I can’t make up my mind whether to have a Blogger’s Sick Day, a Blogger’s Sad Day, a Bloggers Stress Day, or a simple Non-Sequitur Thursday. I lean toward the latter. For one reason, I do not intend to talk about why I am sick, sad and stressed. Not trying to be mysterious; just don’t want to be tiresome. I do enough whining as it is.
Of course, this is a personal blog. I might be expected to talk about my personal problems. And sometimes I do. But not today.
Looks like aLooLoLooks oks k fun bunch.
OK, this is weird. I can’t seem to put a caption on this picture. It is strange, too, that it was in my Media Library and I do not remember using it in a blog post. Perhaps I should go back and check.
Nope, not in any post. It is me, two of my sisters and my mom at my sister’s house in Liverpool. A fun visit.
I really just threw in the photo to make the post more non-sequitur-ish. I think another pic would help.
What hump, indeed?
And once again I cannot add a caption. What the hell, WordPress? Oh, I suppose it is operator error as usual. No matter. I am over 200 words. The blog must go on!
Time for a quick Throwback Thursday Post. I am tired, as usual these days. In my defense, I mowed my lawn with the non-power mower in the warm weather. OK, I did a pretty lousy job. And I am a big baby. You knew that about me.
Damn it looked good!
This is our Rose of Sharon in April 2017. April! At least, it was in the blog in April. Perhaps the picture was taken in a later month of 2016, because our Rose of Sharon does not look nearly this good now. Oh dear. And yes, I am obviously too lazy to go take a picture of it now.
A little back lit.
I overcame my laziness to walk out back and take the above shot. There is actually more green than I had realized. Now this post is less of a Throwback, but I do not despair. It can always be a Non-Sequitur Thursday Post.
Preview of coming attractions.
Here are our daisies in 2017. None have bloomed yet. In fact, that space is currently dominated by forget-me-nots, as I showed in a more recent blog post.
Just a couple days ago.
It seems this blog is a bit flower obsessed these days. I find that appropriate for spring. I hope to do some real gardening this weekend. I will have even more pictures of flowers to share! As always, I hope you’ll stay tuned.
I had a Mohawk Valley Adventure today! I have not had one of those on a weekday after work in a while. You see, I had a donation to bring to H.A.L.O. House in Little Falls, NY for their yard sale. And here’s a real pisser for you: I just went to their Facebook page and found out the sale has been postponed to the first weekend in June! Well, I still made the donation and I can still plug the sale. On with the post!
The trunk of my car.
I had books and VHS tapes to donate. Now that the sale has been postponed, perhaps I can find a few household items to add. I dropped what I had at H.A.L.O. House.
I like kitties, although I am allergic.
Since I was in Little Falls, I went to Canal Place to get some dinner from Mangia Macrina’s Wood-Fired Pizza. Yum!
It’s a decorative oven, I think.
The fellow behind the counter admired my shirt from Original Herkimer Cheese. I wonder if I can find a picture of it in my Media Library.
One of my favorite shirts!
As I left the pizzeria, I noticed some lovely flowers and just had to take a picture.
I want purple tulips and a magnolia tree!
I felt it was a productive afternoon. H.A.L.O.’s yard sale will be June 4 and 5 at 615 Albany Street, Little Falls, NY. Mangia Macrina’s Wood-Fired Pizza is at the Stone Mill, Canal Place, Little Falls, NY. Herkimer Original Cheese is located at 2745 Route 51, Ilion, NY. You can find all three of these on Facebook.
Phew! One adventure, three plugs, I call that OK for a weekday blog post. Happy Thursday, everyone!
I went for a run after work today, thinking I could make a Running Commentary Post. I even had a title for it: Thunky Thursday.
Just a quick digression: my autocorrect turns “thunky” into “thinly.” For heaven’s sake if there was anything thin about me, I would not feel so thunky when I ran! Oh, I know, thunky is not a word. It ought to be.
Where was I? Ah yes, explaining why I seem unable to make a Running Commentary Post after all. Well, to begin with, I am tired after my run. For another reason, it was not all that great a run. I spent part of it wondering why I had ever thought I could run. I had plans to include that in the post (you know how I like to narrate in my head as I run).
I ask myself, why am I not making that post now? No answer is forthcoming. It is all very well to say I am tired. Obviously I am not too tired to write SOMETHING. So once again I ask, What the hell, me? I have no answer to that question either.
One thing about this blog: I can almost always get a post about not writing a post. As Truman Capote famously said, That’s not writing, that’s typing. Oh, Truman, you hadn’t seen anything yet!
I am spending the evening watching 20/20 on OWN, and apparently it is New York State Murder Day. First we saw an episode about Cal Harris, accused of killing his wife in Owego, NY, and now it is an episode about Nick Hilary, accused of killing his ex-girlfriend’s son in Potsdam, NY. I lived in Owego as a very little girl, and I lived in Potsdam as an adult, so these episodes are of great interest to me.
I have seen other shows about both cases, but you never know when one of them will show something new. I don’t always remember everything anyways. Of course I share my opinions and questions with Steven as we go. “Why did that witness wait so long to come forward?” “What about those fingerprints?” and my usual, “He totally did it!”
Mostly, I am happy the episodes specify the towns involved. So often these true crime shows talk about “a small town in upstate New York,” as if there is New York City and the rest of the state.
