Who Doesn’t Love a Blood-Sucking Fiend?

I may have mentioned that all I require of myself on a Monday is that I get through the day.  Last Monday I had a bit of a problem even doing that much, leaving work early and taking a Blogger’s Sick Day.  This week I made it through my full shift.  I spent much of the day, when I could spare a thought from my tasks, reiterating to myself all the things I intended to get done after work.

It should come as a surprise to no one, least of all me, that when the end of the day was near, I was saying to myself, “I can’t do any of those things!”  I said it in a whiny tone of voice.  However, after I got home I did manage to do a few things.  I would list them, but I am afraid it is a very unimpressive list.  I would rather share pictures of monsters instead.

It says “No Smoking,” but he is smokin’ hot.

Here is a fellow I have not shared in a while, Blacula.  I only saw that movie once, DVR’d off TCM.  I would like to get it on DVD, for my collection.

He is creepy, yes!

I guess I could make it an all-vampire post.  Who doesn’t live a blood-sucking fiend?   Here is my favorite guy, Nosferatu.  I would not describe him as hot, but I love him.

Dude! Use a napkin!

And here is Christopher Lee, another notable wearer of the cape and fangs.  I should probably try to find a picture of Bela Lugosi before I sign off.

Those eyes!

I know what some of you are thinking:  What about The Lost Boys?  Kiefer Sutherland may never forgive me.  Will my readers? I can only hope.

Monster Movies, As I Swoon on Sunday

It is assuredly Wrist to Forehead Sunday, as anybody who read my late Saturday blog post will readily understand.  I have not been behaving myself as befits a woman of my age.  I do not mean with dignity and decorum; those are obviously past hoping for.  I mean with a basic respect for my declining physical capacities.  Come to think about it, my physical capacities have never been all that impressive.  Still, one does what one can.

Only I don’t have the Blu-Ray.

I throw in a picture to pep things up, before I get too bogged down in my petty physical complaints.  I did not get to the movie watching portion of my Sunday till later in the afternoon.  It coincided with the dinner fixing portion of the day, but I am not sure what I fixed was worthy of a cooking post.

One of the classics.

I actually do not think this shot is from the James Whale directed Frankenstein,  which I watched next.  However, it is too much trouble to keep searching my Media Library for a picture.  My readers know who I mean, I am sure.

So pretty!

This, of course, is Elsa Lanchester in The Bride of Frankenstein, which I am watching now.  I am pleased that all three DVDs I have watched started right up, because I don’t see any of my remotes.  No doubt they are not far, but I am grateful for any little advantage on Wrist to Forehead Sunday.

My only problem now is, will I dare make a Monstrous Monday Post tomorrow?  I shan’t worry about it now.  I hope you are all having a delightful Sunday evening.

Terrified of Tired Tuesday?

I’m afraid this is another Tired Tuesday Post, but since I did not have a Monstrous Monday this Monday or last, I thought a couple beasts might brighten up the blog.

Eeeee! Call the exterminator!

Many people have a fear or at least a squeamishness regarding bugs.  These are fake, of course.  I believe they were props for Donate to Murder, a mystery of mine which featured the memorable character, Renwick Spaulding, lover of bugs.

A little bigger than a bug.

And here is Bruce, the shark from JAWS, a favorite summer flick of mine.  I have not watched it yet this summer.  It was one my husband Steve and I always watched together, often on the Fourth of July, a date which was featured prominently in the movie.

And speaking of going swimming…

Here is a good one:  The Creature from the Black Lagoon with the lovely Julie Adams.  I understand she was as lovely in character as she was in looks.  That is always nice to hear.

I shall just mention that one reason I am so tired is that two days in a row, I fought the lawn, and the lawn won.  I keep telling myself that the lawn may win the battles but I shall win the war.  I hope to share pictures when I do.

In the meantime, I have gotten over 200 words.  That is sufficient, according to my rules for me by me.  Since I included monsters, perhaps I should add a category of Terror Tuesday.  Hmmm.  It may be a little strong, but at least it is alliterative.  Oh wait! I see I already have a category of Terrifying Tuesday.  Shows how much I pay attention.

Another Glass of Lame?

I was going to put off making my Lame Post Friday post till Saturday morning but decided to pour myself another glass of Sauvignon Blanc and do it now.  What are you shaking your head at (or your finger or your booty) (you know how you are)?  It is only my second glass of wine.  And it is Friday night!

