Trying for a Wrist to Forehead Sunday Post

It has been a few days since I made a blog post.  I almost made one on Thursday after trick or treating.  I got this far:

I hope everybody had, or is still having a happy Halloween.  I greeted trick or treaters, ran out of candy, and handed out spider rings to the last few.  Now I am tired and do not know if I will be able to finish this post before my Tablet runs out of charge.  Or I run out of oomph.

Then my Tablet got a little hinky about adding a picture, so I got a little discouraged.

Random Halloween related picture.

The Tablet is still jumping around like a — oh crap, I am no good at analogy!  Never mind.  All I want to do is make a simple Wrist to Forehead Sunday post, when I shall swoon, dramatically posed with the back of one wrist to my forehead.  My sister Diane actually has a chaise lounge; she calls it a fainting couch.  Nice!

My computer problems may be under control soon.  Diane is sending me the charging cord for my Chromebook.  I don’t know that I can really blame my computer problems for my blogging shortcomings.  After all, here I am pecking in one letter at a time with the stylus, and I can get on my phone to add the title.  And there is the library for computer use, at least Monday through Saturday.

I was there Saturday but did not get on a computer.

Well this has been another foolish post, but I think we have established that a foolish post is better than no post at all, have we not?  Once again, I will try for a  better blog post tomorrow.

Once Again, The Best Lame Plans…

I really, truly meant to make my Lame Post Friday post on Friday.  They say something about the best laid plans, but my plans are almost never best laid, so never mind that.  It is early Saturday morning, earlier than I have been getting up, so that is something different.  I always say I don’t like getting up, but I like being up.

And now I have the Type It In Backspace It Out Disease!  I even backspaced out “type-it-in-backspace-it-out disease,” because I decided to capitalize instead of hyphenate.  Which is better?  Please feel free to comment or just discuss amongst yourselves if you prefer.

Weren’t we beautiful?

I threw in a picture to pep things up, one I have shared and will continue to share.  It is the cast of Fabulous and Fatal, a murder mystery we presented in 2019 to benefit the Herkimer County Historical Society.  It would be a good idea if I started writing more murder mysteries, ahead of the time when I actually have to start rehearsals.

Another kind of fabulous.

In searching for another picture to help along the post, I found this one from October 2020.  For once I was not too lazy to go back and look.  It is from a post I made about a walk in Russell Park I took with my sister Cheryl and her daughter Jenna.  That is Cheryl, posing on a bridge for a photo op.  I should give Cheryl a call and see if she is up for another such walk.

This is what I’m talking about!

I see I am over 250 words, so I close with another fall photo.  I don’t think this is as good a year for color as others (this pic is from 2022), but I am enjoying what I see.  I hope to take a walk or run later and see more.

Slacker, Sick, and No Longer Saturday

Hello and welcome to my late Slacker Saturday post.  It is late morning Sunday; I slept in.  I was having the most fun dreams!  Then I dreamed I was trying to write them out, like a novel that might become a weekly series. But that is not what I meant to write this blog post about.  The fact is, I think I am coming down with something, or else my allergies are reaching dreadful proportions,

Random picture to denote passage of time while I get more coffee.

Last night we had our performance of Curtains for Frangelica, the murder mystery to benefit the Herkimer County Historical Society.  We had a small but fun crowd, and enjoyed a delicious dinner.  In fact, I ate too much, but you’ll have that.  Earlier in the evening, I felt a little icky, but blamed it on my allergies.  I may still blame it on my allergies, although it may be emotional, as I warded off a panic attack at one point with some deep breathing.  Oh dear, how self-dramatizing I am.

Then again, drama is my life!

That is the cast for Rubbed Out at Ruby’s, a murder mystery I often bring up in this blog.  For one reason, I have some great pictures of it.  For another reason, I would like to revive it one day, perhaps with a few modifications, since I probably will not be able to find the original script.

It seems I have skipped around this morning (in the blog, that is; I am not up for that much movement right now), which is not surprising, since my head is doing a little spinning.  I guess I’ll call it a Blogger’s Sick Day and drive on.  Will I manage to make my Wrist to Forehead Sunday post on Sunday?  A little uncertainty adds interest to my day.

I Follow Different Directions

I went for a walk yesterday but did not take any pictures, so no Pedestrian Post.  I guess the best I can do is a Throwback Thursday, and, yes, I am making it Friday morning and not that early either.  Judge me if you feel so inclined.

