What’s Not to Lame?

I thought of that title last week when I saw a sign asking, “What’s not to like?”  I kept repeating it to myself so I would not forget it.  I don’t know why I did not write it down at some point, as I usually do things I want to remember.  Now I am not even sure it is all that good of a title.  Still, how good of a title to I need for Lame Post Friday?

As I type this I am looking at a Columbo episode titled “Undercover.”  I had thought it was not all that good of an episode (I saw it before years ago), but it seems I am wrong, because it has definitely caught my interest.  I guess I do not need to be glued to it though, since I have it on DVD. I can watch it again at any time.

He’s dressed differently in this episode.

I thought I had heard the heat would be over today, but it has not been the relief I was hoping for.  I suppose I should not have expected miracles. At least it was Friday. And still is.  Woohoo!  Will I have another on-time blog post? Could be!

I am not dressed like this right now..

I am enjoying a libation this Friday evening.  That picture is from some time ago, but I believe I have the same smile on my face.  I do enjoy my Fridays.

This has not been much of a post, but at least it is over 250 words.  Other writers try for quality over quantity, and many would say 250 is not all that much quantity.  I can’t worry about these judgement calls.  But perhaps I can find a fun picture to sign off with.

We should always be excellent to each other.

Bill and Ted.  There could be no possible objection.

Make Mine Gin, with a Twist of Lame

Actually I am sipping Tanqueray with a couple of olives, size large (my Chromebook is underlining “Tanqueray,” but that is so how you spell it).  Yes, I am indulging in a martini, but I’m only having one and I am not driving.  Sheesh!

Earlier today, as I was leaving work and people were saying, “Have a good weekend,” I got hit by a wave of Not Feeling Friday.  That is because of the many things I have to do, some of which I alluded to in the last blog post (I still have not returned the overdue library book, shame on me!).  I accomplished a couple of them tonight, but they were scarcely blogworthy (I find it OK that Chromebook underlines “blogworthy,” because I think I made that word up).

A more common libation for me.

I throw in a random picture to pep things up (oh, this is too much:  Chromebook is underlining “libation,” and offering “liberation” as a substitute!) (I guess some people find wine liberating, but still).  It will come as a surprise to nobody, least of all me, that I do not have a whole lot to say right now.  I used up all my oomph doing the couple of things I did earlier, plus a little cleaning.  Oh, and an eight hour work day, which becomes increasingly difficult for a woman my age (I should perhaps mention that I have been referring to myself as “a woman of my age” since I was in my 30s).

The weekend promises to bring some fun times with family.  I do enjoy my family.  I enjoy weekends too, although I never seem to get as much done as I feel I should.  Does anybody? Oh, I suppose YOU probably do (you know who you are).

See? Fun people!

I finally found a fun family picture to share.  I hope to take some pictures this weekend.  I also hope to make my blog posts on time (as, incidentally, this one is).  Will I succeed?  A little uncertainty adds interest to my weekend.

It’s Never Too Lame!

Once again I make my Lame Post Friday blog post on Saturday morning.  I thought about making it last night, but bed seemed like such a good place to be.  It’s been a difficult week, although it has had its good points.  Nothing is all good or all bad, I hope.  At least, I hope nothing is all bad.  All good, I would like to try and see.  There is some half-baked philosophy for you.  We are used to finding the silver lining in bad times, or at least it is a good idea to do so.  Do we ever look for the fly in the ointment in good times?  Are there any other hoary expressions I can throw in?  Really, me, “silver lining”?  “fly in the ointment”?  Have some more coffee.

Ah ha ha! Coffee can be evil!

I throw in a random picture while I go get another cup of coffee.  I do not want to speculate on whether coffee is or can be, in fact, evil.  I put the caption because I believe that coffee mug looks malevolent.

Since this is my second cup of coffee,  one might think I had just rolled out of bed, but that is not the case.  I got up prior to six and went for a run.  The problem with running before coffee is that sometimes I forget to make coffee.  I had my recovery beverage of chocolate milk (it’s science!), made myself an egg sammich for breakfast…  oh yes, coffee. Ahhh… coffee.

I got rained on during my run, off and on.  Now it seems mostly on, so I am sorry about the local events going on today, for example, Little Falls Pride 2024 and Dolgeville Violet Festival. I had been thinking of running the Pride Stride 5K in Little Falls.  There used to be a 5K associated with the Violet Festival, too, but I don’t know if there still is.  How uninformed of me.  Anyways, I am not in 5K shape at this time.  I am in shape, though, because round and puffy is still a shape, you know.

I don’t think these two are in 5K shape either.

Here are Bonita and Bonaparte to wish you a happy Saturday.  I will never be as skinny as Bonita.  Puffy little Bonaparte is more my speed (almost literally).  I suppose I am not as cute, although my husband, Steven used to think so.

