Short Run, Tired Post

My plan was to go for a run so I could make a Running Commentary Post. I accomplished the first part of my plan. Can I manage the second?

My back was feeling pretty sore at work, and my attitude was not in very good shape either. I wondered about taking a walk instead, possibly with my Tablet to get more spring pictures. For one reason, it might improve my disposition. However, I opted for the run.

I put in a load of laundry, my favorite multi-task. Really my only multi-task, since most of the time I can barely task. It was a beautiful warm, sunny day. No question I could run in shorts and short sleeves. This would be great!

It was not great. My body did not want to run. I did my usual trick of telling myself I only had to keep it up for a short time. Twenty minutes, I thought. Fifteen in a pinch. One mile. At the rate I was running, I figured a mile would take me fifteen minutes.

As it happened, I did a mile in barely under 14 minutes. I continued to run till I reached 20 minutes. It never got fun, but it always feels somewhat good to persevere.

I’m afraid I have not persevered to the extent of writing a good blog post. You should hear some of the narration in my head as I go! Unfortunately I cannot remember any if it now. Of course, with that being the case, we’ll never know if it was really good narration. It could have been utter nonsense and I am flattering myself. I shall not waste any energy wondering.

In the meantime, I am over 250 words. I call that more than respectable for a Tired Tuesday Post. I hope to see you all again on Wuss-out Wednesday.

Accomplishments Are Overrated

It is Wrist to Forehead Sunday, the day when all I want to do is swoon onto a handy chaise lounge, dramatically posed with the back of one wrist to my forehead. Note to self: get a chaise lounge.

I went for a long, slow run this morning, up a couple of pretty good hills. I did some grocery shopping and a load of laundry. I worked out in my back yard for a spell. I fixed dinner, did the dishes, then dirtied more making a salad for my week’s lunches. No wonder I’m tired!

All of this activity is by no means usual for me on a Sunday. For years I have maintained that it is useless to try to get anything done on a Sunday. Sundays are for watching movies, or episode after episode of Snapped. A glass of wine is optional.

I think the highlight of my day was the nap I took around 9:30 this morning, between grocery shopping and laundry. I was on the phone with my mother (I needed cheering up) and suddenly felt very tired. Mom thought a nap was a good idea. Always listen to your mother.

As I type this post, I contemplate the week ahead. Will I get things done? More yard work? Real writing? Mohawk Valley Adventures? Better blog posts? A little suspense adds interest to my Sunday.

Not Just Dead Leaves!

I went for a run after work, hoping to make a Running Commentary Post. After my cool-down walk I spent a very little time cleaning some of last year’s leaves out of the front yard. Then I took a shower, fixed supper, talked to my Mom on the phone, and generally got too tired to make a blog post.

Yet here I am. But do not despair, gentle reader! This is not another whiny post about how tired I am! Instead, I exerted myself enough to go outside and take a few pictures of flowers. I do love flowers.

Obviously I did not get all the leaves.

This is the lone crocus in the front yard. However, there is more greenery, so perhaps there will be more. I went into the backyard to check on the progress of the daffodils. When I was running I saw a bunch in full bloom, so I had some hopes.

Getting there!

I figured the circuses I had seen before were over, but I was delighted to see a few more, fighting their way through the treacherous 2020 leaves.

I have great hopes for getting yard work and gardening done. Of course, I will have to spend more time at it than 10 minutes after a run. Still, one has to start somewhere. I will keep you updated on my progress. For one reason, it makes a good blog post.

W(h)ining About Monday

Who me? Drink wine?

I thought I would open with a picture. In fact, it has not been a particularly heinous Monday. However, I am tired and disinclined to make anything but a Monstrous Monday Post. Can I find any good monsters to share? We shall see.

She’s so fine!

This, of course, is Bonita, our year-round skeleton who lives in our living room. This was her October outfit. I found the hat at a rummage sale. I think it is for a small dog. The black tulips, which I’m afraid do not show up very well, were made by my clever theatre friend, Jerry, for a murder mystery called Spring into Murder.

Another friend.

This is Harold Ghoul (get it?). I got him at a neighbor’s yard sale. I don’t know what they used to call him.

That says it all.

This is not turning out to be much of a blog post. I guess my bottom line is, I don’t like Mondays. I am embarrassed to admit it, because it is such a cliche. I hate to follow the crowd! Unless the crowd is drinking wine. Teehee.

Mid-Week Run, Tired Post

I thought it was supposed to be raining with dropping temperatures this afternoon. When I left work (at my new job, by the way), it had rained but was not doing so currently. Additionally, it was warm. It felt almost summery.

Earlier in the day, I had repented not running Monday and Tuesday. By the time I got home, I realized I might have a chance to redeem myself. It was cloudy and threatening, but MAYBE I could get a run in. And I could write a blog post about it, instead of having a Wuss-out Wednesday!

I happily dressed in shorts and short sleeves. I put a sweatshirt on the porch for my cool-down walk but was not sure I needed it. I set out with high hopes.

For the first few blocks, it was not at all bad. I wasn’t too tired to run! This was great! I turned left onto German Street, keeping on the sidewalk, because afternoon traffic in Herkimer can be heavy.

A mere seven or so minutes into the run (I looked at my Garmin but do not remember the exact time), I felt tired. Just persevere, I told myself. I am up to 45 minutes on my weekend runs. I certainly did not have to go that far today. Still, 15 minutes might be a trifle paltry.

I settled on half of my longest time. 22 1/2 minutes. I ended up going just over 23. It did not start to rain. Score! I petted one nice dog along the way. I felt quite pleased with myself.

Right now I feel more tired than pleased. I’m not sure it was all that great of a run, and as usual, I question the quality of my blog post. However, also as usual, I trust the process. I ran. I posted. Happy Wednesday, everyone!

