Tequila Blog Post

Technically, one is not supposed to plan to have a Non-Sequitur Thursday post.  One begins typing and ends up with one.  One being me, of course. I do not know of any other bloggers who have Non-Sequitur Thursday posts.  I made it up myself, but there are other things I made up that other people have thought of too.  For example, Tequila Mockingbird.  For a long time I tried to come up with a cocktail called a Tequila Mockingbird.  I wanted it to be dark in color and include tequila.  Finally I settled on black coffee and tequila.  I found it quite tasty.

Flash forward to 2025 and I am in a play called Four Old Broads on the High Seas at Players of Utica.  One of the characters is a drag performer whose lady name is Miss Tequila Mockingbird.  It is a great character, and the actor doing the part is having a great deal of fun with it.

Must get an un-blurry photo of Miss Tequila Mockingbird.

I actually have other pictures of Miss Tequila Mockingbird, but they are in  a smart phone I forgot to charge, and it takes a long time to get charged enough to use.  We’ll call it a preview of coming attractions.

Well that makes another shout-out to the play I am in at least.  Performance dates are July 25, 26, and 27 at 1108 State St., Utica, NY.  For more information call 315-724-7624.

Will I Have the Last Laugh?

I meant to make a post using more pictures taken on a recent walk, but those pictures are on my phone and here I am on my Tablet.  Still, the phone is on the coffee table.  I could pick it up and look…

Or not.  My only purpose now is to make a Post-Rehearsal Post.  And I might even eat an ice cream cone out of the freezer before I do so.

It is not actually chocolate running down this head.

I put in an unrelated picture to show the passage of time while I ate ice cream.  I do not remember if I actually used this picture to give a shout-out to Yettys Pizza and Pasta of Herkimer, NY.  I must look at my past posts and make sure I have done so.

Did somebody say murder mystery?

I scrolled through my Media Library till I found a picture of a murder mystery, because the rehearsal I was at was for a murder mystery: He Laughed Himself to Death.  It will be presented on Saturday, Nov. 5, at Herkimer Elks Lodge, to benefit Herkimer County Historical Society.

I just now copied this from Facebook.

Now I have given a proper shout-out to the murder mystery.   I am going to bill this as a Non-Sequitur Thursday Post,  because I have been a little all over the place.  If only I could think of a sufficiently random headline, my life would be perfect.

Rapunzel, I’m Not

Here is a good idea for a Non-Sequitur Thursday post:  a PRE-shout-out to a local business I am ABOUT to go to.  And I’d better hustle up, or I won’t have time to shower first.  Oh dear, do I even have time if I hustle?  Well, I’ll just start typing and see what I can do.

My hair has been growing at its usual annoying rate, that is, fast till it gets to where I can’t do anything with it and then stop.  I was undecided to cut or not, because I did not know what my director wanted for the play I’m in (remember? Morning’s at Seven at Ilion Little Theatre) (the murder mysteries don’t matter; I can make any number of ‘do’s work for them).  When the stage manager said she had a grey wig that would work for me, my first question was, “So it’s OK if I get my hair cut really short?”  It was.

Hence, I have an appointment with Clair, my usual stylist at The Hot Spot Salon and Spa in Herkimer.  I decided I might as well have a pedicure while I was at it, if the appointment time was available.  It was!  The appointment is for five tonight.  When I made the appointment, the lady making it said I would be out by about quarter after six.  Perfect for a six-thirty rehearsal in Ilion!  I hope.

Hmm… this is kind of a boring blog post.  It might have been more interesting if I had waited till after the appointment.  I could have included a picture of my toes, at least.  Well, I can’t help that.  I have a shower to take.  My appointment is for a cut without shampoo and blow-dry (I get a REAL low-care cut).  I still don’t know what I’m going to wear to rehearsal.  How flustered I get!

The Hot Spot Salon and Spa is located at 121 E. Albany St., Herkimer, NY, phone number 315-866-9113.  You can also Like them on Facebook.