Feeling Friday, Feeling Lame

I strive to conquer the type-it-in-backspace-it-out disease at least for long enough to make this week’s Lame Post Friday post.  I am typing it in, at least with all ten fingers, on an unfamiliar computer, never mind why, explanations are tiresome.  All I want to do is make with a few random observations, spout a little half-baked philosophy (the traditional components of Lame Post Friday, I add for anybody just tuning in), hit Publish, and drive on.

“This is a good boy!”

Or I could resort to my Media Library and throw in a few random pictures.  This one is from Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein, one of my very favorite movies.  I quote it often.

“Ah-OOOOOOH!”

I was feeling Friday all day long today, which made it an enjoyable day.  What will the weekend bring?  Perhaps not much howling on my part, but one can always hope.

I gotta say, that hood is not a great look.

Perhaps the weekend will bring some cheesy movie watching for me.  The above is Horror Hotel, which is also known by another name which I cannot remember.  Something about a city, some sort of city.  Either way is not the best title, because it concerns an inn in a village, not a hotel in a city.  Can you recognize a young Christopher Lee in the hood?  I did not even know who he was the first time I saw the movie, but after watching a few Hammer Horror films, I recognized him here.

I love that purple!

I go a different way for my final picture.  I am afraid this has been a rather disjointed post (Non-Sequitur Friday?), but I am approaching 300 words.  I must think of a title, hit publish, and get back to enjoying my Friday.  As always, I thank you for tuning in.

What Else Is Lame?

I am sitting here at my Chromebook, battling the type-it-in-backspace-it-out disease, hoping to make my Lame Post Friday blog post on Friday.   Quite frankly, I got nuthin’.  You may ask, with ample justification, so what else is new?  I begin to think, perhaps being a daily blogger is not the life for me.  SAY IT AIN’T SO!!!!

They look ready for a fun Friday.

I looked through my Media Library for a picture to pep things up.  Here is Bonita in her summer outfit, accompanied by her little friend Bonaparte.  This is an old picture.  My late, dearly missed husband Steven dressed Bonita in the summer outfit.  The Hawaiian shirt is his, although I often borrowed it.  The flower headband is one of two of mine.  Steve purposely let the tag show, to have a Minnie Pearl thing (if you don’t know what that is, ask your grandparents about HeeHaw).

The other headband.

Now I show you a picture of me in the headband.  That shirt I have on was totally worn out between Steve and me.  So is this a blog post about flowered headbands and summer shirts?  Why not on Lame Post Friday?

Yeah, what they said.

What is wrong with a silly blog post on Lame Post Friday?  I know, I make silly blog posts any day of the week.  Then again, I always say, go with your strengths.

There’s No Place Like Lame

I am almost entirely through Saturday morning as I sit down to make my Lame Post Friday blog post.  I am once again ten-finger typing, because I successfully remembered my Chromebook password.  I think I mentioned how I locked myself out, goodness knows how.  I finished one post and made another on the Tablet, which I used to always do.  But nobody needs to hear about my computer trials and tribulations, least of all me.  On with the post!

Ah, the theatre!

I wanted to throw in a picture to pep things up and came across this gem in my Media Library.  It is my friends Kim and Jim in a play at Ilion Little Theatre.  The young lady in the background is a friend, too, of course.  I am meeting Kim, Jim, and Jim’s daughter Kelly for lunch at Salvatore’s in Herkimer, NY for lunch in — yikes, little more than an hour!

It has not been a real good week for me, blog-wise or health-wise (or come to think of it getting-my-house-clean-wise), but you’ll have that.  Yesterday I was asking people if it was really Friday, because I just wasn’t feeling it.  This you will also have.  But never mind that.  I hope to have  (continue to have; it is almost noon on Saturday, for heavens’ sake) a good weekend.  I went for a run of over 2 miles (not much over, but I must celebrate every small win).  I guess this post is in the nature of a place-holder, so I have made a post for every day (if not on every day).  Will I manage to make Saturday’s blog post on Saturday?  A little uncertainty adds interest to my day.

But Dracula Isn’t Lame

I am looking at Dracula A.D 1972, a Hammer Horror movie on a DVD collection of four such pictures.  Recently somebody on one of the horror pages I follow on Facebook said this was a really dumb movie, and somebody else asked for opinions.  I said I found it fun, not one of my favorites, but worth popping in once in a while.  With that in mind, I popped it in tonight.  Alas that I have no pictures to share of it.  I still can’t figure out how to download pictures on the Chromebook, and I am far too lazy to get on my Tablet, download a picture, put it in my WordPress Media Library, then get back on the Chromebook to make the post.

He is scary, yes?

Here is Christopher Lee as Dracula.  I do not know which movie it is from, but he does not look a whole lot different in this one.