But first, another plug!

Ah, but before I throw back to anything, here is one last plug for Curtains for Frangelica, our latest murder mystery.  The last I knew, there were still tickets available, local readers!

The eyes have it.

Before I decided to begin with a plug, this picture from the past caught my eye.  It is the end of my Black-Eyed Susans, before that patch became entirely overgrown with all manner of weeds and things.  That reminds me, I need to get out there and cut everything back.  Perhaps later today if it does not rain (my bunions are non-committal, and I forget what I saw on WKTV News Tuesday).

I think he’s cute.

I was looking for other dead vegetation pictures and came across this adorable fall decoration.  I have no idea where he is now, but I see he is sitting on a Roger Ebert book, I Hated, Hated, HATED That Movie!  I do like reading bad reviews, although I do not agree with all the movies Ebert hated.  I am actually a little uncomfortable looking at the portion of the title showing, because in general I greatly prefer love to hate.  But I digress.

A dramatic conclusion indeed.

Since this is turning out to be something of a Non-Sequitur Thursday, I close by going in yet another direction with a shot from Horror Hotel, from one of my horror movie DVD collections.  I guess this kind of loops back to the beginning: murder mystery, horror movie.  I may be stretching a point.  However, I am over 300 words on one of those mornings when I had at first felt inclined to bag it altogether.  Let that be a lesson to me.  And thank you for tuning in.

A Late Post Concerning Coffee and Procrastination

I did not have a particularly Wrist to Forehead Sunday. I had a pretty good Sunday with a good rehearsal for Curtains for Frangelica.  To make my late Sunday post a little happier, I just figured out what I did to make my post look so odd as I type it.  I went from “Visual” to “Text.”  Let me try to add a picture to see if I really solved the problem.

My delightful cast.

The picture also denoted passage of time while I went and got more coffee.  I actually put on coffee last night instead of waiting till morning to do it, as I have regrettably been doing lately.  It is interesting how often one can say, “Oh, I’ll do it later,” then later be annoyed one did not do it at the time.  And yet one never learns.  One being me, of course.  I am sure any number of you have learned that lesson and are feeling rather smug right now (you know who you are). But I digress.

I had thought this blog might become All Curtains for Frangelica All the Time, with our performance set for this Saturday, Oct. 12, but apparently I am more into typing inanities about coffee and procrastination.

Still one writes what one can, even if one fears that, as Truman Capote once said, That’s not writing, that’s typing.  Once again, one being me.

Fairly Entertained by Autocorrect

Late posts. It was a thing before and it is a thing now. Here I am Wednesday morning making my Tired Tuesday post. In fact, I am still a little tired from Tuesday, because my coffee is still brewing (just to show how tired I am: I typed “viewing” for “brewing”) (but I think my coffee is done now).

Random picture to denote passage of time while I get coffee.

Ah, coffee.  Even one sip makes me feel better.  I just occurred to me:  I may not have typed “viewing”  I could have mistyped “brewing” and autocorrect “fixed” it for me.  Autocorrect is weird.  Sometimes it changes what I type to what it thinks I mean, and sometimes it just underlines it in red. Right now “mistyped” and “autcorrect” are underlined (“autocorrect” is underlined now four times, once with a capital A) (I add in the interests of accuracy).  Autocorrect is starting to look wrong, but I do not know how else to spell it. “Mistyped” I am comfortable with.

I think the random picture was prescient, because this certainly seems like the wrong way to make a blog post.  But some people might get a chuckle out of it.  As I like to say, it isn’t easy being me, but it is fairly entertaining.

My outsides aren’t doing too well, either.

I add another picture for further entertainment purposes and adjourn for more coffee. Happy Tuesday/Wednesday everyone!

Slacker, then Shout-out

It’s that awkward moment when you realize this is your best chance to get your Saturday post on Saturday, yet you can think of nothing to write about nor have you any of your adventure books handy.  Adventure Books (yes, I like it better when I capitalize both.  I believe I have never used the phrase in the blog) are the cute little blank books I buy when I see them cheap.  I sometimes start to use them for a specific purpose, which usually peters out, and often end up carrying one or another with me when I go adventuring.  I realize I should use one, fill it, then move on to the next, but anybody who expects such organizational miracles from me is doomed to disappointment.