I am kind of sort of watching The Ape Man with Bela Lugosi.  I found a DVD set I had forgotten I had:  The Best of the Worst.  I already watched Manos the Hands of Fate and Track of the Moon Beast, both of which have been featured on Mystery Science Theatre 3000.  Again, kind of, sort of (the me watching part, not the MST3K featuring part).  I have been looking at Facebook or doing puzzles in a puzzle book.  I need a new puzzle book, by the way.

My current viewing pleasure.

This is not the best picture.  Then again, some of the movies are not the best prints.  I love buying these collections for cheap.  Sometimes I get the same movie two or three times, but that is OK with me.  The Brain That Wouldn’t Die, The Terror, and others bear multiple viewings.

For the record, I have not been completely useless tonight.  I finished two articles for Mohawk Valley Living magazine and got them emailed out.  I hope they like at least one of them.

I see I am over 200 words.  Time to stop babbling on and pay more attention to what is happening to Bela.  Happy Friday, everyone!

What Could Be Better Than Monsters?

So my goals were to find something to enjoy on Monday and to make a better blog post, but I think we all knew I was more likely to revert to Monstrous Monday.  My day at work was not bad at all.  My worst moment was getting myself out of bed.  Oh, did I want to sleep in!  But coffee worked its magic, and my day improved from there.

This is how cheerful I am after coffee.

After work things got a little dicey as I struggled with my checkbook and fretted over bills.  I did not go running as I had intended, and I almost forgot to take out the trash.  However, I had walked for 30 minutes this morning, and the trash and recyclables are now waiting by the curb.  Additionally, the dishes are washed, and tomorrow’s lunch is packed.

The happy smile I get after doing a few chores.

I seem to always be listing every little thing I get done, either in this blog, in one of my journals, or just in my head.  It is to keep from beating myself up over all the things that I have left undone.  For heavens’ sakes, I can’t do everything!  Or so I comfort myselg

Maybe if I had three friends behind me and a pitchfork!

I guess this last picture doesn’t show a monster, but it is from a pretty scary movie, Invasion of the Body Snatchers.   As messed up as my life can be, I would not want some pod growing into a duplicate of me and taking over my body.  Now that I think about it, that movie is also pretty sad.  All the characters I like turn into beings with no warmth or feelings.

On that rather melancholy note,  I see I am approaching 300 words.  Perhaps it is not a better blog post, but at least I tried.

Dracula, Joan, It’s Lame Post Friday!

I was thinking about making my Lame Post Friday post late once again, but I decided not to be so lame as all that. Earlier  I thought I would have a lazy, relaxed Friday night, so I am lounged on the couch in pajama pants, sipping Sauvignon Blanc and looking at movies.  I just watched Taste the Blood of Dracula then put in Sudden Fear.  Christopher Lee to Joan Crawford.  Why not?

Dracula likes Friday.

I have been watching too many DVDs since I got rid of cable.  Of course I have a somewhat extensive collection, mostly curated by my late, beloved husband Steve.  My problem is, I have to be in the mood for a particular movie, and I seem to have watched all the movies I am currently in the mood for.  I wish I could change moods as easily as I change DVDs.

There’s the right picture for the movie I watched.

Maybe I should stop being in the mood to watch a movie and try to get in the mood to clean this house.  I know, I need to clean my house regardless of mood.  I’ll work on that tomorrow.

Two of the people in this picture are up to no good.

I like this movie, Sudden Fear, but it starts so slowly.  I figured that was all right, because I intended to make my blog post while I watched.  Unfortunately it took me so long to find the pictures I wanted, the movie has started to heat up.  No matter.  I’ve seen it before.

So this is my Friday night.  I am enjoying it and hope you are enjoying yours.

Tormented Tired Tuesday

I have been watching nothing but DVDs since I got rid of cable.  I have watched my way through the entire series of Columbo and most of 50 Horror Classics.  I skipped the silent ones and a few I have seen many times as well as a couple I just didn’t like.  Right now I am casually looking at one I don’t know why I skipped:  Tormented.  I wrote a blog post about it once.

Scary!

I did not know how to share pictures when I wrote the post about the movie.  I loved doing write-ups of cheesy movies, but the posts never got a lot of Likes.  It was quite the disappointment for me.