Chardonnay on Lame Post Friday

OK, today is Lame Post Friday, and I am going to make a fast post, because my husband, Steven, has not been on the computer since this morning.  I can’t hog the laptop, after all.  So here is a quick shout-out to a few Herkimer, NY, businesses that made our Friday evening a little bit better.

First I went to Hot Spot Salon and Spa to get a hair cut.  I did not know quite what I wanted, but I wanted it to look good and I didn’t want to do to much myself to make it so.  Clair helped me out as always, and I left looking pretty damn good.

I went to Asteroga Ale House, where I got a glass of Chadornnay, sat down, and wrote on the next murder mystery till my husband, Steven, showed up.  I enjoyed sitting there amidst the Friday Happy Hour crowd, but after Steven showed up and had a glass of Chardonnay himself, I wanted some food and I didn’t feel like cooking.  Accordingly, we went to Salvatore’s Pizzeria and Restaurant, where we had some food and, yes, another glass of Chardonnay.

This is looking like a Scattered Friday post, which lacks the alliteration of a Scattered Saturday.   Well, I can’t help that.  For one reason, I am home how and Steven has poured me yet another glass of Chardonnay.  I have to watch Snapped.  It is Friday, after all.  Happy weekend, everybody.

Short Shout-out with Skeleton

Sugar Ray Bones seemed to be enjoying the ambiance quite a bit.

So yesterday Mohawk Valley Girl started something new by posting pictures.  It was FUN!  Although I suppose I could have done a better job at placing them and utilizing them to enhance my text.  Never mind, those things will come. Today I am having a kind of a Wuss-out Wednesday.  If I were to elaborate on why, it would be come Whiny Wednesday.  Nobody wants that!  Instead, I will give a quick shout-out to a business I have written about before:  So Sweet Candy Cafe in Utica, NY.

Steven had never been to the So Sweet, and I knew he would love it.  Additionally, Margaret, the proprietress, had posted pictures of her Halloween decorations on Facebook.  We made sure we had our Tablet before we headed out.

I took the above picture right away.  I LOVE skeletons!  The cafe had a naming contest for Sugar Ray Bones.  I did not enter, because I couldn’t think of any good skeleton names.  Red (which I did not think of) and Boney James (which I did) had already been taken by other skeletons I know.

We took some other pictures, but I have not downloaded them to my laptop yet.  My bad.  Then again, I can give the So Sweet another shout-out later.

Did I mention that today was Wuss-out Wednesday?  I guess I should have gone with Plan A and let this blog become All Splitting Issues All The Time, because I really have to wrap this up and get to dress rehearsal.

The So Sweet Candy Cafe is located at 531 Varick St . in Utica.  You can Like them on Facebook, and I totally recommend you stop in and see Sugar Ray Bones.

A Brief Sunday Post

I have entertained (or not) my readers with my computer troubles and tribulations. I will say it again: as disasters go, this one is minor. One could say, more an inconvenience.

But it’s all a matter of perspective. My blog is important to me. It is a goal I have set myself to post something every day. When this becomes impossible for reasons other than my own lack of initiative, prowess, talent, oomph, etc., I get frustrated. Therefore, I would like to make a brief post today to give a grateful shout out to Basloe Library in Herkimer, NY, who has made my posts since Thursday possible.

Full disclosure: I am composing this on the keyboard at the library on Saturday. I just published my Saturday post and I see I have over twenty minutes left on my session. I further see that WordPress offers a feature that you don’t have to publish immediately but can put a date and time to publish. Perfect! I can write this now, set it to publish tomorrow (when the library is closed) and I HAVE NOT MISSED A DAY! This is wonderful news for me!

That said, I don’t really have a whole lot to say other than, “Thanks, Basloe and all the lovely people who work there!”

Well, why not be brief on a Sunday? I hope you all are having a lovely day, and I hope to see you Monday.