I would rather drink a glass of wine a day.

Taste the Blood of Dracula is also on this disc, on the opposite side.  I put that side in at first, but I had it in my mind to see A.D 1972.

Well, this is a boring blog post, even for Lame Post Friday.  Sorry, I am feeling quite tired but hoping to make my Friday post on Friday.  Still, some might enjoy the pictures of Christopher Lee.  He is rather a horror icon.  In any case, I am over 200 words.  Regular readers know that is my standard.  Once again, I will try for a better blog post tomorrow.

An Impromptu Stroll Down Memory Lame

I interrupt my Friday night debauchery for a Lame Post Friday post.  In case anybody is interested in what my debauchery consists of, I was sipping a little wine, knitting, and watching episodes of City Confidential on Roku TV.  I don’t remember if I ever mentioned I had finally gotten one of them there Roku thingys, thinking I might like to watch more than I could get with the antenna.  The antenna, in case I never mentioned, enabled me to watch WKTV News in the morning and Svengoolie on Saturday night, when I remembered to tune in.  A total of four channels actually come in, but I have never explored the other two.

I still do not own a rubber chicken.

I searched my Media Library for an embarrassing amount of time looking for a picture of Svengoolie, even though I had only mentioned him in passing.  I do like to have an illustration.  It’s kind of funny when I think of how I blogged for over five years with no pictures.  I think it definitely added to the blog when I finally figured out how to include them.

The picture that started it all.

Since I brought it up, I share the first picture ever used in the blog.  It was in November 2016, a post about a display of costumes outside Boscov’s in Sangertown Mall, New Hartford, NY, shortly after that store had opened.  I do not get to the mall very often, although I used to work there.  It was not a delightful workplace (the particular store I was in; I have nothing against the mall), however, so I shall say no more about that.

Yes, I just have to share Steve again.

I conclude my impromptu stroll down Memory Lane (hey, that might be a good title) with another picture from November 2016.  This is my late, much loved husband, Steven, at Pumpkin Junction in Sauquoit.  However, I must not begin looking forward to Halloween.  We just barely got some spring!

Lame Me Your Ears

You know, like “Lend me your ears”?  I was trying to think of a clever title, because I do not have anything particularly clever to say.  Cue unkind remarks about how I am never particularly clever (you know who you are).  I am home relaxing after doing some minor running around related to Deadly Night Life, the murder mystery we are putting on at Salisbury Grange tomorrow.  I’m sure a fun time will be had by all, or at least most.

It might look a little like this.

I went into my Media Library to look for a picture of a murder mystery and found this one from Shooting at the Grange, the murder mystery we presented last April.  I am a little disappointed that I did not find any of the last one we did at the Elks Club to benefit the Herkimer County Historical Society.  I looked rather fabulous in that one, although I daresay I flatter myself.

There’s a fabulous bunch!

Here is the cast of Fabulous and Fatal, the murder mystery we did at the Travel Lodge in Little Falls for the Herkimer County Historical Society in 2019.  The beautiful blonde and the lovely fellow in gold (I loaned him the dress) are in tomorrow’s play.  I positively must get some pictures!

In the meantime, I am over 200 words.  Sufficient for a Lame Post Friday post, at least by my rules for me.  I hope you are all having a lovely evening.

Lame Brain or Lack of Brain?

Hello and welcome to another Lame Post Friday post.  This one promises to be lame indeed, because the part of my brain (i.e., most of it) that left with yesterday’s migraine has not returned.  What’s that all about?  Never mind, I’ll just throw in some random pictures from my Media Library, rattle on for 200 words or so, then call it a day.

This was a good cast.

I went to April 2019 and found a few pictures from Morning’s at Seven, a play I was in at Ilion Little Theatre.  I was just thinking about that play earlier today, so it seems coincidental that I find the pictures now.

Here’s a cheery sight.

I throw in some daffodils to cheer things up a little.  My daffodils never bloomed, although some greenery came up where the bulbs are.  I really need to up my gardening game.  Come to think of it, a lot of my games could use a little upping.  But I can’t worry about that right now.

Is this post bugging you?

I become even more random posting a couple of fake bugs.  I do not say insects, which might have sounded more formal, because one is clearly an arachnid.  I would rather be didactic than formal any day.

Cheers, sweetie, wherever you are!

I reached 200 words with the previous paragraph but wanted to include one more picture.  I was looking for something with wine but instead chose one of my late, dearly missed husband, Steven, at the Ommengang Brewery in Cooperstown, NY.  I can’t quite see, but I think he is wearing a t-shirt from a New York State winery.

Once again, thank you for joining me.  I hope you will return tomorrow, when I also hope to see my brain and make a better blog post.  Happy Friday, all!