At wine tastings, the pourers are often surprised and delighted when I start taking tasting notes.  Taking random notes is also comforting when I am out alone or bored waiting someplace.  I try never to leave without a notebook or at least an adventure book.

OK, so I guess this post started as a Slacker Saturday then went to babbling on about my writing habits.  I’d better throw in a picture to make things look good.

A fun memory!

Here is an adventure I definitely took notes about:  a ride on Richfield Springs Scenic Railway.  This, of course, is my late lovely husband Steve.  So now I have also given a shout-out to an area attraction.  I wonder if I can link to their website so readers can check them out.

Looks like it worked!

Pop Fly to Lame Field!

I have been sitting here trying to think of something to type for a blog post.  A baseball game is on the television.  I don’t follow sports, but I do enjoy to see a game.  Live is more fun, but sometimes television will do.

“OOOPER DOOPER!”

I turned to my Media Library for inspiration and found this picture from Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein, one of my all-time favorite movies.  Earlier today I had “Puttin’ on the Ritz” playing in my head, especially the version shown in this movie.  I considered posting as my Facebook status, “OOOPER DOOPER!”  but forgot till just now.  Anyways, I have not spent much time on Facebook today.

An excellent theatre memory.

Another memory that popped into my head today was Splitting Issues, which was presented by Ilion Little Theatre in 2015 (I think). It is a series of short scenes having to do with relationships between the sexes.  I was not going to audition but went with Steve, my late dearly missed husband, who did want to audition.  I read a scene with him, just for fun, and, well, these things happen in community theatre.  We had a great time with our little scene.

I just realized my headline is about baseball, but I barely mentioned the game in the first paragraph.  I do not think I have any baseball pictures in my Media Library.  Oh dear.

Also blog posts.

Oh well, it is Lame Post Friday.  Will I have a better blog post on Saturday?  No promises, but I hope you’ll tune in.

I Oversleep, But I Post

I overslept, my coffeemaker is taking a long time to brew, and my eyes have that filmy thing going on which blinking only helps temporarily.  Sounds like a good basis for a late Tired Tuesday post.

I neglected once again to take a picture of last night’s rehearsal for a proper Post-Rehearsal Post.  It was a disappointing rehearsal, because two cast members were absent.  They both had good reasons, and the three of us that were there read through the script twice.  We meet again tomorrow (Thursday) when I fear I will not be present.  Oh dear.

Random picture to denote passage of time while I get coffee.

I am in fact using the same coffee cup as yesterday but feel it is excessive to use the same picture two days in a row (the eye film thing almost made me miss that I had at first typed “feet” for “feel”).  I will confess that I am not feeling well and have not felt well all week.  Nothing serious, I’m sure, just severe allergy symptoms getting me down, I think.  I feel a little bad whining about it. Not bad enough not to whine, apparently.

Fun picture to distract from my whining.

So we have another placeholder post.  Why is this better than no post at all?  Discuss amongst yourselves.

I Dilly Dallied My Weekend Away

Hello and welcome to another Wrist to Forehead Sunday post.  I had meant to post on something of more interest but am strangely disinclined to do so.  I know, I know, one must be pitiless in the matter of mood in writing.  That is part of a quote by somebody.  I forget who, but he said it a long time ago. I just imagine it is still true.

Who, me? Procrastinate making a blog post?

This is a plaque my sister Cheryl gave me.  Everybody seems to think it is so me.  The fact is, most of the time I am piddle puttering.  But we’ll leave that for now. I really just wanted to put in a picture to pep up the post.  I hope it worked.

“What do you mean, tomorrow’s Monday?”

I gave up looking for the picture I had in mind and add this one of William Castle, looking flabbergasted.  I actually had to keep reminding myself last night that today was going to be Sunday.  Then when I took a nap earlier, I reminded myself that it was still Sunday, Monday isn’t till I sleep again.  I hope I will sleep again, but one cannot worry about these things when a nap is clearly indicated.

I do love my murder mysteries!

I wanted to end with a cheery photo and at last settled on this one from Donate to Murder.  I hope to remember to take pictures at Tuesday’s rehearsal for Curtains for Frangelica (preview of coming attractions).  In the meantime, I will try to come up with a better blog post for Monday.  Once again, I thank you for tuning in.
