing.  They weren’t singing Tuesday either, and I do not remember Monday.  Oh dear, I am getting all bogged down in my petty complaints and whining when I set out to plug a local business and musician.  Get your act together, Cindy!

That is what I typed in this morning.  Then I got my act together at least enough to make a post about Phil Arcuri at Fratello’s.  However, mindful of the phrase Waste Not Want Not, I saved the whiny paragraph, labeling it “Use this later.”  I think I will keep that as my heading and bill this as a Non-Sequitur Thursday post.

It is a fairly silly post, too, because the first thing I say is I am posting late, and here I am, fanatically pecking at the Tablet with my stylus hoping to make my Thursday post on Thursday.  But when have I ever worried about making a silly post?

I thought I looked pretty.

I looked in my Media Library for a silly picture and found this.  I believe I was dressed for a murder mystery.  I must play with the curling iron again sometime.

Walk, Check. Blog Post, Check.

OK, it may be late blog posts all week, because here I am Wednesday morning making my Tired Tuesday post.  For anybody who read Monday’s post (made on Tuesday morning, of course) and was wondering: I did feel better as the day went on.  I went to rehearsal for Love’s Labour’s Lost (just to plug my upcoming play again) and did not do too badly (or perhaps I flatter myself).

I thought this morning instead of making another post lamenting my inability to make good posts on time (just ignore the preceding paragraph), I would attempt a Pedestrian Post.   This was one motivation to get me out the door and walking when the devil on one shoulder said, “Don’t walk today. You have to make a blog post and fix your lunch.”  I still don’t know what I’m going to bring for my lunch, but I will worry about that later.

I thought of using Map My Run on my phone to track my walk, because I was worried my Garmin would not have enough charge, but Garmin at least had a couple of bars.  That was good, since I intended to do a short-ish trek that I have mapped before.  It looks like Popeye’s arm.  I know this, because I usually share Map My Run on Facebook, for the entertainment of my friends.  Some of them like to say what the shape looks like.  Sometimes I tell them what it means about them psychologically or predicts for their future, adding the caveat that it is for entertainment purposes only.  Not that anybody takes anything I say seriously, but you never know.

The Garmin always says Wait when I hit Walk, but I don’t always do it.  Today I did not.  It seems to track the walk or run the same either way.  I headed towards German Street and turned left.  I had a bottle of water.  My intention was to drink it as I walked and refill it at the spring on Lou Ambers Drive.  This is what I have been doing on most of my walks, although it cuts down on the variety of my paths.  However, since I seem to be in a dehydrated state most of the time these days, I continue to do it.

The birds were singing loudly.  I do like to hear that. I noted with gratitude every light in someone’s window.  I especially like the ones that look like flickering candles.  I also like to see the ones where it seems somebody is up and about, not just leaving a light on for security or other reasons (I don’t purport to know people’s reasons for doing things).  It is nice to think I am not the only one out of bed prior to 5 a.m.  Obviously I am not, as the occasional car drives by.

I turned up Maple Grove, so I could go up a little hill then across I think it’s Johnson and come down Lou Ambers to the spring.  As I turned down Lou Ambers, I saw a couple on the opposite side of the street walking a dog.  I thought to myself, “Left side, facing traffic!”  That is what I was taught in kindergarten, but it seems others were not or perhaps did not internalize the lesson.  Or maybe they are being rebels.  Again, I do not purport to know others’ reasons.  I did not catch up to them so could not ask to pet the dog.  That is all I would have asked them.  I think people might get defensive if I asked them why they were not walking the way I was taught to in kindergarten.

I ended up walking a mile and a third in about 27 minutes.  I thought vaguely as I turned up my driveway about continuing for another three minutes to make a half hour but was disinclined to do so.  For one reason, I had a blog post to make.  And I see I have made it to the tune of over 650 words.  Wow!  I haven’t blathered on that much for a long time!  If you have read till the end, I thank you.

I Still Feel Monstrous

Monday was a true Blogger’ Sick Day. I will spare you the sordid details, but I left work early and spent most of the rest of the afternoon and evening in bed. I do not feel a whole lot better today, but a cup of hot tea seems to be helping. I will feel better mentally if I manage to make some semblance of blog post.

I went for a shortened walk this morning. I thought the fresh air would do me good, but the humidity rendered the air heavy. It also started to rain. That was all right with me. I needed the extra time to send a couple of emails, make this blog post, and fix today’s lunch (I’m going to make things easy on myself there and bring one of those instant soup cups). The emails have been sent, and now I must think of something at least mildly entertaining to type (I am on the laptop, using all ten fingers, yes!).

Guess which one I feel like today.

Since I missed my Monstrous Monday post, I took a chance and checked my Media Library for a monster picture to share. Sunday when I was looking for pictures for a Sunday Cinema post, I seemed to be missing a number of photos I remember using before, so I was worried some monsters would be missing as well. I am delighted to find my favorite, Nosferatu.

Not exactly a monster, but pretty monstrous.

Well, now what have I done? I can’t get out of the caption mode and back into the blog!
I’m sure it must be Operator Error, the story of my life, but I cannot deal with it right now. Hell, I’m over 250 words on a late blogger’s sick day. I’m going to call it a post.