So this is my Thursday blog post. If only I could think of a punchy but not quite related headline, I could bill this as a Non-Sequitur Thursday Post. Think, Cindy, think!
Today I must take a Bloggers Sick Day, and by Blogger’s Sick Day, of course I mean I will blather on for at least a couple of paragraphs. I had a migraine. It came to me in the night: I dreamed I had a bad headache. THAT’S the dream that comes true! Sheesh!
I wanted to call in sick to work, but there were a few matters I felt I had to deal with. Additionally, you never can tell with my headaches. Sometimes I feel better as I go.
Alas, that was not the case today. I got a few of my things taken care of. A couple kind of evaporated of their own accord. I was in the middle of a task when I gave up.
“This is just not working out for me,” I told my co-workers. I went home to lie down in a darkened room.
Sleep helped. A neutral dinner of a potato, egg and cheese mixture settled my stomach. These really bad headaches rarely last more than a day, so I have that going for me.
And I see I am approaching 200 words. Score! If only I could think of a punchy headline, I could call this a Non-Sequitur Thursday. Am I recovered enough from my headache to think? You be the judge.
A Tired Thursday Post does not have the alliterative quality of a Tired Tuesday. But tired I am. And, quite frankly, a little tired of Throwback Thursday Posts featuring my past theatrical endeavors. I want to make NEW theatre memories! However, as the great philosopher Mick Jagger observed, you can’t always get what you want.
This is just swell! WordPress changed their configuration again, and it is WAY harder to scroll through my Media Library. Admittedly, my Tablet may be partly to blame. The result is the same. There will be no Throwback Thursday Post today.
Will there be a post at all? Well, I have typed in two paragraphs so far. Waste not, want not, I always say. If I could think up a punchy, not exactly related headline, I could call this Non-Sequitur and drive on. If only my thinking muscles were not so tired.
So here I am at 6:24 on Friday morning (TGIF!) trying to make my Thursday blog post. I was not too depressed to make my post last night. I was too tired and wordless. I did not even write much in the TV Journal. Then I got distracted by a two hour Dateline that I had not seen before. Regular readers are familiar with my love of all things murder and mayhem. Speaking of which:
The delightful Matthew Powers, interacting with our audience. That’s me in the background in gold lame.
The above photo showed up in my Facebook memories, practically begging me to use it in a Throwback Thursday post. It is from Secrets at Suiter House, an interactive murder mystery dinner theatre we presented to benefit Herkimer County Historical Society. I feel it was one of my better scripts, or perhaps I flatter myself.
You may be asking right now, why did I not make a Throwback Thursday post last night when it was, for example, actually Thursday? I say, that is a very good question. Yes, that is my only answer, other than referring you to the first paragraph, when I alluded to being wordless. I am pleased to report that this is no longer the case.
Discerning readers may have noticed that I am in a considerably better mood this morning. Could it be that happy Friday feeling? The short run I took on Thursday (another reason I was so tired)? The fact that I am typing words that are not whiny and embarrassing? Why am I questioning these things? I should just enjoy them.
She’s awesome!
I just now searched the Herkimer County Historical Society’s Facebook page for another photo to download. My laptop was taking forever to show me the pictures! Finally I found one of executive director Sue Perkins, giving one of their cemetery tours. I was only able to go on one of those tours but I loved it. I like the photo, too, because of the gravestones.
I guess this has become a kind of a Non-Sequitur Thursday post, which I feel is appropriate since I am making it Friday morning. And I got to plug Herkimer County Historical Society. I love them. I hope to see you all later, when I make my Lame Post Friday post. Late Happy Thursday!
Today was (is) National Drink Wine Day. I heard that on the news this morning, as did a number of my co-workers.
“Just to clarify,” I asked, “It is not Gluck Down The Whole Bottle At One Sitting Day, correct?”
A co-worker said she felt there should be no judgement. A kind, insightful woman,
No, I am not glucking down bottles but merely enjoying a glass. I only mention the fact because, well, this is my blog post and I don’t have a whole lot else to talk about. Judge me if you are so inclined.
Regular readers (if I still have any) know I have been having a difficult time lately, writing or doing almost anything else. I go through these patches. For the most part I keep making daily blog posts, because that is what I do. Sometimes they are whiny. Sometimes they are about wine. Some of them I label Non-sequitur Thursday, hit Publish, and drive on.
So I had my first full day of work since late October. I guess I am once again gainfully employed. However, I am being trained and am still on my probationary period. I am trying to remain positive, but this could still go south.
In the meantime, blog posts must be made. At least, my blog posts by me, to the best of my ability. Full disclosure: I am not feeling particularly able tonight. No matter. I will think of something.
It’s a Barista Bar!
I thought I would throw in a picture to pep things up. I was talking about this place to my mother earlier this evening. It is a lovely place to get coffee, located on Genessee Street in Utica, NY. I may write an article about it to submit to Mohawk Valley Living magazine.
Unfortunately, as I was talking to Mom, I could not remember the name of the place. Something fancier than “cafe.” I knew it began with a “b,” but all I could think of was “bistro,” and I knew that wasn’t it.
“It’ll come to me,” I said. It did not, till I saw the picture. “Barista Bar!” I exclaimed, which confused my husband, although he is used to me.
I could use a cup of coffee to pep myself up right now, but it would probably keep me up all night. On the brighter side, this post is over 200 words. I call that respectable for a Non-Sequitur Thursday Post. I hope to see you all again for Lame Post Friday.