As for today’s post, I ain’t got much.  I feel tired most of the time these days.  Perhaps I need to eat more vegetables.  I know I have a flea market and new theatre group to blog about, but I feel I need to write good posts about them, not tired posts.

So I guess I am tormented as well as tired, because I fear I am making bad blog posts.  I am not as tormented as the guy in this movie, though.  Quite frankly, he deserves it.  Do I?  I am not the best judge of these things.

That last paragraph veered a little into half-baked philosophy.   That is the purview of Lame Post Friday,  so we’ll have no more of that.

But it’s one day closer to Friday!

I have not used that one in a while.  Happy Tuesday, everyone!

I’m a Monster Before Coffee

I guess late posts are still a thing, because here I am on Tuesday morning, lounged on my couch, pecking in one letter at a time with the stylus on my Tablet.  When I went to bed last night, I had pictured myself sitting at the dining-room-table-top (previously a laptop, as regular readers may recall), ten-finger typing.  I felt too tired for such effort, and my coffeemaker was taking forever.  Now, however, I have had a few sips, so phew! I am a slave to the brew!

“It’s my coffee!” “No, it’s mine!”

It never fails.  I go searching Facebook for an image I have seen many times, and it is not to be found.  I am not adept at these things. I finally went to my Media Library and settled for Bela Lugosi fighting a beast in The Ape Man.  I believe I have seen that movie but cannot remember who wins the tussle.

On the cuter side…

I would like to say this is me after coffee, but no such luck.  I have my cute moments, but…

One of my favorites.

I am not currently drinking out of this mug, but wouldn’t it be cool if I was?   The mug was given to me by my late, much beloved husband, Steve.  We loved The Princess Bride.

And now I am over 200 words.  Score!  Time for another cup of coffee before work.

Monsters Before Bedtime

I am still tired.  All I can hear in my head is that parrot from Aladdin saying, “Why am I not surprised?  I’ll probably have a heart attack, fall over and die of NOT surprise!”  God bless Gilbert Gottfried.  Anyways, I was thinking I might attempt a Wayback Wednesday Post but then I thought, Mid-Week Monsters!  After all, I did not have a Monstrous Monday this week.

“Just a little off the top.”

This picture is appropriate, because I got my hair cut last week.   I could do a blog post about that, because I took a “before” picture (preview of coming attractions).

“Did you know there are no panes in this window?”

Nosferatu gives my blog post a look-in once again.  Regular readers know he is my favorite guy.

He’s just chillin’.

This is Claude Rains as The Invisible Man.  I always liked that monster, because he embraced his monstrosity.  No angst like Frankenstein’s monster, although I love most of the versions of Frankenstein I have seen.

“This is a good boy!”

Speaking of which, Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein is perhaps my favorite.  Of course Boris Karloff will always be THE monster in many mind’s, and I adore Karloff (just enjoyed watching him in The Terror ).  I think there is room for both in the monsterverse (I thought I just made up that word, but autocorrect let it stand, so I guess I flattered myself).

In any case, I am over 200 words.  Score!  I need to get some sleep.

Carnival of Tired Tuesday?

Tired Tuesday follows Monstrous Monday once again.  I meant to take a walk and do a Pedestrian Post,  but I just feel too tired.  Oh dear.  I did a few things earlier:  a little yard work, a little house cleaning, ran a couple errands, grocery shopped.  And somewhere in all that I took a nap.  You would think that would have helped, but not so much.

It’s a classic. Or a cult favorite. I get them mixed up.

I am looking at Carnival of Souls, a low budget but very effective horror movie.  I have it on two different DVD collections.  Right now I am watching the one from 50 Horror Classics.  I thought I would watch my way through all 50.  I still have not solved my television problem so am only watching DVDs these days.

I kind of feel like she looks.

I plan to do more than sit around and watch DVDs, of course.  I plan to run more, clean my house, and fix up my yard and garden.  Then I can write blog posts about doing those things.  If I’m not too tired.

Eeeeeerie!

In the meantime, I continue to watch Candace Hillligoss struggle with the strange things that keep happening to her.

Eeeee! Who is that man?

I’m afraid this is a very dull blog post.  I always say a bad blog post is better than no blog post at all, but I have to wonder.  As usual, I intend to hit Publish and hope for the best.  Also as usual, I shall go for a better blog post tomorrow.