Too Tired to Cook

It was a beautiful afternoon today. My husband Steve and I sat out on the front porch waiting for the sub we ordered from Salvatore’s Pizzeria and Restaurant in Herkimer, NY. The beauty part of that is, I can give a shout-out to a local business instead of making a purely Tired Tuesday Post.

I’m afraid it is a Tired Tuesday Post. Maybe I need to start living a healthier lifestyle so I don’t keep feeling so tired all the time. In the meantime, I must try to make today’s blog post.

We order from Salvatore’s fairly regularly. I like their wings and salads. Steven is fond of their garlic pizza. The last two times, however, we ordered subs. Yum!

I need to give a shout-out to another local pizzeria soon. Sunday we enjoyed food from Enzo’s Pizza. I’ll let that stand as a preview of coming attractions.

Do you suppose I should be cooking for myself more often? But then I would be less supportive of local businesses. I never get tired of supporting local businesses!

Enzo’s Pizza is located at 122 N. Main St., Herkimer NY, phone number 315-985-9090. They are open Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday noon to p.m.

Salvatore’s Pizzeria and Restaurant is located at 650 1/2 W. German St., Herkimer NY, phone number 315-866-2600. They are open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, closed Sunday.

I Need a Little Nosferatu

Hello, and welcome to another Monstrous Monday Post. I am feeling marginally less tired than I felt last Monday. However, I am still tired and a little down, and I want a few creepy crawlies to cheer myself up. If only I knew how to easily maneuver my Media Library to find my pictures of Nosteratu! I hate to find them anew on the internet and have them in the Media Library twice.

It’s no use. I can only scroll, and it moves more and more slowly. I got as far back as July 2020 and no Nosferatu. Damn!

He’s scary!

I went to Facebook and found a new (to my blog) picture of my favorite.

OK, one more.

Look how comfortable he looks! I should go upstairs and lie down. But first I must finish my blog post. I think one more monster picture ought to do it.

Not so scary.

This is an alligator (or maybe a crocodile) (depending on if I will see him later or in a while) made with a chain saw. My sister Vicki got him for me from Knoeble’s, an amusement park near where she lives in Pennsylvania. Quite a different kind of monster from Nosferatu but I find him equally cheering.

Also cheering is noticing I am over 200 words. Regular readers know I call that respectable. Happy Monday, everyone.

Monsters, Wine, or Whine?

Here I am, ready to make my Monstrous Monday Post. Will I be able to navigate my Media Library and find monster pictures to share? Will I be able to find new monster pictures? A little suspense adds interest to my post.

Here’s one of my favorites.

This was from my Media Library, shared as recently as March 1. First I looked at some of the free photos offered by WordPress. I found one I liked, but when I went to share it, I saw it had a caption telling who took the picture. I wasn’t clear on whether or not I was obligated to include this information so opted not to use the photo.

Who is this guy?

I liked the look of this one. A scary creature, an action shot, this peps up the post. I wish it would pep me up. I am so tired and wordless! I had a pretty crappy day. Of course most of my woes can be explained with the words Operator Error. So I must not complain.

Wait a minute! This isn’t a monster!

In fact, I have not had any wine this evening. I am sipping seltzer with lemon out of a wine glass, and that is almost as good. Additionally, I am not a fan of giving up. As the quote from the movie Galaxy Quest goes, “Never give up! Never surrender!”

However, perhaps the meme means to give it up for tonight, or to give up worrying about it. This calls for more philosophy than I am up for on a Monday. On the brighter side, I am over 250 words. I call that respectable. I’m going to shut up and hit Publish, before I really start to whine.

I’m No Rolling Stone

A Tired Thursday Post does not have the alliterative quality of a Tired Tuesday. But tired I am. And, quite frankly, a little tired of Throwback Thursday Posts featuring my past theatrical endeavors. I want to make NEW theatre memories! However, as the great philosopher Mick Jagger observed, you can’t always get what you want.

This is just swell! WordPress changed their configuration again, and it is WAY harder to scroll through my Media Library. Admittedly, my Tablet may be partly to blame. The result is the same. There will be no Throwback Thursday Post today.

Will there be a post at all? Well, I have typed in two paragraphs so far. Waste not, want not, I always say. If I could think up a punchy, not exactly related headline, I could call this Non-Sequitur and drive on. If only my thinking muscles were not so tired.

I Go Running

I went running today, and I was kind of proud of myself, because I have been having a hard time getting back into weekday runs. It was not a great run, weekday runs rarely are, but it was a good run. I thought in lieu of my usual Tired Tuesday Post, I would attempt a Running Commentary.

I walked to work yesterday and today. I try to do that most of the time, so that the days I don’t run, at least I get some exercise. Monday was cold, but today felt like spring. Actually, today the walk home kind of annoyed me, because the jacket that felt good in the a.m. was way to warm for the p.m. I may have to start shivering in the a.m.

I wore shorts and short sleeves, which I found pretty awesome. I ran on a few sidewalks, where they were mostly bare and dry. I did not run very fast. I did not run very far, although I went longer than the 20 minutes I require of myself on these Just-To-Keep-My-Feet-In Runs.

I passed a few pedestrians. I asked a man pulling a wagon and a woman pushing a stroller for a ride. They laughed but turned me down. I complimented a lady on her cute little dog. I would love to get another dog, but I don’t think I will be able to.

I just noticed I began every paragraph in this post with “I.” How egotistical of me. Then again, this is a personal blog. I could go back and edit, but Tired Tuesday is starting to kick in. I will try to keep my ego in check for Wuss-Out Wednesday. As always, I hope you’ll tune in.
